- I have been a fan of Cerwin Vega for years now, and this 2.1 system is no let down. The satellites have incredible clarity and control even into the high volumes. Nothing beats the sound of Cerwin's clean, distortion free and incredibly deep base. This is a smart buy if your room is small, or if you are just starting out and want something to build off of.

- This is every thing I hoped it would be.It sound outstanding and it is the most user friendly sound system I have had.Looking for a great sound system? This is the one!!!!!!!
- First of all this system can not compete with a system that costs twice as much. However, for the price this can't be beat. The sound is really good in dolby digital. Just make sure to use the optical input. It has only one so if you have other devices such as ps3, xbox360 then I recommend getting a switcher that will handle all the optical ins and then send to the reciever. The sound separation is really good and the center channel is great for a system like this. The music does not drown out the voices as I have heard with other systems. The feature that convinced me to buy this was that with a complete sound systems you get a upconverter dvd to 720p or 1080i when using HDMI. The upconvert is decent but it definitely is not as good as a Bluray in 1080i. I am using this in a big room so the bass is not that great but others have said it is very loud in their setup. The tower speakers look nice and match my tv. The rear speakers look nice and my wife actually likes the look. The system enhances the look of the hdtv. You cannot go wrong if you are looking in this price range.
- I researched for about 2 months before I purchased this product. I read most every review I could find. It was not difficult to set up, the sound and picture quality is awesome hooked up with an HDMI cable. I can't wait until they come out and upgrade my dish to high definition channels. This is without question the best buy I could have made on this type of system. My purchase price was $240.00 delivered.
- bought the system day after Christmas and been using it since then. Having all sorts of problems with it. First the HDMI input does not work properly. It would sometimes detect the TV is connected and most of the time, it would not. So i have to reset the HDMI cable for it to work. Second, the audio and video is not synchronized. Its like watching a foreign film that's dubbed in english. Third, the system would just stop working and I have to reset the center unit to make it to work again. And most importantly, JVC customer support was there to waste your time. Canned replies and they don't even try to troubleshoot the problem, they would just point you to an authorized service center which is 50 miles away. I chose this because of the features only to find out most of the features don't work. Now the system doesnt power up. Warranty is 12 months for parts but only 3 months for labor. so now I either have to pay for labor or just throw this piece of junk and get a better system... anything but JVC.
- *RARELY, next to NEVER do I give 5 stars... For this I did. Great Job!

-
excelente calidad de sonido, he escuchado muchos comentarios negativos , sobre los productos bose , pero la verdad es que la calidad de esas pequeñas speakers ,es excelente muy nitida , tengo un av receiver DENON avr 2807, y es excelente la combinacion , de todo el DVD , X BOX 360 se oye estupendo , he escuchado otros equipos mas costosos y voluminosos ,de marcas reconocidas y no le piden nada a este estupendo equipo , yo lo adoro , i love it ...
- I bought this product despite reading several forums that consistantly bash Bose products. I am not an audiophile so I don't need the best possible speakers for my system. I was looking for a speaker system that would fill the room with good sound, which this system does. They sound great and are barely noticible around the room.
- I've recently purchased this bose speaker system and pair it with my SR605 receiver. It sounds great. However, I want to setup it up as a 7.1 system and i need your advise/suggestion. This speaker system is 6.1 and my receiver is 7.1. Do I buy another pair of speakers for surround sound? How would I hook it up? Thanks
- BOSE is a marketing machine, plain and simple. You see them everywhere you look, on the television, on billboards, in magazines; they saturate you with advertisements.
Being already familiar with BOSE I was at a friend's house last weekend who had the misfortune of having picked up an Acoustimass 16 in black. He had everything set-up and we listened to a few DVD's and a few tracks. Well the speakers were definitely being sent the discreet multi-channel mixes from the DVD's we listened to, but it sounded incredibly hollow with no resolve whatsoever in the high end and the bass, or lack thereof, sounded muddy and boomy. To illustrate this we listened to the first few second of "Down In It" from the debut Nine Inch Nails album, "Pretty Hate Machine". It's a good way to measure how good the bass enclosure is, because it has one solitary low bass bell note to start the song.
Pausing the song showed how poor the design of the casing is inside. The note resounded in the cabinet for a whole second afterwards!! It was certainly not giving off low frequencies either, despite BOSE's assertion that this unit plays loud and clear to the deepest frequencies.
Obvious BOSE is thinking of a different species' hearing limits when they refer to the deepest frequencies, because this unit doesn't even come close.
The high frequency response of this unit falls off really quickly and made listening to CD sound like a low-quality 128 Kbps .mp3 file.
If I had to rate this system on its CONS and PROS:
PROS - very easy set-up with wiring, tiny satellite speakers
CONS - sound, the bass is muddy and doesn't get low, the highs are nowhere to be seen.
From the overall sound of these speakers I would have guessed I was listening to a $200 Home Theater in a Box solution. That BOSE charges over $1,000 for the sound I experienced is pretty criminal, but I guess that's what a good marketing department can do.
For the $1,000+ that BOSE charges for these speakers you can find solutions that will more than outperform these speakers for under half the cost. Check out the 5.1 and 6.1 systems from Onkyo, JBL, Klipsch, etc., all for around $500 that will easily outperform the rubbish BOSE is pawning off on you.
- hi everyone, first my setup is a panny 58inch plasma 720p...my bose acoustimass 16 series 2 is the second bose product i have owned. My first introduction to Bose products with their Lifestyle system with just 5 speakers and the Acoustimass module that had 2 woofers...i forget the Lifestyle model number...this was back in 2000. Again, this setup only had 2 woofers. The new Acoustimass module found only in their flagship speaker setup (Acoustimass 16 Series II)has a total of 3 woofers downward firing. My second foray into home theatre "excitement" was switching to the Infinity TSS750, years ago, when it first came out. Now, when comparing the two...the TSS750 did have a clear sounding treble...like when the glass shattered in the matrix movies...you could hear that "KEEEEEESSHH" sound...the emphasize being more on the "eeee" rather than the "ssshhh". The movie sounds could be described as sounding "brighter". However, the Bose had a warm, richer sound...not as "tinny" as some have described speakers to be. Look, i am just an average techno girl that loves a good hd-surround sound setup. My very first interests in Home Theatre was when DVD first came out and Dolby Prologic II was the ticket. I had the Sony "Twin Tower" speakers that had the circuitry built into the towers. This was 1996 i remember. Today, I have the Onkyo TXSR705, now paired with the Bose Acoustimass 16 series 2...it sounds TREMENDOUS...yeah it is a more powerful reciever...but also i think that extra woofer gives it a bit more OOMPH... WHEN i scurry through different reviews, i read such negative points but many are reviews off of older systems. Lets have the merits of the Acoustimass 16 Series II be the product that we critque and not lump Bose surround sound speakers. I believe that if you get the best of the bunch...meaning the 16 series 2 that have the 3 woofers in the bass module and pair it with an outstanding av reciever it will ROCK...now for me...its all about movies...not so much music...and maybe crazy audiophiles have a problem with music...its possbile...but the craze now is movies...also...its important that when you hook it up and set your speaker size preferences in the av reicever...that you set it to...LARGE SPEAKERS..THATS RIGHT LARGE SPEAKERS..ITS IN THE MANUAL...i am not some audio crazed expert but I read up on the products I do own. I have owned 4 different speakers now to know the difference but let me try to stay on point also...Consumer Reports Magazine states that...dont let marketing dictate the quality of your speakers...all the fancy metal, choromium, diaphrams or whatever your speakers are made of doesnt guarantee the audio translated out to what you hear...let your ears decide. Besides technically your ears are very unlikely to pick up all the frequency variances marketing touts. For me it boiled down to brand quality, great sleek modern looks, and a comparative review of the sound i have come to learn. Forgive my grammar as best you can and pick apart what you can from the review to benefit you. I am a real product owner and the Bose bashing i believe is not based on actual ownership of the Acoustimass 16
Series 2 which has the 3 bass woofer speakers on the modual vs the older Bose products. You can only get the more powerful Bass module with the Acoustimass 16 Series II, which we are reviewing now. Ok...ciao everyone

- I bought a set of these for my sister-in-law because she was convinced Bose was the best. For comparison, I had installed a $300 multimedia computer speaker system for her son a few months prior. the $300 system put these things to shame. if you do a little research, you learn that bose is basically radio shack quality speakers with nike level marketing. i suggest you do your research before paying for a fancy ad campaign.
- Lets face it, you want to spend your hard earned money on something that will sound great and last for a long time. I agree with most reviewer that the price is too high, but I think the quality is great. I actually have a 6.1 receiver that hooks these speakers up and the additional Bose center speaker. I've had these for 3 years and they worked great, even after 3 different moves across the country. I have almost everything hooked up by fiber optics to my receiver for the best possible quality. Trust me their is a difference between, optical and analog quality and it obvious whenever I listen or play something on TV. Even still to this day when I watch a movie or play a video game I swear I'm hearing something outside or in the house, but its just the sound from the speakers.
Also if you know someone in the military, they sell Bose at the PX/BX(Post/Base Exchange). I got mine there and it was cheaper and tax free.
- Like what the other guy said if your room is around 20x15 and you want to keep speakers 'virtually invisible' this is for you. You buy it, try it if don't like it return it.I have been trying it and so far it's delivered upto my high expectations. Not only does it sound sweet and I feel like sitting in a live concert, or movie theater it cost me less than here also;) In B Js the package (AM15 series 1 silver+samsung HT DS610B receiver+5cd/dvd changer) for 950.I earlier thought samsung receiver/dvd player must be trashy but it's working okay and I could wait till HDMI-adaptive Onkyo (TX SR604 in particular) comes down to 200s (its right now 400).In one word I'd describe my HT as incredible.bose delivers! (for what it is known)
- I HAVE HAD MY BOSE AM 10"s THE SYSTEM PRIOR TO THIS ONE ALTHOUGH THEY LOOK IDENTICAL, SINCE 1996 AND I MUST SAY THE SOUND ON MY SURROUND SOUND THEATER SYSTEM STILL MAKES ME JUMP WHEN I PLAY A DVD WITH EITHER D T S OR DOLBY 5.1 ........ BOSE ALTHOUGH THEY MAKE VERY EXPENSIVE SYSTEMS REALLY OFFER A PRODUCT THAT WILL LAST YOU THROUGH THE YEARS. AND IF YOU READ CNET OR ONE OF THE OTHER ONLINE REVIEWERS YOU WILL NOTICE HOW ALL THE OTHER WANNA BE SPEAKER MANUFACTURERS ONLY COMPARE THEMSELVES TO BOSE, AND NO ONE ELSE I WONDER WHY????????
- I own this from last one year. I did research from Infinity Beta series, Atlantic Technology, KEF, M&K ...many others. They sound great but they are bulky. If you want similar performance and nice look (Virtually invisible) yes, Bose is the way to go. I hooked up this to my Yamaha RXV 1500 THX Receiver. It shakes.
This is definitely NOT Radio-shack quality.

- For what I paid, I got a great speaker system. I love the fact I can hide it behind a vase or a plant, etc. You can mount them on the wall, but I thought they would be more obvious that way. I have had them for about 2 years, and I get great theatre sound from this set. Definitely add a subwoofer to these though, because they are not meant for low bass.
- I purchased four of the speakers a couple of years ago for Dolby Digital.I had not been aware that the 3 piece system was out there.I now own 7 speakers, all with good power handling capabilities.I'm ready for 7.1 when and if the software emerges.I enjoy cranking up the volume and watch Pink Floyd concerts and these smaller but robust speakers ...they hang right in there.Definitely happy with them...

5 comments about Polk Audio RM6880 5.1 Home Theater Speaker System (Set of Six, Black).
- I have used this system for some 6 months and have found it to be an excellent system. The base is solid and tight. My Onkyo 7.1 receiver in 5.1 surround does a fantastic job of providing a surround experience that is far superior to many of the theater-in-a-box systems. I am considering addint two additional RM101 speakers to give this system it's full 7.1 capability. You won't be dissatisfied with the sound quality and the price is reasonable.
- This is a great sounding system! I would definitely buy again. The subwoofer is a little large but it sounds great. I also highly recommend the Polk SA2 speaker stands. They are made for this system and include all the hardware you need. The speakers sound best at the height set by the SA2 stands.
- Last holiday season, I wanted to gift myself a good home theater system. Though I started from some home-theater-in-a-box system, I quickly decided I get much better quality by buying a receiver and speakers. Once I made that decision, and set my budget $1000, I started searching again. After reading many reviews at different website, I first made up my mind on receiver Onkyo TX-SR605 7.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver (Black) (I wrote a lengthy review for it, but cant see it anymore at that page - anyway, that is another excellent future-proof buy). Once that was done, I started searching for speakers for about $600. Though an AV enthusiast friend of mine suggested Polk speakers, I first bought a Boston Acoustics Horizon Series MCS100 System Midnight Speakers, again based on internet reviews. That fit the budget well, but after installing it, I found that the sound wasnt great. The bass was boomy, and the surrounds/center wasnt any better either (mine is a 35x15 recroom). So I returned it, and bought this RM6880. I am so glad I did. The bass is just right for my recroom (at half-way setting of the powered subwoofer), and the surrounds and center sound so great. The lows, mids and the highs sound so real to me. I am not sure if I hear every single frequency between 20-20KHz, and I dont care. But trust me these speakers sound so good(as I said I am no audiophile, but I do know when something sounds good).
About the speakers, there are 4 identical satellite speakers, a center and a 10" powered subwoofer. The speakers and subwoofer are 130W peak (65 normal). I can now fill my 35x15 room with a volume setting of 50-60 and subwoofer setting of 50%. At volume level 90 the room literally shakes, so I havent taken it above that.
The only negative about the package was it didnt come with speaker wires (the MCS100 did). If you dont have your room already wired, get some cheap 16-guage wire - I bought (100' Spooled Speaker Wire) and I could feel a huge change in sound quality (compared to some 18 gauge I bought from Walmart).
Also, the subwoofer does *not* have a regular subwoofer jack. This was not a problem for me, as I have the subwoofer connected to the front speaker port of my receiver (following the tips on Polk's website - which, btw, is a must read, regardless of which speakers you buy).
Guess there is no AV setup that satisfies all. For someone who wants to hear realistic sounds (and effects), but who doesnt worry all that much a about a frequency that may or may not be dropped, this setup is great. I wont think of an AV setup for another 10 years for sure :)
- We recently finished our basement, and moved our "real" home theater setup down there. We still wanted something in our living room, however, so I purchased these speakers to go with an Onkyo receiver. They are small enough to make my wife happy (even hanging on the walls around the room), and have great sound for their price and size. The subwoofer is oddly shaped and *big*, but kicks out a good amount of bass if you crank it up. I prefer my music balanced, so usually keep it fairly low.
I used the included wallmounts, which had plenty of flexibility for my scenario. I put the anchor in to hang the speaker from, then marked where the "cable hole" is on the bracket, drilled down into the drywall at an angle, and ran the cable into the wall from there. Worked out quite well - cable's not visible at all.
- Great sounding speakers, very clear and the sub packs a very nice punch. Speakers are very good quality and you will notice as soon as you pick one up by the weight. I did a lot of research before I decided on a set of new speakers and I am very happy with this set. I bought a refurbished set from their factory online store (ebay) for $320.00 - not bad at all.

3 comments about LG LHT764 - Home theater system - 5.1 channel - silver, glossy black.
- I bought this system as part of a package deal so I had read that the sound was not great. those reviews are correct. the sound is OK but not great. subwoofer sounds distorted as volume increases. The issue I have is that it says that it upconverts DVDs to 1080i or 720p. They don't tell you beforehand that the feature only works on non-copyprotected DVDs. The user manual mentions it but the specifications on websites and even LG's own specification pdf file does not. So I couldn't upconvert Blade Runner, but Pirates of the Carribean Curse of the Black Pearl will upconvert. SO now I am not sure which of the 300+ DVDs I own will upconvert.
Also, the DVD changer makes a lot of noise and is slow when you open/close the drawer.
- I bought this surround sound system after purchasing a samsung 40 inch 1080p tv. Wow this thing sounds great. I have it hooked up with a optical audio cord and it sounds amazing. I bought it from best buy for 250 and it is a huge sound for a little price. I have my xbox 360 hooked up to it also and every grenade thrown in halo sounds perfect.
- Overall, this unit is a great entry level all-in-one surround/dvd system. I do have issues when using the digital coax out to listen to TV in surround...for the first minute or so, the sound comes and goes, but after that it seems to work okay. Also, the digital optical port does not have enough friction to hold the cable in so it is basically unusable. The USB port is great for playing music. The upconvert is okay. The stacked tray changer is way better than a carousel, especially for those that have space constraints. This unit is only about 14 inches deep. Most carousel changers are around 16-18 inches deep.
