5 comments about Mirage NANOSAT Home Theater Speaker System 5 compact satellite speakers and a powered subwoofer.
  1. For anyone who isn't a hardcore audiophile, these speakers are the perfect addition to your home theater system. The sound stage is absolutely enormous and the sound reproduction quality is top notch. For movies, gaming, parties and your everyday listening, having a big sound stage is essential.

The vast majority of speakers are directional, which means you have to be sitting within a fairly small area to get the proper stereo reproduction. In many cases, if you listen to a typical 5.1 speaker setup, you can point to the speaker location. That is a bad thing and breaks the illusion of a realistic sound stage.

Because of the omni-directional nature of the sound coming from these little speakers, you feel like you are flooded with sound. But somehow, instead of feeling diffuse and messy, it feels like you can pinpoint every sound perfectly.

It's easy to spend far more on speakers, but it'll just be a waste of money. Buy these speakers and spend the money you save on buying a bigger television or a better quality receiver.

  2. I needed to keep a good balance between getting a system that I would be happy with, that didn't cost too much money & that wasn't going to be visually "obnoxious" according to my wife. Well, the Mirage Nanosat System MORE than lived up to all of my expectations, all of my needs and all of my desires! For this amount of money, you must buy this system.

  3. I have an Onkyo TSR605 receiver and I hooked up the Bose 10 speakers versus the Mirage Nanostat and the Mirage satellites are much, much clearer; also my old Onkyo woofer that came with my previous Onkyo Home Theater System produces much cleaner bass than the Bose (I started to get a headache with the Bose subwoofer because it was almost always booming when it shouldn't be and it was a muddled bass instead of a clean bass). I tested both with a movie (The Incredibles) and a concert DVD (Sarah Brightman). The Mirage Nanostat is about $500 without a woofer and the Bose 10 is $1000 but even if they were the same price, the Mirage is much clearer and won't give you a headache like Bose's subwoofer. For those who complain that the Mirage Nanostat center channel would be better if it pointed at you instead of the ceiling, I turned it so the speaker faced me to get a slightly louder sound or you could turn up the center channel and lower the rest of the other speakers but if this isn't good enough, I also hooked up the Bose center speaker and it acoustically matched the Mirage Nanostat speakers so you could always buy the Bose center speaker separately for $200. The Bose 10 speakers are going back to Best Buy tomorrow. I wish I could change my rating to 5 stars but Amazon won't let me change it.

  4. I've had my Nanosat system for several months now, and I think I've finally spent enough time with them to write a review that does justice to this system.

Overall I would say that these speakers are a good value. They look very cool, are built like tanks, and with the sub properly located, they deliver a top notch movie and music experience. The sub has excellent, powerful bass. (people with a high pile carpet should possibly put a pad or something under the sub because the down firing speaker moves so much it will probably hit the carpet on louder bass notes) The satellites have crystal clear and highly detailed highs. I've been listeneing to a lot of old favorites, and it's almost like I'm hearing them for the first time again. I've heard nuances that I'd never noticed in the hundreds of times I've listened to them before. As far as sound quality is concerned, the limiting factor seems to be the recording quality of the movie or cd... For the first time I can actually hear a difference between DTS and Dolby Digital.

I have the Nanosat 5 system plus 2 extra nanosat speakers setup in a small (approx 12x14) room in a 7.1 configuration. The speakers are connected to a Yamaha RX-V659 7.1 receiver which I bought at the same time as the speakers, so I had no prior experience with the sound quality of the receiver with any other speakers. All of this is connected -initially with 7.1 analogue and then finally digital fiber optics - to my PC which has a Creative Labs X-Fi Xtreme Gamer soundcard.

When I decided to get these speakers, I had read tons of reviews online. Most of what they said has proved true, so I'll try not to rehash what others have said. There are a few things you may also have read about these speakers that I would like to dispell. I had heard about the 'cloud of sound' these speakers supposedly have that makes the room sound somehow bigger... Maybe I just don't have enough experience with higher end surround sound to recognize what they're talking about, but I don't hear it. They do, however, have the amazingly seamless soundfield that the speakers 'dissapear' into that people have raved about. It's something that has to be experienced to believed. Some people had written that this 'cloud of sound' made the pinpoint possitioning of sounds a little less distinct. Maybe... but to me everything sounds convincingly located and very detailed. Maybe it's just not as evident in 7.1 vs. 5.1.

A few reviews said something concerning volume with the center channel speaker. The center channel volume is fine. I've never had a problem hearing dialogue. My center is mounted a bit lower than all the others (it sits on a pedestal behind my monitor about 6" above head height while all the other speakers are mounted on the wall about 16" from the ceiling facing down), but I don't really think that makes a big difference.

Another thing that I'd read was that these speakers -need- the sub to sound good because the speakers don't have much bass. That is somewhat true. Bass without the sub is undeniably weak, but not aweful. I have a full 88 key keyboard hooked to my pc, and without the sub the speakers can cover the full piano range no problem. The real problem is this: sounds below a certain frequency may be more or less non-directional, but this sub covers much higher pitches than that. It's a fact that makes subwoofer placement very, very important. It ruins the surround effect when everything lower than a certain pitch seems to be coming from the corner of the room where the sub is, especially when that pitch is so high relatively speaking. This is definitely this system's weakest point, and keeps me from giving it a full 5 stars. I found that placing the sub behind something to break up/ disperse the sound a little helps a great deal, but the way I've solved this problem is by putting the sub under my desk basically right in front of me facing straight at me, but I realize that isn't an option available to everyone.

I have had a little trouble with the sub electronically. The sub would pop every time I touched the volume knob when I first got it, and then one day I started noticing this low grating noise coming from the sub. The problem turned out to be dirty contact points on the volume knob. I solved it by turning the sub off and turning the know back and forth a bunch to wear off any crud built up on the contacts. I haven't had a problem with it since, and it doesn't pop when you mess with the volume knob any more.

Volume on this system seems adequate for a small room, but I wouldn't put it in anything much bigger than what I have. It may be that the receiver -and not the speakers- can't handle the volume, but it certainly doesn't seem like my setup could handle much more.

If you buy these, the one thing you absolutely, positively need to know about these speakers is that they need some break in time...especially the sub. When I first got this system, I was a little dissapointed. Sure it was better than the Creative Inspire 6.1 speakers I had, but was the improvement worth several hundred more? After about 2-3 weeks things began to smooth out. The improvement was remarkable.

  5. For the price, this system is spectacular. The build quality is excellent. The design is cool. And the sound is great. Unfortunately, I think the price is good only because Mirage is almost always on the verge of going out of business. Omnipolar technology is still non-existent in mass market outlets.

In the best listening position, these tiny speakers sound just as good as the B&W and 3a speakers I was using. I used to pursue hi-fi nirvana, but now I think good enough is good enough. What is amazing about these speakers is that when you hear the speakers from another room, human dialog is eerily natural, as if a real person is actually speaking in the next room. This aspect of omnipolar speakers is of course well publicized from people into alternate speaker technologies. However, for my ears at least, this 'unusual' property does not seem to stand out as much, or at all, when I'm listening seriously in the perfect position, and when listening to music.

Still, these speakers don't cost more than conventional speakers. So why buy inferior technology when you can get ominpolar technology for the same price?

4 comments about Energy 5.1 Take Classic Home Entertainment System (Set of Six, Black).
  1. I have recently purchased this system paired with a Denon AVR1508. And all I can say is WOW!

I originally purchased the POLK RM705 package, and kept them all of 2 days, brought those back and got the Klipsch Quintet III paired with the KSW10 subwoofer, on both systems all the satellites' did was nothing but scream at you and the subwoofer distorted at low to medium levels regardless of what I threw at it, music or home theater (KSW10 not quite as bad). Needless to say they went back as well, I know I am picky! I was going to give up on the 5.1 package and go get bookshelf speakers or towers.

However ENERGY has changed my view on the 5.1 kit! ENERGY has also made very nice high end speakers for a while now, which have always been very efficient, crisp and clean, and they have done it again! Music and Home Theater purely sound superb! The satellites' do not scream which helps the subwoofer compliment the overall sound, hence not missing the mid range. This helps in accomplishing the full sound that I believe we all desire.

I do only have one small complaint. I do have to turn the subwoofer down when jamming normal music (stereo 2.1) or there will be slight distortion from the subwoofer, however for the money and the fact the 5.1 systems are pretty much entirely designed for movies... top notch! And a slight turn of the knob once or twice a year when the time calls for really cranking up the volume, not a huge issue!

As far as home theater no subwoofer issues there! The subwoofer produces extremely clean, tight, deep bass, which makes any explosion or thunder shake the couch. The satellites' in any listening configuration are absolutely unbelievable, clean, clear, crisp, enabling you to hear fingers actually sliding over the guitar strings as they are being strummed, incredible!

Do yourself a favor and go listen to these if you are in the market for a 5.1 system and make sure to bring the check book as you will need it, I did!

I hope this helps as this is a fairly new HT system and there are not a whole lot of reviews out there, but the ones that are, seem to agree with mine!

  2. the take classic 5.1 system is the best surround sound system I have owned the satellite speakers are outstanding and nothing comes close to the capabilities of the sub woofer

  3. Well, I brought this set 1 month ago. Works very well. The speakers r small and unobtrusive. The sound from the drivers are excellent not tinny as u might expect. The speakers r made in china for anyone who thought they were made in canada. I guess ow they keep costs down. The binding posts can accomodate 14g wire and r compatible with most speaker mounts. I broke them in for 1 week playing them continuously, they have really opened up. Good dynamic range, no tonal coloring, no artificial frequency push, pretty neutral overall. low distortion on the sub( the 8inch sub matches well with the small sats- larger sub might have left a frequency gap) I have been into audio for 20yrs now, and have owned or do own items from cambrige audio, arcam, b&w, paradigm, tannoy, Jmlab, marantz, mission, classe', sony ES, dennon, onkyo etc. While not in the league with full bookshelf or tower speaker setup, this is a good compromise for people wanting excellent sound for the money and unobtrusive design. Before i bought this i looked at similarly priced polk, jbl, infinity and yes even the bose am6 ( usually i dont go to best buy- but this is a bedroom system for me and i didn't want to spend bucketloads)This was the best- the jbl sounded flat/fat whilst the infinty, polk was pushy in your face car stero like. The am6 was very disappointing, it lacked bass. ( no powered sub u see) even with wall enhancement in a corner the bass was weak for my bedroom.
go out and buy it! it wont dissapoint u.

  4. I bought the Take Classic system 5 years ago (It was called Take Five then) and am happy to report it has been fantastic. The price has been cut in half (due to the move to China manufacturing) since then. These are great speakers and have not blow out or buzzed or anything even in Arizona 120 degree heat. Highly recommend.

5 comments about Cerwin-Vega Cvhd-5.1 Cvhd Series 6-Speaker Home Theater System.
  1. I purchased these speakers some months ago and have found them to be truly outstanding for the price with a bit of tweaking. It is most simple. The sub-woofer problem for me was simply based upon the wiring in my home creating a grounding loop, so at the urging of CW's engineers who were very easy to reach and helpful, I hooked the sub isolating the ground wire from the wall plug and there was never another problem with the speakers! Great sound through the entire music range for classical, I listen to choral, symphonic and for movies from THX Raiders to Lord of the Rings to Pirates. Could not recommend more highly especially as I purchased for under $600.

  2. I purchased this in October 2007. I originally ordered it from a different online retailer that was unable to fulfill the order due to a supplier issue. After searching around, I decided to order it from amazon. I had the free prime membership at the time and got free 2-day delivery. That is significant because the box ways about 95 pounds. Needless to say, 2-day delivery with any other seller would have cost a fortune. I also ordered two additional "satellite" (hardly small) speakers to hook up a 7.1 system. These were ordered from another merchant through amazon and took a considerable amount of time to receive.

My setup consists of an onkyo tx-sr605 receiver and the cerwin vega speaker system (with the two extra speakers). The sound is really awesome. My old system was a different onkyo receiver with onkyo speakers and they couldn't compare to how the cerwin vega system sounds. My living room is fairly large and opens into the dining room and kitchen. There is a considerable amount of space for the speakers to fill with sound. The system does so with ease. As others have mentioned, the sub woofer is awesome. It easily provides as much bass as you could ask for. It also fills our large area easily. I have had the volume cranked up and the speakers sound like they were designed to be played that loud.

I'll clarify a few things about the system. First, the center speaker CAN sit on a table easily. The bottom of the center speaker has a flat area and comes with rubber "feet" to allow it to sit flat and sturdy. I have my center speaker sitting in between the feet of my plasma stand and it fits perfectly. I purchased some stick-on cork pads for under the center speaker instead of using the supplied rubber feet. I just wanted a smaller gap between the speaker and the table top.

The mounting hardware is heavy duty. The mounting plates also come with plastic drywall anchors. I did not use them. Instead I bought some from the hardware store that are designed to hold 40 pounds each. I got lucky and only missed a stud on 1 out of 4 speakers so I only needed a few of the drywall anchors.

I have my front left and right speakers mounted to the wall. The center speaker is sitting on the tv stand. The surround speakers are mounted to the speaker stands that you must purchase elsewhere (check other merchants on amazon). The surround back speakers are also wall-mounted. The sub is in the corner of the room. I used 14 gauge wire to all of the speakers. I used a single LFE cord to the sub so I can not comment on the speaker-level input. When I ran the auto speaker setup with the receiver, it came up with the recommended crossover rates that cerwin vega says to use (with the exception of the sub). This tells me to stick with what cerwin vega tells me to.

About the only hangup I had was with the banana plugs I purchased. Since I didn't have the speakers with me when I ordered the plugs, I didn't know if I needed anything special. As it turns out, I did. If you are using the wall mounting bracket, there is limited room (depth) for banana plugs because if they stick out too far, the mounting plate will not fit properly. The banana plugs I purchased are too long to use with the mounting plates. So..if you are planning on using banana plugs on the speaker end of the wires (recommended), make sure you buy some short plugs. Mine were long brass and just won't fit. They work great for the center speaker since I am not using the wall plate and for the receiver end of the wires. I believe monster and a few others make a shorter plug that I will need to try.

Hopefully this review is helpful. As others have mentioned, do not buy these speakers for the $1000 that other places charge. I may have been able to save a few bucks buy elsewhere but I wanted the speakers to come from a reputable seller in case I had any warranty issues. As I mentioned above, the box weighs 95 pounds so factor shipping into any price quotes you find.

  3. For Christmas this year I treated myself to a new sound system to go with my new 50" plasma tv. My first encounter with CV speakers was back in the mid 70's and I got hooked. I've bought nothing but CV ever since. My old surround sound system was a 5.1 CV system from about 10 years ago. So I checked their website, saw their new system and without reading a single review or anything else about them, I bought them without hesitation. I also bought 2 additional surrounds for a 7.1 system.

To power these badboys, I bought the Onkyo SR705 receiver. From watching blu-ray movies with the lossless sound encoding's, to listening to the TranSiberian Orchestra, this system rocks. And I like it loud and thundering. My living room is 12'x22', which coincidently is the perfect recommended room size from Onkyo for the 705 - 2000 cubic feet, and the highest I turned up the volume so far was 83. After listening to 2 or 3 TSO songs, I started to feel a little nauseous from the concussion of the sound. I loved it!

I had a somewhat major issue with the subwoofer. I was getting a hum when the gain was turned up. Did some research, did some tests and found the old 'ground loop' issue caused by the cable TV line. Bought a filter that was recommended by a couple of sites and presto, the hum was gone.

The other issue was the speaker stands. CV has their stands for $150 for 2. I needed 6 so I was looking at another $450. Not insignificant. Since I have the woodworking tools and the know how, I made my own. I used an oak baluster for the stem with a saw kerf down the back to hide the wire. Cost me $150 in material.

  4. After having a Bose 28 system for a little while (and being very dissatisfied)I Sold it and bought the CVHD system & a Yamaha RX-V861 Receiver. What a difference, the bose system might be fine for someone without any concern over audio quality or tone def, But the CVHD system sounds unbelievable at any sound level. One word of caution this system will ROCK your house, So as the other reviewer stated if you live in an apartment this system will get you evicited in short order (its hard to resist not cranking it up LOUD). The only con to this system is the speakers are pretty big & are only offered in black (I'm going to paint the rears white).

  5. I went with these speakers because I used to have Cerwin-Vega car audio equipment and Concert speakers. They have always been very impressive to say the least. I am happy to say they did not disappoint. I have my CVHD 5.1 system hooked up to an Onkyo TX-SR605S. The pros of this system are that it sounds every bit as good playing music as it does playing movies. It sounds very good at high volume. This is one of the only systems in its category that I could find that comes with a 12" sub and it really makes a difference. The speakers are big and noticeable, which I like, but I can understand some won't. The only 2 cons I can think of are that the speakers come with no stands so they do have to be wall mounted and the sub tends to have a ground loop issue. I overcame the ground loop issue with one of those 3 prong to 2 prong converter things. Given that is not the best idea it is the cheapest and easiest fix if you experience this issue. Another issue I have read about on this site is that the sub shuts off at low volume. This is true but can also be easily resolved by turning up the sub output on your receiver and the volume down on the sub itself. So in closing, you are getting some awesome sound from a company with a history for amazing audio equipment in all fields, for a reasonable price. I love the set I have and would not trade them for anything. In fact I plan on buying 2 more satellite speakers and making my system 7.1. Do keep in mind there is a reason they call themselves the LOUD speaker company!

  1. These speakers will blow you away! Amazing surround sound in a small package! No need for speaker stands and speakers cables all over the place, these 3 simple speakers will give you all the surround sound you need. Amazing quality and very easy to set up too!

  2. Good sound system, although I'm not sure it's worth the money. I've had one other sound system (surrond sound KLH) and while I'm not dissapointed with this system, it's just not the same. BUT, the sound is good and the setup is simple. There aren't a lot of connections to make and the look is clean and nice. So if you're looking for a good sound system that makes installation easy and seamless this one is for you.

  3. I wanted something to enhance the sound system on my Sony Bravia 46" LCD HD TV. I didn't want to go all the way to a surround system for a number of reasons. The Cinemate solved my problem. The voices are much crisper and understandable and the background sounds and music are greatly enhanced. This system works best if one follows the instructions for set up. It is very important to turn off the TV sound and set the sound out on the TV to Fixed. If a TV can't be set up this way full advantage of the system may not work. This is the best sound I have heard yet without going all the way to a full surround sound system.

The Remote is one of the best universal remotes I have used. I have the Bose unit, my TV, a Cox DVR HD cable box and a LG DVD/VCR player all programed and working on it.

  4. I've read many reviews on the Cinemate System and a lot of them put this system down, but I LOVE the sound quality and the bass the system puts out! Its true that there are no adjustments in bass or treble but i don't think it needs it, everything sounds crisp and clear. The only thing that I have to get used to is not seeing the volume show up on the TV when I'm adjusting it. Near Flawless Sound!!!!!! I also got the Bose speaker stands and they are great, also hides the wiring very well. I used the setup CD to get started and it was very helpful, but most people can probably set it up on there own. It only took a few minutes

  5. I have owned quite a few high-fidelity and/or surround-sound audio systems over the years, and am quite impressed with the sound quality and decoding ability of this Bose Cinemate system. It is simple to setup and operate, and gives me consistently accurate, 5-star sound.

The source is my LCD TV's system digital sound out, which gives me a choice of optical or rca cables. This is perfect for the Cinemate for a couple of reasons; one, the Cinemate recognizes a digital signal through the rca leads, and two, this allows me to use my TV as a source switcher, between HDMI, S-Video, 720p, VGA, etc. and the Cinemate automatically recognizes the source and decodes accordingly with it's "Videostage 5 circuitry with active equalization". This means it "delivers a home theater experience from almost any source. CDs, VHS tapes, and even mono TV programs that weren't recorded in surround sound will sound lively and room filling". I would have to agree.

I have read in other reviews that the bass module is lacking, but I would suggest they put it against a corner perhaps? Maybe its because my TV has an un-amplified digital output, but when the source has intense bass (iTunes, DVDs, xBox), the bass is plenty loud in my 16' x 20' listening area, and it is exceptionally clean as well.

The only controls I ever need to use are the on/off and the volume. It has a great pre-programmed universal remote, but it doesn't work for any of my unique components, so for that and the fact that it only gives you the single input (I would love to hook up an FM tuner without the TV, for example), I have to downgrade my rating by a star.

But these are minor concerns; you won't find better build or sound quality, or ease of use, anywhere else for the money in my opinion. I can't imagine trading this for anything else; I might upgrade the TV, but this sound system is a keeper!

  1. Looks good, sounds good. Was everything I expected considering the price taht I paid.

  2. for the price of these speakers its worth the investment...they make all the difference in the world when watching movies, they make you feel like you are in the movie.....

  3. the little speakers are horrible - broke when dropped and terrible sound. the only thing worth the money is the subwoofer....it still works and it great...but the other speakers suck!!!

  4. This is a great system for the amount paid. It will get you a basic 5.1 functionality, then can be upgraded piece by piece later.

  5. I purchased this in December and made the mistake of not setting it up immediately. When I discovered the subwoofer was defective (in Feb), it went to the local JVC-approved service center and has been there for the last 4 months.

Even for the mere $60 that I paid for it, I am not pleased.

  1. I purchased the JBL CS6100BG Home Theater Speaker System for my bedroom. Overall, I've been really impressed with the quality of sound. The subwoofer packs a powerful punch. Installing the wall brackets for the rear channel speakers was really simple. It took me about 15 minutes. This system comes with fixed and adjustable brackets for the rear channel speakers. I used the adjustable brackets. It also comes with a wall bracket for the center channel speaker. One thing the product description doesn't say is that this system does include speaker wire for all 5 speakers and a 15' subwoofer cable. The speaker wire is black #18 gauge with polarity coding. The only negative thing about this system, which really isn't that big of a deal, is that it doesn't include wood screws needed to mount the speaker brackets. I highly recommend this system for a bedroom or a small to medium sized living/family room. For a large room, I would go with bigger speakers.

  2. I can't say enough about this speaker system. You can tell that JBL took great care in construction and sound quality. The mounting brackets are top of the line and the speakers are surprisingly solid for the price. I replaced my former JBL tower speakers with this set and I haven't looked back since. Great product from JBL as always.

5 comments about Boston Acoustics TVee Speaker System (Black).
  1. I bought the Boston Acoustics TVee Speaker to pair with my Panasonic TH-50PX75U which I put in our bedroom. It's a great no-fuss solution to add full sound without having to run wires everywhere (a must in the bedroom).

The soundbar is a simple and clean design that fits well with the black colored tv. I have it sitting on a shelf right underneath the plasma. From taking it from the box, to setting it up and operating it with the remote took 5 minutes. BA got that part right for sure. Soundwise, it is clear and crisp, and decent bass from the woofer. It's not full surround, so if that it what you are looking for, don't buy this. But for this price range, there isn't anything comparable that gives you a solid upgrade over the small underpowered speakers of a flat panel display. Being able to program your tv remote to control the TVee Speaker is a huge bonus. Mine programmed exactly as the instructions said. That being said, there are two quirks that can be a little annoying:
    1. If you manually control the volume using the volume buttons on the soundbar, or use the ones on the tv, the volume could get out of sync with the remote (e.g, the tv thinks the volume is turned down all the way, when it's not on the bar). The easiest way to control for that is to either a) make sure your speakers on the tv are turned off, or b) always use the remote to control volume
    2. I find you have to be within a range of 10 feet or so in order for the remote to control the volume of the soundbar. The remote works the tv anywhere I am in the room, but only the soundbar if I am within the 10 ft radius. Since I sit in bed 12 feet away, I have to lean forward to control the volume.

    Pros:
    - Great look (for the soundbar)
    - Solid sound for movies and tv
    - wireless sub woofer allows you to hide it easily (needs to be plugged in)
    - 100 watts of power, so good for medium sized rooms
    - Very easy set up
    - Uses your TV remote, so don't have to add another remote to your collection
    - Powers on and off with the TV, so don't have to turn something else on

    Cons
    - Remote quirks (see above for details)
    - Subwoofer looks like an upside down trash can (but I hide it under the bed so not a big deal)

Over all, I think it's a solid performer for the class, and a great solution for better sound than the tv for medium rooms. I wouldn't get this for my home theater room, that requires something more powerful and full surround capability.

  2. This product performs as expected with one exception: The infrared sensor for the remote requires me to be closer to the unit than my seating position allows. Other than that, it is excellent. It has great sound, increased bass, and generally improves the entire viewing experience.

It is not surround sound, but if you are researching and paying attention you already realize that. If you did not already realize that, you have serious comprehension problems and do not understand what I have written anyway.

  3. Boston Acoustics is the most unresponsive company I have ever dealt with. The speaker will not change volume unless you hold the remote within 3 feet of it. I have made eight calls to the company and not been able to talk to anyone and they don't return a call. After three days they finally responded to an e-mail. They told me how to take it apart and change the lens over the infrared sensor but warned me that is was a little dangerous.
This apparently is a known problem which they shipped anyway. Because of their lack of response, I am returning it.

  4. This product has good speakers and puts out better sound than the tv has but, the sound volume is very uneven. When you set the voice volume to an acceptable level the digital sound effects and background noise is way too loud. I hooked it up to a Sharp Aquos HD flat screen with 1080 resolution. I tried all of the adjustments that the instructions gave but nothing changed. The bass unit being wireless is a good idea but I could barely turn it up, it was so over powering. I set the digital noise filter to high on the TV but it did not help. In B A's defense I don't think its all their fault. The sound on todays TV transmissions is chaotic. They make too much use of digital electronics sound effects and send them too loud. I also think the cable company is very lax: I E the commercials coming in much louder than the programs. It is a shame because it is a decent product that just can't work in this enviournment.

  5. Bought this product to enhance speakers in a newly purchased LCD TV. DIdn't want to get a full blown home theater system, and this unit with the wireless woofer seemed the perfect solution. But, it has now been returned as the remote control of the speaker sound and mute feature failed to work from my easy chair about 10 feet away. Seemed to work fine when I initially trained it to respond to my TV remote, but then I was only 4 to 5 feet away from the unit. That seems to be the range for accurate response. Can not recommend this item unless you are using in a compact setting, or that you know your TV connection supports volume adjustment. Would have been nice to have more connection options to the unit.
