  1. This is a pretty good system. I love electronic "toys", but I am not super high tech savvy. I needed a new surround system because my old one (total 150 watts!!!) crashed. I also wanted one that I could plug my PS2 into, because God Of War kicks quite a lot of butt in surround sound. Got it fairly inexpensively (with shipping, I think it came to $[...]. Set up was NOT easy, contrary to what I've read elsewhere -- it took me forever to get it to surround sound mode -- was having trouble with the back speakers being mute until I clicked it over to "multi CH SP" or something like that. Sounds simple, but it really wasn't. There is a slight hiss for the speakers that major tech guys will probably find annoying, but I don't really notice it except when there is a moment of silence, like between commercials or whatever. The instruction manual was not very helpful, but I finally got everything hooked into it, and I'm very happy. DVD's/CD's sound AWESOME on it, but you may need to adjust so that the bass is a little louder than the factory settings. The funny thing is, I haven't played my PS2 on it yet, but it should be just as good as DVD's. So overall, very happy with the system!

  2. I bought this set for my parents who're not sophisticated users, but want good sound quality for music and movies. After comparing more than 10 different sets, the HT S3100 was probably the best I could get in the price range. The installation is fairly easy. Overall sound quality is great, although I wish the bass could be a little for stronger. It doesn't have HDMI port, but that's probably why the price is highly competitive on Amazon.

  3. For the price and simplicity of setup, you can't get any better. The sub leaves much to be desired, if I was to do it over again I wouldn't have gone with passively powered. Speaker build and sound quality are better than any other <$300 dollar system I have ever heard.

  1. Has anyone used this system? I am very interested in buying to it go along with my 50 inch Samsung Plasma and wanted to hear some feedback on the system...anyone got any reviews?

  2. I bought this system from amazon because the product description said it had an HDMI Input and Output connection.
There is No HDMI input! In fact there are no video inputs at all.

I wanted to connect my HD cable box to this system, then have one cable out to my HD TV. I never set up the system or even removed the speakers from the box. As soon as I saw it did not have an input I returned it.

  3. Love it.. love all Samsung stuff actually, well accecpt for the annoying confirmation bleeps that the TV's make when turned on and off. This produst is really nice and classy though. I use mine in the horizontal position and it looks great with the Tv and stand. I have a large great room type area and it fills the area with sound just fine. Picture is gorgeous on my 720hd. It is just what I expected it would be. Thanks Samsung and Amazon!

  4. This is at best an inconvenient system to use and at worst it is unmanagable. I should have investigated this system more closely prior to purchase, but for the price I assumed it would have bass and treble controls. It has none and the bass is often times overwhelming. The display is inadequate and to see "normal" info (track, time, etc) displayed you need to have your TV on.

It also has major input/output deficiences. For example the only other audio output is the headphone jack which silences the rest of the system.

This is my first Samsung product and I am extremely disappointed.

  5. I was looking for a simple surround sound system for my Samsung LN52a650.
After much research I chose this system because of price and simplicity.
I was not disappointed the sound is very good. The "anynet" feature works
OK with the TV but doesn't turn on with it, have to use it's own remote.
It does turn off with the TV. Regular DVD movies look great between this
player and the TV. If you have a lot of other things to hook up to a surround sound system and want all the bells and whistles, keep looking.
but for something simple this unit works fine.

  1. I bought the Philips FWD798 for my bedroom and I loved it at first. The sound is excellent and the dvd play back is also very good. But I didn't even have it for a week before I returned it to Amazon. One thing I didnt like is that when I am listening to a song and if I want to start it from the beggining again, when I press the "back" button on the remote it doesn't start from the beggining of the song but rather skips back to the previous track. That gets anoying very quickly. Another thing I didnt like was the excess amount of speaker noise that was coming from the center sound speaker. And other thing that got me upset about this system is that when it was off or "system stand-by" it would make a soft fast pace ticking noise. Now according to Philips that wasn't normal and they wanted me to send it in for repairs, but I said the heck with that, I just want my money back. But I do have to say is that the sound sure was great and it has tremendous bass. Who know's, maybe the one I had was just plain bad to begin with.

  2. Not a good product. Recommend Sony products. This product produces ok surround sound and ok stereo sound. But the subwoofer on this item is a joke. The subwoofer face fell off as i was taking it out of the box, and it produces a distorted sound that i dont think anyone would enjoy.

  3. The Phillips FWD798 is a good fellow for the TV. My entertainment room with this Mini Hi-fi System is a great manner to see the movies in HDTV with sourround like a cinema.

  1. If you want bang for your buck sound, look no further. I am a recording engineer and producer and purchased these speakers to use in the entertainment/ theater room in my studio, they are wonderful. The dynamic power and focused sound is unmatched at this price point. With the THX certification you know your not just buying speakers, you're buying a theater experience! I matched these up with the Onkyo SR805, and boy does everything sound great. Stop shopping around. I was initially sent a malfunctioning subwoofer, I emailed C.A. and they sent me a new one for no charge, even let me keep the old one to try and get fixed at a local shop! have fun with this system! -Graham

  1. For my purposes, (ie: home use without attracting the cops); this speaker system works just fine. I could complain about the way the subwoofer doesn't take a direct subwoofer line -but who cares? This is a decent product for a fraction of the competetor's prices.

  2. This system is great for the money. It provides a stong sense of bass despite the sub woofer being in line with the front speakers. One thing I didnt like was the weak center channel. But overall, its great for a bedroom.

  3. This system is unbelievable! The sound emmitted from the 4 sats just totally threw me for a loop when I first hooked them up. I expected to get what I paid for (which was not very much) but instead, I feel like I got a $500 set of speakers. The sub was even adequate. I've owned Jensen, Sony, and Yamaha, but from now on, KLH is the way I'll go. Great job, KLH!
