5 comments about Boston Acoustics TVee Speaker System (Black).
  1. I was dissapointed with the TVee. Although it wasn't touted as a theater-type system, I expected more. The volume is decent for medium size rooms, but don't expect to be blown away by it's sonics. Treble is practically non-existant. The sub woofer has little, if any kick. It even lacks in sterero seperation. the only good thing I can say about it is that it sounds better than the TV speakers.

  2. The BA TVee is an improvement over my flat screen tv speakers but not as good as I'd hoped. I'd say the sub is under powered but does fill in the base some. The soundbar is a bit better than the flat screen's but again not remarkably so. Also had to remove front screen in order for my remote to work. I've had BA speakers before and am less satisfied with this purchase than my other experience with them. It is the only system at a reasonable price point, BA's ususal sales appeal, available but not with their ususal quality. I'm moderatly satisfied with the system, therefore I can only give it 3 starts.

  3. Wanted surround sound for my wife, who is hard of hearing, but couldn't bear the thought of six speaker boxes, with wires, in my living room. This was a low-cost alternative to the Polk Audio and Yamaha products. I'm happy with the results. You don't get the separation of a 6-speaker set, but the sound is really good with 5.1 sources. I buried most of the wiring in my wall, so the wiring is very clean - only a couple inches of cable between the TV and speaker bar are visible. I have recommended this product to my friends.

  4. I bought the Boston Acoustics TVee Speaker to pair with my Panasonic TH-50PX75U which I put in our bedroom. It's a great no-fuss solution to add full sound without having to run wires everywhere (a must in the bedroom).

The soundbar is a simple and clean design that fits well with the black colored tv. I have it sitting on a shelf right underneath the plasma. From taking it from the box, to setting it up and operating it with the remote took 5 minutes. BA got that part right for sure. Soundwise, it is clear and crisp, and decent bass from the woofer. It's not full surround, so if that it what you are looking for, don't buy this. But for this price range, there isn't anything comparable that gives you a solid upgrade over the small underpowered speakers of a flat panel display. Being able to program your tv remote to control the TVee Speaker is a huge bonus. Mine programmed exactly as the instructions said. That being said, there are two quirks that can be a little annoying:
    1. If you manually control the volume using the volume buttons on the soundbar, or use the ones on the tv, the volume could get out of sync with the remote (e.g, the tv thinks the volume is turned down all the way, when it's not on the bar). The easiest way to control for that is to either a) make sure your speakers on the tv are turned off, or b) always use the remote to control volume
    2. I find you have to be within a range of 10 feet or so in order for the remote to control the volume of the soundbar. The remote works the tv anywhere I am in the room, but only the soundbar if I am within the 10 ft radius. Since I sit in bed 12 feet away, I have to lean forward to control the volume.

    Pros:
    - Great look (for the soundbar)
    - Solid sound for movies and tv
    - wireless sub woofer allows you to hide it easily (needs to be plugged in)
    - 100 watts of power, so good for medium sized rooms
    - Very easy set up
    - Uses your TV remote, so don't have to add another remote to your collection
    - Powers on and off with the TV, so don't have to turn something else on

    Cons
    - Remote quirks (see above for details)
    - Subwoofer looks like an upside down trash can (but I hide it under the bed so not a big deal)

Over all, I think it's a solid performer for the class, and a great solution for better sound than the tv for medium rooms. I wouldn't get this for my home theater room, that requires something more powerful and full surround capability.

  5. This product performs as expected with one exception: The infrared sensor for the remote requires me to be closer to the unit than my seating position allows. Other than that, it is excellent. It has great sound, increased bass, and generally improves the entire viewing experience.

It is not surround sound, but if you are researching and paying attention you already realize that. If you did not already realize that, you have serious comprehension problems and do not understand what I have written anyway.

5 comments about JBL CS480BG Complete 6-Piece Home Theater Speaker System (Black Gloss).
  1. I was looking for a set of surround speakers that were both small but also gave punchy, crisp sound. After a good deal of searching, I decided that the JBL CS480 speakers were the best deal. Set-up was easy, with both cables and brackets provided (you'll need to have screws if you're planning on screwing the brackets into a wall).

First of all, the sound is great. I hooked them up to an Optimus professional series reciever. I have no complaints. I've been trying them out on different movies and music and everything sounds good. Secondly, the brackets to hang them on a wall are very good-easy to set up, and they look good too (the speakers and the brackets). The sub is powerful; I haven't turned it up past 3/4ths but that is more than enough.

I would recommend these speakers for someone whose room is not very large--they are relatively small and unobtrusive and blend in well with the room. The sub also looks nice. Good purchase.

  2. We just have this system set up, paired with Denon AVR 787 receiver and Monster cables. Not sure how much cable adds to it, but definitely a good receiver is a must for this speaker system to playback perfectly. The sound is pheonomonal. The sound is deep and rich, with layers and details. It is not overtaking the movie if the movie is not loaded with sound effects. We have tested with Movies: Shrek, Chicago, Matrix, Nemo. Each one of them is played very nicely. It is definitely cinema quality sound, much better than the bose 5.1 system I listened to in the store. It also enhances your movie experience by so much that you feel like watching a new movie discovering scenes you never discovered before. For example, I never noticed the water was so clear in Nemo, now I feel it, all because the vast calm water sound of the ocean.

Excellent! I would recommend this system to anyone!

p.s. To listen to music, make sure to connect with a CD player (not a DVD player), and use 5 channel stereo, otherwise, the sound will not come out right.

  3. Let me start by saying that I couldn't be happier with these speakers. I did my homework when it was time to take my 6 year old HK SAT-TS2 5.1 system off the wall and make the next step toward turning my living room into a true cinema. Although I have the 6.1 capable Sony receiver and Blueray player (AKA PS3), I decided to stick with a 5.1 system due to the size limitation of my living room (13x16). My room was already wired, but the system does come with speaker wires and subwoofer cable. Another bonus are the two sets of speaker brackets. This system includes fixed (uni-directional swivel) and pivoting brackets for all the speakers. I also liked the departure from the spring clip connectors. These speakers have quality screw terminals that can handle a 10 gauge wire. The only issue I discovered was that the fixed bracket for the center speaker may create a short between the speaker wire terminals. A little electrical tape solved the problem and I was finally off to the races. HD TV, Dolby Digital 5.1 movies, and PS3 games have been raised to a new level with this system. Zero buyer's remorse!

  4. Just bought these speakers and the sound coming from them(with a PS3, HDMI set up, 46' LCD, capable of lossless audio and 7.1 surround sound) is just unbelievabe, clear crisp sound, im loving them. Great speakers!

  5. These speakers are an incredible value for the money. They sound good, look good, and make it easy for newbies like myself to get a good sound system for under $1000.

  1. I BOUGHT THIS SYSTEM A WEEK AGO FROM 6TH AVE ELECTRONICS, WHO DID WHAT THEY SAID THEY WOULD DO AND DELIVERED ON TIME, I GOT IT ALL HOOKED UP ABOUT 2 DAYS AGO. I HAVE TO SAY IT IS A GOOD BARGAIN FOR THE PRICE SO FAR. IF YOU ARE AN AUDIO HEAD LIKE ME THEN YOU WANT OT CONSIDER BUYING ANOTHER CENTER CHANNEL SPEAKER RIGHT AWAY, OR A DIFFERENT SYSTEM. I HAVE AN ONKYYO 705 THAT IS THX CERTIFIED AND I USED THE AUDISSEY SPEAKER SET UP TO CALIBRATE THE SPEAKERS. THE RECIEVER IS 5 STARS, BUT THE CENTER CHANNEL OF THIS SPEAKER SYSTEM GETS DROWNED OUT BY THE REST OF THE SYSTEM. i HAVE TO BALST MY SYSTEM TO HEAR WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING, AND ICAN NOT HEAR EVERYTHING I USE TO ON MADDEN 08 WITH MY OLD SYSTEM. TO PUT IT SIMPLY I REPLACED A $300 ALL IN ONE SONY 5.1 SYSTEM. I CAN HEAR MOVIES AND VIDEO GAMES MUCH CLEARER WITH A SYSTEM THAT COST AS MUCH AS THESE SPEAKERS COST. i BOUGHT THIS SYSTEM TO START OUT WITH UNTIL I REPLACE IT WITH A THX CERTIFIED SPEAKER SYSTEM. I READ MANY REVIEWS AND WAS DIDSAPOINTED WITH THE OVERALL SOUND. THE REST OF THE SYSTEM SEEMS GOOD. I WILL KNOW WHEN I BUY A NEW CENTER CHANNEL SPEAKER JUST HOW GOOD IT IS. I AM RATING THIS AS A 3 STAR BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW IF IT IS JUST THE CENTER CHANNEL OR THE SYSTEM. I WILL KNOW IN ABOUT 3 WEEKS WHERE IT IS REALLY RATED. I ALSO THIN IT IS A 3 STAR BECAUSE OF THE FALSE ADVERTISMENT ON ONKYO' S PART. THE SUB IS ONLY 130 WATTS AND DOES NOT SOUND ANY DEEPER THAN THE 50 WATT SONY SUB THAT CAME WITH THE $300 RECEIVER AND SPEAKER SYSTEM I BOUGHT 4 YEARS AGO. ALSO THE FRONT SPEAKERS ARE MAGNECTLY SHEILDED. THIS IS A GOOD SYSTEM FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS NEVER HAD 5.1, 6.1, & 7.1 SOUND SYSTEM. I WISH SOMEONE WOULD HAVE WROTE A REVIEW LIKE THIS BEFORE I BOUGHT THE SYSTEM. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR SHOPPING.

  2. The sound from these speakers is awesome. I was never big on movies until I got my Onkyo 605 and these speakers. What a difference! The only reason I gave it four stars is becuase they are very big and heavy.

  3. These speakers are awesome with Onkyo TX-SR605 7.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver (Black), I adjusted the EQ to an audio CD and the sound is amazing for movies as well. Plenty of sound as long as you know how to set them up right. I was amazed with the size of the speakers. This is my first 7.1 system for home theater, but I have a stereo in my car that is pretty amazing by itself. But the Onkyo setup is awesome when watching movies, gaming, or music. The speakers give a great all around sound and I am glad I bought them. Only problem I have is that people sleeping get woke up.

  4. You can purchase better speakers than the HTIB Onkyo SKS-HT540. Of course, if you're looking to upgrade your home theater to 7.1 and are on a budget, the SKS-HT540 is a gem. Easy connection, especially if using an Onkyo receiver and the sound is pretty good for the price you're paying. The speakers look good paired with an Onkyo receiver, plus they look nice with an HDTV 40" or larger. The center channel is strong which is a great plus for dialogue. The bass isn't the strongest available, but it's strong enough for small rooms. (ie: 16x13 or smaller) Setting the speakers properly through your receiver will make all the difference in the world. If you've hit the correct setting and pop in 3:10 to Yuma on Blu-Ray, the incoming train near the end scene will make you feel like you're standing at the train station. Now that's a true plus!!!!

  5. Once you realize, Home-Theatres-In-A-Box (HTIBs) just won't do because their sound quality is mediocre at best, you realize that separate speakers and AV receivers run the gamut from reasonably expensive to unbelievable. And buying 7 speakers and a subwoofer can quickly cost you over $2000 dollars. When I was looking at putting together a home theatre system, I wanted an AV receiver with future compatibility that was also fully featured (I settled on the Onkyo TX-SR605). For speakers, I wanted reasonably priced quality. Despite the fact that these speakers were originally part of a HTIB they are of surprisingly good quality for the price.

The Onkyo SKS-HT540 7.1 speakers are neither stylish nor ugly. They are functional looking with black wood grain cabinets and removable covers. I like their looks because they are classic and not flashy. I wanted quality over looks. When it comes to low-to-medium priced speakers, stylish looks usually mean a drop in performance and sound quality. These speakers don't try to look trendy, they just produce great sound. If you're going for styling in your speakers to match your decor, look elsewhere.

Another feature of the Onkyo SKS-HT540 speakers is that they are large. And I mean large. These would not be too small to be used in a huge great room. I have them in a cramped little apartment, but I love them anyway. You need large speakers to produce fuller, deeper sound and these have no trouble doing that.

The speakers are well made in that they have wood cabinets. Read up about materials and you'll learn this is great; most HTIBs and speakers at this price are usually made with plastic cabinets. The Onkyo SKS-HT540 use spring clips as connecters, which don't give the best possible sound, but few speakers in this price range offer banana clips.

Overall, the Onkyo's give surprisingly clear, deep, and rich sound for the price. These are very affordable speakers that give great sound. Sure there are speakers that give better sound, but they will cost you over a $1000. These speakers are the best quality sound you can get for the price. (And Cnet agrees. Check out their review.) They are powerful and the sound they produce is realistic and varied.

I use my 7.1 system to play video games on my XBox 360, PS3, and PC gaming system. This is where these speakers really shine. Few DVDs or Blu-Ray discs take advantage of 7.1 yet, but many games do. Guns and explosions sound insane! on these speakers. I mean it. The subwoofer is huge and provides plenty of sound for a room of up to 800 sq feet. I've heard musical instruments I didn't even know were there in my music while listening on these speakers. I'm an audiophile and I'll admit there are much better speakers out there, but not for anything near this price. So if you want an affordable surround sound system these speakers are it. Get them now.

Oh and the included subwoofer cable is kind of short (8ft). I bought an extension for about $5. Very worth it.

  1. Good looking and sounding speakers for price. I was looking for something that was relatively streamlined (no bookshelf space in room, have kids so speaker stands would present too much of a knock over risk, didn't want bulky speakers on walls), yet sounded decent and didn't cost too much. If I had more money I would have went with the orb speakers - but on my budget these are great until a few years down the road and I can upgrade. Center and fronts are good, back and surrounds are only okay unless you have a very strong receiver. I have an Onkyo at 75W.

  2. I had a friend over who has Bose 3-2-1 speakers in his living room and when he clearly and loudly heard birds chirping behind his head he became instantly jealous. For the rest of the night, every few minutes when he heard the clear sound effects coming from the back speakers he commented on how cool it was and that he was ticked he went with the bose speakers that didn't give him these effects. The speakers really do a good job. If you watch a movie with explosions you will feel the rumble of the subwoofer and hear the glass wizzing past you and shattering all around. It really is cool. I'm no audiophile and probably couldn't tell you the difference between two sets of good speakers, but I do know a good set when I hear one. This definately is a good one and the price makes it so much sweeter. I love these speakers! They're great for movies, video games (call of duty 4, with grenades blowing up all around really showcases their potential), and music. You will not be dissapointed with these speakers.

  3. I have had these speakers for a few days and they work great now that I have my system set up correctly. I have an Onkyo TX-SR805 7.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver (Black) receiver and a PlayStation 3 80GB which I use to play blu-ray movies.

For several days I was quite disappointed with the surround sound. To get the speakers to perform I used a CD player and set my 805 to "All Stereo". The speakers filled the room with sound. They sounded really good, but obviously lack the rich bass of larger speakers. That's why I didn't give them 5 stars.

I wasn't too happy with my purchase at this point. Surround sound was still very weak. The back speakers were barely audible in THX or Dolby Cinema mode and I certainly didn't feel surrounded by sound. Having read many other reviews, I suspected my PS3 settings were incorrect. The audio output was set to Linear PCM like everyone said. However, there is another deeply hidden menu under Sound Settings | Audio Output | HDMI. The system defaults to Automatic mode which sets the system to two channels. You must select Manual and then the highest Linear PCM 7.1 settings.

Once I set that, I was practically blown out of my chair. I put on the blu-ray version of Pearl Harbor and went to the attack scene. The room shook and I could hear the deep rumble of the planes shooting across the room. The sound is comparable to being in a modern movie theater. Now I am very happy with my purchase of these speakers.

  4. Do NOT buy 1-2 year extended warranties with these speakers, they already come with 2 year warranties. An incredible kit.

My Onkyo HT-240 speakers arrived today, and i was like a kid in a candy shop. When putting together my entertainment center, I wanted speakers that would take advantage of my 1080p samsung 46 inch tv, plus my playstation 3. So, video was ready, I just needed sound.

I initially was going to go for basic speakers/tuner, but after reading up on the various models, decided to spend the extra money for a nice Onkyo tuner and theater speaker kit.

The first thing I noticed right off the bat was that the speakers came in one HUGE box. You need to be around to sign for these people, its not something any company is going to drop off on your porch if you aren't home. After opening the box, I noticed right off the speakers were packaged like a tank. Quality packaging. The bundle was insulated by foam siding all around, and banded together into one big foam package. Nice and tight to take any abuse during shipping.

I also have to agree with many other reviewers. The cable speakers that come with the Kit are ok, but you really want to spend a little extra and grab upgraded replacement cables/wire. But only do this after you have everything up and running just in case you are satisfied with the sound. The speakers were also larger than I expected. The small ones a little over a foot high, the mediums about 1 1/2 foot high or so. 4-5 inches wide. Solid.

This is a 6.1 speaker system so match your speakers to your receiver for best compatability. The Center speaker sadly only comes with a cheap plastic base holder, doesn't even attach. The 2 front speakers come with great solid metal bases which do attach. The center one should have came with something decent. Oh well. The smaller surround speakers (3) have no bases. The subwoofer is HUGE. Its a fine piece of machinery. Enjoy it.

After hooking everything up and sticking everything where it goes, I sat back and enjoyed some of my favorite DVD's. Yeaaaaaaa.

Enjoy your speaker Kit. For only 3-400 dollars you won't find a better set of speakers period. All the hype is worth it, and the speakers are worth it. Why don't you have them yet!

  5. Great speakers for the price. True, these speakers aren't going to shake-up your intestines nor break your window glass, but they do provide a sweet sound for an excellect price/performance ratio. The separate speaker stand seemed a bit pricey but, like other Onkyo gear, it's all well built and integrates very well like "hand in glove." For my taste, I've cranked up the sub-woofer a bit and love it - IMHO, definitely the best part of the package.

5 comments about Polk Audio RM6750 5.1 Channel Home Theater Speaker System (Set of Six, Black).
  1. This was a great system. It was easy to install and produce rich surround sound. The woofer really added to the richness of my music and gave my DVD collection quality it didn't have before. It certainly made my home theater system shine. Thank you.

  2. I bought the Polk RM6750 speakers after listening to my dad's polk system for the past 10 years. These speakers have excellent build quality that you would expect from Polk Audio, and a great sound. If you go to a place like Best Buy and look at the home theater in a box systems you will never find as quality of speakers as these Polks. If you want an awesome sounding 5.1 channel surround sound system for the same price as one of the fore mentioned home theater in a box systems I would suggest that you buy these Polk RM6750 speakers for $230-250(whatever it may be that day) and the Onkyo TX-SR505 7.1 channel receiver for $190 with free shipping. This killer combo is much better than anything that you can find in a bundle and works especially well if you already own a DVD player. Also, if you ever want to upgrade to a 7.1 channel system you can always buy two more satellites(RM6751). A really cool feature about the TX-SR505 is that it has Dolby Digital Pro Logic IIx which converts any 2.0 source such as a non-HD TV station to 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound(whichever you have). Another great bargain that I found on Amazon is the Monster Cable XPHP 12 gauge speaker for $60 (MSRP=$130). All put together this system sounds great in my living room and I'm so happy that I spent my stimulus check on it.

  3. I went to a few of the local "big name" stores to evaluate speakers and came away pretty impressed with the sound quality of this group. I was hoping to find a good quality system at a good price, so having found the system, I got the good price through Amazon. I set everything up and tested it out. I was definitely impressed and happy that I chose the Polk speakers. Music was rich and vibrant; television and DVD sound was crisp and free of any interference or background noise. To provide a frame of reference, our system is comprised of an Onkyo TX-SR605, an OPPO DVD (981HD), a Toshiba 46LX177, and an APC H10 power filter/voltage regulator. The Polk powered subwoofer is plugged into a Monster subwoofer power filter. Speaker setup was easy using Onkyo's Audyssey feature. By the way, all the speakers and the sub were shipped in one box, which was well-secured and arrived safely.

  4. Quality sound for the limited space...These small speakers pack a powerful punch. The sound of action films shake the walls and impact makes you feel like you are really there. Excellent speakers for the price!

  5. They are awesome...watching saving private ryan right now on them and its like Im on the battlefield

  1. Bought these speakers on sale for $199.00 and am blown away by the sound quality. I have them running through an Onkyo TX-SR505 that I also bought on this site and am very pleased. I also added a simple Sony 100watt sub I recieved from my brother and cannot believe the quality and clarity of sound you get from such small speakers. The system is set up in a room 15x15 and is more than ample in performance. My brother came into town this weekend when I was setting the system up and he said it easily compares to the system he has set up in his basement with Bose speakers. I do not claim to be an audio aficionado, but I do appreciate good music and home theater experiences. If you are looking for a great mid level surround system sound, than these speakers are for you. An absoulte steal at $199.00!!!

  2. These Klipsch speakers are built of a high quality, sound real nice also,I am very pleased. Irene.

  3. This is my first real surround sound setup, but I know quality when I hear it.

Just bought these along with a Velodyne VX-10 sub and a Onkyo SR605 receiver in a 7.1 setup and they sound great. Center is nice and clear for dialog, rears are excellent for sound effects, and the left and rights are loud enough to hear transitions.

I watched The Matrix lobby scene on HD-DVD and it was intense with these speakers.

I had some problems with getting the ball-joint stands to stay where I wanted to, but they worked out in the end. I am happy they came with the ability to mount right out of the box and didn't need another part to accomplish this.

  4. As a brand, Klipsch has an long-standing reputation, and this set is no exception...

The second in what is now a three-generation series, Quintet II represents a great balance of price and performance and is a great choice for those who are willing to invest in a slightly older, but still great, set of speakers. The fact that they have been supplanted by a newer series has served to drive the price down considerably, until they become scarce, which I would assume will drive the price back up...

They occupy a notably small and flexible footprint, incuding wall-mountability which allows a great deal of customization in whatever room you want to put them. I have seen them perform well in a larger room, but would conclude that they are at their best in a small to medium sized room. I personally have them in a living room in a 700 sq. ft. apartment, and they do very well in my space...

A quick technical note, these speakers will work well with most mid to high-range receivers available on the market that deliver somewhere in the 100 watts/channel range. I have them running with a Yamaha RX-V461 and they do quite well together...

Be aware, however, that this particular set of speakers DOES NOT include the matching subwoofer(or any subwoofer for that matter), which is required for optimal performance, but any worthwhile powered subwoofer should work well with these speakers. I can only attest to how well these work with the KSW-10, which is VERY WELL!

I recommend them for anyone who is looking for a great set of small speakers that deliver clear, big, sound and go wherever you want to put them!

  5. I bought these speekers from Acoustic Sound Design through Amazon and I am happy with the product and the service I recieved from both company's. I made my purchase based on the reviews on Amazon, these speekers replaced a pair of Accoustic Research speekers that were 15 years old, watching my old DVD's with the Quintet II is like watching them for the first time, I don't have a sub now but will get one eventually. My family room is 15 x 17 and these speekers fill the room with volume to spare.

  1. I recently upgraded my system with a new receiver and needed some new speakers to complement them. I wanted the Bose Acoustimass speakers forever but couldn't bear dropping a G on them. I also wanted to stay in the "bookshelf" size speaker as it suited my set up better. So I decided to try these for less than half the price of the Bose. I figured I could return them if they didn't thrill me. Short story....they did.

I was floored by the fullness of the sound. They hit the highs, mids, and lows like a champ. I like to use the action bits on Terminator 3 to test out new recievers and speakers and these really impressed me with a huge wall of sound. I knew they were good when I got excited while watching a movie I'd seen so many times before. It was almost like listening to it for the first time. I also popped in some cd's and I swear I heard things in some of my music that I've never heard before.

I'd heard those Bose speakers a dozen times at Comp USA and Best Buy and really do feel these are better for a full sound. The Bose do the highs an mids really well but not the lows. These are designed to be the total package with their horn/tweeter design and they certainly perform as such. They can actually be used without a subwoofer, which is good for people who don't like the booming and rumbling that subs provide. Klipsch suggest their own subs(of course) but I felt the price was a little rich for my blood, so I use a $100 Sony powered sub and it works just fine.

They look and feel like they're made from good quality materials. In fact, I accidently dropped one from 2 1/2 feet onto a wooden floor (oops) and it was completely intact without any marks and still works perfectly. The posts on the back of the speakers make speaker wire attachment a snap. You just unscrew the cap, the wire goes through the middle of the post, then you tighten the cap back down. No problemo. A great feature. They also make placement and mounting easy as you can sit them on a shelf, like in the picture, or flip the stand part back to mount on a wall. They also pivot to point in most any angle you'd want. The center speaker doesn't though.

There are only a couple of slight negatives here. The center speaker sounds a little boxey. It could use some more treble as it leans a little more towards the mid range. Since the majority of dialog comes from the center speaker, I wanted a little more sharpness. This is minor though and doesn't hinder the experience at all. The other is the balancing. Pairing them with my new reciever to find the best sound was a bit tricky. Again, these are very slight negatives and shouldn't deter you from looking into these fabulous speakers. I'm just trying to be as honest as I can here. I never once thought of returning them though.

Klipsch has a great reputation in the audio world and touts these as their best selling compact speaker system. These are a great deal for the price as they sound huge and like they should cost alot more. If you're starting to get serious about your audio for your home theater, there's nothing else out there that's gonna top these at their size and price. Believe me, I looked.

  2. I bought this from Ebay brand new for only about 359.00 dollars. What's nice is that even at a low volume you can hear a full range of sound. High end sound for a low end price. I'm sure if you have a very large living room you can stick all four speakers in the rear for 7.1 and buy a pair of large floor Klipsch speakers for the Front Right and Left. Perhaps a larger center channel if you're more than 10-15 feet from your screen. For my apartment living room these are perfect though. As I run on I should also mention that the built wall mounts are awesome! You can tilt the rear speakers inward if your couch is against the wall.

  1. I love these speakers. I purchased them recently to use with an Onkyo TX-SR805 receiver, and these speakers deliver! The bass is unreal...and the sound output is great. I hear things in movies now that I never heard before. I love these speakers and highly recommend them, especially at around $400 for the entire system.

  2. I have coupled these speakers to a Yamaha RX-V661 receiver. Just leave it to say this is a great combination. These speakers are fantastic. They are a great deal for the money.

  3. Speakers were a pain getting setup, but once all was in place the speakers have performed brilliantly. Subwoofer also has great power. I will buy harman kardon speakers from this point forward.

  4. I bought these speakers few months back. The quality of the sound is amazing. I have tried different speaker systems earlier; however, this is the best for its price. The bass for these speakers is very real and theater-like.. You do not have any choice but to appreciate it. Speaker system has great looks. Subwoofer is a little large.

  5. After reading many good reviews on this product from Amazon, I decided to give it a try. It turn out exactly what most reviewers said. The sound from surround speakers is very crisp and clear, the base speaker is awesome. Match the speaker with my old 80watts Denon receiver with sub output, this system makes my Bose lifestyle 38 sound like a second grade speakers. Installation is no harder than any other surround sound system outthere.
