- This remote does it all, it even worked my air conditioner in guest room. It has the RF function and with the RF extender this remote will work across the street once it is paired to it. The programing is a little intense but once you have your entertainment room setup you will never go back to the cheap universal remotes. I am very happy with this remote and it is excellent for the person who wants to have the lights dimmed, curtains drawn, and the projection screen to drop down automatically while turning on everything you need to enjoy your setup. I am amazed at what this remote can do.
Don't forget to buy the extender with this remote to work the RF function. Logitech® Harmony® RF Wireless Extender
I bought both from another site as a set and paid $285.00 plus shipping so look around first.
A must have for the person who has everything.

- This remote is the perfect gag gift or the perfect gift for that person who has everything. It is comically oversized, (which can be useful for those of us who can't seem to find the remote!) Also good for someone with poor vision since the numbers are SO LARGE!
I just want to let everyone in on a little secret, though...
Don't pay over $10 for this item online. I have looked on-line at several different places and it is WAY overpriced! I bought this last year for $10 @ a Rite-Aid store in my town. Dollar General also sold it for $10! I bought one this year, too for the same price. If you can find it in-store, do it, it'll save you ALOT of money.
- I got this as a Christmas present for my grandmother who's over 80 years old and SHE LOVES IT! She used to forget where she had left the remote control until now, she loves how big the number are and she didn't take my gift in an offensive way, i just don't want her to keep on losing her remote controls.
Highly recommended for somebody with the same problem as my grandmother :)
- This product is just funny and great for anyone who tends to loose their normal remote control. It was very easy to set-up and the instructions provided do very well at running you through it all. My girlfriend was very happy with it and still is.

5 comments about URC R7 Universal Pre-Programmed & Learning Remote.
- I bought this after doing much research, but nothing I had read indicated that it wouldn't be able to control my older Echostar satellite receiver, the DishPlayer 510 (DP-510). Many sources (including the manufacturer, URC) attribute the problem to the DP-510 needing a UHF remote. But the fact is that the DP-510 can be controlled by both UHF and infrared simultaneously (i.e., there is no mode or switch you set to tell the receiver which type of signal to pay attention to). I've been using this receiver for years using primarily infrared (via sensors and flashers) to traverse the three floors of my house.
Anyway, it appears that the DP-510 uses infrared signals at 57 KHz range, which this remote does not put out. I've ended up with a OneForAll 8820 remote, which is controlling my satellite receiver just fine, and which has at long last allowed me to have only one remote to control my audio/video setup.
- This is a fine, inexpensive remote that seems to work well but has minimal programming features. It does work all my equipment and most of the equipment features. One big drawback is the "One Button" on/off function. Once you program it to turn on/off the equipment, there is no capability left in the remote to turn off/on the equipment seperately. A rather big drawback if you are finished with one piece and not another or if one piece of equipment fails to come on.
- Had to send item back would not even programme anything! amazon does not even cary it any more so do not konw if I just got a bad one or what. I guess i will never know. bummer though sounded like a nice remote
- This was a Warranty response for this remote. It was handled in a responsible and timely manner. The faulty remote was replaced by a new remote. I was entirely satisfied.
- It has a good solid feel to it as other reviewers have said. I bought it to mainly replace an ailing tv remote, but it wasn't fully compatible with my tv. I had to program each button individually. This was a little difficult since some of the old remote's buttons don't work so well. Once I did this the remote works nicely. One thing I find annoying is that the number buttons are located toward the bottom of the remote instead of nearer to the channel and volume buttons.

4 comments about Pioneer CD-SR1 AVIC-Z2 & AVIC-Z1 Steering Wheel Remote Control.
- Works well, kind of in the way when you drive, but can be unclipped to use as a remote.
- So I just got my CD-SR1 remote in the mail. I set it (and my hopes) up, and was so horribly let down I couldn't help but bash it on the forum.
I THOUGHT it was RF, but it's IR. A steering wheel remote that requires line-of-sight? What??! And the IR LED's are on the bottom, transmitting straight down. When mounted properly on the steering wheel, it misses about 8 of 10 commands during the day (because of ambient light I guess), and maybe 1 or 2 of 10 at night.
I THOUGHT there would be some way to switch between the nav screen and the A/V screen using the remote. There simply is not. At best, you can use the voice command button, wait for the beep, say "display A V Screen" and wait for it to process. RIDICULOUSLY more clumsy than just hitting the AV button on the face.
I THOUGHT you'd be able to use the remote to navigate the bluetooth Phone menu or make a call. Nope. You can GET to the phone menu by pressing "Phone Menu" but all it does is take you to the same bluetooth menu you get if you hold the Z1/Z2's main MENU button. "Okay, well, at least you didn't have to take your hands off the wheel" you say. Wrong, because once you're in the menu, you can't actually NAVIGATE it with the remote. lol
It's pretty much only useful for changing volume and tracks, and answering phone calls ... assuming it gets the IR signal. I gotta say I'm truly disappointed. The Z2 is an amazing head unit, with add ons that allow it to do pretty much ANYTHING you might expect. But this... damn, what a poorly thought out POS. Crying or Very sad
- I bought one of these from Car Toys at the same time I bought the system. The first unit was not functional and I returned it. The second unit would work only sporadically. I returned it for a third unit, which worked like the second. I tried fresh batteries, no difference. I had Car Toys check the receiver but they could find nothing wrong. They verified that none of the three units would work reliably and took them back, no questions.
If, as another person has written, the units are IR rather than RF, I'm not surprised they work poorly. My opinion: Avoid this product. It's a bad design.
- not have good signal released from the steering wheel, I sent the model that I do not buy.is not the same as the image that appears on page

5 comments about Logitech Harmony 520 Advanced Universal Remote - universal remote control ( 966191-0403 ).
- After hubby gave the ultimatum out of sheer frustration of dealing with the confusing 4 remote set up we had, I finally went out and got the Logitech 520 remote. I've had my frustrations in the past with cheaper universal remotes - they could never do it all and we end up having to go back to the original remote. My concern with buying this remote was two items on our home a/v setup: Series 2 TiVo and our new ClearPlay DVD player.
Well, I got the Logitech 520 and we love it! The programming was easy, and even with extra tweaking to get it perfect, it was all so simple to do over the computer. The programming codes for TiVo and ClearPlay were included with only minimal work on my end. (I was so delighted to see ClearPlay codes! I didn't think it would be in Logitech's programming library.) Overall, I had the remote up and ready to go in less than an hour without having to hunt for codes or push buttons on the remote. (I did have to do some TiVo tweaks, but it wasn't hard.)
My first tests with the newly set up remote told me I was going to love this remote despite the tweaking that still needed to do. I click the "Watch TV" button, the TV goes on and switches to it's proper input, the audio center goes on and switches to it's proper input, and we were watching TV/Tivo - no problem! ) All with only 1 button push. I didn't have to do anything extra. (My TiVo is on all the time, so nothing is needed there.
Next, I clicked on the "Watch DVD" button. The TV switched inputs, the audio center switched inputs, the ClearPlay DVD player turned on. One button push and everything turned on and set to go! I'm seriously falling in love with this remote now.
I finally added "Play Game" menu to the remote as part of my tweaks, even if the our game system isn't remote controlled. It sets up the TV to play our game system without any fuss from us. Yay! More simplicity!
Press the power button and it all shuts off when I'm done. Ahh, so sweet.
When I demonstrated our new remote to hubby, he seriously cracked a smile on his face from ear to ear. "What a marriage saver!" he says. Oh, ok - rolleyes, but that was his stamp of approval on it.
Yes, we are sold on our new Logitech Harmony 520 remote and recommend it!
Pros:
- Easy setup. Programming via your own computer really makes doing this very, very easy. A real plus! No hunting for codes or pressing lots of buttons. Kudos to Logitech!
- Glow light.
- It does ClearPlay, TiVo, and whatever else you want to use it for.
- Buttons are easy to see, read, and understand.
- The remote is attractive.
Small Cons:
- Small learning curve to learn the remote and it's layout. (I'm not a 100% sold on the layout, but I know over time I'll get over it.)
- Until you have the remote tweaked out to the way you want it, you'll be going back and forth to your computer to program it. However, it's worth taking the time to tweak it the way you want it.
Is a pro? Or is it a Con?:
- Vibration sensitive glow light. After the remote hasn't been used in a while, a slight vibration will cause the glow light to come on. I'm guessing this makes the remote easy to find. I can see this as a bit of a battery waster if you don't plan to use the remote. I changed the glow light length time to 15 seconds to preserve the batteries.
Our A/V setup:
- Sony TV
- Sony Audio Control Center
- Scientific Atlanta Digital Cable Box
- Black ClearPlay USB Player
- TiVo Series 2 PVR
- Game System
- Excellent, and reasonably priced via Amazon. It might be difficult to program but the tech line will solve it and it's done. All these remotes are trainable and when a problem occurs, you click on "Help" and it asks questions, then carries out changes, and asks whether that fixed the problem, until it does. Fascinating.
- I'll keep this short and sweet. I have 2 points to make.
1. This remote feels cheap. When I press a button, the remote creaks as if it's about to break. Some of the buttons click when they are pressed, making it feel like a kids toy. Do not expect this remote to wow you AT ALL in it's craftsmanship.
2. I never have gotten it to work reliably. I have a Vizio TV and since buying the remote I've heard from users that Vizio TV programming takes some very touchy tweaking. Several users even said I would have to call Vizio and have them help me program it. The remote works on the concept of activities. These are essentially scripts: Do this, then do this then do this. Problem is, half the time, one of the steps doesn't execute perfectly and you're now left to either clean up the mess yourself or wade through the tedious help system on the remote.
My suggestions:
A. Buy a better, higher end model
B. Set it up and try it out immediately because you may end up sending it back.
C. You might consider skipping it altogether.
- The remote is easy to use but very difficult to set up. Requires good computer skills and a bit of tenacity. Back light is necessary to see the small buttons and all-in-all the screen is difficult to read. If this had a favorite channel feature it would have far more value.
- I am very pleased with this product, it is so nice not to have 6/8 remotes on the table to change all of the devices.

- Great in-wall speaker volume control. Nice and modern design. Only thing is that for some reason, my boxes do not sit super tight to the wall. I have it installed just next to the light switches, and this box sticks out slightly further than the adjacent electrical cover plates.
Very pleased with this product.
- These work really well and install in a matter of just a few minutes, I put three in my house and they look great and work great!
- Using five of these with five sets of built-in speakers connected to a media center with a 900 Watt Yamaha amp on low setting highly recommend this volume control. Easy install with wall cutout plate for easy mounting no outlet box required can be installed easily in drywall.
- I ordered this a few weeks ago, order went through, item described as in-stock. a few days later they cancel my order and give no excuse or anything. The order doesn't even show up in my amazon order history. Great service when they just wipe an order away as if it never happened. Don't risk it buying from these guys, you're just wasting your time.

- This lil' gadget really does work. Simply hold the mute button down until you see the TV mute, then quickly let go. Now you should have control of the television. Works on many of the TVs I've come across with the exception of a few here and there. The only problem is that sometimes it takes a little longer to cycle to the correct mute code. That's assuming if it has the correct code. Another person also stated it would be nice to somehow have the ability to upgrade the firmware and codes on it.
In any event, you're going to have fun with this thing. I've gone into banks, megastores, supermarkets, shops and dicked around with their TVs. Its just hilarious to watch a whole bank of Samsungs flick off at Circuit City.
- this is thge single most awesomest thing in the entire world great for turning on tv's at school!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- This controller is so great, it has worked on ever TV i tried, i use it in school all the time, no more announcements for my homeroom...5 stars
- Wake up the tv zombie. Turned off all televisions tried. Funny as get out the way people keep staring at the screen for that dull moment. First they are slack-jawed, confused and finally awake and p***** o**. Funny
- I havn't gotten the product yet, because the shipping takes a long time. I ordered shock gum and this remote at the same time from the same place,PA (but from different companies), and the gum got here four days ago.The remote still isn't here! So don't plan on getting your order soon, but the remote seems pretty awsome

5 comments about Philips PMDVR8 8-Device DVR and Audio Specialty Universal Remote Control.
- This just works. My old Replay TV remote was failing, and so was the remote for an older tv in the kitchen as well as the remote for my KLH receiver. I entered some codes and used the learning function and managed to get everything working. Follow the directions in the manual, which aren't as bad as some, and this thing will give you CONTROL!
I bought another one for the living room equipment, and this worked fine, too, except for a Panasonic DVR that has lots of oddball controls. I'll work on getting that remote 's controls programmed in the future.
Overall, I'm satisfied with the functionality and low PRICE of this remote.
- No universal remote is perfect, but for the price this one comes very close. No, it doesn't have all the fancy bells and whistles (and headaches) of the remotes that cost 10 times as much, but it does what it is supposed to do with a minimum of fuss and muss. I've done a lot of comparison shopping, and for my money, there is no other universal remote on the market that provides as much bang for the buck as this one does for the average consumer.
- Was able to program for most of my items and the learn feature works well. The response time from button push seems better than my last remote. The biggest weakness and what irritates me is that this is a "Phillips" programmable remote and there is no code for my "Phillips" DVR. I had to use the learn feature for all of the buttons.
- Pros
- Learning function works very well.
- It has all the buttons I need to control my dvr.
- You can't beat the price.
Cons
- Button layout isn't that great. I got this because I wanted to control a dvr. Unfortunately, most of the dvr buttons are at the bottom of the remote, and are not easy to reach.
- The button response is very slow. I would have given this remote 4 or 5 stars if the response time was as fast as the dvr remote from my cable company.
I probably wouldn't buy it again because of the response time, but for the price I had to give it a try.
- this is a very good item, it is nice to use only one remote for all of the units that i have to work with. the learning it has built in is some kind of great. and it don't cost no 400. dollars.
