4 comments about Pentax O-ME53 Magnifying Eye Piece for all Pentax DSLR Bodies.
- Improves the focusing when using my F1.7 manual lens. Manual focus is tricky when the depth of field is so narrow. Its never off the camera, I used it on all of my lenses. No problem seeing any information listed along the bottom when looking through the viewfinder. Some have complained about this. Not for me. Good upgrade for my K100d.
- The magnifying Eyepiece went on the camera and is not in the way. It works well with or without glasses. It is not a big power in magnification but it helps and it is better than the little rubber cup that it replaces. It is even more comfortable to use. I use it on my Pentax *ist DL.
- If you're using MF lenses, this is an invaluable upgrade to assist with focusing. I have no trouble seeing the display at the bottom of the eyepiece, and while I may not always see the entire field of view, it is very intuitive to look around inside the eyepiece and see everything.
- This fits perfectly, allows a complete view of the viewfinder information and aids in manual focusing. It also moves my nose just a little bit further from the back of the camera reducing the amount of 'nose-grease' that can accumulate on the screen. Highly recommended.

5 comments about URC MasterControl RF30 Universal Learning Remote w/ RF Capability.
- I have owned 5 different universal remotes in the past. This is the best hands down, very easy to program,it is RF & IR so you can use it anywhere. The other remotes I have used were hard to program and they always ran out of memory. I have 5 amplifiers, DVD changer, XM and a dish satalite reciever all in the RF30 and it still has room for more.
BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK
- Sturdy, good layout, well lit, very flexible. Takes a little while to program. RF works very well
- So far so good. I received the item quickly and have not had the time to configure it. Just this past weekend I started to configure it and so far so good. Working on the Macro part of it and I am sure it will be simple once doing it a few times. It is not as fancy looking as the3 Logitech remotes, but for the price you cannot compare.
- I bought this to replace my logitech harmony 628 remote. I was surprisingly impressed on how well I was able to do it on a rf remote under $100 (or even $60). Plus in the future, I will rewire and split the satellite from the living room to the bedroom where the RF feature will come in handy.
The customizable 8 touch-screen buttons makes it possible for me to use this universal remote.
Being able to have 5 pages of the 8 touch screen buttons for each components, makes it possible to add those unique buttons that are not on each kind of remotes.
I only have 4 devices: a tv, dvd player, hddvd player, directv sat. I set each "first page" of the non-tv with a "tv source" and "tv power" button. Such that, I can turn on/off the tv without having to go back to the TV commands in the menu.
pros:
cost, highly-customizable
menus are very simple: main->components (8 buttons per component on each page with 2 pages)->sub-pages (8 customizable buttons one each page; up to 5 pages).
cons:
the light button is amber - red, I am more used to blue from my other remote
cannot increase or decrease the "Main" pages. I want to hide the second page of components because I only use 4 right now, however, it is no big deal. I would also like to be able to add another 8, 16, 24, etc devices--but seriously, I do not have more than 10 devices in any room.
I currently do not know if I can copy a component to a different slot. I have wanted to change the layout and rearrange the components on the Main page, and having to re-learn some remotes makes it time consuming.
there is a max of 5 characters for each custom button label. (not really a big deal, you generally can abbreviate what you need.)
I would have liked a computer interface like the logitech's or something so I can edit the menus a little easier. But, the edit menus in this one is easy to use.
- I was quoted $399 and $349 dollars for an RF universal remote control with setup from my local Home Theater company. So I did some search on the web and found this control on Amazon for around $70 and purchased it. It was very easy to configure, it recognized all my components on the first try. The user's guide had very easy step-by-step instructions to setup the most common Power On/Off Macros and I only had to customize a few items, which was very easy. This was an excellent purchase, great bang for you buck.

5 comments about Roady Xt Remote Control.
- Product arrived on time as promised. It worked perfectly. The price was excellent. The price plus the shipping was still less than what other websites were offering the remote for. My girlfriend used the remote on a motorcycle trip to NC and she thought it was great.
- This remote control works well, right out of the box, with my XM receiver. I use it all day every day to dial around to channels. Style fits with the XM satellite receiver, and it's cheap. Excellent!
- The remote has a very limited range. YOu have to stand within 6 feet for it to work.
- I should have gone ahead and bought another home kit, for the difference in price I could have had another antenna, and receiver for listening in another location.
- Small remote. Cheap price. Works great.
Got this when I purchased Altec Lansing XM3120 Docking/Speaker System for Audiovox Express and Delphi Roady XT and it was worth the extra money. Makes it much more usable when I don't have to get up and go across the room to change volume or channels.

2 comments about Philips TSU9400 Pronto Universal Remote Control.
- The Philips TSU9400 is a very impressive remote control, capable of many things when configured correctly.
HOWEVER it is not a Logitech Harmony (I also own a Harmony 990) or another consumer targeted universal remote. This is neither a criticism, not a complement. This is targeted towards either AV installation specialist or very advanced users.
On the plus side it offers a large touch screen and enormous configurability. The device can be programmed to do almost anything using JavaScript. The configuration/programming tools are fairly good.
On the negative side, you may have to program the device in JavaScript or have to dive through huge databases of IR (infrared) codes for devices. Much of the database is not very easy to navigate. This is one area Philips aught to improve.
All in all, this is a very impressive remote, but count on spending a number of hours setting it up. If you are not comfortable writing some JavaScript you may be limited on what the remote can do.
Also check out the forums at http://www.remotecentral.com for more information.
- I am a professional installer and I have installed many pronto units for my clients. I have been installing prontos for over 10 years.
Pros:
The unit is nice looking.
It is ultimately customizable in that every icon, image, background, etc. can be customized with your own images. The display contrast is very good and there are a number of 'hard' buttons (soft buttons are the ones that are configured on the touch screen) to control almost any aspect of your home theater system. It definitely takes a day to program the unit (it is basically unusable out of the box as the pre-configured devices are for Philips branded AMP, TV, etc.)
Cons:
Complicated setup - Not for the novice. It will take over a day to get it working on your system (as you have to learn how to use their software to configure the device) and beleive me that explaning the options and how to use the unit to a client takes longer than actually programming the unit. The software does feature a 'simulation' mode where you can test your screens and navigation on the computer before you download the configuration to the unit via USB. The body of the unit is VERY Slick and slippery - it is coated with a clear epoxy that is very hard to hold and the unit WILL break if it hits your tile floor. Unsure about the battery life, but I expect it is a battery drainer with it's high-contrast display. The unit is quite large (not as big as the TSU-7500 in width), but still quite large. The current price on Amazon ($699) is not bad as the old discontinued TSU-7500 also used to cost $699. This is a much better unit than the TSU-7500. You will need a VERY solid flat surface on which to position the charging base and unit for charging (it is a little top-heavy when the unit is on the charger and tends to fall over if not set on a hard flat surface. The unit has a JOG dial, but you can only use it with their Media Server. The unit has built-in WI-FI and it works (you can even stream live TV to the unit's display (check out YouTube for sample videos)) and the RF Extender (purchased separately) will allow you to control devices even in another room.
All in all a good unit. I don't think I would own one myself as it is too big and too expensive to use every day due to potential for droppage/breaking a VERY expensive unit. I would rather own a $100 unit that if it drops and breaks, I won't cry over it. But as long as my clients can afford them, I will install them. The software is the biggest issue I have. It is complicated and unless you know what you are doing, it is nearly impossible to setup for the non-technical computer user.

5 comments about TV-B-Gone Universal TV Power Remote Control Keychain.
- I love using this TV-B-Gone at Wal-mart. All their TVs are always so loud. I sometimes give it to my grandchildren to shut the Department store TVs off. I have own this product for over two years and carry it all the time. The best part happens when you visit someone home and they don't shut the TV off - I do it for them. I can't use it at my own children's homes because they all know that I carry it. I use it all the time. A retired school teacher...TV-B-Gone Universal TV Power Remote Control Keychain
- I was giddy with excitement when this product arrived on a Saturday morning. Like everyone else who got this product, the first thing I did was press the button.
And wouldn't you know it, my TV (regular projector TV, probably 17-inch) immediately turned off--despite the fact that I wasn't even facing it.
Many moons and shopping trips to electronics stores, restaurants and grocery stores later, I've noticed a few things about it.
First, the design. I don't know about anyone else, but the device looked much smaller in the pictures. In my hand, its diameter is bigger than a poker chip and its thickness is a little much. Also, it's very light, which makes me wonder why they didn't bother making it smaller because this isn't an easy thing to conceal during use. The shell is pretty hollow so it makes a lovely clunking noise with all your other keys and nic nacs.
Second, the signal is not that strong. It works almost instantly if you're pointing it directly at a TV within 10ft. Outside of that, it could be a little tricky. I wasn't able to shoot from inside the pocket of my wool winter jacket, but works through my light fleece.
Another thing, this also turns TV's on, so if you're trying to clear out a rack of TV's at an electronics store, you may end up turning a couple on accidently that you've already turned off.
The huge 'but', though, is that when this thing does work--and it really does--you feel like Jesus. My favorite time with it so far was when I turned off a huge HDTV with these two guys playing Guitar Hero at a Best Buy.
I plan on going to the local sports bar with it during an important game sometime. (but that could be a problem since.. it's a sports bar and I don't like wearing a backwards hat)
If you have $20 to spend and love harmless mischief, I'd definitely recommend it.
- WOW! This product is amazing. It works on every T.V. I even tried it at school. Tv-B-Gone is a whole lot of fun! Trust me on this, you will enjoy it!
- Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1S6R54OCZ3V2L Here's a video of me using the TV B-Gone on a Panasonic Television.
I've used it on only three tv's at home so far.. On/Off Times below.
1 Second -Panasonic
2 Seconds -Samsung
1 Second -Westinghouse
Turns on and off tv's, does the job great so far.
It mute's my ipod sound system for some odd reason, but that's the least of my worries.
Longest range so far has been 25-30 Feet and worked fine on the Samsung.
Shipping was excellent and quick from Orion Telescopes, I totally recommend this product to anyone wishing to have fun.
- Works as advertised...but unfortunate that infrared doesn't work through glass...would be great to turn off the tv from outside the house.

5 comments about Phlilips SJM3151 Universal Remote for iPod.
- All in all a solid product. Easy to program. Easy to use. Operates smoothly, if not a little slow. I previously owned a DLO Homedock which developed a nasty tendancy of locking up and needing to be reset. I also like the fact that, unlike the DLO Homedock, the Philips Dock does not need to load in the info from the Ipod. No matter which family member is using the dock, it automatically displays their menus and playlists. With the DLO if a different Ipod is inserted you have to go through a process to load it's info into the remote. I also think that having replaceable batteries i the remote is a positive development. With the DLO te remote utilizes hard wired rechargable battery. Over tme it will lose its ability to charge rendering it useless.
Only a couple of minor complaints. When accessing the settings menu through the remote it does not allow for the changing of the EQ settings. A color display would also have been nice.
- I purchased the "Phillips SJM3151 Universal Remote for iPod" about a month ago and it works exactly like I hoped it would. I use it becasue I have speakers downstars and outside that are hooked up to my stereo upstairs - so I can plug my iPod into the stereo and use this remote anywhere inside or outside the house to adjust the volume, skip to the next song, change the playlist etc. All you do is plug it in, put your iPod in it, and start using it. I have an 80GB iPod (with about 70GB of music on it) and was thrilled that it connects to the iPod right away (you push the button with the iPod picture on it). The menu options are "Playlists", "Artists", "Albums", and "Songs". When I select any of these menu options my stuff comes up right away, even with 70GB. The screen displays 5 things at a time and you can navagate down (one line) or page down (next 5), which the unit does quickly. The screen goes blank to conserve battery life several seconds after using it. The remote feels solid and has a familiar layout. One thing to mention is that even though this is a Universal Remote, only the iPod can be controlled without "line of sight" to the unit.
I read that some of the other models have to import lists from the iPod when you first set it up. Reviewers of those models said this was a pain becasue it has to re-import when you add or change stuff or if you plug in a different iPod. Not so with this one - you just put any iPod in the dock and start controlling it with this remote.
One minor things I wish it did - I can't start the iPod playing without using the remote. This is becasue when you put it in the dock the iPod changes to that "ok to unplug" screen. Even if I start it playing first, it stops when you plug it into the dock.
To sum it up - simple to use, excellent quality, works like it came with my iPod, love it.
- I was at first disappointed with this product. It worked with my satellite receiver, my tuner, my TV, my DVD player -- everything except my iPod! After lots of plugging and unplugging of cables (and gnashing of teeth...), I finally contacted Phillips customer support. They recommended that I return the product for replacement. Amazon is amazing when it comes to replacing defective products. They shipped out a new one immediately, I returned the defective one, and now I'm controlling my iPod -- along with all of the other gadgets -- with one remote. Gotta love that!
- Let's dispense with the bad:
1) Could use a back light.
2) Better to think of this as a remote for your iPod, and not as a universal remote for all your other home theater equipment. If you need the latter, look at something like a Harmony remote.
Now with the good:
If you have a home theater system, plus speakers in other locations attached to the system, this is a great remote. I have a complicated home theater system, but I also have speakers in the back yard and in a reading room. The only time I listen to my iPod is when I'm in one of these other areas (if I'm in front of the main system I will play the better sounding CDs, thank you very much). This remote allows me to control the iPod almost as well as if the iPod were in my hands. Headphones stink. They either sound bad, are uncomfortable, or both. I can sit back in a comfortable chair, or by the pond, and listen to music over quality speakers, and not get my lazy butt out of the chair just because the record industry subjected me to another crummy song put on an album as filler (yes, I know I could take those songs off the iPod, but I have a large collection, and, as stated previously, I'm lazy).

5 comments about 8-DEVICE Learning Upgradeable Universal Remote.
- I've used the ONEforAll brand before and have been very happy with them. This one is the best so far. It was easy to program for my JVC DVD, Sony Surrround Audio Receiver , and Mitsubishi HDTV. There are macro buttons to record/play multi-command sequences. The BEST part is that any button on the remote can learn a function from the original remote that came with your product. After programming my JVC DVD player by trying all the included codes, I found that the play button didn't work, but all I had to do was teach the play button the code from my original remote by lining them up head to head, and then it worked fine.
- If you're tired of a stack of remotes on your coffee table, this is definitely one to look at. And don't be fooled by the low price! Other than the lack of backlighting, this should be able to run anything that has it's own remote. For me it's a stereo with 2 CD players, a DVD player, a VCR (yeah - still a bit lost in the 80's) and, thanks to the learning capability, it's running my television that there aren't any remote codes for. Even though I hadn't thought about before reading the reviews here, it's also handles my portable air conditioner. If you're teetering on whether or not to buy it, I say take the plunge. Awesome unit!
- This remote is perfect for me. I only really needed it for my TV because the one I had was starting to go bad (sometimes the buttons would work and sometimes not). It's cheap and works very well. Plus, it has an attractive design compared to many other remotes.
- for the price, it is a good purchase, would recommend for anyone that wants a reasonabile remote that learns !!!!
- I got the 10 device before the 8 device and must say I am impressed with both of them. It was programmed with ease. Learning of the remote is such a nice feature. I would recommend this to anyone that needs a good universal remote. Great thing is that it works with Dishnet as well as Directv . Having had Directv it was hard to find a universal remote that would work but this one did the job. The 8 device is much more comfortable in the hand then the 10 device which seemed a little big for comfort.

2 comments about Universal Remote Control MX-350 Osiris IR/RF Remote Control ( 8056 ).
- I bought two of these remotes with a pair of base stations for the two home theatres in my home. I have multiple components in each system, and custom built-in cabinets hide all the components except for the TVs. Since these remotes use radio frequency (RF) instead of (or in addition to) infrared (IR) pulses, I now can use my theatres while keeping the cabinet doors shut for a tidy appearance. They have multiple channels so it's possible to use many systems in the same home without interference. No PC is necessary for setting them up. There are some tips on the remote control forums online if you have a question not answered in the user's guide. Overall, worthwhile for an average user with multiple components -- especially if you need RF capability.
- The MX-350 is a great remote control, easy to program, good feel and the rf feature works great. The remote works with my old Radio Shack remote extenders. You have to go to the top of the line of Harmony to get rf.

5 comments about Universal Remote Control MX-850 IR/RF Aeros Remote Control.
- This is the second Universal Remote Control I have purchased. I originally bought the MX-800 and liked it so well, I decided to get another when I bought a new HDTV. The MX-850 is very similar but with a better "select" button. You have to be somewhat technicly inclined to set up and program the device. However, if you are willing to spend the time, you will find the control very powerful in what it can be programmed to do. It is very well made and has a good feel. These units were initially released before USB became the standard, so you will have to purchase a USB to RS232 convertor. They are not expensive and I have had no trouble using the conversion device. My MX-800 is also still in use for a second DVR/TV configuration. Both models use the same software.
- If you are a professional installer or plan to hire a professional installer then this might be for you.
I originally paid someone to install a home entertainment system and everything including the remote was working fine...
...until, I wanted to add a blu-ray dvd player. Getting something added to work with this remote is a major hassle. There is no online pdf available. To get the software, you have to register your remote and then wait...and wait some more until they accept your registration.
The apparent strategy of the company is to make this remote installer friendly. A regular joe is helpless with this. Therefore they gain the allegiance of installers to recommend and sell this product for them. Anyway, I had a guy out today to reprogram it, figured all of this out, and now will have to have him come back later in the week. Today is a Saturday so contacting the company was not an option as they were closed.
- I found the programming software easy to use. (Check to make sure the software ships with the unit or is downloadable.) Everything is laid out nicely and the customizability is fantastic! You'll need to buy a USB/RS-232 interface cable if your PC is a recent model that lacks a 90's-style serial port.
The one big gripe I have with this remote is that it guzzles batteries like a marathon runner in the Sahara. A set of four AAA's only lasts about 3-4 weeks, plus there's no low-battery warning before it stops working. When the batteries are almost gone, it will suddenly run a power-on self-test every other time you press a button. You'll definitely want a set of rechargeables for this one.
- I received the item within a few days. After several days of trying to get the program to download to the remote, no instructions where included, and a call to the seller, I contacted Universal directly. They told me the program was too outdated to update, so they emailed me a new program and pdf instructions. Fantastic remote. Very Easy to program. This thing can do anything. I also bought the MX 200 Sidekick today for the young one.
- Easy to program and very responsive. We're back to a one remote household with multiple devices to control. My favorite aspect was the ability to use my PC to set up the commands which sends them to the remote. Any future changes or additions will be a breeze.
