1. I make my money on the road as a photographer, and the Roadwired RAPS! are indispensable for travel. I've always got a gadget or three stuffed in my shoulder bag, and it's great to be able to wrap them up for protection while in transit. I've bought one in each of the three sizes, and 4 days out of 5 will find one in my bag, holding a GPS or a camera or a flash or a PDA or an iPod or a hard drive or a...you get the picture.

1. We're using this to control the reading light and television in our six-year-old daughters' room. Our first inclination was to purchase a cheap outlet timer to turn the "forbidden devices" off at bedtime, but reality prevented us from doing so. On non-school-nights, we try to be flexible with her reading time; when she's sick, we'll give her extended TV time to encourage her to rest in bed longer. It became obvious we wanted control over them without having to enter the room (not to mention that she's on the second floor and we're typically downstairs when she goes to read...yes, sad to say, laziness is part of the lure of this device).
   
   It would get a perfect score except for the price. The remote is simply amazing, but suffers from the same disease -- the "some Americans will always equate 'best' with 'most expensive'" syndrome. The limitation here is that we would buy many more dimmers if not for the cost.
   
   I still recommend it if you don't mind parting with some serious money.

1. I have been using this remote for a couple of years now, and it has done it's job. The setup was straightforward and painless, and the remote was able to recognize TV's, VCR's and DVD players (a mix of 4 year old to brand new model electronics). HOWEVER, some buttons are really unresponsive. In particular, my CHANNEL DOWN button essentially doesn't work. You'd have to push the button over and over and over and wiggle it around before the TV would maybe change a channel. Other buttons are the same way. I'd say about 90% of the buttons work fine. However, I'm sick of having to wiggle buttons around (which is why I am currently surfing Amazon to buy a new remote control). Not sure if the dysfunctional buttons are the case for all the remotes, but the problems are very real on mine. Spend a couple more bucks and get a better remote, in my humble opinion.



2. We are really happy with this remote. It works perfectly with Star Choice. It has been reliable and tough (we have several small children). It was the cheapest yet best universal remote we have purchased yet.



3. The Philips Magnavox name is well-known for good products, but this isn't one of them! The remote is easy to program and the light up feature makes channel surfing in the dark a breeze. However, I have only had my remote for six months and it already doesn't work. I found that the channel +/- keys and volume keys were not responding when I pressed them. I have found that this is a common problem with universal remotes as I have tried three or four different brands. I also have to reprogram the control a lot. For some reason, if it isn't used in a while, it loses the code that was programmed. I also didn't like that the power button was right below the channel down button - I often would turn the TV off by mistake when I just wanted to go back a channel! Spend a little more and order a new remote from the company who made your TV. It will save you a lot of hassle and money in the end!



4. I went through about 3 of these in a year and a half. These are cheap and work pretty well, but they don't last very long.



5. Not as described- the keys do NOT glow. Otherwise it is a neat, inexpensive, effective, 3 item programable remote. Has all the features of original remote and more. Easy to set up. The picture is correct, just the part about the keys is off. Who needs'em anyway? Fast service on this seller also.
