5 comments about Logitech Harmony 688 Universal Remote Control (Black).
- This is a very easy universal to program, just hook it up to your computer. Enter the product name and model number, answer a few questions on a very user friendly screen and you're done. The best thing is that it works with TiVO, it even has the up and down thumb buttons. All in all this remote has given me no problems and has been a dream for the past 6 months. Would strongly recommend, especially for the price!!!
- This is the first remote that I've found that operates all my audio and video components. It's reasonably priced and easy to set up. The only improvement I'd recommend is an increase in the font sizes used to identify the commands.
- It is very hard to update the remote. Very seldom we can delete and if there are two DVR boxes remote get confused and keep on turning off and on, even though we choose the right one such as A or B.Software update is cumbersome and take 45 minutes on a Intel Quad computer with 2 G memory. Can supply some patches. I have the remote sitting on my coffee table useless.
- For $99 this should be a much better remote. If you watch movies in the dark, you have to use the glow button, guess what, you will have to replace the batteries once a month at least. Also, Logitech has over simplifed the remote. You can't program individual buttons you have to use their program that only allows you to program devices and not the remote directly. If you have to go into the device menu a lot you will not be able to control the volume unless you switch to the device that controls volume. Why not have an option to program each button period... But the remote is useless now because of the low battery life. Do not buy this unless you want to buy batteries every month. Ridiculous. Only remote I have ever had like this.
- This is a must have if you have many brands of equipment in your home theather. I have three kids ages 8 and down and they know exactly which button to press to play video games, to watch a DVD or to watch tv. Takes some time to set up but is very friendly. The only con is that it is too fragile, I have bought four units in the past 2 years since the buttons got stuck on three of them and one got the screen broken. Overall, I don't mind buying one every six months since it does everything I need it to.

1 comments about Terk DTVR DIRECTV Universal Remote Control.
- I was so upset when I accidentally ruined my remote control that came with my DirecTV TiVo. Now that I have this one, I would never want to use another remote control. It is so user friendly. My mother just bought a Hughes DirecTV TiVo and we are going to replace her remote with this one. It is very easy to read and controls other electronics too.

2 comments about ZENITH ZN-501S 5 Device Universal Remote.
- I needed a no-frills, easy-to-use universal remote. The ideal remote would control at least four devices. I'd seen ads for Zenith's "ZN-501S 5" device, and it seemed to fill the bill. I also sought a bargain price tag. That requirement meant comparison shopping, bringing me to Amazon.
When I noticed the Zenith prices at Amazon Marketplace, I couldn't believe my eyes. No control could beat Zenith's combination of features and price. Also, the Zenith closely resembles a Philips PM435S universal remote that we already have. The Philips unit is excellent, and very easy to use. Yet the less-expensive Zenith can control one more device. I wondered if the Zenith could equal the Philips' performance. Maybe they both came from the same Chinese source?
For the great price, I took a gamble and ordered the Zenith. When I received the Zenith, I noted that it was about an inch shorter than the Philips unit. In fact, size was the main difference. When I compared the two manuals, I found much duplicate language. The two units have to be related. In tests, I discovered that at least some Philips codes work with the Zenith!
The Zenith can operate our odd mixture of components: Products by a spectrum of manufacturers. The remote includes buttons for TV, VCR, satellite, DVD and cable devices. The product design is thoughtful. Despite the small size of the remote, the buttons are well spaced. Programming is logical and reasonably simple.
+++ Small Gripes: On some DVDs, the chapter up-down controls don't work. The remote also can't turn off our old Fisher stereo. The Philips remote has these same minor quirks. The Zenith includes a "shift" control that I find slightly annoying. That is, some buttons serve two purposes. I'll get used to this feature. Still, the Philips performs just fine without a shift key. Score one point for Philips. Avoiding the shift key was a wise choice. At least Zenith lights an LED when you're using a button's shifted function.
+++ Big Positives: Both remotes allow you to use any memory for any device besides a TV set. For example, we control the stereo with the "cable" button. This "any memory" feature enables extraordinary flexibility. Another plus is the "punch-through" feature. For example: Even though you've set the control for "TV," you can operate the DVD directional buttons.
If you want a basic remote at a nice price, I highly recommend the Zenith. It's definitely "the little remote that could."
- I bought this remote after receiving a DVD player for my birthday. When it arrived, I was excited to set it up, but when I opened the manual, if I remember correctly, it was misorganized and written in poor English, so I ended up finding out how to use it on the internet or something. From there, it didn't support either my TV or my DVD player.

1 comments about Roadwired RAPS! Advanced Protection System Wrap, Medium - Yellow.
- I have used the medium and the large size wraps for several years now when going on trips and must say that this is one of the best products I have ever seen. While I love cases to protect my valuable electronics such as MP3 player, PDA, digital camera etc. they have the downside of not always fitting well.
The wrap to the rescue! Whatever product I want to carry & protect, there is a wrap that works. One simply puts the product in the center of the unfolded wrap, and then folds over the corners envelope-style (see my uploaded images). Each corner has velcro that attaches securely to the outside of the wrap. That's it. It works like a padded blanket with added features such as protection from the elements.
So - instead of buying a custom case for everything I own, I use wraps to carry my stuff securely. Cannot recommend this product highly enough!
