  1. Enjoyed the product for one day, then it lost sync. Logitech web page support is useless. Will be returning the product now.

  2. The thing worked only for 3 days and after that that it just stopped working. The two pieces stopped recognizing each other. Got it replaced. And lo and behold same problem. In a couple of days they again stopped recognizing each other. They stopped getting in sync. So just think of at as a use it for 2 days and throw it away.
Same problem with similar product from Logitech (Wireless music system).

  3. First of all, I purchased this produce from Best Buy for $49.99. Exact same product so I don't know why the price is quadruple that here but save your money. I had to return this product three times and spent a good amount of time on the phone with Logitech's tech support to get it to work (which it never really did). That could be in part because I have a two story house and my sound system was located downstairs and the computer upstairs but even still. The product was just not up to par. I experienced lond delays in song playback and unreadable songs and the system not working at all, all after following the advice of their tech support. Finally I gave up and started searching for something else.

Logitech also has a new device, I think it's called the Squeeze Box that I'm looking into. It's about $300 but if it works as designed, I feel it's worth it. I ordered it and it should be here in a few days. I'll post a review once I set it up.

Don't waste your money on this product, especially not at $200.

  4. Logitech wireless DJ music system makes playing your music collection stored on your pc a breeze. You can search by artist name, album, genre, all by turning the wheel on the center of the remote. The screen is easy to read and makes creating a playlist very easy. The songs boot up very quickly and the sound quality is great.

Makes parties fun because guests can look through your library and add to your song list. A definite must for those with a large music collection.

  5. It doesn't get much easier than this. My real rating is a 3.75. I was looking for a simple (wireless) connection from my PC to my stereo for playing music/playlists. I had tried Apple's AirExpress and others with little/no luck.

Pros: Easy set-up. VERY nice, comprehensive control of the iPod functions from the remote (including ability to see the song names in the playlists). Audio quality is pretty darn good. I realize most manufacturers (including Logitech) have migrated away from Bluetooth and toward WiFi for this application, but their abandoning this technology made this product just too inexpensive to resist (I paid $95 in Jan. '08)

Cons: When I want to use the system, I usually have to "reset" it by turning the remote (stereo end) base unit off, then on again. The VERY occasional "skip" of connection - usually only happens when music has streamed for hours at a time - might even be a PC issue.

Two other quick notes- On the plus side, I've had no range or line of sight connection issues, and my PC is approx. 60', 3 walls and a closed cabinet away from my home audio receiver. On the down side, I've had challenges getting the "broadcast any PC sound" feature to work consistently - not a big deal for me, but would come in handy for some applications.

I think this unit is getting tougher and tougher to find, but if you have the need and can pick one up before they're extinct, it's a good value.

  1. I really enjoy the flexability this ir extender provides. As long as you aim the remote control correctly, it works great. If you are a channel changer of great frequency, then be patient; you have to aim the remote carefully.

  1. It's my first universal remote, so I can't compare it to others. I wanted a basic remote that could control my cable box, dvd player and TV from bed - most importantly control the volume and power off the tv. This remote does that and more. It also works from a good distance - I've tested it from approx. 20ft and it's able to transmit. The manual is easy to read/ program. My electronics are popular brand name. I had my TV powering on/off, volume control, dvd player and cable box programmed in about 5 min. Programming the "master power" on/off sequence and "volume lock" was also a breeze. I haven't tried programming fav channels or sleep timer yet, but it's looks pretty simple to do.
It's slim and long, with a the lower half being slightly thicker - I would have preferred it to be a little shorter/smaller. The construction feels durable, and the buttons are rubber and easy to read find, although there is no back lit.
It's an uncomplicated, basic universal remote, that works great.

If this review helped you please vote for it...

  2. It controls my TV and my DirecTV, but not my DVD player/VCR combo player. The manual lists codes for 11 DVD/VCR brands, but not mine. It doesn't make sense that they would leave Phillips off the list.

  3. I purchased this remote to control my TV, DVD player, and DirectTV box. We needed this because we lost our original TV remote and couldn't use the sleep timer. It controls the TV as it should. However, I could not get it to sync with my DirectTV box despite trying ALL the codes included with the instructions. Also, it did sync with the DVD player, but doesn't control most of the functions. Be weary if you need this remote to control all features!

  4. If you're looking for an inexpensive remote control, you've found it. This is a simple device that is easy to operate. No complaints whatsoever!

  1. i recently purchased the above item and in turn received another remote in its place after the seller emailed me back to say this is not the item anymore, but i am now out of $16 for an item i don't want, so this is not the item you're purchasing!

  2. This is a nice remote. I have owned a few of these but kids and dogs take their toll. These are great for running all your devices.

  3. I got this to replace a broken remote from my 10 year old RCA tv because other remotes didn't operate the picture in picture feature. Nice placement of buttons.

  4. This remote is exactly what it says it was supposed to be in description. It arrived on time and the directions were easy to follow. The remote that came with our tv broke. We are very, very satisfied with this purchase.

  5. My RCA TV Guide Remote went out. This one pick's up without missing a beat. Additional perks of universal is great.

  1. I decided to buck the trend and skip the Harmony remotes for this one. All my friends have Harmony remotes, and they're fairly awesome. This one was $50 cheaper, and I was really enticed by the wifi aspect.

I've been sorely disappointed so far.

Setting up my TV took way more effort than it needed to be. Whereas the Harmony remotes are configured on the web, where they have a nice database of model numbers and pictures you can check with, the AR remote simply does what every other universal remote does -- it has a catalog of "codes", and you have to pick the one that appears to work. On the up side, these codes are automatically available on the remote, you don't have to keep entering codes, you just arrow left and right through the list, and then try out the buttons for each one. You also get to see what buttons are supported natively, so you when you're programming your cable remote, you can skip the versions that don't have the PVR functions your cable box has.

Unfortunately, there isn't any good explanation for what the buttons actually map to. I have a hi-def TV with five inputs, plus two antennas. The only button that showed on list was "input", and that button on the remote only switched between the two antennas. It was only after I gave up that I found out it could properly switch to the other inputs, but only as "soft buttons" (using the menu on the screen to choose those functions). Once I figured that out, it worked fine. But then I moved on to my cable box.

The cable box is a Motorola, from Comcast. There were only three options for "Comcast" cable boxes, and only one appeared to have the features matching mine. There are 13 Motorola matches, and a handful matched. Somehow, I don't know how, but the channel up/channel down buttons now skip channels 2 at a time. I can't channel up from channel 3 to channel 4, it goes from 3 to 5.

Of course, I only found that problem after I spent a boatload of time trying to figure out how to tell the remote *not* to scroll through the channel listings on its screen, but just let me try to channel up and channel down on my own (I'm a pro TV surfer). I never did figure out how to do that -- I "solved" it by simply telling the remote that I have no guide data.

I've also been stymied by the fact that there are no page up/page down buttons. For a modern universal remote, it seems crazy that there are no page up/page down buttons -- they exist on my regular cable remote, and I use them constantly. I could train the buttons, but I still have no physical buttons to map them to.

And I still haven't been able to get it to turn my XBox 360 on and off, even after supposedly "training" the power button. Since I use that as my DVD player, that's almost a deal killer right there.

Keep in mind, I'm a software engineer. I'm used to monkeying with devices like this, and I'm used to archaic user interfaces and such, so if I say I can't figure out how to get around the guide and simply channel up/down on the cable box, it means it's definitely not obvious.

I'm fairly disappointed. The wifi aspect is pretty cool, because being able to check out sports scores and such on the remote while I'm watching a movie. If I lived with someone, I could easily see the benefit of being able to surf the channel listings without interfering with someone else watching TV (or watching a movie, playing a game, etc).

But when it comes down to being able to really use the remote as an adequate substitute for my existing remotes, it's really falling flat. The lack of page up/down buttons is a serious oversight these days, and the automatic downloading and switching of "codes" is helpful, but it's just not the innovation offered by Harmony.

I'm going to play with it some more, see if I can't get it to work with the devices I have. I'd probably be considered a "power user", though, so my disappointment may be that it doesn't satisfy my niche uses. But for $200, I'd expect something much more akin to the Harmony remotes.

  2. This is a good remote. Because of the wireless feature you can see the channel guide on it's screen. Easy to set up. Only flaw is that this is a rechargeable remote and if it dies you have to reset the thing. Not a big hassle but something you have to be aware of.

  3. Awesome, awesome and then some. Was a Harmony guy after hunting and hunting for the right one, thought I found it till I stumbled on this remote. I don't see Logitech going wifi and wifi really puts this over the top as far as I'm concerned. Weather, messaging, games geez it's beyond a smart remote it's more like a smart phone for your electronic devices.
    Get it ,it's worth it.

  4. Very disappointing. Out of the box, the control could not handle 1) my cable box, 2) my audio processor, 3) my Blue Ray Disk player. Honestly, a complete waste of money for me.

  5. This product is great as long as you have a Linksys router to create a wireless internet network in your home so your remote can connect to the internet.

Only problem with this remote is you constantly have to recharge it too much. I guess sometimes I didn't have my charger plugged in correctly so it might just seem that way to me because it didn't recharge well enough, but the remote takes alot of power to run and ends up needing to be recharged every night or maybe once every 2 days.

  2. I would not buy from this seller again!! He advertised this item as NEW, but when it arrived we could tell that it was obviously not new (or even slightly used). It was dirty and had numbers missing from pad and scratches everywhere. When I complained to seller, then he said "well it is reconditioned." Where is the honesty in advertising?? After much ado, I received a refund from Amazon.
