- Super bright at 3000 lumens. Fairly short-throw so you can be about 8-10 feet back from a typical screen. If you have used a projector with wimpy laptop sound, you will be impressed with the substantial output and decent quality sound on this unit. Multiple video/audio inputs with switching from the remote is a nice touch also. Well worth the extra $$!
- Three things stand out for me on why I first chose and why I am enjoying this projector. (1)3000 lumens at this price is pretty good. (2)A more powerful speaker which allows for presentations in a sizable audience without having to attach speakers - but if you want other speakers, there is a convenient minipin port. (3)A convenient volume control for that speaker on top - my last one was imbedded in the menu. Add to these the wide range of ports in and out (DVI!) and you can see that this is a power users machine at a modest price point.

- Great quality projector. I hooked it up on my laptop and had great picture. The reason I gave it a 4 star is because it doesn't have a RCA inputs.
- I find my Optoma EP727 to be just what I needed and at a nice price. Its size and weight make it very portable and the bulb brightness is suitable for use at a wide range of venues. I use it for slide shows and video projections, as well as showing HDTV. The projector has all of the inputs I need as well as the feature controls desirable for my range of uses.
The only negative I have found is that the control buttons are very tender indeed. I have accidentally powered the projector down numerous times while adjusting the direction or tilt. A detent position on the buttons would be a good improvement.

- This projector is superb in brightness and flexibility given the extra range in zoom. We use it in ECO mode and find it plenty bright even with the windows unshaded in midday. It is great for iphoto, presentations, & quicktime given the higher res than many sub $1000 projectors. Good color and looks great even projected on a white wall. It has a mini D-sub (RGB) cable and a video connector, so nothing fancy. The only thing is it is somewhat noisy, but when there is action and the volume is pleasurably loud it isn't noticeable much. The remote is intuitive, as is the menu/options. It is a sleek, thin machine. I would give it 4.5/5 stars.
- Size: Same as the small Sony Vaio 11.1" screen computers but a bit thicker. Projector fits into my attache case carry-on bag next to my small Sony Vaio computer.
Keystone is automatic. The projector senses the lift angle and compensates. The projection is perfectly rectangular. My previous projector often showed a trapezoid picture.
The cable is VGA/VGA not VGA/DVI so if a a wire breaks in the cable (resulting is a yellow, blue, etc. picture), you can easily find a replacement.
Flip-up lens cover. When you are switching shows, you can hide your work and cover the projection with the lens cover. Nice.
TSA. Due to the shape, airport Security will assume the projector is a computer and require it be separately screened. So, you will have to remove it from your carry-on bag for screening with your computer.
The projector has more lumens than comparable units and runs hot; the lamp is rated at just 2,000 hours.
I am an author on speaking tours. I fly more than 6,000 miles/week. I appreciate a projector that is reliable, low volume, low weight and sets up quickly.
Sexy. This projector will turn heads.

5 comments about Epson Home Cinema 1080 Home Theater Projector.
- I bought this projector after agonizing over the decision for a month and convincing the wife to let me pull the trigger. I was replacing a very old VGA quality Sharp projector that I really disliked using because the picture quality was so bad.
I got the new projector and opened it up right away when I got it. This new projector was much smaller than the old one and was pretty light so it was easy to mount up on the ceiling. Being in Denver a mile high up MSL one of the first things I had to do was put the projector in high altitude mode which brings up the only real negative I have with this projector. In high light mode the fan can be very loud. In low mode its tolerable and still produces plenty of light in my theater room.
The picture quality of this projector feeding it a High Def signal is amazing. Discovery Channel and National Geo HD channels are my new best friends and even watching the HD versions of network shows and sports events are eye opening experiences. Even normal def signals look pretty good although obviously fuzzier on a 90" wide screen.
Light others I agree that the blacks could be blacker but really unless you are a big video person you probably won't notice. The color settings out of the box and although I've played with it a bit I'm partially color blnd so I'd probably make it worse. :<)
Very happy with the purchase.
- Purchased to upgrade my existing home theater projector and am very happy with my choice. The picture is great for HDTV, DVD and Blu-Ray. Bottom line... EXCELLENT projector!
- PURCHASE YOUR EPSON PRODUCT THROUGH AN AUTHORIZED DEALER OR FROM EPSON DIRECTLY.
This is not a review of this product, but rather a word to the wise... Two and half months after my purchase of an Epson 10000XL scanner through Amazon, it stopped working. Through the followup and tech support process I learned that, because I purchased through Amazon, the manufacturer nor the seller would honor the 1 year warranty. Epson's position is that Amazon is not an authorized seller and that they merely act as broker for what can often be re-furbished or second hand merchandise.
So, should your purchase break or malfunction, as mine did, you are out of luck with regard to warranty.
This lesson cost me $2400.00
- This projector worth every penny for the picture quality you get. It is not well known by public, maybe that is why it is such a bargain.
- I've done my fair of research and this is by far the best 1080p projector for the money. I've been using it with my blu-ray player and I highly recommend it. If you have any ambient light in the room and plan on watching it during the day get the "UB" version of this projector instead. It's a little bit more pricey but completely worth it. Even with a grey screen it was hard to watch this projector in my family room during the day without blacking out all the windows.

- I have been using this projector for classroom Power Point presentations and it has been great. It works fine in a well lit environment, although if you have very detailed graphics or want richly saturated colors you may have to dim the lights. It has been easy to use and I have had no issues whatsoever. For the price it is a very good buy.
- I am the lead installer for a company that installs RealHomeTheaters, so hopefully my experience can be of some help.
This projector has a 1024x768 resolution which is a 4:3 ratio. So, in 16:9 mode (widescreen) your effective pixels will not be true HD. Also it has no HDMI inputs and with today's technology HDMI is a must have.
For home theater consider a Mitsubishi HC1500 or a Panasonic PT-AX200 be sure to read my reviews on them too.
Hope this helps get your RealHomeTheaters off the ground!
- [I've been an Ed. Tech. for 37 years] Dang this Sharp XR-30X DLP projector I just bought! I got it for our elementary school's auditorium gatherings because our 3 other projectors are getting rather popular for classroom use lately. So I set it up with a couple of the others...and, well, now I'm gonna have to go buy MORE of 'em 'cause the Sharp makes the rest of our projectors look so OLD! And for $600! I now know why a projector's contrast ratio is a more prominent spec in website stores. It definitely makes the Sharp, uh, sharp! But its high contrast also does NOT affect(negatively), as so many other video projs do, its color range or intensity or the natural appearance of skin tones. And the remote is so complete there's even a menu for troubleshooting. How many other proj remotes offer that? I used it at a large(600) PTA gathering this past weekend, and during the next few days I had several teachers come up to me and ask where they could get one! Suffice it to say I am highly pleased with it!
