- I ordered these on the recommendation of a friend of mine. The box arrived on time and in good shape. Everything was well packed to prevent damage. I unpacked and set up speakers around the room using the included guide. It was very easy to set up. The sound quality is really good. Very rich and full.
My only complaint was that i needed about 25feet more wire, but I also have a large living room so most will be okay.
- Great performance for an excellent price! I previously had a Yamaha receiver that lasted me over 20 years! It actually still works so I knew I was buying a quality system. I wanted to upgrade to a newer system that has smaller speakers and can connect to an iPod.
The sound quality is excellent. I have never had a subwoofer, and although I think this is a pretty small one, it adds a nice punch to the bass.
I also purchased the Yamaha iPod dock - one feature I was excited about was having the receiver show what song is playing from your iPod, but I have yet to get this to work. I think you may have to connect with a separate cable which is not included; odd since it comes with a nice Dock Cable. Perhaps I am not using properly.
The only thing I think would be better is for the system to come with better audio cables and speaker wire. But I think most Home Theater Systems come with the same standard cables, which is a shame. Cables aren't cheap.
That said, Yamaha is great. You really can't go wrong - especially for this price.
- I purchased this home theater system because of the Yamaha brand name, but I found the instructions voluminous and complicated. Also I was a little surprised that the cable to hookup the speaker system had to be stripped and didn't have snap in and color coded connectors.
- I ordered this product and had it on my doorstep in 4 days. TigerDriect was great! Everything works great. A bit of a challenge to set up with the HD TV between the HDMI cables, digital opital cables, coaxial cable, regular cables... I'm not a tech person, but I figured out. The sound is very nice.

- Pros: Sound, Appearance, HDMI in/out
Cons: None that I am aware of
This is a surprisingly good system. I was lucky enough to find the system for $450 at the local Best Buy (the price reduced because the box had been opened). Compared to other systems, I would say it's still quite a bargain retail, rivaling systems more than two or three times the price.
I was truly impressed with the system after setting it up. It gives very nice blending of high, mid and low frequencies for a crisp, yet rich sound. It's great for movies and I love just listening to music on it, not to mention that its appearance is clean and unobtrusive.
I have a separate DVD player, so do not mind that one is not integrated into the system. After peeking through the air vents it's not clear to me why Samsung made the unit so tall, the components would apparently fit in an enclosure half the height, but that's really my only complaint, if you can call it one.
I am extremely happy and recommend the system highly.
- I had this system for about a week before I returned it. Right from the start I had "Handshake" issues with my PS3. I had my PS3 on HDMI input 1 and my STB on HDMI input 2, with HDMI out to the TV. When I first turned on the PS3, I got a black screen that said "Mode not supported". After unplugging and plugging the PS3's HDMI cable in a bunch of times, it finally worked. The next day I turned on the PS3 and was suprised to see a magenta screen. Connected directly to the TV and the problem was gone. The next few days it worked fine and then the other morning I got the "Mode not supported" again. Nothing I did would bring the video back. I had the correct cables too, HDMI 1.3. Others have had many issues w/ this reciever when connecting a PS3 (check out AVSforum.com)
I have a new Samsung LCD TV w/ Anynet. Could not get this to work either. When I would turn everything off and on it would change my input to HDMI Optical...but I'm not running an optical cable.
When the unit was working, I was actually suprised with how good it sounded. This system may be ok if not using a PS3 W/ HDMI connection, but that's why I bought the system, to use the Blu-Ray...If you do want to try the system out, make sure you purchase it from a place that has a good return policy.!!!!
- Great product. Hooked up as centerpiece to 42inch LCD/1080p, Xbox 360, Blu Ray, HD-DVD, and DVR.
No problems, great reciever, and powerful!
- TO THE GUY ABOVE OR BELOW THIS REVIEW WITH THE PS3... THE RECIEVER IS NOT AN UPCONVERTER SO THERE IS NO REASON TO RUN ANY VIDEO WIRES INTO. IT SHOULD BE JUST AUDIO, MEANING OPTICAL OUTS FROM YOUR PS3 AND CABLE BOX, RESPECTIVELY (THE RECIEVER HAS 2 OPTICAL INPUTS), AND HDMI RUNNING FROM THE CABLE AND PS3 INTO THE TV RESPECTIVELY, I DID THIS THE FIRST DAY I BROUGHT THE SYSTEM HOME AND CONNECTED IT AND HAVE YET TO HAVE A PROBLEM (GOT IT FOR CHRISTMAS). JUST A FEW CONVERSATIONS WITH KNOWLEDGABLE SALES REP AND I WAS ON MY FEET.
- This is no doubt a good system, but I read on several different reviews were the subwoofer stop working shortly after installation. This apparently is the case for me, because a day after installing the system the subwoofer stop working. I believe the issue to be with the port being bad on the reciever, which has also been reported on other reviews.

5 comments about Bose Acoustimass 6 Home Entertainment - Speaker System, 5.1-channel surround sound - Black.
- I heard this set at my Grandfather's friend's house. I think the fella spent like $750.00 on it from a local outlet mall. What a waste of well earned retirement money! He had a higher end Marantz receiver firing these puppies, and let me tell you the receiver was being shamefully wasted on these speakers. The lower end frequencies were o.k. and the highs were sufficient. What I felt was missing was the solid mids and voice presence. Don't get me wrong, music sounded good. But, trying to watch a movie was like riding in a car with huge subs and tweeters in the front door pillars. The lack of mid-bass was a huge downfall with these speakers.
I spent $200.00 less on a set of Dahlquist 5.1A and feel like they sound like $1000.00 speakers. They have an even frequency response all the way across. In my opinion they look a whole lot better mounted too. I'm running them with a Marantz SR6200 DTS receiver and they perform flawlessly. I would totally recommend anyone that's considering a BOOOSE system to reconsider and shop around. GET YOUR MONEY'S WORTH, DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!
- thanx for a great system...my living room now sounds like a full theatre...it's hard to believe so much sound comes out of speakers so small I got a great b-day present..thanx
- I ditched my AM6 speakers through eBay and bought some good speakers instead. Anyone who likes Bose must only have their clock radio as a point of reference. I was able to sucker some chump into paying $400 for my Bose AM6 speakers, which I turned around into a set of Athena .5 speakers and a 10" Velodyne sub. All running from the same Pioneer VSX-D711 AV receiver as the Bose. My new speakers set me back about $350, leaving money left over for speaker wire and stands.
So, why am I so harsh on the Bose AM6 speakers? Well, they do look nice, but... they use proprietary speaker wires with speacial plugs. So, you have to use their wiring which really reduces the options for running wiring for the back surrounds. The small size is nice, but having speaker wire hanging out in plain site pretty much sucks.
Speaking of sucking, let's adress the major shortcoming of almost ALL Bose products, they just don't sound good. My budget Athena .5 speakers have a 1" tweeter and a 4" driver. This combo does a pretty good job of covering down to around 80Hz where the sub fills in. Not completely flat, but really nice for the price and signficantly better than what the Bose AM6 can do with its single 2.5" driver per speaker. The Velodyne sub can hit 30Hz and really fill in the low end, while the bass module (I refuse to call that Bose thingy a sub) doesn't get any where near that. And, since all 5 speakers are cabled through the bass module, you're really stuck finding a good place to hide it in your room.
So, what does all this mean? When watching a Dolby Digital or DTS movie, I can now actually notice the low frequency effects, and even feel them. with the Bose, you get muddled farting from the bass module (and, I suspect the cross over on the bass module is set pretty high in an attempt to compensate for the Bose Cubes' misserable low to mid range response, so you know where the sound is coming from, sort of distracting).
The overall sound stage is now much better with the new speakers, too. The Bose cubes were too easily localized, and didn't fill in the room very well. But... most important: when watching a movie, we can now actually hear the dialog! With the Bose AM6, it seemed like the music sound track and other ambiant sounds were constantly overwhelming the dialog. Turns out, this was due to the fact that crappy little cube speakers aren't able to effectively produce sound in that low to mid frequency range, where most dialog lives. Take a look at all the traditional center channel speakers everyone else sells, they usually feature a single tweeter and two or more mid-range drivers of decent size (4" to 6" depending on cost). Now, compare that to the single 2.5" driver found in the Bose cube "center channel". Which one do you think will do a better job of reproducing the full frequency of sound needed to enjoy a movie?
Sorry to ramble a bit, but I was a chump when I fell for the Bose marketing hype/BS. Now that I've learned that I can get significantly better sound for 1/2 the cost (and I'm sure there are scores of other options), I'd hate to see someone else get suckered in by the hype. So, go back to Amazon's speaker section and try something else; Athena is a great brand;) and I'm sure there are lots of other choices...
- I'm no Audiophile as it were but I know quality when I hear it. I purchased the Acoustimass 6 (gen IV) on my belief and word on the street that Bose is the best. I'm sad to say don't believe the hype. They are good but not $899 good. The Bass is lame and the treble on the center channel drowns out the rest of the action if anyone is talking in the foreground. I'm running a Pioneer vsx2016 which is an awesome product. Anyway I plan to stay within this price range but take my business elsewhere, any suggestions? They are going to go back next week.
- It seems like the first step to be an audiophile is to criticize Bose. I got lost on that path a little bit. I spent six months going around to listen to many others speakers (included Polk and Klipsch). Of course, I heard some decent speakers that sound better than Bose, but they usually cost at least $3,000 each. But, for the similar price range Bose is hard to be beaten. I decided to buy it because it always make me smile our of my poker face at Bose showroom (not because of the funny sale guy).
I decided to adopt a set of AM6. People at the store told me that I may have to wait for 45 days. I think, that's OK. But, I can't live without some nice music for 45 days. Then, I placed my order for the AM6 and also brought home a pair of an inexpensive Bose 161. The 161 alone sounds very OK for music. Anyway, my receiver is Onkyo TX-SR605S. And my audio sort is the Mac mini optically connected to the Onkyo receiver. I could make my neighbors dance with this set. However, the 161 alone is no good for movies.
45 days later, I got the AM6. So, the pair 161 are now the back surround speakers. With the AM6, I got a 7.1 system. The first Onkyo automatic setup was great for the movies the floor and the walls were shaking. for some reasons, the floor and the walls were still shaking for music too. That is a little too much for me. The bass wasn't like a strong punch. It was more like a really annoying subwoofer effect from the next room. I was a bit disappointed. However, a month later when I was playing around with the Onkyo remote control, I found that the Onkyo set volume level of subwoofer to -3. I manually changed it to +3. Now, it is a lot better for music. It does sound like what I heard in Bose showroom. The movie sound effect is still cool. I think, the reason that make Onkyo receiver set the volume level very low for Bose speakers, because Bose bass module is not exactly a subwoofer. It also produces some midrange sound, which could mess up Onkyo automatic speakers calibration. One more good thing that I like about the AM6 is, speaker cables are included. I don't have to worry about what cabel should I use or how much do I have to pay more. But please note that, the center speaker of AM6 is identical with the satellite speakers. So, it could be better of a system that has a real center speaker.

5 comments about Panasonic SC-PTX7 Premium Home Theater System.
- I bought this unit 3 months ago. It freezes on me more often than not. Apparently, I am not alone. Everytime it freezes, I have to unplug and reset the unit. It happens at least 3 times a week. I was deciding between this and the Bose 3.2.1 system before my purchase. I pick this due to the cheaper price and 1080p upconversion for DVD thru HDMI. However, I regret my decision every time I have to get up from my sofa to unplug the unit due to the freezing issue. I even went as far as pluging the unit to a wall outlet rather than my surge protector just so I have easier access to reset it. I hope Panasonic is going to come out with a fix soon.
- This feel like a beta release. Which would be fine if it were software, but it's hardware! My iPod sounds fine for a while, then suddenly it's very scratchy and fuzzy. The CD player locks up constantly. And finally, when you hit "power" there's a good :30 lag before it powers up. I have not done the firmware update on it. Hoping that fixes things... On a good note, the sound is nice, the remote is very well designed, and the unit looks slick.
- It may be stylish and inexpensive but I'm sorry I ever bought it. When Circuit City delivered the first one, it was DOA out of the box and we had to go back to the store for a replacement. That should have been my first hint. The second one worked fine...for a day. I should mention that we had Firedog install it and also program the Harmony remote, so our problems were not due to our lack of skill or technical knowledge. We've had it for 3 days now and every morning I wake up wondering what new challenge it will give me. Virtually every time I turn on the TV, there's something not right that needs correcting. Finally this a.m. the sound decided to quit. Circuit City is delivering a new unit from another brand tomorrow and taking this back for a full refund. The sound (when we had it) was average at best. Frankly my old Sony projection TV had better sound by itself than this home theater system. This hard-drive system of Panasonic's may be an interesting concept, but it has too many bugs to be worked out. My suspicion is that it is also not totally compatible with the Harmony remote. When I turn on my TV, I want everything to work....period.
- I went trolling for after Thanksgiving returns and found this for $275 with no box. The store was listing it at $799, so I thought I was getting a great deal. Even at that low price, I have just returned the product and moved on. The negatives on this unit didn't justify me keeping it even at that price. The most significant are as follows:
(1) Uploading a music collection onto its 80gb hard drive is absurdly difficult in today's plug-and-play world. The Panasonic rep I talked to had no idea about the unit or how to upload from my Windows Media Player to the unit. Turns out, I simply couldn't do it because it requires a router with two LAN inputs (she didn't even know what LAN was!). Yes, you have to be connected to the internet and set up some complicated network just to transfer music. To do this, you have to have a router with two LAN ports, which I don't. Why not just a USB transfer at this price?
(2) One reviewer mentioned a :30 boot of the unit; I've found it to be >1 minute every time, with as much as 3 minutes! Slower than my old computer to boot up, probably because of that hard drive (which, incidentally, is why it's priced so high).
(3) Proprietary speaker jacks means you can't add any different speakers or add more speakers, other than the $$$ wireless ones.
(4) I played a Pearl Jam DVD and the sound was nice at about 3/5 max volume. CDs also sound good, but my high quality mp3 player, plugged into an auxilary jack, was nowhere near the sound I had with my old system that had its own receiver.
(5) You can't play CDs without the tv on, and, when in DVD mode, you can't turn the tv off without the whole system shutting off (so, to play music, you then have to reboot it and wait).
In short, this unit is worth neither the price (especially the list price!) nor the risk, as you will be putting all your proverbial eggs in one basket -- if the dvd player, hard drive, or speakers go bad, you're pretty much screwed.
Thumbs down.
- I was looking for a complete system with virtual surround (VSS), I looked at everything from Bose to the Sony systems. They all had two similar problems, 1. You could not add your own sub woofer. - The systems are closed. 2.Except for the Bose GS 123 system, the sub woofer was very poor. Additionally Bose system did not support upconverting dvds.
I had almost given up when I saw the Panasonic SC-PTX7. It was sleek looking and had everything that I wanted including "Upconvert", VSS and tons of other stuff. What I really liked about this system is the ability to change the sub woofer out. This is where this system becomes very interesting.
So after adding my 12inch JBL sub, the whole system rocks. My friends are in awe. Adding the sub is very easy, just cut the ends of the wire that connects to the crappy sub that comes with the system. Now, connect them to your POWERED SUB and you are in business.
NOTE:ONLY USE A POWERED SUB, if you don't you can burn the receiver out.
DISCLAIMER:I accept no responsibility for anything. Try at your own risk.
In regards to the other issues mentioned in the reviews I am yet to experience them - maybe panasonic finally fixed them.
Hope you enjoy.
George Richardson

- Good sound, can not complain for the price. Looks nice. I plugged in my iPod, played CDs, DVDs, Divx, MPEG-4. I am using it with a 57 inch Toshiba projection HDTV via component connection. Works great, lots of functionality.
Remote is ok; could be more user friendly. Same for setup and manual.
- Sounds pretty good. But just confirmed with JVC's Tech Support that when you play an MP3 disk and then turn off the power, you have to start the disk at track 1 every time you start up again. You might have expected this 10 years ago, but now it's inexcusable. And you're limited to 150 songs without creating extra "groups".
But most limiting: there is only one external audio input called "Video". So if you want to hear the TV sometimes and sometimes another device like an XM receiver, you're out of luck, unless you continually reconfigure the inputs.
Just too limited for a receiver - going back to where it came from.
- I'm disappointed that no one previously reviewing this item cared to mention that the 5-channel stereo ONLY works when listening to CDs or watching DVDs on this particular model. If you want to watch cable or satellite TV movies with surround sound and not just 2 channels, you have to get the next model up. It's right there in the convoluted instruction manual.
- Ok, for one thing, i could care less that if it doesnt play from where i left on my mp3 cds. Another, mp3 cds are like 5 yrs ago. The sound i get from my ipod is amazing. To connect was very simple, has built in brackets, save money, i have yet to put it to max volume because even at the volume of like 35 it gives very crisp clear sound. The bass doesnt distort the music or dvds. I also have my 360 connected to it, and that to sounds amazing. For the price i got it, very quality sound. If u see it this for under 300 bucks, buy it without hesitation because u will not be disappointed at all. If u have the movie transformers, watch it in this system, amazing.

3 comments about Sony DAV-LF1H Platinum DVD Dream System.
- I bought this Home Theater System to complement a SONY KDL-52XBR2. And, boy did it ever! The surround sound is amazing. This is the 3rd home theater system I've owned and it's the best. Better than being at the movies. If you have the resources, and are looking for such a system, I highly recommend the DAV-LF1H.
- I made the HUGE mistake of purchasing one of the units because I wanted a small, good looking home theater system for our bedroom. I can't say anything good about it, and the only neutral thing I can say about it is that it's design is "unconventional". Allow me to tell you why I am so utterly dissatisfied:
I recieved the unit with 2 major malfunctions that made it essentially unusable- the DVD player skipped coninuously on even new CD's and scratched the surface of every DVD it played (!!!) and the video was severly distorted from the component outputs (the distortion looked like an MPEG conversion issue, but in any case it was unwatchable).
I contacted Sony about the issues, and they said that my only recourse was to send it to Texas (and pay for the shipping there and back!!!) or take it in to a local repair center. The closest local repair center is 15 miles away from my home. I reluctantly agreed to take it in to the repair center.
The local repair center kept it for 1.5 months, and I had to make many trips to bring them components. It was an enormous inconvenience for me.
When I picked up the unit, the DVD player issue seemed to be fixed but the video distortion was as bad as ever. The repair shop said they didn't even look at that issue, even though it was written down on their work order and I had clearly documented it with Sony.
I called Sony and politely suggested they give me a better option since I had been very patient with this $1300 headache so far. I recieved very rude and disrepectful treatment (the representative continually interrupted me even after I had asked him not to), and they eventually said at the top level of support that Sony's policy is to repair defective units, not replace them. They were not concerned that I had had a miserable experience up to this point, and they did not offer any new options beyond shipping it out for repair and taking it back to the same local shop.
So here I am- 2 months since paying $1300 to get a home theater system that I expected to have working out of the box- with a defective unit dreading bringing it back to the local repair shop. In my opinion, Sony doesn't seem to care about the quality of their own products or the experiences of their customers.
The product itself is VERY overpriced for its feature set. If you are expecting that this premium is going toward higher quality or a better customer experience, you will be dissappointed. It is going to a little brushed metal (most of the unit is plastic and particle board, actually) and a brand name that is looking its reputation for quality by the second (I know many would say its long gone by now).
If you're still thinking about buying it, then a) you're crazy and b) you should definitely buy it from a local vendor, since the unit weighs about 100 pounds and shipping it back so they can give you a new one with the hassle of dealing with Sony will not be a good option.
- THIS SYSTEM IS GORGEOUS FOR ONE. ALSO, BUYERS SHOULD KNOW THAT THIS SYSTEM WAS APPARENTLY NOT MANUFACTURED FOR VOLUME, BUT FOR CLARITY. WE'VE HAD OTHER SURROUND SOUNDS, INCLUDING DREAM SYSTEMS AND OUT OF 40 VOLUME MAX, WE COULD PLAY IT FROM 15-20 FOR EXTREME VOLUME. THIS SYSTEM IS DIFFERENT. WE HAVE TO PLAY IT AROUND 30-35 FOR THE EQUAL EFFECT. THING IS, IT ISN'T A PROBLEM BEACUSE THE CLEARNESS AND CLARITY OF THE SOUND IS UNBELIEVABLE! IT MAKES THE LACK OF VOLUME WELL WORTH IT. NOW, DON'T GET ME WRONG, AT VOLUME 35, IT IS STILL QUITE LOUD. JUST KNOWING I COULD SO MUCH HIGHER WITH THE OTHER SYSTEM WE HAD MADE ME WONDER AT FIRST WHY I PAID SO MUCH FOR THIS SYSTEM. AFTER LISTENING TO THE QUALITY OF THIS ONE, I FULLY UNDERSTAND & DON'T REGRET MY CHOICE AT ALL.

- Has anyone used this system? I am very interested in buying to it go along with my 50 inch Samsung Plasma and wanted to hear some feedback on the system...anyone got any reviews?
- the good: looks good, has dvd player, hdmi input, price, good sound
the bad: sub can't be adjusted, simulated sound effects are minimal.
overall: good system, vast improvement over tv speakers, would recommend
- I bought this system from amazon because the product description said it had an HDMI Input and Output connection.
There is No HDMI input! In fact there are no video inputs at all.
I wanted to connect my HD cable box to this system, then have one cable out to my HD TV. I never set up the system or even removed the speakers from the box. As soon as I saw it did not have an input I returned it.
- Love it.. love all Samsung stuff actually, well accecpt for the annoying confirmation bleeps that the TV's make when turned on and off. This produst is really nice and classy though. I use mine in the horizontal position and it looks great with the Tv and stand. I have a large great room type area and it fills the area with sound just fine. Picture is gorgeous on my 720hd. It is just what I expected it would be. Thanks Samsung and Amazon!
- This is at best an inconvenient system to use and at worst it is unmanagable. I should have investigated this system more closely prior to purchase, but for the price I assumed it would have bass and treble controls. It has none and the bass is often times overwhelming. The display is inadequate and to see "normal" info (track, time, etc) displayed you need to have your TV on.
It also has major input/output deficiences. For example the only other audio output is the headphone jack which silences the rest of the system.
This is my first Samsung product and I am extremely disappointed.

2 comments about Bose Lifestyle V30 Home Theater System - Black.
- I recently remodeled a house and removed the old entertainment center and speaker prewiring. I designed the new entertainment center around the V30 system. I also ran the Bose speaker wires in hopes of having the best sound possible by avoiding connections and using as many Bose components as possible. I mounted the 5 speakers, ran the different wires for the display, bass module and main module. I made of the connections per the instructions with the TV, cable box and DVD player. I could not get a signal to the TV. I could from the cable box and DVD player directly but not using the HDMI port on the main module. I called BOSE and followed the steps given by the representative. Since I did not have a video signal to the TV, I could not set up the system. During my call I had to guess what the display was telling me since it was not in English. The display looked like it had an error message and a message to contact Bose. The representative said I had to return the system. Let me say that again, return the system. Yes, disconnect and remove all pieces of the system. Even though the speakers work fine, the bass module works fine, the display works fine, I have to disconnect and remove all pieces, repack them in the box and ship them to Bose. Then wait for a complete new system and re install the complete system. The last time I checked, at the Bose outlet store, it was $650.00 to install a Bose home theater system. But my time to un install and re install an entire system for one bad component is worth nothing to Bose. I've had one other problem with a Bose headset. For this amount of money, I would look else where for a home theater system and avoid this level of customer service, or lack thereof.
- Replaced a seven year-old Onkyo system with the Bose V30. The system worked well right out of the box. The jewel cube speakers are outstanding considering their size. Unlike conventional speakers, they are broken into two speakers each (per speaker) and allow you to swivel each speaker in different directions. I am quite aware that I spent alot of money compared to other systems available, but the Bose design blended nicely into my room's decor. You don't even know there is a home theater system in the room. Classical music is amazing on this system. Movies are awesome. I use the system with a Sharp Aquos 42 1080P and a Sony Blu-ray player. Of course, my cable provides 40 or 50 HD channels. One thing I have discovered is that I can use the Bose system 100% of the time, even when watching a TV program. With the Onkyo, I only used it for movies and music because it was overbearingly powerful. The Bose V30 fills the room with rich sound and it is pleasing, even at lower volumes. Sure, I could have spent less on another system, but for the minimalist design and outstanding sound, nothing else compared. I did have a few issues during installation and Bose customer service was personable, patient and effective (and also English-speaking AMERICANS). Bottom line: if it fits your budget, it is a fantastic system!

5 comments about Bose 3-2-1 GS Series II DVD - Home Entertainment System - Graphite Gray.
- We have had our 3-2-1 for almost a year and I wish we had investigated more before our purchase. The sound on the 3-2-1 is great but if you want to watch movies...forget it. "Format unsupported" or "can't read disc" will be what you are looking at instead of your movie. The system will not play some DVDs at all and will play some one day and not the next. I wish we had never bought this system!
- With some of my older DVDs the unit freezes. In some cases I can press fast forward and eventually pass that part; however, in many cases it won't play after that point. There are definitely other products that sound just as good at a fraction of the cost. Not to mention this is not capable of playing HD or Blueray DVDs. Think twice before you buy. Also if I am not mistaken, this is only capable of 480p/480i.
- The Bose 321GS system is great. I took it out of the box and setup was very simple. I was listening to great sound from my TV in no time. The sound is great from the front. It does really sound as if the speakers are behind me. The vendor shipped the system right away.
- I have never even heard of anything this bad. The first one we got froze after 15 minutes of DVD playtime. We brought it back and the store replaced it immediately, without question (maybe we were not the first). The next one we got turns off spontaneously from time to time, which we could live with. We could also live with the bad TV sound, the bad CD sound, and the bad AUX sound through our computer. After all, it's optimized for DVD, and when we play modern, digital DVDs, the sound is almost as good as the demo in the store. If we can find a way to bypass the system for every other kind of sound input, we'll be in business. (but then we'll need speakers). Maybe someone can help: lately when we play our great-sounding DVDs, the picture goes to a grainy blue-ish black and white image. Now it is useless for everything, and we want our thousand dollars back. I hope we get it, but I have a feeling we're going to get a "repair disc" in the mail instead. If you respect yourself, don't buy this system.
- Similar story to others, only mine at least played DVDs for 18 months b4 the dreaded Format Unsupported start showing up. Now all I have is an expensive 3 speaker system that sounds good at times but at other times you can't hear voices. It was overpriced to start with but I bought into the Bose name thinking it would be quality. What a joke. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT, anything else would be either cheaper or more reliable or both!

- I like the system particularly the Bravia Theatre Sync. Two negatives (hence only 3 stars). The speaker wires are too short. The surround speaker wires are 8m and the front speakers and subwoofer wires are 3m. I have mine installed in a fairly small room (app. 12ft x 12ft) and the right front and surround wires are too short to be routed along the walls. The speaker wires have a color coded connector which is nice but this also meant I had to splice the speaker wire with an extension (I didn't bother to research if these were standard connectors).
The other issue was the speaker stand connection. The stand design is good but I stripped the heads off two of the supplied screws which secure the speaker to the stand. The first head broke off as soon as started to turn it and the second screw broke off after I had it 80% in so I had to drill it out.
That said, with those installation problems solved, I do like the system.
- I pre-ordered this system because I was sold on the Theatre Sync as I own a Sony LCD TV and a Sony Blu Ray player. The system sounds great and was fairly easy to set up. I especially like the 3 HDMI inputs with the system. The theatre synch works great. When our Blu Ray player is turned on, the reciever automatically changes to the proper input. My only complaints are with the speaker wire lengths and the auto-calibration. The speaker wires are much to short to be used in anything but a small room. The wires also connect to the system with a color coded plug which means that if you need longer wires, you have to splice into the supplied wires. The auto-calibration doesn't work very well. I tried it several times, but you would probably be better off trying it once then just setting them manually if it didn't come out like you wanted. Overall, I'm pleased with the purchase. It does match my Sony Blu Ray player. The reciever is actually smaller than the DVD player which was a nice suprise.
- This product is for anyone who is looking for an easy convinient hassle free combination with their sony tvs and blu ray players just like in my case.
