  1. We have had this for about a week and are so far very pleased. I am not an expert but I think the sound quality is very good. You do have to read the instructions to figure out all the different bells and whistles (especially to figure out when to get the 5.1 vs 2 speaker sound). we have a 46" Samsung LCD so they are in sync with each other- my only complaint is that when I have them linked and I turn on the system to listen to a CD it also turns on my tv...a little gripe but I can get over it. We would have liked to have gotten the HT-Z410 with the 5 discs but the depth of that unit was too big for our entertainment system. All in all- for the price we couldn't be happier with the unit. We always buy from Amazon- wonderful service!

  1. I have had the Mainstage HD since January now, and I love it. I purchased it as a package, with the Substage subwoofer for only 599. I loved it so much that I purchased a second HD that hides behind my couch for a discreet 5.1/6.1 real surround experience. When I purchased the FullstageHD (Mainstage + sub) I was really impressed. I put in Star Wars, action flicks, and even older films, to see how well it could hold up. It did. I must admit the high end isn't always the best, but it certainly isn't awful. I wouldn't have bought another one if it was! Now, with the second Mainstage the sound is INCREDIBLE. My friends and family could not believe the oomf this system had. The subwoofer is responsive as well and ads to the experience. This is the best space saver. And if you have the $$$ to blow, buy a second mainstagehd as a rear channel.

  2. I purchased this as a Surround Sound solution for a small room. I must say I am quite pleased with the sound quality and compactness of the unit. I do think the Surround Sound aspect of this product is a little over hyped. I have not noticed a significant difference in the Stereo mode vs the Surround Sound mode. The room the unit is is small but open with no back wall in close proximity to the unit, this may be contributing to the lack of the surround effect. Overall however it is infinitely superior to my TV speakers. If you want earth shattering Bass you might want to consider an add on sub woofer. I have found the Bass for the base unit to be quit sufficient for my needs. Overall I recommend this product to anyone that is looking for a compact home theatre experience without multiple speakers.

  3. My expectations were high for this product. When it arrived, it was packaged very nicely. The box is reusable and very durable. The quality of the sound did not live up to my expectations. I expected more separation in the surround mode, and bass response on par with a Bose Wave Radio. But it wasn't quite up to Bose standards. Hopefully I can get most of my money back on eBay. I'm thinking the Yamaha YSPs are a similar product, but sound much better, they cost more too.

  4. This unit sounds great. I've plugged in my tv, 2 dvd players and my stereo, hooked up my own Sub, plus the cable box and still have connections left over. For now the unit is in middle row of a tv stand with 2 inchs of clearance on each side, and about a inch and half on top, and a inch below, and the thing still makes a solid wall of sound.

  5. I placed this just under my TV inside the armoire. I used the fiberoptic connections and this thing really works great. What a huge difference between the TV alone and with this speaker. The sound literally is thrown at you and you do get a surround sound effect. I will say it is likely not as good as true surround speakers but this product will not let you down.

5 comments about Panasonic SC-PT1050 Deluxe Home Theater System with 5-DVD Changer.
  1. This system replaces a Denon circa 1995. Took about 40 minutes to set up. Sounds pretty good but I have heard better. I have optical lines hooked up from my SAT, PS3 and PS2 but wonder if I'm really getting the quality that I should. You may wish to shop around before purchasing. Not bad for an all-in-one system however.

  2. Sounds good for a wireless home theater system, and an excellent value for the cost. Does not sound as good as our wired system which cost voer 4 times as much, but you get what you pay for. Fine for most of the time viewing. No problems expierenced, but DVD up conversion not as good as we hoped, true HD signal, such as HD cable, provides a better picture.

  3. Excellent product for those who want good sound, but not the complexity or expense of buying individual components. Only issues in installation involved activating the subwoofer, and a lack of clarity surrounding making the audio connection.

  4. Unfortunately, the wireless function stopped working after one day of use. Nonetheless, I'm assuming that I just got a dud, and I'm giving a good review based on my experience while it was working. Other than volume lacking a bit as others have mentioned, I was very pleased with audio, picture quality, ease of setup - and disassembly :( Also worth mentioning that aesthetically, the unit is beautiful.

  5. Just installed this system. Have a total of 4hrs listening time on it, but I am pretty good at setup and sound adjustement. My previous system was a Sony Dream System(BTW, DO NOT BUY ONE!!!)and though it was a COMPLETE PILE OF UNRELIABLE CRAP, it sounded GREAT! The Sony's highs were significantly better than this system.
    PROs:
    1. Easy set up, no wires to snake everywhere. Rear speakers mounted on wall easy and box hidden under couch.
    2. SUB is AMAZING! This thing is nearly too much!
    3. Beautifuly crafted and finished(looks more expensive that it is!)
    4. Quick CD changes/swaps/and play feature.
    5. Surround is flawless. No delay, no 'unresponsive'. You would swear they were wired like a traditional system.
    CONs:
    1. I havnt been able to 'clean up' the sound. I like clear and crisp, and thus far, I havnt gotten it. That is a big dissapointment for me.
    2. Reciever is HUGE!
    3. Lack of PERSONAL sound adjustement(Treble, Mid, Lows, etc...).

Overall, this is a great product. It does exactly what it says, it is easy to set up(yes, sub included!) and it looks great. Just look at the reviews....if all you can find to complain about is the 'manual being too small', then it MUST be good!lol Now....if only I can figure out how to make the highs come out...

  1. Samsung HT-X50 5.1-Channel 5-Disc DVD Home Theater System
Coupled with my Sony HDTV and Blu-Ray, I have created a small theater that is as good as it gets. I am using the Toslink connect for both Comcast HDTV and Blu-Ray. Though I'd like a little more sound-molding capability, the price makes this a choice I'm pleased with.

  2. We are very satisfied with this product, after comparing Boze prices and quality. Low price, sound is great, smart idea.

  3. Work with my kingston 4GB USM memory and my Divx movies., excelente video. Play TDK DVD-R and Memorex DVD+R.

    Cons:
Fan cooler make a lot of noise.
Come without audio output, only video rca/comp/hdmi, you can't play and dvd sound.

  4. The system we bought seemed like a great balance of value and features. It worked well for about three months and now it shuts off automatically after about 5 minutes of operation. We've tried relocating the unit and a number of other measures, but to no avail.
I would not recomment the product based on our experience.

  5. This is a very good system. It is what we expected just wish it was wireless

5 comments about Philips 2.1 500Watt 1080I DVD Home Theatre System HTS6500/37.
  1. Played one dvd on this unit and after play the unit would not eject the disc. In fact the unit said 'no disc'. Nor would it play. I should have listened to the reviews on this site that said the player had major problems. Philips tech support actually had the nerve to suggest that I take it to a service center and PAY to have the disc removed which they claimed they would refund. For a brand new player, this is pathetic, particularly when so many other people seem to have had the same problem.

  2. Pros - excellent upconversion of SD DVD's to 1080i
solid virtual surround experience from a 2.1 system
    quality speakers
front USB and MP3 inputs are convenient and function great

Cons - no user defined EQ, you take what they give
    poor enhancement of dialog
    no digital AUX input
analog AUX input has LIMITED EQ features set for music, not movies
sound from my HD-DVD player is better through TV with HDMI

I loved it when I first got it about 6 months ago. With SD DVD's, I still do. The problem, though, is they didn't really make it to accept some expansion of your home theater.

After I got my HD-DVD player, I realized that the AUX input doesn't accept digital audio. I could live with that, but the system then doesn't allow movie EQ settings for the AUX, just music. So, if I want to choose the EQ when I'm running the HD-DVD, I have to choose between Rock, Jazz, Classical and Concert. Needless to say, it sounds awful.

As long as you're going to be using this system for SD DVD's, you will be very happy with it. You may also like the easy connection of a USB flash drive loaded with music.

  3. I bought this system a little over a year ago. After about 8 months, it won't recognize a DVD at all. The first time it did it, my wife and I didn't think anything about it. We went back to watching regular TV. Now 4 months later, we are still having the same problem and because the year warranty is up, Technical Support will not offer any advice. There only solution is for us to buy a refurbished system. From reading on-line, other buyers are having the same problem. If you want to listen to CD's and have a decent audio system, this is for you but I wouldn't spend the extra money since your not actually getting a DVD player.

  4. I have owned this system for just over a year. Almost immediately after the expiration of the warranty period, the device stopped recognizing DVDs. I loaded the most recent firmware, but that was no help. Customer service refused to contemplate a return, because, even though I had registered the device when I bought it and they knew the purchase date, I no longer have my receipt.

It appears other reviewers have had both the same problem with the machine and the same problem with customer "service." I will not buy another product from Phillips again under any circumstances. The price, in comparison with other two speaker systems, looks great at first, but a year down the road you'll be putting the machine in the trashcan.

  5. I went on to Amazon and saw the HTS6600 for the great price of $249.99 so purchased it. It normally sells for $500+. I however received the older HTS6500 model. I had to return it and get a refund. BEWARE: You are really ordering the old model. The picture and details on the page are incorrect.

On closer look of the HTS6600 page, the specs and reviews are all for the HTS6500. It is some Amazon error where they have attached the wrong item and picture to the page.

5 comments about Sony DAV-IS10 5.1-Channel Micro Satellite Home Theater System with TDM-IP1 iPod Cradle.
  1. I was initially interested in this system for my office. I wanted not only to have a system for music, iPod and iTunes/Airtunes but to hook up to my Projector as I use this as a home theater area as well (office area here is about 600 square feet). The speakers are incredibly small, something I wanted as to keep the look of the office clean. I worried that they would be too small to produce good sound, boy was I wrong. The sound is vastly superior to the previous system I had hooked up (Samsung HP-P50). Separation of sounds is clear and clean. The bass is excellent. Hookup was very easy and you do not have to use the proprietary cables if you want to work with existing in wall speaker wire as I had built into the office. Now I should point out I have two Bose systems in the home, both with small (although not anywhere as small) 5+1 speaker systems which cost considerably more money than this unit and I have to say, I think the Sony is just as good from a sound quality standpoint (although I'm still a very big Bose fan).

The controller unit is also very small and attractive. Only beef and this is minor is that it's a touch system and I found I would activate functionality (changing from DVD to FM) when I didn't intent to. Only one DVD/CD but not really an issue. The iPod dock unfortunately didn't work with my rather old (generation 2) iPod. That's not really Sony's fault. Since I have an iMac hooked up to an Airport Extreme, I can use Airtunes instead though I might get a newer iPod for this system (lower energy use, ability to control from the very nice and slim Sony remote).

For the price, quality and amazing small size of these 5 speakers (plus large and powerful bass) I'm very happy with this purchase. It appears that the state of the art in this kind of system exceeds the other Bose products I have which are 3-5 years older and at a far lower price point.

  2. I first saw this item in the Sony store and was really impressed with the performance of these little speakers. However after purchasing I was a little disappointed with it's sound output and the lack of ports to connect added accessories to expand it's use.

  3. This product was easy to install and set up. When a DVD is loaded, it immediately goes to the HDMI site and plays. The picture is near perfect, like HD or Blue Ray. The only problem is the volume, which could be much higher. All in all, it is very good.

  4. I have a 42" Panasonic plasma and sit abound 12 feet from the TV (medium size room). Most home theater systems I looked at were huge and complex.

The Sony DAV-IS10 works well for me because it is a sleak system which delivers good sound - good combination of looks and sound. The biggest negative for me is the sound has to be turned up to about 80 percent to be really loud, which seems high. Those that want super loud may want more.

  5. If you are looking for a compact home theater you should consider DAV-IS10. First of all the system provides a real surround despite the size. Second of all, it`s stylish and has a upscaler dvd player.

    The conexions:

HDMI - I use the hdmi port with my Sony Bravia
Optical input - I use with the PS3
RCA input - I use with airport (itunes)

Remember it`s not a professional home theater, but if you want to save space and buy a system with nice features, good surround i think this is a splendid option. It really works for me.

5 comments about Panasonic SC-PT750 Deluxe 5 DVD Home Theater System.
  1. I thought Panasonic was a reputable brand. I regrettably sold my previous DVD Home Theatre System which was also Panasonic for the SC-PT750. First off the Ipod dock doesn't work w/ my 4th gen Ipod period. It charges it but that's it. Second it kills my Wi-Fi connection like mentioned in a previous review I seem to have ignored. Third it doesn't work with my HDMI cable which is the entire reason I bought it!! I called customer service only to be put on hold and eventually hung up on. I am assuming they would tell me to buy a Panasonic Cable for $50 which is ridiculous considering my $20 cable has worked fine on my PS3. Looks like I won't be listening to music while on the internet (internet only works when the system is comletely off, not just the rear speakers, I think I may just unhook them all together)! Needless to say I am exteremely dissapointed in the system. STAY AWAY. Go w/ a standard dvd player and expand later.

  2. I am very pleased with this home theater system for $199.97 you can't beat it! My place is pretty small so it fills the living room up with great sound. I love the wireless speakers. But like with others I have a problem with my wireless internet. I haven't used my computer yet while the speakers are running but my xbox does not recieve its wireless signal while the wireless speakers are running. Which to me is not a big deal, just hit the button on the remote and I have wireless running again. I love that my iPod just hooks right in and plays all my music, which is great when you have company over. If only it was sirius ready instead of XM that would be perfect!

  3. The Front speakers are great, but the sub and rear speakers are Bad. I have to buy a new sub and replace the old one to appreciate the bass of music. The "wireless" rear speakers are not REALLY wireless and it sound terrible. so if your looking for sound and doesn't need a upconvert dvd player don't buy this.

  4. The wireless rear speakers are not wireless. If your room is over 20 feet wide, there is no way you can have the speakers on each side of the room. Even if you did, the wires connecting the two speakers to the remote box would still have to be hidden. Wireless rear speakers is an oxymoron. You have rear speakers connected to a remote box by wires.

  5. This is not a high end audio system but it is just what I was looking for. The price was right and the shipping went fine. I would recommend this product to anyone looking to purchase a suitable surround sound system.

5 comments about Philips AmbiSound Home Theater Sound Bar with Integrated 1080p-Upscaling DVD/MP3 Player.
  1. I was expecting a more surround sound experience, but it lacks in this dept. Great sound though and looks very sharp..Very simple to setup as well.

  2. This item was delivered in a very well packed box with a lot of protective foam. Very easy to set up and get going. Very sleek and good looks and all cables were included.
Not too fond on how the cables pug into the back, but with the cover on it does cover up the mess. The Subwoofer is also the units power and AM/FM radio and looks as good as the main speaker unit.
The sound is great, talk about loud. The ambisound is noticeable when pressing the button on the, also good looking, remote. I had aproblem with the video from the DVD player, but found out it was my fault as I had run the HDMI cable around my TV stand, thus pulling on the HDMI cable plug in on the TV and not making a god connection.
The Ipod connector works well, I don't have a video IPod, so I'm not sure if that works. The IPod menu is accessed on the TV and using the system remote is pretty simple to use.
Overall I am extremely pleased with this purchase. I was going to go with Bose system but did not want to put up the $1000 for it. I got everything I needed and more with this system.

  3. To start, I have to say that this sound bar deserves a 5 star rating for it's look alone. The fact that Philip's has managed to pack a DVD player into it, is pure genius. So then why am I giving it a 4 star rating? A few small things really (Intruth, I'd give it a 4.5 if Amazon allowed 1/2 stars).

Included in the box is almost everything you'll need for the install. The only thing missing? - an audio cable to run from your TV back to the sound bar so you can listen to your TV through the sound bar (if you're using a digital receiver/satelite receiver, you'll need to supply the audio cable to run back to the subwoofer because all of the 5.1 decoding is done in the sub). Wall braket, HDMI cable, MP3 line-in, Ipod dock with video out cable and AM/FM receivers all included. Set-up shouldn't take you more than a half hour.

Once installed, DVD performance was excellent. The upconverted image (720p for my TV) is great, and the audio is crisp & clear. The simulated surround sound is very good and the sound field created is wide enough that at times things seem to be happening around you. The bass from the sub is present, but there are times when you may wish you could turn it up (which you can't - the sub's output is fixed. All you can do is turn up the volume to the whole system). But let's remember, this isn't meant to be your home theater - this is better suited to dress up & enhance your living room.

Now, music reprodution is the systems flaw in my ears (ha). Admittedly, I'm a bit of an audiophile when it comes to music, so most people probably wouldn't notice this, but music seems to be slightly muddled from the sound bar. I found there were times that I couldn't make out the individual instruments on some songs. Having said that, for my own use I have found that it works great as a music player for dinner parties or when friends stop by for drinks.

There is one slight design flaw as well. The plug in for the Ipod dock is located on the side of the sound bar instead of the back. This placement makes hiding the dock cable virtually impossible. When I'm not using the dock I unplug the cable and tuck it in the mounting braket to maintain the clean look (I buried all the cables in the wall, so this is important to me)

Overall though, this is a great system at a great price.

  4. My goal was to purchase a good quailty sound system without having to wire up 5 to seven speakers. I looked at Denon systems and Bose systems and decided on the Philips for price and the fact that I purchased a Philips 42 inch LCD TV and the Philips Ambisound mates up nicely with the TV.

Easy to wire. Easy to set up.

I was not expecting theater like surround sound experience from the Ambisound but this product comes close. I can turn up the volume and bass thru the subwoofer and drive the rest of the family out of the house with it. The sound quality is very good on TV, CD and DVD. The disc player works well and I like the the way the player cover slides open for disc loading. You can't tell that there is a CD/DVD player in the speaker bar when the cover is closed.

The Ambisound looks good and the controls integrate nicely with the Philips TV it is hooked too. It comes with an iPod dock (this is an extra with the Denon system)so you can listen/watch to your iPod music/video library through it.

I am happy I purchased this product and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good quality two piece (speaker bar and subwoofer) system.

  5. Be careful buying this product if you expect to upconvert to 1080p resolution. There is a discussion thread concerning this in the discussion area so check it out. Essentially you get significant video noise in the form of green vertical lines in 1080p. Frankly, the more I read the more I suspect that most people simply haven't tried 1080p and thus haven't encountered this yet. Or they don't have a 1080p capable TV. Could be wrong about that but I do know that Philips has their head in the sand when it comes to this problem and their customer service (if you can even call it that) is horrible. Too bad because the unit is a good idea, looks great, and otherwise functions as advertised. I'd wait until another company with a clue comes out with something similar in Blue Ray.

  1. I'd like to start by saying Amazon.com is about $100 cheaper than a walk-in store. I bought this system and the sound quality is much better than my old Kenwood system. The speakers are decent sounding with typical particle wood construction and a "piano" finish. It has 2 HDMI inputs and 1 output. There isn't audio decoding through HDMI, though if you are like me, I use the toslink for everything (Sat, DVD and Xbox360). Bass from the subwoofer is deep and powerful. The user manual could be written a little better. The price vs. sound quality strikes a perfect balance and I am glad I purchased it.
