  1. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY, i REPEAT, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. I used this product for one day, that's right, one day, ONE DAY. Now I can NOT get power to the transmitter. Personally, I will not again buy a Cables Unlimited product, I strongly suggest you do the same. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT, i REPEAT, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PRODUCT, IT IS GARBAGE!! You have been warned.

  2. It's pretty rare when the best priced choice turns out to be the best product. I really studied this purchase before ordering because these headphones were so cheap compared to the others. This is the third set of wireless headphones we've purchased. They are by far the best value.

  3. I WOULD RECOMEND THIS PRODUCT TO THOSE WHO LIKE LISTENING TO THERE FAVORITE MUSIC. WITHOUT HAVING ALL THAT TROUBLE USING STEREO HEADPHONES WITH THE WIRES ATTACH TO IT. PLAYS GOOD FOR THE PRICE YOU CANT BEAT IT. FOR THE PRICE ITS VERY LIGHT WEIGHT AND EASY TO CARRY.

5 comments about BOSE(R) Triport Headphone - Silver.
  1. People like to badmouth Bose because of their rather aggressive marketing techniques. True, they charge more for their products than really necessary. Apparently, though, Bose is filling a niche since people continue to purchase their products.

I purchased a pair of Bose Tri-Ports for $160 at a local big box store several years ago. I was introduced to them by a good friend and they did sound pretty good to my ears. Up until that point the best headphones I had ever used were a pair of Koss KTX-Pro's and some other, nicer Koss model. Nothing against the KTX-Pro's; they are excellent in their own ways and my pair has lasted over 10 years of travel and punishment. Not bad for $20 'phones. The Tri-Ports lasted about a year when I suddenly started hearing a loud buzzing in the right earpiece after playing some bass heavy music. Of course, as is the case with such things, this was a month after the warranty had expired!

    * Design and comfort: The Bose Tri-Ports are easily the most comfortable headphones I've ever owned. The only caveat is that the headband is rather narrow, and after about two hours of listening, the top of my head would be a bit sore. The earpieces are quite roomy. The vinyl earpads make a nice seal against the side of your head. They make such a good seal that it actually works as a weak form of passive noise reduction. Now I never had an issue with them physically snapping in half as some other reviewers have stated, but I did notice a loose plastic strip at one of the stress points. This could probably be fixed easily with a piece of black electrical tape or a dab of super glue. They are certainly not small, so traveling with them may not be as convenient as a pair of fold-up headphones.

    * Sound: Ah, sound quality. They have decent sound quality. That's about all I can say. Compared to past headphone experiences they were a revelation in audio fidelity, but looking back on them after owning other headphones, they are just OK. The treble isn't as clear as some discerning listeners may like, but it's there. The midrange is OK if my memory serves me correctly. The bass is pretty wide. I'd say they had a low frequency hump that went from about 40hz all the way up to 150hz (just speculation based on memory.) It is enhanced by the multiple bass port design on the outside of the earpieces. Hence the name. I'm kind of surprised no other company came up with this porting idea before Bose. Interesting.

Overall though, I'd say give them a listen, but don't pull the trigger on them until you've really done some critical comparisons with lower-priced models. I didn't have that opportunity. I replaced them eventually with a pair of Sony MDR-V6 Studio Monitor headphones (same as the 7506's mentioned in other reviews, minus the gold-plated plugs.) They were $70 + s&h from a New York retailer, they fold up, and can be retro-fitted with nicer plush earpads. I'm very happy with the very robust and durable V6's.

In the end it's all about what the listener wants. But again, I would suggest doing some research before putting your money on these.

  2. I've been waiting a while to write this because I was really expecting them to break, but its been almost a full year now since I bought these headphones, and I have to say they are impressive. If you love music, do yourself a favor. These things sound better than most speaker systems. If you make music, you need these! There are sounds like deep base that no other headphones can reproduce due to there size. These headphones re-produce audio like a big speaker system.

As long as you don't jump up and down on them, they are very tough. I've been carrying mine around with me in Iraq for 11 months now, rotating through a FOB, and an outpost that causes me to have to pack up my stuff and move every few days, and my Bose have survived drops, kicks, being sat on,and being tossed across the room when someone else trips over the cord. I've been caught up on the cord and not known it, and pulled the jack out of the plug, or yanked on the cord where it enters the headphones many times, and they are still as good as new.

I normally hate headphones because no mater how much padding they have, they hurt after hours of wear. I can sit down after a patrol and watch several movies in a row without even noticing they are on, and the guy in the cot next to me can't here the audio, even if its blasting.

The day these things finally stop working, I'm going to buy a new set, or possibly the next model up.

    Highly recommended!

  3. I love these Bose Headphones; I would buy them again; They work perfectly, & do not hurt your head like many of them do. I strongly recommend them.

  4. The light construction is perfect for me...I use these when I record music and I can wear these comfortably for hours at a time (3-4). The sound is amazing and I like "over the ear" rather than "on the ear" because I wear glasses. I've had mine for over a year and they travel in my guitar effects case and I haven't had any troubles with construction integrity or signal shorts. My only suggestion would be for Bose to package them in a hardshell plastic case rather than the nylon bag. The icing on the cake was that I was able to buy them for $99 on a musicians gear website.

  5. I've owned many headphones over the years but this is the best pair I've ever owned. The sound quality is excellent, they are very comfortable for long periods of time, and they are lightweight. They make a nice seal around the ears that really reduces outside noise and this has the added advantage of not needing the top bar pressed against your hair to make them stay on your head. They also come with a long cord, an important feature when trying to use them in a larger room for, say, watching movies. The other reviews all warned about durability but I've owned these for nearly a year and have shoved them into a cramped briefcase every day and nothing has worn or broke. I'm not sure how much more durable you can get than that. The only downside to these headphones is the relatively high price but I think you get quite a bit for the money.

Overall, this is an excellent pair of headphones and worth the price tag.

  1. Looking for a Y-connector for headsets to use with an iPod or other MP3 player or with a laptop? Consider the following product, which is on another Amazon web page:

    Monster AICYP 200 iSplitter 200 Mini Y-Adapter for iPod w/ Volume Control/Mute (AICYP 200)

The specs for the Monster AICYP 200 iSplitter say it connects two sets of headphone to iPod, MP3 player, laptop, portable CD/DVD/game system, and smart phone. It has built-in dual volume controls enable individual listening levels and individual mute switches.

And the the Monster AICYP 200 iSplitter is currently $6.47 less.

I don't know if the AICYP 200 iSplitter on the other page is any different than the one for the Zune and therefore can't recommend the the Monster AICYP 200 iSplitter if you have a Zune. But if you don't have a Zune, then there is no reason to spend the extra money (based on current pricing) on the splitter for the Zune.

  1. I have had these a week now and am EXTREMELY pleased ! And no, I'm not a "younger person", lol. Mid 40's and lUv my muZic. I have bought a handful of different earbuds and small headphones for my mp3 players and haven't really liked any of them. Earbuds kill your ears after an hour or so and never really fit both my ears, as they are different IDs. Plus I like to be able to hear what is happening around me.
Use these outside and inside, while in my workshop, sitting at the lake, on the deck, rolling around in the yard and while surfing. I'd use them while riding my handcycle but I don't want to sweat all over them.

They are VERY comfortable, very lightweight, excellent sound quality, ya don't have to set the volume high to hear all the instruments/frequencies either. I listen to all types of music and they ALL sound great on these. Wiring is flexible AND high quality. They are WELL BUILT, fold up and stow in minimal space. Oh yeah, they look cool as well, ya don't have to be a teenager to appreciate THAT... most of us, anyway.
    John

  2. I think everyone else has the headphone specs covered, so I just wanted to comment on the MacRed color, which currently sells for a spectacular $20.93 here. It's a muted warm plum color with a metallic sheen, which is far better than the fire engine red I thought I was going to get. I would get this color even if it weren't the cheapest one available.

To add a bit to the specs, the sound quality is rich, clear, and very satisfying. The headphones also fit somewhat loosely and awkwardly on my head when I wear my glasses, so I wouldn't strongly recommend this if you usually wear thick framed glasses. The whole thing is made of light plastic, but I expected that from small headphones like these. Overall, I'm really pleased with these headphones.

  3. I just received my pink Lowrider headphones in the mail today and was pretty excited. That excitement went right down the drain as soon as I put them on. I was expecting exceptional bass and sound and to be honest, that isn't what I got. These headphones were replacing some I bought from the Dollar Store (yes, you heard that right) and the ones from the Dollar Store had MORE bass than these. I feel like I have wasted my money. Although the sound is clear, it just isn't perfect and if these didn't cost 30 dollars (and I hadn't ordered them online) I would gladly switch back to my Dollar Store headphones. Even messing with the equilibrium settings on my iPod Classic didn't do much. If you're looking for exceptional bass quality, believe me, these AREN'T for you. I'd buy them for cheap but not for the price they're asking. It's just not worth it. AND, they keep falling off of my head and they're at the smallest width possible.

    At least they're cute.

  4. These headphones are sweet to look at, but not so hot on functionality. They fit fine, but I'm disappointed in volume quality and control. Your money could be put to better use ... Sony, Bose or such.

  5. I really love this product from Skullcandy! It hits hard with the bass, as well as delivering well on rock songs as well. It is a great, all-around headphone.

My one beef is that they do fall off fairly easy. Look down, and they are on the floor. I wish it took a little more to get them to come off.

I love the portable fold option that these are made with, but it does such sometimes taking them from around my neck, since the part that bends sometimes catches my hair. Not necessarily the worst thing, but sometimes can be annoying.

Overall a great product from Skullcandy. These are probably my favorite headphones that I own.

5 comments about SMC WSKP100 802.11G Wireless Skype Phone.
  1. I bought this phone through Skype store and then returned it. It would automatically disconnect from the network. I could not hear the other person every other call. It reacts very slow to the keypad. The few available ringers are awful and not loud enough. It's a nice toy, but it cannot replace the land line. I instead bought Philips VOIP8411B and it works nicely.

  2. This product does indeed let you make wi-fi Skype calls. BUT, there are many problems. Probably the biggest is the fact that you can only talk for 20 minutes before the battery dies. In addition the screen is very slow to respond to keyboard inputs. This phone in no way lives up to the expectations created by comparably priced cell phones. Skype should not have endorsed this piece of technology.

  3. We got this phone to call to landline and cell phones in the US with SkypeOut. A few months later, we've learned to avoid using it whenever possible.

It constantly shuts off in the middle of calls, despite having nearly full battery. Throughout the day we hear its "swoop" sound indicating it was disconnected from Skype, for whatever reason - yet none of the computers on the network have any problems staying connected.

The echo is so bad that nearly everyone we call mentions it - with the included headset, it is better but still a problem. And even at full volume it's difficult to hear the person you're talking to.

The phone interface is unintuitive in many ways. Often it's hard to tell whether you pressed one of the plastic keypad buttons or not - or whether the phone is just frozen temporarily.

  4. I was SO excited about getting this item. I thought I would be able to make calls at some places where my laptop can pick up a signal out and about and use it at home also. Well, this crappy piece of plastic does not even work at my house! My cordless phone at home has a much better range.

When people try to call you the phone NEVER RINGS! You can be sitting right beside someone testing the phone for you and the call goes straight to voice mail. It is not a settings problem. It is just WRONG!!! You walk into another room just feet away and you have NO SIGNAL. If you walk in front of the phone in the same room with your internet connection your call disconnects. You can make a few calls if you sit in one spot but keep your fingers crossed because the call is likely to disconnect for no reason at any moment even when you are sitting right beside your internet access!

If you are lucky you may make a couple phone calls without the phone disconnecting but make them short calls and talk really fast just in case. Don't expect anyone to be able to reach you on this phone. You will be as if you are invisible.

If you are at a location in the street where there is supposed to be free wireless access, you also can not move or let anyone walk in front of your phone. You can't even let a good breeze blow or the call will disconnect. That is IF you find a wireless access point where you don't have to enter a WEP key or something.

I was able to make one call out in the street at a wireless access point but of course the call disconnected within the first few words of the conversation. I can make a short call on it in my house if I hold my breath, don't move and don't allow any movement in the room.

I don't know if any of the other WIFI phones work but this one is ABSOLUTELY A PIECE OF JUNK! Save your money unless you just want a toy to put on the shelf after one failed test call. I do better with Skype on my laptop at wireless points. At least that workss. I honestly HOPE they refine this so that it works because I really do want this type of product.... But this is not it!

  5. I bought this with great hopes for telephony freedom - the ability to travel anywhere in the world while keeping my number, and straight ditching my conventional phoneline when I got broadband... However this was not to be.
It's reception is mediocre at best, if you're leaning on the walls housing the hotspot, you'll get reception - there will be no reception while driving, and although you may be able to check your messages with low reception, talking is hopeless.
Conversation is laggy, and quite akin to 1950's radio communication - "Hi, how are you, over."
Yes, you can have it on all day, perhaps even talk a good chunk of it, but two? Absolutely not. Again, frustrating and kinda defeating it's appeal to a road warrior.
I bought a cradle for it, and that's nice for battery if I'm home, but doesn't help it's crappy firmware or power management.
There is no 'lock keys' on it at this time. I blew about a third of my minutes from it dialing my friends with it's ghetto little stick control from my pocket.
If you power it down after every call, you don't dial out, but it's largely a glorified pager at that point.
It's heavy, clunky, and it's screen scratches easily.
I called SMC and vented some frustration - I explained that I had better reception results using the Belkin firmware (this was an option a while ago, I haven't used this phone in easily a year...) and detailed my frustrations listed above. The tech sent me a free phone, saying that he was sure I had a defective unit, and to accept a free one instead of going on a reviews rampage (my threat at the time). Fine.
Fast forward six months, and that tech is nowhere to be seen, any my little gift (which I didn't use because it sucked too) has become an advance RMA (where I send in the old one). So SMC mailed me until I put 'em on the spamblocker.
Avoid this terrible parody of communication, this nightmare of customer service, and buy something, ANYTHING else.

The sound quality is excellent however, if you have good service, and patience for 2000ms voice latency.

5 comments about Koss UR29 Collapsible Portable Headphones.
  1. When I first bought these headphones I was amazed at the quality and at how well they blocked out outside sounds, allowing me to really hear what was coming through the headphones. Whether I am using these on my computer, keyboard or with my guitar I get excellent sound, and all for such a reasonable price.

  2. when you plug these in a stereo and turn up the bass, mid, and treble it is quite amazing. the also cancel noise very well too. with this price it is the perfect product

  3. i love these headphones...they aren't sold as noise cancelling, but they do a pretty good job of it anyway. i've had these for a couple of years now...great sound, very comfortable!

  4. I see a lot of people complaining about these not lasting a long time - I have had a different experience; I bought these over 4 years ago and they just barely gave up the ghost, and only because I was careless pulling them out of my backpack (one of the sides broke off). If I had put them in a case or small bag or something, I wouldn't be replacing them.

For the money, the sound and functionality and comfort of these is great - I have used them at work for long periods of time (sometimes wearing them 7 hours of an 8 hour work day) and notice very little fatigue; I also own a pair of Ultimate Ears super.fi 5 Pro earphones (retail for $250) and while they sound better, they are only marginally better considering the cost.

To sum it up, I am actually replacing my now-broken UR-29s with a new pair of the same - that is how much I like them and consider them a good deal. Unless you are super picky and looking to impress someone else, these are an amazing deal that you should jump on. Just make sure you treat them with respect, anything abused will break and YMMV.

  5. I've owned two pairs of these headphones in the last four years, both purchased from Radio Shack: one in Indianapolis, Indiana, and the other in Fairbanks, Alaska.

On first use, these headphones are great. They do an excellent job of blocking outside sounds, provide good sound quality when compared with the cost, and are somewhat durable. I've run into problems with the plastic earphone coverings shaving off over time, but that's not my main problem.

The main problem I've had is that the volume control on the headphone cable is designed poorly. Though the cable can take some beating, any shocks to the headphone volume control will cause the connections within to eventually loosen and cause sound loss. In my use, I went from nice stereo sound to staticky stereo sound to poor mono sound to no sound at all over the course of several weeks.

In my first set of headphones, I was able to remedy the problem by cracking open the plastic casing of the volume control and doing a little DIY repair. When the second pair began to die after just a few weeks, I threw them away and got a pair of headphones I knew I could trust.

In short, don't be fooled by initial impressions. Though these are good headphones on the surface, I can't recommend them due to their poor durability.
