  1. like a said in the title these headphones are great! i'm a great fan of metal and i always find CD's ranging from Rush to Judas priest in my CD player. those ear piece headphones are really annoying cuz they slip out of ur ear when ur moving. these however are always stable and barely move. I know this because i always thrash and bang my head. i originally found these at borders and they looked cool and they were cheap so i bought them. i was shocked at home when i found that these headphones were pretty heavy in bass. i don't mind that actually. i found it much better than ear phones! they need a bit getting used to at first but otherwise its great! the sound comes in perfectly. another thing is that i somehow end up accidently pulling on the wire thing but it always stays put. i was afraid that the wires in the headphones would break but they never do.

so overall what i'm trying to say it that these headphones are great because they are comfortable, durable, and cheap.

  2. got these headphones for 5 bucks, mainly for its isolation. does a good job muffling the bus engine noise. bass is too strong though, but is easily fixed. also needs a sweet spot on the ears, or it might feel uncomfortable after a long time (but everybodys got different shaped ears anyway). gold connector is also a nice addition.

  3. The sound of the headphones were great but they are very uncomfortable when I put them on my ears. They are not adjustable.

  4. Granted, these inexpensive 'cans' (mine cost ten bucks at Borders) are not going to sound nearly as 'musical', detailed, or accurate as a pair of 2 or 3 hundred dollar Sennheiser or Beyerdynamics, but the good news is that they are a decent value for the money and sound better than most cheap 'cans' or earpieces that come with your portable device. They work very well with portable audio devices such as mp3, CD, or FM units because of their low impedance. However, the sound is unquestionably 'veiled' and muddy at times, and it would be worth your while to spend forty or fifty bucks on a better set of portable 'cans' if you want real 'high-end' sound with more liveliness and inner-detail. Look at the Sennheiser PX100 or the AKG K26P if you want to realize the full potential of your portable devices. If you're on a low budget, these will definitely do, however you're selling yourself short if you're seeking to hear the full potential of your music.

  5. These are exactly what I needed! I work on a farm and like to drown out the noise while I listen to my music.

They're fairly sturdy. They're inexpensive, so I don't have to worry about getting them nasty. The sound quality is decent (good for the price). The bass is nice but the high-end is a little lacking. They drown noise out well and are quite comfortable. There's no volume adjuster on the cord. I see that as an advantage as my old phone's volume slider used to get moved around while I was working.

These are perfect headphones for someone who listens to music while doing manual labor.

If you want some headphones for casual mp3 use, then you'd be better off getting something like the KTXPRO1. They don't drown out noise, but the sound quality is superior to the UR-10-- particularly on the high end.

  1. These ear buds are a little more comfortable than most other hard plastic ear buds, but what is best is they sound great! I have a hard time with earbuds this size due to small ears, so I have tried a lot of brands and styles. They were not the perfect fit for me, but it's almost worth the slight discomfort (your mileage may vary) my weird ears give me for the sound. They're reasonable too, so you can't go wrong.

I have pairs of Earbuds that cost much more that sound significantly inferior.

  2. ***
This earbuds are as cute as could be, sound great, and are durable, but are very, very uncomfortable. I can only wear mine for about a half hour before they begin to hurt and after an hour I have to take them out---then that's it for the whole day. They are a somewhat soft rubber on the outside but the inside is hard plastic; they are comparable in quality to the earbuds that come with iPod nanos. For the price they are adequate, but you can spend about the same or a bit more and get earbuds that are all this and that you can wear for longer as well.

I ended up buying some "Koss "The Plug" Portable Headphones" for under $20 and can wear them all day; I would recommend something like this instead.

I do like the colors that these earbuds come in, but they are more than an accessory for me and have to be usable as well. The sound quality is just fine for a cheaper ear bud---no complaints here.

Mine often fall out because they do not change their shape to accommodate your ear; your ear must change shape to fit this earbud, hence the discomfort.
    ***

  3. I have tried just about every brand and price for earbud style earphones. In addition, I have tiny ears and it is hard to find earphones that stay in my ear and do not fall out. (Only this brand and the new Sony headphones fit my ears) Most earphones are too large and HURT my ears. These are 5 star rated because:
    1) The best sound quality I have heard both in BASS AND TREBLE, and all sounds in between. I use these for: AUDIOBOOKS, MUSIC and PODCAST SHOWS. All types of these have superior sound using these earphones.
    2) They are so so comfortable and do not fall out of my ears.
    3) They are used for jogging and speedwalking and other exercising. They stay in my ears.
    4) They are used for traveling and are lightweight and comfortable and store easily in my purse with my MP3 player or CD/MP3 player.
    SUPERB PRODUCT!

  1. Despite never having much luck with in-ear headphones, I still bought the Philips SHE9501's the other day to give them a try. Drowning out my coworkers is a science I'm trying to perfect.

I can't understand why people are saying these don't provide enough bass, because if they had any more, my brain would rattle around in my skull. I found the bass to be deep, clear and distinct for this price. I DO have an issue with the top end. I still had to EQ the heck out of the high side to get crisp sounds out of these (iPod & iTunes). Once I did, they were satisfactory.

The fit is snug, but not totally air-tight. The plugs come with 2 extra ear pad sizes, neither of which worked for me better than the middle-size already mounted. IMPORTANT: Because the ear pads are of a very thin rubber type, and not compressible foam, I feel that these won't provide the total sound isolation some might be wishing for.

These use the "love-em or hate-em" asymmetrical cord people talk about. I can see the point. With the cord behind your neck, it keeps the thin wire from dangling right under your chin, which tends to be annoying while walking or sitting at a desk.

Overall, I'm happy with the fit and the good bass response, but disappointed with the high end clarity. Next time I'm going to try Sony, or just bite the bullet and spend a bunch more on some expensive Shure in-ear plugs.

  2. These headphones are excellent! The best I've had; I'm amazed to find such quality for the price. At work, the extended cord lets me have them plugged into my computer and retain the freedom to move my head or move in my chair without dislodging them. When I work out, using an mp3 player armband, the different lengths of the cord makes them perfect - you can move your head without pulling the earbuds out of your ears or accidentally unplugging the cord. Sound quality is amazing, and the earbuds are very comfortable, unlike pricier versions I have tried. They also don't fall out of your ears when you're running, another problem I used to have. Not anymore! I highly recommend this product.

  3. Let me start with a caveat: I'm not an audiophile, just someone who enjoys listening to music on my ipod. These are a great investment for someone looking to upgrade from the ear buds that typically come standard with ipods and other mp3 players without laying out a lot of cash.

    What's good:
    - These do a great job at cutting down external noise--I use them on my metro ride to work every day.
    - Also, the sound is much better than those that came with my ipod.

    What's not so good:
    - If you're looking for superior bass, these probably won't cut it. The bass is an improvement over the pair that came standard with my ipod, but if bass is important to you then you probably won't find a pair of ear buds that meets your needs at this pricepoint.

  4. i've had philips items before, and they've never ever let me down. i had a walkman for about 10 years, and it's still going. they usually have wonderful products.
but when it comes to in ear headphones, the story is completely different.
i recieved this headphones (costing my mum $50) as a gift. the very first day i used them, the jack for the extension cord broke in half, leaving the plug part in my ipod. it was a huge hassle to just take out of the ipod jack, and the extension cord is now completely useless. i was forced to use the shorter headphone cords, which wouldn't even reach my pocket. they must be designed for midgets!
the bass is not that bad, it is much beter than apple in ear headphones.. but that's about it. when i'm listening to these headphones, there is an extremely annoying buzzing noise.
the buds don't fit properly in my ear, i tried al three sizes. the big ones don't work at all, obviously. the tiny ones fit for about five minutes before starting to fall out. they are extremely uncomfortable.

  5. I'm on my way to the store to return these right after I finish this review.

Like many others, I bought these to use with my ipod. There is almost no bass response and the volume level is very low. I had to turn up my ipod all the way simply to hear the music. Just to make sure I wasn't crazy, I switched back and forth between these and the original ipod earbuds. The ipod earbuds have more bass and volume by far.

  1. Okay I consider myself a very knowledgeable and informed consumer. I have tried many a pair of earbuds in my day. I have owned Shure E2c, Sony EX-51 and 71's, and the V-Moda Vibes. I just bought the V-Moda's and love them. I almost bought the Skullcandy 11mm FMJ but online but insisted on the vibes. Well I was in a Mar$hall'$ yesterday and found the FMJ 11mm for 29 bones. I was shocked because I was ready to spend about 70 to get them online. So I picked up a pair expecting to return them 2 hours later. Let me tell you they give the vibes a run for their money. The bass is very clean and powerful more so than the vibes. The vibes still have better reproduction of mids and highs, but not by much. I was totally surprised how good the Skullcandy product was especially because all the audiophiles out there instist their products are garbage. They would be as shocked as I was if they only listened to FMJ 11mm. If I compared them to the Shure e2c, the FMJ's are far superior. I would say stay away from the Shure's. They are way overpriced and sound tinny and thin. The Sonys were ok (decent sound and pretty good bass), but cheaply made hence the 51's then the 71's. Regular headphones will always be better, but Kudos to Skullcandy for the excellent product. A+

  2. What is in the box:
1 pair of 11mm Skullcandy Full Metal Jacket Earbuds
    1 extension cord - about 3ft long
3 sets of rubber ear pieces - 1 small, 1 medium, 1 large
2 sets of foam ear pieces - all same size
    1 drawstring carrying bag

I own both the 9mm and the 11mm FMJ earbuds and the 11mm is quite an improvement. These are louder and the bass has more boom to them. You will not be disappointed with the bass on these things. The quality of material also seems to be better when compared to the 9mm. The cord is sturdier and chrome plated rather than just a rubber cord. The cord is about 3 feet long which should be long enough for most people. The extension cord adds about another 3 feet which extends long than my entire body.

I have never used foam ear pieces before, so it took me some time to figure out a way to fit them in my ear properly. Before I was just shoving them into my ear like normal earbuds and it felt a bit uncomfortable. The real key is to squish the ear pieces to make them thinner, then put them into your ear and let them expand back after a few seconds. This allows a much better fit and an easier time inserting them into your ears.

I have only one minor con. The 9mm featured a in-line volume control slider that is missing in the 11mm version. This is only a minor gripe as I don't consider volume control to be a major feature.

You'll never have to worry if they break, because all Skullcandy products comes with a limited lifetime warranty. Overall, the 11mm FMJs exceeds the 9mm in almost every possible way. From sound quality, to accessories, to craftsmanship quality, it is all an improvement. Unless you find the 9mm for cheap, I highly recommend to go straight for the 11mm Full Metal Jackets.

  3. I bought the Skullcandy earbuds (in gray) for my iPhone, to replace the awful ones included with the phone, and am thrilled with the sound, quality and really everything about them. Highly recommend!

  4. I bought these headphones for my girlfriend. She likes to run on her treadmill and also outside around the neighborhood. The headphones she was using before were her junk ipod ones. The problems she had with the ipod ones were: they couldn't stay in her ear whilst running, they had poor sound quality which in my opinion makes running with music stink, and the cord seemed to get tangled up all the time.

This product solved all of those problems and also surpassed out expectations on sound quality. I put them in and was amazed. I'm very happy with my purchase. Yeah, they were pretty expensive, but I figure buy it once keep it for life. These things definitely seem like they are going to hold up for a long, long time too.

p.s. it comes with a cool carrying case and neat stickers! haha.

  5. First thing, let me just say that people who complain about there being too much bass have forgotten what music is SUPPOSED to sound like. These headphones are absolutely incredible. I have been listening to my ipod more than when I first bought it three years ago! I will never go to another brand. I'm sold, completely.

  1. I was looking forward to these, as traditional earbuds fall out of my ears with the slightest jostle or bump. I couldn't figure out how something this big is supposed to fit into a space the size of an ear opening. They are 1"x3/4" big. I passed this around at work and nobody else could figure out how to make them fit, either.

Maybe that's why the only picture of them actually IN an ear is a drawn one.

  2. These earbuds had pretty decent sound but I had two big problems with them.
1/ They didn't fit quite right. Especially my left ear was irritated by these buds.
2/The padding wore out quite quickly around the edges leaving a hard plastic to irritate my ears.

  3. I have average size ears and these fit just fine. They also stay put. Can't say much about wear and tear because I just got them recently. I don't know how you can wear out the foam that quickly unless you are constantly forcing these too hard into your ear.

The sound quality is also very good.

  4. Some people collect figurines or autographs, I collect headphones. I'm not really an audiophile, so to be honest, most headphones sound pretty good to me. They do not all, however, fit well, and fit is where these Altec Lansing headphones excel, in my view.

I primarily use my 'phones when I'm working out, and I tend to sweat quite a bit. I've had Bose in-ear phones that popped out and got all staticky when they got wet (otherwise, they sounded great, though). Ditto on the popping out for my Koss memory foam ones and also for my Philips.

These Altec Lansings, on the other hand, stay completely put when I wear them working out. I don't even feel them in there. I can see why people THINK they don't fit, though, because at first it doesn't feel natural or secure at all. It feels as though they will pop out at any second, but in reality, they conform to the contours of your outer ear and they stay there.

They are very light and, as I said, I'm no audiophile, but I think they sound pretty good. And for the price, they sound and feel great.

  1. I picked these up off www.woot.com about a year ago. I only recently tripped and tore the cord, which is a bit thin. They do transfer a bit of noise when the wire is touched

However these seem to be the only obvious flaws these headphones have. The sound quality is amazing for a <40$ pair of headphones (i think they're like 30ish on amazon right now). I never realized this until I went shopping for new ones. I dropped a 150 bucks on the 6i's from etymotic research. While these are great earphones, and I highly recommend them, the sound quality is not much improved from the razer's, Im honestly going to buy another pair just so I can compare them.

  2. I own about four other sets of earbuds for my iPod so I can compare these Razers to my Shure E2C's and Skullcandy Smokin' Buds Ink'd. Soundwise, the Razers are pretty good, not as good as the Shures but very good for the price. Sound isolation is pretty decent also. These are the only buds I own with the asymmetric cords, but they don't bother me too much. The plug cord is shorter than most, however if you are wearing your MP3 player on your belt or arm I don't think you'd have a problem unless you are seven feet tall. Actually I like the shorter cord, when I use my Shures I always have to stuff extra cord in my pocket to keep it out of the way.
The only problem I have with the Razers is they don't fit in my ears too well. The rubber tips are fine, my problem is that the actual body of the earbud is so small I have difficulty seating it fully in my ear. If your ear is shaped differently from mine you might not have this problem. Once I get the buds seated, they are fine and pretty comfortable but pop out easily. In contrast my Shures are easier to get seated and stay in place well, but are not quite as comfortable in my ear canal.
Compared to the really cheap Skullcandy Ink'd buds, the sound is comparable but the Razers have a more quality feel. The Ink'd buds are easier for me to insert and stay put better, but there is a lot more tranmitted noise from their cords when you move. I don't really notice significantly more noise from cord movement in the Razers than my Shures. It is too bad there is no way to 'test fit' earbuds, I am sure the Razers will fit many people just fine. If they do fit you I think you will like them.
Bonus, the included neoprene carry case is very nice and can hold a small MP3 player as well as the buds, plus you get an airline adapter.

  3. This item is great...I have very small ear canals and other earphones hurt the inside of my ears...These are great for that problem and they are also a very good product.

  4. For the price, this is a dandy little product. My purpose was to have comfortable earpieces for a very long flight in which movies were my main form of entertainment. These earphones worked just fine. With multiple earbud sizes to choose from, I was able to use the right ones for my small ears. I wore them for an extended period of time and there was no discomfort at all. I also appreciated having the two different-sized plugs and the nice little carrying case! However, while these phones worked great for movie sound, I noticed they were a little lacking in tonal quality for music. I like to hear all the highs and lows in my music and, well, these phones are just not the same as the big spiffy headphones I use with my sound system at home. Still, a good product.

  5. I got these a year ago as a replacement for a similarly-priced pair of Sony earbuds that broke. They are my favorite earbuds I've used yet (though admittedly I've not tried anything much more expensive). They sound great! A coworker claims the sound is better than a pair of $150 Shures he tried. And they block outside noise so well that I use them to mow the lawn and at work when I have to cut or drill rock. The "bump" noise has not been a major issue for me. Added bonus: they come in black! I have a white pair right now, but will eventually order black ones so they don't turn brown.

But there are a few things preventing me from giving them the coveted 5 stars. First, they slip out of my ears quite easily when I'm sweaty, so I'm often shoving them back in. This makes it near impossible to run in them (I do still use them on the exercise bike during the winter). Annoyingly, the cord is slightly too short sometimes. I'm 6'1, not too tall, but the cord still won't reach to the bottom of some of my jeans' pockets. So the weight of my Nano sometimes pulls the left ear out. If the cord were four inches longer, this problem would not exist. After a year, the rubber around where the cables go into the ear buds themselves is starting to fray and is certainly no longer the original color.

Bottom line: I would recommend these earbuds highly if the problems I described don't apply to you- if you're shorter or can put the music player in a shirt pocket, and if you won't run with them. They reproduce music very accurately for the price, and I plan to buy them again when my current pair gets too grungy.

5 comments about Bang & Olufsen A8 Earphones.
  1. I have been searching for MONTHS to find a pair of headphones that wouldn't fall off my ears during exercise. The few pairs that I have found that did stay put, would just sound awful and make my music sound as if it were playing inside a tin can. Although the price tag on this pair was a bit high for my liking, after adding up the prices of all the other headphones I have tried over the past six months, these are still a bargain by comparison.

They have a really unique adjustment that allows the user to manipulate the fit behind the ears. Although this takes a few seconds longer than adjusting a traditional pair of headphones, the big difference is that once these are in place, they won't budge!

Also, I can't say enough about the quality of the sound in these headphones! Since I am a vocalist, I can be a bit snobby when it comes to sound and these really exceeded my expectations. Finally it is a joy to listen to my music with headphones!

The only caution I have for people considering this purchase is to know who you are buying from. A friend of mine claimed to have purchased this same pair on Ebay and realized later they were fakes and not near the quality of mine. If you aren't paying around $100 for these, then there is a very big chance that they are not really Bang & Olufsen. Although B&O is really proud of their headphones, the quality of the product proves once again that you get what you pay for!!

  2. If you have decided headphones are too large, in-ear phones too intrusive, more than 200$ too much, and hearing the crickets chirping in a open field concert not essential, then this is a good place to start. Or maybe you just want to know more about this earphone with such a weird-fangled name.
    In either case, read on.

The world Bang & Olufsen is quite an elite one. These people take their audio seriously. Their speakers sell for the price of brand new cars. The A8 earphones, by comparison to their other products, is within much closer reach. Not widely distributed, its price is quite varied, but tends to range from 100-160$ (watch out for lower-priced imitations).

The A8 earphones are a sight to behold, being of fine craftsmanship and quality components. It was one of the first earbuds to address proper fitting and placement retention with its multi adjustment points (I got mine October 2004). It can be shifted vertically for ear height, horizontally for depth, and held in place with a flip-down loop adjustable to your preference. Its body frame is constructed of rigid brushed aluminum, with hard glossy rubber lining the ear loops. The ear-loop and the swing arm holding the phones move with a smooth gliding motion that have held up well over the years. The cords leading from the phones are reinforced with a rubber housing to protect from the potential pull and snag. Mine have survived quite a few. Though in no way am I suggesting you can yank on them, they will last if subjected to frequent light stressing. Of particular note in the design, the cord length is shorter than normal at about 3ft. which is perfect for the portable player close at hand. It comes with a low-profile 6ft. extension cord if longer lengths are desired. I also like the straight-line plug (as opposed to the right-angle ones), nice for audio-players housed in a pouch or bag. Due to its unique design, proper protection is provided in a carry case of hard black leather, shaped to conform to the dual semi-circle ear loops. But enough of its design. What of the sound?

I have to be up front about the weak points, because this is the deciding factor for most. The bass response on these phones is underwhelming. Which is not the same as saying weak/tinny bass, the lack of, or distorted bass. In the quest for high quality, the emphasis was on other aspects of sound quality. Something had to be compromised, that being bass response. When bass is exhibited though, it is clear, distinct, and free of distortion. But you will never feel punch or power to the bass. Which was never the intention of the A8's. One other gripe, a minor one, is that for people who wear corrective lenses, the ear loops on the A8's can get in the way of the lens frame, causing some degree of discomfort to the ears.

If you are still with me, then the bass issue didn't scare you off. Its high points are more important to me, which is why I recommend it. The A8 emphasizes sound detail, clarity, and accuracy (lack of distortion). Sound output is tight and controlled in the high ranges, great for orchestral music, for soprano singers. Instruments, vocals, acoustic resonances, twangs, rings, chimes, are clear and true. Distinction can be made of the parts of the whole, yet there is proper balance so that the different sounds can still meld as one. I hear layers of audio I never knew existed because on low quality phones they had been drowned out or distorted by inaccurate sound reproduction. You get to hear more of what was recorded in the original that can get lost in low quality outputs. [This audio clarity is a bit of a double edge. The flaws of low quality audio sources (like low-bit rates) tend to be more pronounced with high quality headsets.] On a lesser note of benefit, the ear loops hold the ear piece securely from slipping out if you need to engage in some kind of major head movement.

If you spend more money, you can certainly get better. If you go with in-ear buds, you can retain clarity and gain some bass.
But if bass isn't the forte, you believe ear buds gotta stay out of the canals, and clarity is important, the Bang & Olufsen A8's fit the bill.

  3. I just bought these headphones yesterday. I must say I'm a little underwhelmed. I guess I'm no "audiophile"; I honestly can't tell much difference between these and the buds that came with my Ipod. It handles the high and low ranges much better (no distortion on bass - yea!), but mostly it's about the same. And those silly foam earpads - good grief, it took me 5-10 minutes just to get those on the earphones! And of course they fall off every time you take the earphones off. Couldn't they have come up with something that didn't require these things?

But that's just my initial impressions. I hope to have a follow up review in a few months and will hopefully raise my rating to a four or five star.

  4. The Museum of Modern Art has recognized Bang & Olufsen for their design aesthetic, which they consistently combine with perfect utility. That is why I have come to expect the very best whenever I buy a B & O product. The A8 Earphones do not disappoint although they are deceptively simple. When I first held them in my hand, I thought that they looked well-made as I would have expected, but nothing extraordinary. I put them over my ears and fussed with the fit until they were comfortable, plugged them in to my iPod, and then . . . smiled.

They are exactly what I was looking for: a great sounding bud-type earphone that remained in place as I worked around the house. As people have joked in other reviews of this product, you really do forget that you are wearing them. You will find this out the first time you put the telephone receiver to your ear and ask the caller to speak up, unaware that you are still wearing the earphones.

  5. First of all, I do not think a proper review should be given until I have put a lot of miles, or hours, on the product. I have owned the A8s for several years now and they are still sounding like they just came out of the box. These things are so durable, it never ceases to amaze me. I have stepped on them twice and nothing was bent, broke, or twisted. Also, the sound is noticeably better than the comparable Etymotic buds, which my step-dad has owned and confirmed. The A8s bass levels could be a little bit better in my opinion, although, I think my MP3 player (Cowon A2 30 GB Portable Multimedia Player) has something to do with this. The only thing that I've not liked about the A8s, are the factory ear pads (big deal). Radio Shack has pads that last a lot longer, and don't wear, or lose their elasticity, as fast. Unfortunately, The RS pads are a bit pricey, at $5.50 a pop, and it comes with four pads but I'm still on my first two.

  1. This is quite a bulky item for the Koss plugs, but is just fine for other stuff, like Shure's push-to-play device.

  2. Purchased this for a pair of Koss Spark Plugs and my iPod Shuffle. Both fit great together in the one case. A bit bulky for the phones alone, but great if you want to pack a couple of small items together.

  1. I love these. They fit great and isolate great.

The retail price is $10 for 3 or 4 pair. Do not buy 1 pair for $10. Someone's opening the retail box and making 75% profit over the retail price.

  2. I am a frequent traveler and I was looking for a more portable alternative to Bose headset for short trips. My expectations were low that the triple flange sleeves would block out enough noise to be useful, but after reading many reviews I decided to try them. What I found is that the triple flange sleeves do an excellent job blocking out the noise and one my most recent trip overseas, I chose to use the Shure E2C ear buds with the triple flange sleeves over the Bose headset and I was pleasantly surprised. The delivery of the product from the vendor was prompt and you will have to work the flange sleeves a bit to fit the E2C ear buds. I strongly recommend trying this product and vendor.

  3. These ear bud covers work very well. They may take a few times of wearing them to get used to the feeling (alittle more pressure then the soft foam)but they stay in. I run on a treadmill and it's hard to find buds that stay in the ear.

  4. I bought these for Westone UM1s and they work great! Thanks to reviewer Pedro for the tip on cutting off the top (smallest) flange. Before I trimmed, they had a terrible seal (airy, no bass) and hurt my ears. After I cut off the small top and trimmed the stem to even with the 3rd (largest) flange, they work perfectly. They are much easier to put in than the comply tips that came with the UM1s. They do not block quick as much exterior sound as the comply foam tips in my opinion, but they take 2 seconds to insert for me vs having to squish the hard foam over and over to put those other ones in. I am hoping they do not get as nasty from ear dirt as the Complys did (I often wore them shortly after showering. Foamies don't work so well when wet!)

Unless you have large ears, follow the directions and cut them. It's a 10x improvement. The sound is terrific.

  5. These are great! An absolute must for anyone who uses in-ear monitors and can't afford $500 or more for custom ear molds. Using these was almost like being in a near-field monitoring (i.e., studio) environment.
