5 comments about Skullcandy SCS-SC Skullcrusher Subwoofer Stereo Headphones (Green).
- I bought these thinking they would be sweet but they really are not that great of quality. The sound quality is that of regular old apple headphones. The "built in subwoofer sucks.
- product is amazing except the bass hum when on high other then that playing games and listening to music with these bad boys kick butt
- so after much debate i finally decided on these. i had a pair of bose tri ports for years that i loved, but the left ear piece started fading out and i couldn't use them any more. the one thing that bugged me about the triports was when i listened straight through my computer, the bass was amazing & pure, but on an ipod it was minimal. the sound was still great but the bass was mostly gone. the skullcrushers are a different story. they have lots of bass & thump through a portable. while overall, the triports were more comfortable and sounded better, these are actually a better option if you listen to bass heavy music mostly on a portable mp3 player. if you listen directly through your stereo or computer, go with a higher end headphone without the added bass feature.
- I think these are the best headphones I've ever had they were everything I thought they would be.
- Brief summary: The Skullcandy crushers are a unique looking pair of studio headphones with the added twist of a build in subwoofer. Construction is cheap, sound quality isn't. Although they list for as high as 70, I wouldn't pay more than 50.
Review: I'm a musician whos primary instrument is Bass Guitar. I owned a pair of Skullcandy SCS-SC's (Green, first model) about three years ago and used them primarily for listening sessions via direct amp connection. I also compose Digital Tracks using studio software on my laptop. I wasn't expecting much in the way of sound quality, but I was curious about the built in subwoofer. Surprisingly, the sound was actually pretty decent. The build in subwoofer was as advertised, delivering a major kick to the lows of my bass guitar and digital dance tracks. The mids and highs weren't lacking either, and all around, I was unexpectedly surprised. As far as the physical design of the Skullcrushers, my inital impression was poor. They look and feel incredibly cheap. The attention to fit and finish is lacking, and the inline subwoofer controller literally looked like it was pieced together with crazy glue. Again, surprisingly, they actually managed to hold up for three years despite the cheap design (although to be honest, I do not use them for portable listening and tend to take good care of my electronics). Recently, my pair was stolen along with some other stuff, which brought me back online to purchase another. My purchase price was $49.42 (in store) in 2005. I just ordered another pair for $50 (including shipping). I expected to find them for much cheaper, but I guess the demand is still strong. I also owned a pair of Skullcandy Ink'd buds, which I would probably recommend for portable listening (strong bass, compact design, gold plated plug etc). I originally paid $29.95 (in 2007) for these buds, but thankfully found a replacement for 10 bucks right here on amazon.
If you're willing to shell out the extra 20-30 dollars, Skullcandy has since released another series of crushers with much better construction and stronger bass amplification. Otherwise, stick with the original SC's for $50 or less. I'm not a gamer, so I can't comment on that, but I'll say they're Great for rock, dance and hip-hop music listeners as well as musicians who need a cheap pair of stereo-phones with strong bass and noise cancellation capability.

2 comments about Koss UR18 Collapsible Home Headphones Silver Finish, and W/3.5mm Jack.
- I own a pair of the UR16 headphones and I was devastated when I was informed that they had been discontinued. This was the only pair of headphones (in my price range) that cupped my entire ear and had great noise canceling sound. After owning these headphones for 10+ years, the wire had shorted out. I was so upset when I couldn't get them fixed or replaced. After buying and returning several other pairs of headphones I came across the Koss UR18 headphones. I was surprised to see how much they resembled my previous pair. I ordered these headphones with the mind set that I will probably not like these either. I was wrong! They are better them my previous pair! The sound quality and comfort were the same but this pair collapsed for easy packing / storage! It was a great find!
- These have a great over the ear feel to them!! I purchased them for about $12 plus $5 shipping and I couldn't be happier. There is quite a good tight amount of bass accompanied by good mids and highs. I am using the headphones with my home receiver(Onkyo tx-sr805) so I don't wake up the family when I watch a movie for play videogames late at night.
The sound is great, the isolation is great(there is not active noise canceling) I've never liked noise canceling with the extra battery you have to replace felt unnecessary and these don't need any help. Not to mention they fold up and are very light weight.
The ONLY small reason I didn't give them a 5 star rating was because after wearing them for about 6 hours my ears felt a little pinched towards the top and the ear pieces gets sweaty where the faux leather is placed on your head. these replace my old senheisser eh150s. these were totally worth every cent!!!
To warn people the chord is 8ft long so I wouldn't use them for portability but you could rubber band the extra cable and put it in your pocket. Try them out for sure, they're a good solid investment. If you need crazy perfect sound these will only be C average for you. I think they're great though :)

- A very well crafted product. Sound almost top notch (according to a 50 year olds declining hearing). In a building constructed with rail road steel bars, reach was more than satisfactory. Almost on par with current WiFi standard. Comfortable, with a very slight sound leake. Allthough your sleeping partner might disagree.
Unfortunately sound appears difficult to tap from units connected via HDMI. None of the ample supplied connections seem to provide access (even if the SCART connection is OK). Information "how to connect to HDMI" is in any case not povided in the very short manual. If anyone figures this out, please let know. Otherwise, as a "bedroom-watch-TV-by-yourself" solution, it is certain buy recommendation!
- SHORT STORY: The price for these is excellent and aside from a few minor annoyances and minimal 5.1 surround, six months later I'm very pleased with my purchase and would recommend these to anyone.
Rating: I gave it 5 stars because I think these have a 5 star "value" rating. There are flaws but what they offer for the price is worth 5 stars in my opinon. If they were any more expensive, I'd lean towards a 4 star rating.
Quality: There's only one pair reviewed better and they are kind of ugly (the Pioneers). They're also much more expensive. I thought hard about them though.
I bought these about six months ago. The confusing part was the dual manufacturer name. It seems like Acoustic Research (AR) is carried in retail stores, but online retailers list this product as an "Audiovox". The cool thing is, online these are half the price of retail stores! I saw these on the Best Buy website for $399!! After ordering these from here, everything came labeled "AR" - funny. It's like they can't list under the AR name but the product is an AR. For a price so much better than retail. If you buy these online they're like $200 less than what a retail store would have them for. Although it's hard to find something of this high of a price in a retail electronics store.
The sound is really excellent. I have a pair of $169 Sennheiser full sized headphones (CANS) and I'd say these are "close". I'm pretty happy about that - for Wireless headphones to get so close to the quality of wired headphones. My guess would be these have the same sound quality as a pair of $75-$125 headphones. Music sounded really excellent to me on these - I liked it. This is the point of view from a guy that has a pair of $300 Klipsch Image (in-ear) headphones. If you didn't think these sounded good I'd be shocked. They aren't top notch by any means but I can't picture anyone thumbing their nose at these.
5.1 Sound: I've watched a lot of movies and played a lot of games using these over the last six months. My option is the "5.1" aspect of these headphones is minimal. It's enough to get you by with a general sense of front-rear/left-right surround. But, it's not distinct. I want to say the surround feels "blurred". It is good enough to get spatial awareness though - which is a mile beyond normal headphones. Overall, I'm not thrilled but not really disappointed either. I sure wouldn't trade the 5.1 for better sound quality though. I really would miss it.
Volume: These headphones have an up and down volume button on the outside of them. Operation is easy and responsive while using them. The volume range is good and these things will go a lot louder than I can stand. Although the base really isn't there. It's like movie quality base - a little weak for game play (to me) and music.
Size: These suckers are small (much smaller than I pictured). Technically these are "over the ear" CANS, but on my ears they almost qualify for "on ear". My wife has a pair of Bose on-ear headphones. These are about 1 size larger. I was very pleased with the size!
Comfort: These are very light and have very soft ear pads. My wife's Bose headphones feel noticeably more comfortable - but not by a lot. The one flaw (for me at least) is that after about an hour my ears get warm. The material is something like vinyl in feel. I much more prefer the fabric-like material on my Sennheiser headphones. It doesn't distract me though. I notice it sometimes but mostly you just get these relief when you take them off and fresh air hits your ears. And, BTW, for new headphones I recommend rubbing them down with Armor All as soon as you get them and every few weeks after. I'm talking about the cord and ear pads. It will greatly extend the life of the headphones by keeping cracks from forming.
Battery: Six months later and they will still last through two full movies. It's actually never run out on me and I've had some five hour gaming sessions. The BAD part is, the battery is not user-replaceable. These headphones are like an iPod in that respect. It's not easy to swallow because for all you know in a couple of years the battery could barely hold a charge. The only thing you could do at that point is probably send them in to AR. Who knows how much that would cost? I think the fee for replacing an iPod battery is like $69. Six months with no noticeable battery life loss (and very heavy use) is promising though! OK the other bad part is there's no docking station. You have to plug a wire from the base into the headphones. In the dark, it's impossible to do.
Range: I have a 1500 sq ft house. I can go anywhere inside without any static or loss. I've never bothered trying to go further.
I own both a 360 and PS3. Since there is only one optical port (and no HDMI), I have to switch back and forth. That is annoying, but I'll bet most people only have one or the other.
360: flawless
PS3: seems to drop the optical "feed" when there is no sound being played (loading screens or scene changes). I get a lot of pops because of this, but it never seems to happen in the middle game play - so it's not a deal breaker.
- So I bought this headset to use while playing Xbox360 or the PS3. It's great!! Sound is great!!
My only problem with them is comfort. The speakers are literally on my ears. They bother me a little.
The next thing is the headband. For some reason they hurt like hell after 30+ minutes of use. I have to constantly move them from the spot it's resting on my head.
Pros: Sound is top notch and the surround works great!
Cons: Comfort.

5 comments about Koss R-80 Home Headphones.
- To emphasize a couple of points made on other reviews. 1) These are fairly comfortable, passively block noise pretty well, and sound quite good. 2) they look and feel like inexpensive headphones, not bad, but no better than the $35 they cost. 3) I thought the detachable cable would have a standard 1/8" connector, but it is actually a phone jack connector on the headphone side, not very robust. 4) The impedance on the Koss website says 60 ohms, but on the actual package it says 112 ohms. 5) The wire from one side to the other is under the band, i.e. against your scalp, so if you are bald like me you have a soft, lightly padded band with a wire bump against the top of your head - its not terrible, just not ideal. Overall, these are acceptable given the price.
- I bought this exact model of headphone from Amazon on July 14, 2005. (At least that's the date Amazon says I bought it on.) They lasted me 3 years before they became unusable from wear-and-tear. And when I say wear-and-tear, I mean a 3-year beating.
I used it between my computer and my stereo system the whole time on a near daily basis of changing between the two. The plug withstood it all. I've yanked the cord (which is about 8-feet long), dropped the headset, tossed the headset while plugged in, crushed the headset under everything from books to a computer (long story on that one), and on more occasions than I can count, fallen asleep and rolled on top of them. They took all the punishment and kept going.
The worst damage that occured was that a piece of the plastic over the Logo oval and below the slider stop on the earpiece (you can see it in the picture) on the inside of the headband broke off after 2 years of me overstretching the headset, and that was easily resolved by replacing the plastic piece that broke off back in place and wrapping the area with some black electrical tape.
The sound quality is exceptional. You can hear the highs and lows of every note in a song and clearly understand every part of a conversation in a game or video. And once they are on your head, outside sounds are gone. Someone could crash their car into your house and you wouldn't hear it.
It finally broke after the wiring in the right earpiece couldn't take my abuse anymore, and even then I was able to get it to work on-and-off for a month after that before it finally said no more.
It survived all that and I only paid $25 for it. All in all this headphone is tank-like in the long run. I'm planning to buy two more. It's a great headset and worth every cent considering how long it lasts.
- I have had these headphones for about 7 years now. I have been very rough with them at times. They have been dropped, stepped on, and otherwise crushed. One side where you adjust the fit cracked years ago and is now held very securely together by about half a roll of electrical tape. The fabric which rests upon the user's head frayed, and I had to MacGyver scrap fabric (from an inferior, broken pair of headphones) over the affected area. The material around the cushion is disintegrating, as is the foam pad between the speakers and the user's ears.
Yet despite all this, I am proud to say that they still sound as good as the day I bought them. These things last forever - It never ceases to amaze me. Well done, Koss. Well done.
- Just got mine a few days ago and I must say that I am very impressed!!! The sound quality is phenomenal, they fit securely( but not too tight around the head), the ear pieces completly cover my ear and while not noise canceling they do block a lot of the outside noise. The sound is amazing!! The bass is nice and deep with no distortion noticed. My only concern is the plastic adjustable frame which the head phones are encased. From what I have read these have a tendency to crack or break. This would be a concern if the headphones were in the higher price range, but since they are under 20.00 if this does happen I can replace them ( or duct tape them) without too much cost. Excellent sound quality for a very reasonable price. Much better sound quality than my sony headphones which I paid twice as much for.
- DJ quality and they fit my big head. Ten stars would be more like it.

- It fits over the ear which I thought was of prime importance. The noise reduction works very well all by itself. It is not large and heavy on the head. It folds conventiently. A small green LED lets you know you're draining the battery. The battery last a long time. The noise reduction makes the music a lot better.
I would give it five stars if it had 'charged' back up versus tossing batteries. ( more earth friendly )
- Just a short Pro/Con review after 3.5 hours of use.
Pros:
Good construction
Great, crisp sound from your music
Works as regular headphones without batteries
Nice travel storage case
Cons:
Creates ear discomfort almost from the get-go. Ears don't quite fit in the foaming and get crammed or pinched.
Very week noise canceling technology used.
Decent NC heaphones. I got these when my Logitech NC headphones right mounting broke - a construction design flaw which Logitech ended up with a whole bunch of returned units and discontinued making NC headphones. That was unfortunate because they were the most comfortable headphones I've ever worn.

5 comments about Shure Replacement Foams for E2c Earphones - Medium 10 Pack (5 pairs).
- What can you really say about these things...make sure you get a good seal in the ears, the correct size is needed for proper fit and comfort. Try a few different sizes and types to see which you prefer, keep extras on hand for other people.
- These things are awful! They don't fit tightly on the shure headphones so then end up sticking in your ear canal when you take off the headphones. It's a mess, and it feels like it would be easy to get them completely jammed in your ear. Horrendous design! It never happened with the original shure foam earphones that came with the E3c's.
- I was surprised when they arrived. I bought these the same time I bought my Shure isolating earphones. Had I waited and tried what came with the Shure earphones I would have stuck with the black soft rubber ones that came with the earphones. However, these fit fine and work pretty well, they are not as comfortable and well fitting as the rubber ones though. There are also some clear stiffer soft plastic ones that come with the earphones that don't fit well at all because they don't flex to conform to the ear shape. I'd use these foam ones before I'd use the clear ones.
- First, I must admit that my ears must not be average. The original Apple buds that came with my Ipod would not stay in my ears. Even just sitting still, they would drop out, no matter how I tried to position them.
So, I read about Apple's in-ear earphones and decided to give them a try. Well, these come with three different sizes of smooth rubber inserts. After trying all three, none of them would stay in. The problem with those is that they formed an airtight seal within my ear and the compressed air would literally blow them out.
I read a review for the Apple in-ear buds, and it said that the solution was to try the Ec2 foams from Shure. SHURE enough, with the ability to pre-compress the foam and have them swell in my ear canals, the buds stay in place no problem. The only negative with them is that due to the curved nature of the Apple phones, they don't seat on the phones as nicely as as the originals. This is purely cosmetic and has nothing to do with function.
- I had read great reviews about these earphones. I also read that a lot of people hated them because of the fit. After owning the Shure earphones for several years, it came to me... Wet the foam first, then put them in. One day at the gym I used my syliva. Perfect, perfect fit.

3 comments about Mini-Plug Headphone Extender - 10 Feet.
- Use these with Sennheiser HD202 headphones on the boat. Good sound, much cheaper than the wireless ones from Circuit City - and don't have the hassle with batteries and extra plugs.
- Excellent price compared to the local big box stores (free Super Saver Shipping was available when I ordered). I did not notice any loss in audio quality when using this extender cord, however, I would prefer that the socket tolerances were closer... the pin plug can become partially dislodged at times.
- The build of this cable is fine and the 1/8 to 1/4 converter being stored on a holder on the cable is a great idea (plus 1 star for that). The reason for the low ranking is that the cable I have has a bad connection at the jack end. Wiggling the cable causes a channel to cut in and out.
I am buying another cable, not this one.
