  1. These are a typical Sennheiser product - good quality, sturdy, and very effective. They're quite a bit more expensive than the typical cheap headphones I've used in the past (Cyber Acoustics, for example), but both the sound in and out are much better quality. I use them for gaming voice communications (Ventrilo), and the people I was speaking to could immediately tell the difference when I switched to these.

I'm using them on an Imac, and there are no compatibility issues at all, completely plug-and-play. The only hitch I've run into is that the in-line volume control changes the volume of the computer, not the headset, but this isn't an issue for me, so I haven't bothered to see if there is a way to change this.

  1. These work great to keep your iPhone earbuds safe, they fit in the case perfectly! The only gripe I had about the product is it's quite pricey for this size of accessory but it is in a class of it's own.

  2. -Shabby construction & disappointing fit. Maybe its a manufacturing issue but all in all does not measure up to the price!! Biggest gripe to me are the looks.
+useful key-ring to store your handsfree for the iphone.

  3. I've had this for about 3 weeks and love it! The case is very durable, keeps my headphones safe and always keeps my earbuds with me! Yes it is a little bulky and perhaps a bit expensive, but that's the price I'm willing to pay to have my headphones with me where ever I go.

    I definitely recommend this product.

  4. i bought this from the manufacturer and had it for almost a year when the zipper teeth started bending and breaking. eventually the zipper head came right off its tracks and i couldn't securely close it anymore.

that said, i still have it on my wishlist for another one because it's so compact.

  1. This product is great! The sound quality is awesome. I ride my motorcycle with the earbuds in and all I can hear is music and a little wind. So be careful when you use them, could be a little dangerous. But, a great product. Would recommend to anyone who is serious about quality!

  2. I both the headphone from a local retailer on my way to the airport (long international flight and realized I'd left my usual headphones at home). They basically live up to manufacture claims -- they do a good job of blocking out external noise, and the sound quality is good but not exceptionally so.

Where I've found the most benefit is in the office. The Shure 210 headphones (think regular headphones with earplugs around them) dampen non-repetitive noise such as voices much better than more expensive noise canceling headphones.

However, I'm not satisfied with the manufacturing quality. The sound volume for the pair I purchased seemed to drop over several weeks. At first, I thought it was just my imagination, but recently the volume dropped to almost a whisper. After some brief testing (alternate audio devices and headphones), it became clear the problem was with the Shure headphones.

So, reasonable sound quality, good sound isolation, but pricey and did not last very long.

  3. I wasn't sure if it was worth spending this much got earphones. I do have to say, these are well worth every cent that I spent. These come with plenty of extras in the price. It comes with a carrying case that is soft but sturdy. The earphones cable is short but they come with a 3 foot extension cable, this adds weight to it though. There is also a pouch of extra earphone caps.

The sound is great, far better than the earphones that came with my MP3 player. It takes a little to get used to but once you pinch the end of the earphones and put them in the correct place, they actually muffle out noise. It sounds like you are wearing headphones that cover over the ears. They also give a nice level of bass to the music too.

One very important thing to note. With my old earhpones, I had to place the volume level 3/4 up to 4/4 to hear them good because of all the background noise. With these, I normally leave the volume level at 1/4 and at times up to 1/2 up. Any higher and the music gets too loud. This will save my hearing in the long run while enjoying the music.

I use these when I excercise, I run. They normally hold in place pretty well if I get them in correct the first place. If they do fall out, it's pretty easy to get them back in. the only hold up is if I begin to sweat. It makes it harder to get them back in. You will notice the different in the music quality once in correct and begin to slip out.

again, I highly recommend these earphones for those who are looking for great sound, great quality, and want to save their hearning.

  4. I read lots of reviews before buying this product. I told myself I would live with it for a while before writing a review. I suspect people who write reviews the first day aren't getting to know the product very well. For instance, somebody said the sound got progressively lower in volume . . . dude, buy some Q-tips. Clean the earwax out of the earphones. . . . Seriously, though, its not a big problem if you keep your ears clean.

Lots of people seem not to know exactly how to wear them. If you've used earplugs, then you've got the idea. Some complain about hearing the cord, hearing yourself chew or breathe, etc. Again, its just like earplugs. Get over it.

Now, to sound quality. I listen to everything from dance, 80's synth pop, metal, classical (7th symphony, 2nd movement absolutely rocks), funk, etc. Everything except rap and country. These are definitely much, much better than the stock earbuds that came with my nano. I've also used higher-end cans, and the SE210s compare favorably. Sound isolation is pretty good, better than ANR. My biggest gripe is that there's too much bass. That's right - too much. I find myself using the EQ to get a brighter sound. The clarity is still there, but you have to tone down the lower freqs to find it.

I suspect that Shure geared the sound characteristics toward lower-end consumers, maybe pandering to those who buy $10 Sony's (and like them), or those who don't want to insert the earbuds far enough. People, if you want thump with earbuds, put a powered sub in your backpack.

I still gave 'em 4 stars, though, because - for the price - they're a great step up from the stock earbuds, and EQ'ing when going from one source to another - or from earbuds to speakers - isn't too much of an inconvenience.

Bottom line - not bad for the money. I don't dislike them enough to send them back. But, after I wear them out 2 years from now, I'll probably go for something brighter.

  5. My family and I bought this for my dad. He loves them. He can mow the lawn no problem with these, and says the sound quality is excellent.

  1. At first I did not like the sound from these earbuds, but then my husband told me to make sure they were in correctly (he did the same thing with his), which they were not! Great sound, especially for the money, very comfortable and would still like a bit more base, but I can change my play selection on my ipod to suit the song or genre.

  2. I broke the headphones that came with my iPhone, and since the sound from them was only average I was more than happy to purchase a new set. After these arriving in the mail I was excited....... until I heard them. The sound is harsh with no midrange, midbass, or bass whatsoever. I could not actually listen to them for more than 15 minutes without getting a headache. They feel like the cheap headsets you get from the wireless stores in the mall. I would give 0 stars if I could. This product will be returned hastily.

  3. The sound on these is definitely well below average -- but come on, what do you expect from a $20 set of headphones? I gave this two stars simply because the earbud on mine fell off -- literally -- after about 2 months. That's just not acceptable.

If you're looking for cheap, quicky headphones... these are fine. But no more than just that -- fine.

5 comments about Skullcandy Full Metal Jacket Earbud, 11mm - Pink.
  1. What is in the box:
1 pair of 11mm Skullcandy Full Metal Jacket Earbuds
    1 extension cord - about 3ft long
3 sets of rubber ear pieces - 1 small, 1 medium, 1 large
2 sets of foam ear pieces - all same size
    1 drawstring carrying bag

I own both the 9mm and the 11mm FMJ earbuds and the 11mm is quite an improvement. These are louder and the bass has more boom to them. You will not be disappointed with the bass on these things. The quality of material also seems to be better when compared to the 9mm. The cord is sturdier and chrome plated rather than just a rubber cord. The cord is about 3 feet long which should be long enough for most people. The extension cord adds about another 3 feet which extends long than my entire body.

I have never used foam ear pieces before, so it took me some time to figure out a way to fit them in my ear properly. Before I was just shoving them into my ear like normal earbuds and it felt a bit uncomfortable. The real key is to squish the ear pieces to make them thinner, then put them into your ear and let them expand back after a few seconds. This allows a much better fit and an easier time inserting them into your ears.

I have only one minor con. The 9mm featured a in-line volume control slider that is missing in the 11mm version. This is only a minor gripe as I don't consider volume control to be a major feature.

You'll never have to worry if they break, because all Skullcandy products comes with a limited lifetime warranty. Overall, the 11mm FMJs exceeds the 9mm in almost every possible way. From sound quality, to accessories, to craftsmanship quality, it is all an improvement. Unless you find the 9mm for cheap, I highly recommend to go straight for the 11mm Full Metal Jackets.

  2. I bought the Skullcandy earbuds (in gray) for my iPhone, to replace the awful ones included with the phone, and am thrilled with the sound, quality and really everything about them. Highly recommend!

  3. I bought these headphones for my girlfriend. She likes to run on her treadmill and also outside around the neighborhood. The headphones she was using before were her junk ipod ones. The problems she had with the ipod ones were: they couldn't stay in her ear whilst running, they had poor sound quality which in my opinion makes running with music stink, and the cord seemed to get tangled up all the time.

This product solved all of those problems and also surpassed out expectations on sound quality. I put them in and was amazed. I'm very happy with my purchase. Yeah, they were pretty expensive, but I figure buy it once keep it for life. These things definitely seem like they are going to hold up for a long, long time too.

p.s. it comes with a cool carrying case and neat stickers! haha.

  4. First thing, let me just say that people who complain about there being too much bass have forgotten what music is SUPPOSED to sound like. These headphones are absolutely incredible. I have been listening to my ipod more than when I first bought it three years ago! I will never go to another brand. I'm sold, completely.

  5. I ordered a pair of these to use at the gym with my iPod and also with a music system we jack into while spinning. They sound great. I treat them very well but I can't believe that people use these while doing extreme sports.

I have gone through two pair in 4 months. The volume control failed in the first pair. Skullcandy replaced them but it took forever. They never reply to your e-mails or website comments which is why I gave them 1 star.

The second pair also started to fail at the volume control. So I used DeoxIt on them and that cleared it up. Don't sweat on the volume control or you will have to clean it with something because it will start to have spots that don't work and sound will drop out. After about 1 month of use the jack failed. I would have to twist the cord to get them to work.

Now this is just from using them at the gym. Not skateboarding or snowboarding or any of the stuff they show the guys on their website doing.

When you do the second RMA, they hassle you with they don't cover accidental damage. They make you send the entire pair in this time. Then you wait 4 weeks and hassle them with e-mails and on their website and they never respond but they finally ship you a new pair. So 6 weeks after I sent them in I get a new pair.

I'm sure these will break just as soon as the last pair. But for what they cost I will keep sending them and hassling them. These don't even last as long as a cheap $10 pair. I could buy 6 pairs of those for what these cost.

5 comments about Surround Sound Headphone Adaptor.
  1. This device produces dolby analog sound when connecting it to your portable device but does not produce digital 5.1 sound unless you connect it to a dvd player with dolby/dts inputs using fiber optic cable with a 3.5mm jack adapter which I finally found packaged with a fiber optic cable at Wal-Mart. Since then I have been enjoying watching my DVDs in 5.1 sound all channels going through in my headphones to produce less noise at work and when I have a condo/apartment.

Great item but do recommend rechargeable batteries if you watch more than 2 films a day which I do!

  2. The JVC SU-DH1 is a very simple, elegant product: it provides full 5.1-channel surround sound through a set of standard headphones. And it works very well: the surround experience is just as enjoyable through headphones, without disturbing others. Thanks to this product, I can now enjoy movies late at night -- at full volume levels -- without having to worry about disturbing my neighbors.

The only downside to this product is that it consumes batteries very quickly. I HIGHLY recommend purchasing a set of NiMH rechargeable batteries, preferably with a "quick" (15-minute) charger. I bought a Duracell 15-minute charger and a set of four NiMH batteries, and they work very well in this JVC.

  3. A great unit but I have to correct several comments about the lack of a transfomer input. It does have an input for a transformer and JVC makes such a unit. You may find an alternate however.

  4. Highly recommended if you need to game with headphones a lot.

I'm using it with an Xbox 360 (connected via optical SPDIF cable), on the DH1 setting, with Sennheiser Ovation HD650 headphones.

Optical digital connection is very important. If you connect it via the analog connection, you're not going to get anything like the same experience.

    PROS

    - Great price, much cheaper than getting a DH enabled receiver.

    - Great for gaming (and probably also other 5.1 sources like movies). It really is night and day compared to using headphones without this device, especially for FPS games like Halo 3 and Bioshock where directionality of sound really does matter. Creates a very smooth "out of your head" soundfield, can be a life saver in Halo online. Very easy on the ears. Initially I found myself taking the headphones off to check my surround speaker system wasn't accidentally turned on!

    CONS

    - 2 channel music - just ok. Certainly takes the music "out of your head", but quality/detail does suffer IMO, particularly the higher frequencies (some 'ringing'?). May not be as noticable with less revealing headphones?

    - Battery operated (does NOT accept a power supply, contrary to one other review here). Eats batteries (approx couple of hours with 2 AA alkalines?). Would be nice if it had a DC in socket for non-mobile use. Not the end of the world though - NiMh rechargables are pretty cheap these days...

  5. If you don't HAVE to have a wireless Dolby headphone then this is a very good alternative. I had some nice headphones to begin with and the Sony headphones I already had Sony MDR-DS3000 Infrared Wireless Digital Surround Headphones were good for the job but had some drawbacks, especially sound quality.

I have the Beyerdynamic DT 880 headphones and they sound great with this surround sound adapter. You are not going to get sound in front and behind you etc. like true Dolby but it does sound very spacial. Don't use it for just listening to music though...

Get some good rechargeable batteries and they last for 4+ movies before they are completely drained. I use the analog connection because the digital connection was not loud enough (very high impedance headphones, doh!). There is no difference in sound quality unless you are like one of those audiophiles who think for example the sound changes with new headphones with "burn-in"(!?) Just enjoy the sound/music. It sounds great with either connection.

If you are thinking of using this for a laptop get a software alternative for much less...no need to have this thing hanging around you.

So this is a great (low cost) solution for surround spacial sound without disturbing those around you. Sometimes I just double check to make sure the speakers are not still on!

5 comments about Motorola Wireless Active Headphone Kit for Apple iPod and Cell Phones (MOTOROKR S9 Bluetooth Active Headphones + Motorola D650 Bluetooth Adapter for iPod + Motorola Premium Armband).
  1. I had a lot of hope for this kit. I had planned to use it to use it to listen to my iPod while working out, mowing the lawn, etc...and listen to my computer at work, and answer my phone while doing so.

Well...here's the thing. The iPod adapter loses power/disconnects/needs to pair with the headset with the slightest jiggle. That makes it useless for anything remotely active. I was testing it our while preparing dinner and it lost connection every time I bent over to pick something up. I even tried it in the ridiculous armband that came with the kit, and even the slightest jostle made it disconnect...which made the picture of the runner on the packaging pretty laughable.

The sound quality on the headset is great though, so I figured that if the calls I could place with my cell phone sounded ok, then I would keep them and use them as wireless headphones for my computer/cell phone.

Unfortunately, the microphone sounds like hell, so they are going back.

I am awarding the product two stars because it met two of my needs, fit and sound quality. If all you need is a set of bluetooth headphones to work with another adapter or PC, the S9 is a good headset...which you can buy separately.

  2. Ditto the other review.. I loved it for the first few days working out, then it started getting complicated. Turning it on while streamed w/ my cell phone seemed impossible even after re-reading the instructions; so I just shut off my cell phone bluetooth connection to get my ipod to play. Then I noticed every time I wanted to turn it on it would have to be plugged in first even though I had just recharged it the day before (standby is supposed to be 150hrs). The lights which indicate the status didn't match what the instructions specified- a constant red light sometimes, no light at all others. During my last jog on a slightly windy day in NYC the connection was constantly interrupted. I tried the play button over and over every time it paused itself looking to connect, and now, the headset doesn't even turn on despite plugging it in again. There isn't a reset button and I don't know what else to do except send it back.

  3. I ordered: 1 of Motorola Wireless Active Headphone Kit for iPod and Cell Phones(MOTOROKR S9 Bluetooth Active Headphones + Motorola D650 Bluetooth Adapter for iPod +

I received only the Headphone and nothing else. Where is the Motorola D650 Bluetooth Adapter???

  4. I had the same problems with the IPOD adapter. It was very choppy when trying to jog outdoors. I had trouble just trying to get it to connect with my ipod. It's very impractical to use for jogging or other activities outdoors as the connection to the IPOD adapter is flimsy. I finally tried jogging with the headset paired with my LG chocolate phone and it works fine. I would give the headset at least 4 stars alone but the IPOD adapter is what brought it down.

  5. Just like all the other reviewers, had a lot of expectation from these headphones. All went well and I really liked it till... I went to the gym. The headphones circuitry was shortcircuiting with sweat. The buttons are very timid and would short constantly increasing or decreasing the volume or skip to the next song. The first time I was able to shut it off let it dry and revive it. However, the second time this happened, it died. I talked to motorola about the problem, but they could not tell me anything more than that the product was supposed to be sweatproof( which is why anyone would buy an" active" headphones. They could not tell me that the problem has been rectified in the newer designs. Anyway have sent it out to them and am expecting a replacement. Fingers crossed...

  1. I have had these babies for over a year and they look great. The paint/color on the headpieces does peel off after some wear but they're still pretty fab headphones.

  2. I'd been dying to get this headphones after all the reviews I read about it. And I finally did. The sound is really awesome, i can adjust the bass from EQ so that's not a big deal...however, the comfort level is definitely a factor.

I'm a petite women (coxswain) and my head is pretty small...and after wearing this headphones for an hour it my ears and side of my head starts to hurt which leads to headache. I can't wear this headphones for more then an hour at a time which sucks cause I work in my cubical 8+ hours a day.

The pink does grab a lot of attention and the sound is pretty good however, you can't turn up the volume too much or your neighbor will be able to hear all the lyrics.

If you want a headphones for short time listening with coolness written all over it then this is the headphones for you. But if you're looking for comfort level..you might have to seek else where for it.

  3. I bought these headphones after reading some other reviews and overall i'm satisfied with my purchase. I thought it was funny that the same headphones in black were $25.00 to $30.00 dollars more than the white counterpart, more $$$ in my pocket I guess. Anyway the only problem I had with these were the 2 part cord for the headphones. It has a single wire coming from one side of the ear muff about 18 inches long or so and then splits off with another cord. I hate this design because anytime in the past when I've bought headphones with a dual connection like this it ultimately is where the product will fail first. Time will tell if this pair will fail like the others.

  4. I had these for about 2 months now. They get kind of sweaty if you wear them in the gym... LUCKILY they come with extra ear pads that are white leather instead of fuzzy pink. You cannot change the headband though.

I was really happy to find them here for less than what Skullcandy.com was offering.

The bass in tihs isn't that loud and even though the speakers can play music really loud they are not sound blocking. Occasionally i can get some breakthrough sounds or background music. Usually not.

And When I have them up loud I always feel like the people around me can hear my music too... so that makes me kind of self conscious.

All in all these are super cute and they work far better than I did expect. Do expect TONS of attention rocking these bad boys.... great conversation starter for sure!

  5. Wow, Skullcandy, what a cool brand name. I own a pair of Smokin' Buds and I have to say that I didn't even know earbuds had the possibility of sounding so good. The bass in those things are unbelievable! So, no need to say how high my expectations were for their $80 headphones. The Ti set is very comfortable and has an inline volume control, an extention for your cord, and a home stereo adapter (all gold plated for less signal loss). I could wear 'em all day long and not suffer from 'headphone head'. At this point, I couldn't wait to pump some tunes through them. I have to be honest here, I was extremely dissapointed. The mids, highs, and clarity are great. That's where it ends. I'm still wondering if mine are broken, cuz the bass is practically non-existant. The overall sound is a bit flat and tingy also. I have a pair of Koss that I paid $20 for at Walmart, and their bass annihilates the Ti's low range. In fact, they have a more, full and robust sound quality all the way around. The only thing the Ti set has over the Koss is the clarity and separation of details. I've heard the Skullcandy Hesh have a richer bass than the Ti, but I haven't heard them. So, I'm not sure what happened with the Ti set or why they would be $80. Just a fair warning, but listen for yourself and come to your own conclusion as everyone has their own opinion. This was mine. Happy shopping!
