5 comments about Bose QuietComfort 2 Acoustic Noise Cancelling Headphones.
- I was very reluctant to shell out $300 bucks for these but I usually believe that you get what you pay for. I compaired the QC2 to the Sony MDR-NC50 and right away I knew that the Bose was the set for me. The main factor wansn't the sound, it was the comfort. The Bose has a deep ear well so your ear dosen't touch the inner well. The Sony's have a more shallow ear well which touches your ear while the set is in place. Very annoying and VERY UNCOMFORTABLE! The sound from the QC2's is escellent. I also compaired the QC3's (at the Bose store) and could also tell immediately that the QC3's would irritate my ears as they are designed to sit on the ear. The bottom line is if you can afford the Bose you probably won't be disappointed. I think they are awesome!..... little pricey but awesome.
- The sound quality is pretty good and battery life OK but the quality of the plastic used is REALLY poor, the structure complex and fragile. The head-band brakets will brake where it encloses the size adjustment "sliders". When that happens the headphone comes loose and the headset is unusable. The peace of plastic could be sold for a few dollars for a quick fix but in fact you have to get through the repair cycle nightmare and it costs a lot ... not a good deal, I am now looking for something different I can use while sleeping on the plane!
- I've owned a pair of QC2's for about a year now, and after about 6 months they started making an annoying squeaking noise if I wore them while walking. Then this morning, I went to put them on my head, and the headband cracked, making them pretty much useless.
I've had $50 headphones built much more solidly than these.
- I have owned a Bose QC2 for a couple of years and I can assure you that your money is well spent if you are a frequent long haul flyer. As a business traveller who takes more than 100 flights a year, I have tried various types of phones (noise cancel/regular type of various designs - over the ear, in-ear, behind the ear, etc. from Sony, JVC, Panasonic, Grado) and this one comes out winner hands down. If you are an audiophile and do not have requirements for noise cancellation, go for a Grado. But don't leave home without a Bose QC2 if you are a road warrior.
P.S. 1) I find QC2 more comfortable than QC3 on long flights.
2) Most airlines now offer decent noise cancellation phones on business and first class, but they come with proprietary connectors...so, if you want to listen to your own stuff, stick with the QC2.
- I have tried both the QC2 and QC3 on American Airlines flights (they lend them to you in business or first class on overseas flights) and the QC2 is more comfortable for sure. Also, the QC3 has a weird tendency to make a screeching noise if you put pressure on it at the wrong angle, as can happen when you are situating yourself on oh-so-comfortable airline seats. This has happened to me on multiple flights, so it is a design issue and not from a defective pair of headphones. Although the QC2s are larger, when either pair is in its carrying case, they take up the same amount of space. Lastly, the ability to swap out AAA batteries instead of having to recharge a battery with only 12 hours of life (not enough for many itineraries) also makes the QC2 a winner. Where in-the-ear headphones may block out more sound, you can't beat the comfort of the QC2 vs. having something stuck in your ear for hours on end.

5 comments about Logitech 980397-0403 Wireless Headphones for iPod, Gray.
- I had to return the first set, as it just did not communicate with the sending unit. As most complaints, (the second set)the band cracked after about 3 uses. Eventually fixed that (It now looks like a piece of junk) Battery lasts about 3 hours at the most. Sound quality is not too bad though. A waste of money.
- DON'T Buy This Headphones, they will broke in the 1st month.
their range is too small not more than 5 meters. i can live with the 5 meters range but they didn't last for 1 month.
- This review is just more of the same. I loved the product, used it gently but the band still broke. Just not worth the price with the cheap construction and lack of support from Logitech. Had a great idea, but didn't deliver is quality.
- Good things I have to say about this product:
Had a long battery life, and nice range. I could clearly listen to my music a good 25- 30 feet away. and somewhat comfortable fit on the ears.
Bad things:
I was disappointed to find that this product broke within a week of me owning it. It did not have the ability to contour to my head, resulting in it eventually breaking in half. And, After trying to tape together it would eventually not receive a signal.
So conclusion: great reliable sound. But only buy if you have a perfectly shaped small head.
- This is a defective product.
After two years of occasional use, these headphones split in the middle of the band that joins the two ear speakers. I just got off the phone with Logitech, and the best they will offer me is half off purchasing a new set since mine are now out of warranty. The warranty itself is two years, and I purchased them just over that.
Personally, I think that defective products like this one, which consistently fail due to the same material defect, should be replaced or repaired regardless of age. Sadly, Logitech does not see things this way, so I will think long and hard before purchasing another of their products.

- Ok I bought these becuase my wife has a pair of Skullcandy Hesh. So I thought these would be kick A"" to there ok. The biggest problem I have with these is they fall off my head all the time so these things are chillin head phones. I got this pair cheap so if you can get them cheap get them because they do sound good not much bass though. Word of advice spend the extra money and get the Skullcandy Hesh they kick and sound better and they dont fall off your head. Oh also leave the skullcrushers alone to not real bass just good vibrations. Thanks
- They look just like they are pictured, they are comfy on the ears and my son loves them.
- Very quick, good transaction. They are exactly as advertised and are now my favourite headphones. :) I've never owned headphones so comfortable before. Didn't need to take them off during the 8-hour drive from home to college.
- I have had these a week now and am EXTREMELY pleased ! And no, I'm not a "younger person", lol. Mid 40's and lUv my muZic. I have bought a handful of different earbuds and small headphones for my mp3 players and haven't really liked any of them. Earbuds kill your ears after an hour or so and never really fit both my ears, as they are different IDs. Plus I like to be able to hear what is happening around me.
Use these outside and inside, while in my workshop, sitting at the lake, on the deck, rolling around in the yard and while surfing. I'd use them while riding my handcycle but I don't want to sweat all over them.
They are VERY comfortable, very lightweight, excellent sound quality, ya don't have to set the volume high to hear all the instruments/frequencies either. I listen to all types of music and they ALL sound great on these. Wiring is flexible AND high quality. They are WELL BUILT, fold up and stow in minimal space. Oh yeah, they look cool as well, ya don't have to be a teenager to appreciate THAT... most of us, anyway.
John
- I think everyone else has the headphone specs covered, so I just wanted to comment on the MacRed color, which currently sells for a spectacular $20.93 here. It's a muted warm plum color with a metallic sheen, which is far better than the fire engine red I thought I was going to get. I would get this color even if it weren't the cheapest one available.
To add a bit to the specs, the sound quality is rich, clear, and very satisfying. The headphones also fit somewhat loosely and awkwardly on my head when I wear my glasses, so I wouldn't strongly recommend this if you usually wear thick framed glasses. The whole thing is made of light plastic, but I expected that from small headphones like these. Overall, I'm really pleased with these headphones.

5 comments about Grado Prestige SR 225 - Headphones ( ear-cup ).
- These headphones are absolutely excellent, especially when driven by normal portable gear. Like everything, they benefit from better equipment, but one of their greatest virtues is their ability to shine right out of an iPod. These are a great choice for someone who just wants a plug n' play upgrade.
The cause for my strange title is the inaccuracy of the picture above. The winsome brunette seemingly enjoying some afternoon music and try toast is not actually wearing these headphones. Those gorgeous gold headphones are actually the $300 Grado SR 325i. The Sr-225's look almost indistinguishable from the rest of the plastic SR series. Black vinyl headband, black plastic cups, only identifying qualities are the stitching on the headband and the numbers on the little cups. Caveat Emptor, and all that.
- I have purchased quite a few pairs of headphones over the years, primarily to use with my 80GB iPod. My main pair recently has been a set of Shure e4c's, which I thought were pretty darn good. When i first put the SR-225s on, I was impressed with the rich sound, but I can't say I was bowled over. That didn't happen until I put the Shures back on. I immediately noticed how they were more narrow and tinny in comparison to the SR-225s. When I put the Grado's back on, the difference was astonishing. The soundstage opened up, and I could hear things I've never heard before, even with the e4cs. The detail with the Grados is incredible. I've heard these are even better with a headphone amp, and can't even imagine how they could be better. Obviously, I'm not an audiophile but for me, this is as high end as I can imagine. For $200 they are a far superior choice to the Bose Triports (which I bought about a month before these) which sound horrible in comparison. Yes sound does leak in and out but its not nearly as bad as some would lead you to believe. Very highly recommended. If you don't want to spend $200, check out the SR-80s or even the SR-60s.
- First let's dispel the notion that the style of these cans somehow makes the user look like a clod when wearing them. They ars retro in styling, but they're not oulandish. You'll look a lot more like an idiot wearing the sennheiser wireless series than wearing these.(this is for the folks that REALLY care what they look like when wearing headphones)
As to sound these are the best that can be had for $200.00, the sound reproduction is fantastic even at low volume. These are for audiophiles and people of discernment that really like listening to music.
Check out reviews on the web for these and know that the raves these cans are getting are really deserved.
If Grado decided to mass-market their headphone line, i think that they would become a household name in a relatively short period of time
As to comfort these hold up about as good as the competition, some people may find them slightly better, others slightly worse.
These are the real thing if your looking for great music and home theater sound reproduction in your headphones. I rate them a best buy.
- These earphones were a gift for my son who thinks they are fabulous! We are very happy with them and the service, however, it would be nice if they were available in Canada (we had to ship them within the U.S. to receive them).
- After years of owning Sennheiser, AKG, Ultrasone, Ultimate Ears, Etymotic and Beyerdynamic, I finally tried the Grado SR-225. Needless to say, I am not disappointed. For the money the SR-225 offer a very dynamic, energetic, detailed and just plain fun listen. They sound very engaging and lively even powered by modest source gear, like my JVC FS-5000 Ultra Compact Component System. Vocals are so "there" and the music just bristles and bubbles up all around you.
All-in-all, for the money and with "regular" source gear, these are a no downside set of cans! I'm already looking into a pair of the 325i. : )

2 comments about Etymotic Research HF5 Portable In-Ear Earphones (Blue).
- I have a number of different earphones/headphones, including Etymotic ER-4P, Jays Q-Jays, Ultimate Ears 5 Pro and 4vi. The ER-4Ps sound the best to me (but lack in the design category -- they stick out too far when inserted in your ear and the cable feels somewhat flimsy). The ER-4Ps have a level of clarity and detail (and treble) that the others do not match.
I bought these headphones thinking that I would now have the best of both worlds: the sound of the ER-4Ps with a better design. I was wrong. The design of the Hf5 headphone itself is better than the ER-4P, but the sound of the Hf5 does not match the ER-4P. To my ears, the ER-4P and Hf5 are very similar at the low end (neither is particularly strong in bass). However, at the mid-range and especially the high end, the ER-4Ps have more detail and clarity between different instruments and vocals. The Hf5 tends to sound more muddy IN COMPARISON to the ER-4Ps and the high end of the Hf5 has more roll off than the ER-4Ps (i.e., the highs on the Hf5 won't go as high as they do on the ER-4P). Vocals and mid-range on the ER-4P sound so much better than the Hf5 that I wonder whether I had a bad set of Hf5s.
Looking at Amazon's prices, the ER-4Ps are only $20 more than the Hf5. If you are spending that much money on headphones, the ER-4Ps are a better deal.
This is not to say that the Hf5s are a bad set of headphones. To the contrary, I found them to compare very favorably to the Q-Jays. The Q-Jays had better low end (bass) than the Hf5, but the Hf5 was better than the Q-Jays on the high end and the Hf5 seemed to have a better soundstage (more clarity and detail). The Q-Jays are smaller and fit better than the Hf5; HF5 are slightly better than the Q-Jays at blocking external noises.
The Ultimate Ears 4vi are a good set of headphones. With respect to sound, I would give a slight edge to the UE 4vi over the Hf5 (the UE 4vis have better low end and maybe slightly better soundstage than the Hf5...though not by much). The Hf5 fit better than the UE4vi and block more external noise.
The UE Super 5 Pros are muddy and pale in comparison to any of the other headphones.
So, the Hf5s are a good set of headphones...but they do not match the great sound quality of the ER-4Ps.
- I can unequivocally recommend these earphones. I have used a broad variety of earphones, including the Shure se530's Ultimate Ears triple-fi 10's and several Sennheisers. For this price, I've never heard sound so balanced, and with such clarity, coming out of an iPod. I feel like I'm in a sealed sound chamber when I listen with these, even when I'm on the bus. It's almost too isolating - sometimes I really lose touch with what's going on around me. I am a musician, and when I've done studio recordings, we listen for nuances in the instrumentation and music that you typically do not hear when playing back an MP3 file or CD. With the Etymotic hf5's, I'm getting the kind of clarity I get in the studio. And for just $150! There's no over-exaggerated bass, and I can hear every instrument and every voice. There's nothing like listening to an a capella group like Take 6 with the hf5. Or to an unplugged session where all kinds of things can happen in the tracks - if you can hear them. Oh, and the blue and red ones are cool-looking. Pretty much everyone replaces the earphones that come with your MP3 player, and you can spend a lot more on earphones than this, but I recommend $150 spent on these earphones as the biggest bang for your buck.

5 comments about Koss Headphone Carrying Case for KSC75, KSC9, KSC7, KSC17, P14, and P16.
- According to the product description, this case (well made & solid) is far too large to be useful for storing my new KSC75 earphones. I could probably fit 3 pairs of the earphones in the case. I was hoping for something I could tuck into a carry bag. I have written to Koss asking if another of the cases would be more suitable, but they haven't responded.
- I had been looking for a way to take my PortaproKoss PortaPro Headphones with Caseheadphones with me and not completely destroy them (like the last pair) and this case fits the bill. It's light but firm enough to protect your headphones from bumps and pressure.
The case showed up before the headphones so I was using it for a bit with Koss 159823 SportClip ultra light stereoph my koss earclip headphones (which were good and all but the sound paled in comparison to the Portapro, the speakers are held more snugly to your ear with the Portapro and that greatly improves the sound) and there was room to put both the headphones and my ipod (60 gig color) which is a bit on the large side. There is a flap of fabric inside ( i assume it is there to put earbuds in or possibly to tuck the cord) that I used to seperate the two.
If you have tiny earbuds or small clip style headphones and want to kep your player in there too or have the Portapro headphones this would be awesome.
- This is a strong case that fits both my Sandisk Sansa E-260 and Koss KSC-75 headphones. However, my perceived value for this case is at a maximum of ~$3.00. $10 is quite expensive.
- I'll agree with the reviewer who said this case was sturdy but way too big for the headphones it claims to match. I have Koss KSC9 Sportclips, which are mentioned in this case's list of supported Koss headphones. However, taking into account the reviews saying this case ("Case C") was too big, I also bought "Case D", the next size down. Case D fits my headphones almost perfectly -- a little on the snug side, but providing for a much more portable way to store my 'phones.
- The Koss carrying case is a very handy way to store and protect your Koss earphones...
