5 comments about Premium-Class Foldable Headphones with Volume Control.
- I originally bought a pair of these in Frankfurt a few years ago and put them through a lot of punishment. I go through a lot of headsets as I stuff them into drawers or at the bottom of over filled luggage and they put up with some serious beating. I accredit this to their folding design to which no other brand has matched (and I've done my homework!!!). So they are very durable. The Audio quality as other people have also stated is beefy, clear, punchy and quite simply the best I've ever heard! I put this down to their unique padding and closed ear design where there is no room for air circulation to allow noise. They do sweat up after very long periods of wearing which although it sounds bad is probably good as you should take ear breaks from headphones. It's almost like an issue that doubles up to be a plus! Headband is very sturdy and flexible, I particularly like it but on occasion the band pulls a hair from my head which is never nice. That my friends is all the bads! They are cost effective, superb value for money and very very well made. I got a second pair recently as I stood on the last pair and even though I put the pressure of my whole body on them it was a small crack that did it. They are made superbly!!!!
- I'm a college student, and I listen to music more often than most people do, so I thought it would be a good idea to ease up on my eardrums and invest in a decent pair of headphones.
After doing some research, I ordered the AKGs, and was pleasantly surprised to find that they sound like my friend's Bose headphones for the fraction of the price. I'm not much of an audiophile, but I think they sound great.
The majority of time that I spend listening to music is when I'm walking to class, or on road trips with my team, so the size is perfect - not bulky, but not flimsy, either. The design seems to be fairly sturdy, and they fit comfortably on my ears. I really appreciate the folding design; I feel like they're less prone to being damaged when folded up. The in-line volume control is great, too.
Great headphones for a great price!
- I searched and search for a good set of headphones. I am done with the earbuds that just end up making your ear hurt, didn't want something as large as an over the ear head phone and didn't want it with any silly symbols or crazy colors, (I am over 40) I wanted to use these for daily walks with my dog, but at the time i bought them i was preparing for a trip and knew i would need them on the plane. THey are not noise canceling, but i think they did ok at blocking out some of the airplane noise. I looked at sennheiser, bose, etc. All the "top" brands but settled on this one. And glad i did.
First, i think they are very comfortable, they sit on the ear, they do a good job of blocking out external noise and a fairly good job of not letting your music sound out too much for others to hear.(depending on your volume level)
I think the sound you get is very true, good bass, clear sound. I heard things and sounds and words in songs i have listened to forever, that i had never heard before. I think that pretty incredible, especially for 45.00.
I love the fact that they fold up and you can drop them in your backpack, breifcase, purse or pocket. THey even come with their own soft little leather pouch.
When i walk my dog, i put these on with my Sansa, crank it up and i can't hear a thing! Not even myself breathing or walking. SOunds GREAT!!!
IF you want to get a great set of headphones without spending a ton of $$$ these are it. I would buy them again if i ever needed another pair.
- I just got these headphones and I love them! Great price for good quality. The look of it is really nice and the fact that it can fold up and fit very smugly in your pocket wins a lot of points.
The only bad thing about this is that it isn't very comfortable after a while, ESPECIALLY if you wear glasses. Having big ears doesn't help, either. But if you're glasses-less as well as big ears-less, then you should really go for these headphones!
- I bought these headphones after comparing pairs for a month, and when they arrived, I felt INCREDIBLY satisfied with my purchase.
The sound quality is undeniably great, though indeed the mids can become a bit compressed. The headphones are light and fit comfortably - I managed to wear these for 3 hours on end without soreness. All in all, the headphones were more than worth the $50. But what has turned me off from the k27i is its poor construction.
After less than a month of use, the right cup of the headphones detached. Just cleanly and completely came off. There was no evidence of material fatigue or breakage, and, yes, after a couple of attempts to reattach the cup I succeeded. I also contacted AKG in an attempt to exercise the warranty, since my pair was definitely flawed.
I know what you're thinking - shouldn't be anything to worry about, considering the 2-year manufacturing warranty. Well, I sent an email to AKG's U.S. branch of warranty service and they gave me this reply: "Unfortunately this is a non-warranty issue... if you'd like to send them in for a replacement we would be more then happy to replace them at a charge of $43.00 plus shipping."
Naturally, my reaction was shock. The cup of the headphones detached without any help and clearly the pair were in some way internally defective, yet I am unable to obtain service. No, according to AKG, I must purchase another pair.
The headphones lived up to my expectations but the company did not. I'm very disappointed in AKG's policy and feel cheated. For the short amount of time (keep in mind, this was a mere 3 weeks of daily use) I was able to enjoy my headphones, I rate them a 5. But considering the shoddy workmanship of the product and AKG's failure to stand by its warranty, I give the k27i a 2.

- I bought a refurbished set that I've had for six weeks (I think they're the later version). They're exponentially better than the iPod earbuds. They provide more solid bass and clearer highs and mids. I've had trouble with in-ear headphones fitting before, but these stay pretty snug. The rubber molds flex easily and the three different sizes gave me plenty of options. I could see them possibly jostling loose if you were to run with them, but I haven't tried that yet. Having the two different color molds helps to distinguish right and left, if you have trouble reading the tiny letters.
Though my review is on the set I got from Amazon, my wife also bought a new pair at the Apple Store and her left earbud blew out after a couple of months. We returned them and she was given a full new set in the box (we'd only returned just the headphones). The online return process was easy and we got a newer version than what she had before. A very pleasant process.
I'm giving five stars for aesthetics, price, performance and the returns process (for my wife's pair).
- Got 15 days past end of product warranty and then in the jack gave out. Had generally liked them till I hit this snag. They've had a pretty easy life until now. Given the cost, I had hoped they would be more robust.
- I've been using these earhphones for over a year now and I really love them. I have had no problems with them, a testament to the quality materials and workmanship.
- These headphones are great sounding. I bought them as my first pair of headphones over $40, because i needed something that was strong enough to block out the subway train rattling on my commute to school. I loved them when i first began listening, the bass was warm, the vocals were crisp and clear. But then a week later one earphone gradually faded, and stopped working. I returned them to the store for a second pair, which did the same thing after a week of use. As did the third.
I am now on my 4th pair, and i dreadfully wish i could just get my 100 bucks back. I'm stuck with these stupid things and it's been over 30 days, so now i must mail them into v-moda to get them replaced. What a pain!
If you are interested in these headphones, i would only recommend them if you are not going to be walking, jogging, or running with them. They are not durable enough to wear while active. not at all.
- This headset has proven to be an exceptional purchase. I was hesitant based on some other reviews and problems those had but I proceed with caution. I followed the burn in procedure as recommended and the quality in sound is exceptional. There have been no issues with physical failures or excess wear. This headset is used on a daily basis and gets a great deal of wear and tear and it's held wonderfully up to the challenge.

5 comments about Ultimate Ears Metro.fi 2 Earphones Black with Silver Trim.
- This product seemed like a great buy at first. The quality of the sound was amazing and the different options for the ear piece sizes was great. However, I have had these for about three months now and one of the ear pieces suddenly cut out. These are over 60 bucks so you can be assured that I took quality care of them, putting them away neatly after every use, but the one ear phone just cut out. This is a TERRIBLE product and TERRIBLE quality.
- You must push the ear pieces all the way into your ear in order to get the full sound, otherwise it will be tinny and shrill. I paid less than $50 for these earphones, and right now they are almost the same price as the super.fi 3, so you might as well get those instead. Considering the low cost of the metro, you can't expect an audiophile experience. You will get quality that is more than sufficient for most people and that will surely be an upgrade from the basic earphones that are included with your music player.
- I put a lot of time into researching new earphones for on-the-go usage; I could not have spent my money better. The Ultimate Ears metro.fi 2 earphones have a single driver (you won't get more than one unless you spend well over $100) yet they boast a smooth range. The lows are bolstered by strong but not overpowering bass, which is controlled and accurate. The great bass adds an extra dimension to songs, especially if you have been using headphones with weak bass.
The mid-range is good although slightly recessed. It is smooth and has good separation though. Every sound I have heard through these earphones has come out with unmistakable clarity. Noise isolation is decent for these type of earphones (these are not canalphones); they reduce ambient sound by about 16db.
The Ultimate Ears metro.fi 2 earphones are an excellent all-around product for running, sports, or general listening. They come with a nice leather carry case and several different ear tips - they fit any ear.
Highly recommended.
- I am a musician and I am very picky about my audio equipment. I have tried all of the better buds out there from Shure, Bose, V-moda, Sennheiser, Sony, etc...... I was just about to give up on my search for the perfect bud and I came across these. Let them bake(24 hours of play time)and these buds sound awesome. Great high, solid mid and good Bass. Comfortable fit, sturdy wiring. For the price, you just can't beat these.
- Got these as a replacement for the Sony Fontopias (when the left earbud broke on my third pair of Fontopias in a year, I've decided to move up to bigger and better). Was initially pleased with the sound isolation and the audio quality. Then the problems started to pile on: the earbuds won't stay on unless you are sitting perfectly still and not moving your head. I had to hold them in my ears at the gym! Whenever the cord bounces off your body, you hear it over the music, like a hollow noise. The earbud covers started to come lose and come off the drivers, which had me in a constant state of paranoia of losing them. The very stiff cord makes it impossible to keep the earbuds in your ears, they get yanked out every time you turn your head. The cord also does not lie flat against your body, which makes it easier for others to accidentally yank the buds out when they walk past you. Long story short - I seem to have lost them on a recent trip, and I am not getting a replacement pair.

5 comments about Skullcandy SC-LOW/MacGr Lowrider Headphone (Green).
- I am happy with the headphones. They are cool looking and the sound is decent. Sometimes they slip off a little too easy.
- I bought these headphones at Circuit City and they are going back within 24 hours!! They were going to replace an old set of Sony MDR series studio headphones. First, the Lowriders are really made cheap, the drivers have ZERO bass and all my music sounded like it was being transmitted from one tin can to another across an alley!!! Sound quality is very poor. I am going to spend a few extra bucks and get something else like the Bose around-ear headphones. So stay away from the Lowriders by Skull Candy, they are horrible.
- Bought these as a quick replacement for my old IPod headpones (Sennheiser portable). The build quality on these is simply atrocious. The head band is made from really bad quality plastic and it stretches immensely. No matter how much you adjust them they won't stay on the head - you can practically take that headband and wrap it around itself, it doesn't serve any useful function. All it takes for the headphones to fly off your head is to shake it or to look down. Don't believe the teenage reviewers here who rate them high because of the looks - these headphones are much worse than even the airline headphones.
Sound quality is OK. Not great, but I wouldn't expect much from portable headphones anyway.
- After seeing a few products from the skull candy headphones line, i instantly wanted a pair of the headphones, so i started looking. I wanted collapsible headphones, to make traveling easy, and these fit the shoe. Unfortunetly there were many bad reviews of this product, and i backed away from these headphones. today i was at fye, and saw a pair for 20$, and decided to buy them because of the price. I am overall happy with these, they are light, portable, and comfortable. The speakers lack some bass, but the sound is pretty good otherwise. They dont hug your ears because of the day the rotating ear phones are made, its a bit of a design defect in a way, but they still fit comfortably.
If you can find an affordable pair, i suggest you go for it.
(did i not mention they are probably some of the coolest looking headphones out there too?)
- Ahh, skullcandy, great headphones, I like these because of the nice cushion they have on the ear parts, and on the bottom of the top area. The shipping was fast, Nice design, overall 5/5. Great job guys.

- I ordered this 2.5mm extension cable for a remote shutter release for a Canon rebel xti (400d). I don't have the remote yet to test the working condition of the product but not too worried considering its an extension cable. I'm amazed at shipping. Order was placed on may 1rst and i recieved the product on the 7th. To add, i live in south korea and wasn't charged with shipping or sales tax. Very pleased with transaction of product and seller. If i could i would rate at an 8 instead of a 5!

- These headphones sound awesome on my Cowon D2. Excellent frequency range. Deep crisp bass. Crystal clear highs. Mid range is so-so. They make my ears sweat. Very comfortable. Low ohm rating makes it ideal for wimpy MP3 Players. Big and bulky but definitely recommend!
- Superb phones. Great sound, very sturdy, very comfortable.
Low impedance, so they are great for using on computer. No tangle, sturdy cord is excellent. I bought these 2 years ago for $99 and they were worth every penny!
- I was looking for some full sized headphones for at home listening, and I came across these. They pretty much met my expectations, but did not greatly exceed them.
Pros
-Bass is accurate, deep, and has a nice subtle "rumbling" feel to it.
-Sparkling high end, good mids (although not as noteworthy as the bass or treble).
-Great frequency response (5-30k hz)
-Comfortable padding, does not squeeze your head
-Low impedance, so its easier to drive than most full size or even regular neckband/around the ear headphones
-Auto adjusting headband, so theres no need to constantly adjust.
-Really light, so theres no strain on your head or neck at all.
Cons
-Does not block outside noise very well. You'd expect big around ear headphones to block out some noise, but these pretty much are the same as regular headphones.
-Pretty big, not that I mind, but some people will.
-Not the most stylish thing you'll ever wear.
-Pretty much all plastic, and considering how light it is, it may feel a little "cheap" to some.
-The padding isn't it best. Its a thin urethane leather, which kinda feels it may rip or shred after constant use, although it hasn't for me yet. If you have a lot of dandruff or greasy hair, then padding and the cloth inside the muffs can attract a lot of that.
Overall its a good buy. I wouldn't say its the absolute best bang for your buck you'll ever get, because there are other excellent headphones at this price also, but its good enough. If you aren't planning to use this in a noisy place, and don't mind the size, then this would be a great buy. The sound quality is fantastic, especially for this price.
- My daughter just loves these earphones. She says the clarity of sound is very good and they are very comfortable on the ears.
- I got these because they were rated pretty high on here and they looked decent. But there's a couple things you need to know before buying these:
1) They're gigantic. The picture doesn't do it justice, they're enormous and the over the head band makes you look like an alien or something. Not for traveling whatsoever (not that they're designed for that, just pointing out that you will NEVER takes these with you somewhere).
2) The sound quality is meh. I had a different pair of sony street style headphones which I got for 30$ and they had twice as good sound quality as these. The bass is there but it's weak and won't satisfy.
3) They're really not very comfortable. The speaker parts are slanted to accommodate your ears, but they're also hard and inflexible, and if you wear them for much longer than an hour they will start to hurt and will become very uncomfortable.
4) They're not well made (or at least mine wasn't). I've only had them for a few months but some part of the internal connection from the cord to the right earpiece has come loose so now the audio flickers in and out on the right side unless I find the right position for my head and then stay exactly still, which needless to say becomes very irritating.
So overall I would say don't buy them, you're likely better of with something else for an equivalent price.

5 comments about AKG Acoustics K26P Foldable Stereo Folding Headphones.
- For the size, portability and price, these are really good headphones. Of course, you can get better for a much higher price, but if you are looking for something you can easily carry with you to replace those awful earbuds, look no further. You'll hear a whole range of sound that you've been missing.
Some have said these are a bit tight fitting. My head is not particularly small. I've not had any problem at all with these feeling overly tight on my head. If anything, I really appreciate the snugness and how they block out extraneous environment sounds.
- I bought 2 pairs of these headphones about 1 1/2 years ago. I do like the headphones. Not the best fit in the world, but I think they provide excellent sound quality and block out surrounding noise. Great for the price (I found them online for ~$35 at the time.)
Unfortunately, one pair is no longer working. Called AKG for warranty replacement/repair and they told me the model is now obsolete and parts are not carried any more. They said they could upgrade to the K414 P for $139.99! Whoa! Looks like an identical product to the K26P.
At that price I may just hack into the old headphones myself and try to fix them!
Too bad since one reason I buy AKG products is their warranty (2 sometimes 3 year warranties). I may hesitate in the future to buy AKG products that cost more because of this warranty issue.
- I love these headphones. They have great sound quality and have made me appreciate my music by bringing out the small details that you miss in other speakers and headphones. I highly recommend them. That said, they do have a couple small flaws. Here are my Pros and Cons
Pros
- Superior sound quality. Everything sounds better in the these AKGs. After buying these now I realize how bad my car stereo and my other pairs of headphones are. The bass is very clear, so you can hear very subtle changes in basslines. The highs are amazing. You can hear some great detail, such as extra echo on the bongo drums or longer vibration of the strings on acoustic guitars. And you can hear these details even at low volumes, which isn't the case for any other headphones I've had. I'm not a gamer, but I also imagine these would be good headphones for first-person shooters. You should be able to hear small footsteps and other subtle sounds very clearly.
- Good Size. These are pretty small for being over-the-ear headphones, so you don't feel like an idiot walking around or riding public transportation with them on. They are also very light on your head. I use these for everything except for going to the gym, and that's only because I don't want to sweat on them and dirty them.
- Portability. They fold up very nicely and come with a small carrying bag. They'll fit easily in small backpack pockets or in a purse, and the foldability probably also protects them from breaking.
Cons
-Noise Reduction. Although sound quality is great, their ability to reduce outside noise is only ok. They are fine for most situations, but i was disappointed with their performance on an airplane. They did very little to get rid of the loud hums.
-Comfort. They were uncomfortable at first, although I've gotten used to them and they don't give me much problems anymore. They're still not very comfortable if you want to use them primarily for multiple hour sessions. Also, if you have a big head these might be a little snug for you.
Overall, these are a really great pair of headphones that provide superior sound quality at a reasonable price. I am very satisfied with them and have recommended them to all my friends. I would only caution against them for people who want to use them primarily on airplanes or who are very picky about comfort. More than anything, headphones should give you great sound quality, and these definitely do the job.
- I bought a pair of these headphones about 6 months ago to replace a pair of Sennheiser PX-200s that came apart on me. I dearly loved those Sennheisers, so the AKGs had a serious gap to fill. I was leary about buying them for the price I got because as we all know, you get what you pay for. However, I was quite pleased with the sound quality out of these little guys. The bass drive is just as deep as on the PX-200s. Perhaps even more so! The highs are also quite clearly reproduced in these as well. The mids? Eh, I think the PX-200s have an edge there. These don't have quite the "full" sound that the PX-200s did, though it is very good in its own right. It's not so much important on pop and rock music. But when you get into, say, classical music, you can definitely tell the difference. But for most people, I don't think you'll notice a difference so much. The cushioning on the earpads is quite comfortable and block out quite a bit of noise while sealing in what should be sealed in. DEFINITELY better in that department. But as mentioned in other reviews, the overall comfort leaves a bit to be desired. The tension on the band is pretty stiff and tight. Longer listening sessions can get downright bothersome because of this. Perhaps it just needs to be worked in a bit more. But overall, they are very good headphones and I'm pretty happy with them. I think I'll get another pair of PX-200s when I move back to MN. Until then, these are working out a lot better than I expected them to.
- Excellent for a portable device or any application. Clear highs,a focused mid, and a tight bass. Could use a slight boost in the 60-100HZ range but very good as is in most situations. These phones have a very "live" sound with great stereo separation and definition.Very adjustable with a nice firm fit. In almost daily use for the past three months, very durable.Very comparable to Bose on-the-ear and superior to the Bose over-the-ear phones I tried prior to purchase. I recently purchased the AKG 27i model for my wife...would give it the same recommendation.

5 comments about Kensington Noise Cancelling Headphones ( 33084 ).
- I've never really been a sound snob, so simple ear bud headphones have been my routine, but I got sick of not being able to hear stuff with ear buds if I was mowing the lawn or using a snowblower.
I bought these a couple of months ago and love them. I have a REALLY loud snowblower and I was amazed at how well I could hear while snow blowing the other day. I listen to podcasts on my iPod, and spoken word was always impossible to hear while doing anything noisy. But these headphones make it so that even the loudest noises become a very low hum while the music or spoken word comes through really great without seeming too loud.
Like I say, this is my first pair of noise-cancelling headphones I've ever owned so I can't compare them other brands, but I'm very impressed at this pair and how the outside noises are greatly reduced or eliminated.
- A few years ago I bought noise cancelling headphones from Sharper Image for $50. Recently the cords were in a terrible accident involving sharp cat teeth. Very upset I tried to find them again online. While I couldn't get them from Sharper Image, I stumbled upon these from Kensington. Exact same headphones except there was now a blue piece on them but the price was now $20 less! I really like these headphones. I have been using them for years everywhere - buses, cars, waiting rooms, home, gym, by the pool, in a park, and airplanes. I do notice an odd tinny noise if I try to use these with tape players or turn on the noise cancelling without listening to anything. Otherwise, with CD players, DVD players and MP3 players I have really enjoyed them. I find that most sound is blocked and the quality of sound is excellent. They work perfect for my needs. If you don't want to pay $300 for a pair of Bose and your needs aren't extensive get these!
- These are not at all reliable.
These sound bad too, they just add a hiss and boost the sound thats all.
- I own both these and the Sennheiser pxc300's. The Sennheisers win hands down, The Sennheisers also cost about 7 times as much. These Kensingtons are much larger and cover more of the ears, but nowhere near the noise-killing quality of the others. (but the price is also much less) These kill a little bit of noise, but they introduce a hiss.. basically, it is like turning Dolby NR off and hearing the hiss (if you remember those days). I will use these around the house to watch vids on my machine, but when I am sitting in the back row of a MD80 next to a P&W..I am not gonna use these. No problems with weight or comfort. Sound is good enough. Cellular interference is awful. So.. were they worth the price? yeah, but not too functional as noisekillers.
- I needed a pair of headphones that I could use on airplanes that would actually allow me to hear what was playing. To that end these work as advertised. The ear cups are comfortable (wore them for over 3 hours in-flight). I could hear the movie I was watching while the drone of the plane's engines faded into the background.
Some may complain about the sound quality, bass, frequency response and such. To them I say go ahead and spend the extra money (A lot of extra money). For the majority of users these will work just fine. Great value for the money
