1. I purchased three of these headsets to go along with two others that we already had (one set was original to the Town & Country minivan and the other set was made by Audiovox). I like the overall quality of the headsets ok, but the thing that I like about Audiovox that this set lacks is an automatic shut off. We have replaced the batteries in all three sets already, but still haven't replaced them in the audiovox set (purchased around the same time). It is a bit irritating. I think the money I saved by buying this cheaper set is going to go towards batteries! The earpads are well cushioned and can snap off if flexed too far (I thought they had been broken at first), so that was a relief. The plastic casing is very thin and I'm afraid won't hold up all that well, but we'll see. Overall, they are a nice set if you aren't going to be using them all the time. If they are going to get frequent use I would opt for a better quality set (with an auto shut-off).



2. I bought these as an extra for the player we have in our van. We make a 2500 mile round trip at least once a year and my husband and I like to listen to the books on tape while the kids are watching movies. Our kids are 1,3,5 so I wasn't really expecting these to last more than a trip or two for the price. They are surprisingly sturdy, more so than the Rosens that came with the system. The sound quality is great for the kids and they fit them better than the other earphones. The only thing that may be a problem is that there is a part on the ear piece that snaps off and the kids liked to play with it at first, but it easily snaps back on without affecting performance. Overall I am extremely happy with this product.



3. I purchased one set of headphones to replace one of two that were part of a more expensive set.
   
   At only $20 or so, this is a steal, but you get what you pay for. Reception is not as good, sound quality is not the best and those little pads continually fell off the ear piece. Ultimately, one of the sides came loose - I don't know how to explain it - and my husband glued it together.
   
   Keep in mind my children are 7 yrs. old and 3 yrs. old - if you have older children this is probably a great deal!



4. I purchased as an add on for our 2006 Town and Country Mini Van Factory DVD system. They seem to work well. They also seem to fit my young children (3 and 5) better than the factory supplied headsets. I'm satisfied with the purchase.



5. This product has worked very well. My kids prefer these headsets to the two that came with the van. They seem to work well and fit great.

1. Rane has discontinued this model and updated it to the HC 6S. I have the HC 4S (for 4 headphones), which amazon doesn't list. I'm using the HC 4S with the computer setup I mention as current in my review of the Griffin FireWave (Mac G4, Philips 32 ohm headphones), and a Hosa CMP-153 - Audio cable. (Monster Cable makes the Stereo 1/8 Inch Mini to Dual 1/4 Inch - also in a shorter version - which would also work.)
   
   I didn't expect much of a difference, and bought the amp because I wanted more volume (loudness) and because I intend to replace the Philips headphones with 80 ohm Beyer-Dynamics. The amp provides not only greater volume of loudness but a richer volume of tone. It expands the sound, and the sound remains clear. This is comparing the headphones plugged directly into the FireWave versus having the amp between the FireWave and the headphones.
   
   I was surprised to find that a classical music CD sounds better through the Rane amp connected to the computer than through the living room stereo system and the headphone jack of the receiver. The "resolution" of the sound through the Rane HC 4S remains clear, rich, and articulated, no matter the loudness, whereas through the Sony receiver (using the same headphones) it sounds full but muddy and bloated, even at low loudness volumes.
   
   Think of the resolution of a digital movie or photo, of how the picture gets fuzzy at higher magnifications. Even though the picture is large (it fills up more volume) it isn't articulated. The Sony lacks articulation even at low volumes, even though it sounds "full".
   
   Note: The HC 6S has features not found in the HC 4S.
   
   Rane products are made in the USA and come standard with a 2 year warranty. If you return your warranty card to them on time, they extend the warranty to 3 years.
