5 comments about Skullcandy SC-GI G.I. Stereo Headphones (Black/Snow Camo).
- I wrote an initial review that praised these headpohones, but after a recent breakdown, I had to readjust my rating from 4 to 1 star. Below is my initial review followed by the update:
I can't really say whether these reviews are accurate or not because I've only had my pair for 9 days (they were a Valentine's Day gift). I can say this much: so far, so good.
The Cons:
Like others have stated already, the sound is good, but not great and they don't get very loud (the bass is virtually nonexistant too). The coord is long, but it's also incredibly flimsy for a set that's supposed to be high quality.
The Pros:
I gave these a 4 star rating simply because, so far, they're durable, they're affordable, and (despite what I've read) quite comfortable -- in my opinion. I've spent hours and hours spinning records with these on and I haven't had any discomfort (I should mention that I have small ears). Despite the heavy mileage I've already put on them, again, I may not be the best judge because I've only had them for 9 days. The package also contains a few cool skullcandy stickers, an adapter for stereos/mixers and the like, a nice looking travel bag that has room for more than just the headphones, and a pair of black ear cushions if you don't like the camo.
My personal opinion as a DJ:
While these aren't the worst headphones out there, you should probably go for something better if you have the cash. I swear by the Senheisser brand, but those and other high end brands can get a little expensive depending on the quality level you want. I think Skullcandy spent more time on the cosmetic aspect instead of focusing on performance, but I'd easily recommend these to beginners or those that want a more affordable, above average set of headphones.
We'll see if I can say that they're durable 6 months from now though. I'll update this review if they turn out to be crappy, but so far they aren't.
Update: March 12, 2007 Like most of these reviews have stated, these things don't last. I went to turn my set on and they just gave out on me -- I haven't had them for more than a month (it'll be a month on the 14th). I haven't dropped them or yanked the cord or anything of that nature, yet my headphones have failed on me. For that very reason, I reduce my rating from 4 to 1 star. These things are terrible.
- I purchased these headphones about a month ago and they are a great product. Great sound and design. The look is impeccable. The thing that got me real pumped was that it was sent in the actual packaging unopened. I expected to just get the headphones in a random box. Great shipping. GET THIS PRODUCT!!
- Don't waste your money on these things! You can get a far better pair of headphones for comparable or less money spent. These things are nothing more than a marketing scheme to sell a look and fashion accessory. These headphones sound terrible and are very uncomfortable. TOTAL P.O.S.!!!
- At first i loved the look but after like 2 weeks the right headphone snapped and made wearing them imposible i am NOT satisfied at all and i wish i got the one year cover on it
- Despite the low reviews for these headphones, I purchased them in the hopes of getting a better sound from my Zune. At first The sound was soft while listening to music and videos. In order to get a better quality of sound, your music files need to be uploaded to your Mp3 player at a higher quality, 192kbps or better from within the Mp3 player program (ex. zune program, itunes etc). After doin this the sound quality became a 100% beeter and louder with a good range of bass and treble. Movies sound great as well, voices and sound effect are great. The headphones reduce the outside noise a lot but not completly.

- I have had two pairs of these headphones, not because they broke but I lost them. I use these running...they stay on and have great sound and I love the retractable cord! you tug the earphones and the wire retracts, put the plug
into a little jack on the headphone and the cord winds up. I get stares at my gym from people looking to see what brand i have because well..they are cool. I would never ever go back to the basic cord style! Also the plastic around the ear is comfortable!

3 comments about Beyerdynamic DT 250 - Headphones ( ear-cup ).
- These earphones are interesting.
Pro: They are sealed, circumaural cans, and the 80-ohm version (the DT 250-80) is easily driven by portable electronics.
Con: The cans themselves are not all that portable, as they're full-sized and don't fold.
Pro: The cord is detachable.
Con: The plug connecting it to the phones is HUGE (about 2 inches long), and the company (or anyone else, for that matter) does not make any cables for this headset except for the stock cable, making a detachable cable pretty pointless.
You get the idea. Sonically, these things are very good for sealed cans, and I carry them regularly with my MP3 player for travel. Although the external noise blocking is not as good as that provided by earplug-type headphones (such as Etymotic 4 series, another of my favorites) it is quite good, and the phones are useable on airplanes. If you want a full-sized set of headphones that can run off a portable, I would recommend these.
- Excellent quality of manufacturing, outstanding sounding. I use these headphones with my Creative X-Fi ElitePro sound card, and this is the best sound I've ever heard.
- Nice cans for the money.
I use them eight hours a day at work at the computer. They are well sealed. So I don't bother the neighbors in other cubes.
I don't really notice them. I can't tell you how high the highs or how low the bass -- it's just the music -- almost all classical. I took them home and tried them with the head amp and, of course, they sound better, but they are fine on their own. I might look at Headroom's bit-head amplifier since that can run off the USB.

4 comments about Koss JR900 Cordless Stereo Headphones.
- Koss JR900 Cordless Stereo Headphones are the best in cordless. I've shopped around in many stores looking for such a bargain. I can't find one. The average price was 500.00. These headphones can work throughout my whole house! I just plug them into my computer and listen to MP3's while I clean. There great and very comfortable. I will encourage everyone to buy these well made Headphones.
- Listening to classical CDs throughout the house was my goal in purchasing these cordless headphones. General reception is pretty good, although it does fade in and out somewhat as I move through the house. Most annoying, however, is a constant background hiss, which distracts from the high quality sound I hoped for.
Your satisfaction with this product will probably depend on your listening preferences. Most radios stations and many pop-type CDs would come through just fine. Discriminating lovers of more quiet music will not be satisfied.
- If you like quiet music or wish to be mobile then these are definitely not for you.
Unless the volume reaches a certain level, then there is just too much hiss. To drown out the hiss you either need to increase the volume sufficiently that you cannot hear anything else in the room (that's not very high since these are closed earphones), or play different music. Even when you are within 2 meters of the transmitter, moving your head just a couple of inches can result in signal break-up. If you are prepared to sit still and listen to rock music at the right volume then the sound quality really is quite good. However for over $200 more flexibility is expected both in terms of mobility and clearity. In mono the hiss goes away, as does the signal breakup (within 10 meters). However, you are paying for stereo headphones. The batteries don't last long (maybe 4 hours) and to recharge them you must connect a cable between the headphones and the base unit and push a switch on the base. With some other makes you only need sit them on a stand. Also the batteries cannot easily be swapped. So if you want to listen for 6 hours, or you forgot to charge them, you'll just have to wait until they are recharged. You cannot just insert a new battery. They are a bit on the heavy side. Something I do like is that there is no tuning dial for the radio signal, so cannot accidently detune them.
- Ok lets face it, wireless headphones certainly haven't been perfected yet and any wireless headphones that operate on radio frequency (like these headphones) are going to have some kind of hissing and reception noise but I expected a little more at this price from Koss considering they're suppose to be state of the art in headphones! For Koss to have the balls to ask $300.00 (at Koss.com $400.00) is totally ridiculous! These wireless headphones are no better than wireless headphones that cost anywhere between $50.00 - $100.00. The sound quality is a little better than cheaper wireless headphones but what sinks these is the reception. I don't recommend these for this price, it's a total rip off! The only benefit to owning these is the lifetime warranty.
