- Great product - works great with an iPod to wear around your neck - but it has an extra safety feature besides the connection for the earphones - a small cord that links the headphones to the iPod. We have bought several of these for ourselves and gifts. The Apple lanyard just isn't as secure as this product. You do have to have a case that you can secure the lanyard to.
- I thought these were the headphones I previously owned (the actual earbuds are the same) but it turns out these are connected to a very ugly reflective silver necklace. I'm not sure what to do with them now, it's vain yes, but I'm sorry if I don't want to look like a character from star trek.

- They are well made, offering the hope of long service. Good sound quality. Comfortable earpads. Good length cord, but it might be a bit thin. There is NO padded headband as claimed in the Amazon listing. I got it a bit cheaper from another source, and am satisfied that I got my money's worth. Twenty bucks is a little too much.
- I tend to trash headphones every couple of months and so I don't like spending too much on general use headphones. I've been using this set for a couple of months for gaming and music use and have found them to be comparable in terms of sound quality to headphones at double the price. The long wire is excellent, you can use a second system to drive the music and certainly gives you options on where to plug the jack. The ear pads are quite comfortable. I really have nothing to complain about these headphones. The treble and bass response, though not top of the line are satisfactory for most use. You may pay $50 for another pair and may or may not be satisfied. This will not be the case with this pair.

- These are the most incredible headphones I have owned (two pairs of Shures, Phillips, Sony, Skullcandy). Incredible sound at low volumes - classical and punk alike sounded awesome. The only drawback - very hard to fit. The "speaker" is quite large and the rubber earpieces are very thin - makes for a hard and somewhat uncomfortable fit, BUT these headphones ROCK.
- I bought these for half the list price. Even then, it is still very worth the $100 IMO. The bass is rather neutral, just a little deep, fast, and lean. It can be fun with genres like electronica. But where this headphone really shines is with things like jazz, where the soundstage(depth and breadth of sound) gives plenty rooms to all the instruments, and the excellent mids(for music that is) leads to great vocals. The highs are rather dry, but still detailed and extended, responsive, and bright.
Also, this headphone has EXCELLENT comfort. They are very light to hold and just as light on your head. But build quality is kind of on the light side. Not bad, per se, but just a little wobbly when holding the headphone. However, they do not give the impression that the DTX will break easily.
Over all, a great headphone!
(As a reference, this is a list of headphones I've owned, or had the chance to listen to for a few days: Grado SR 80, Beyerdynamic DT 770/80, DT 880, Equation Audio RP-22x, Sennheiser HD 555 and HD 280 pro. Hope that gives perspective to my review of the DTX's!)
- This is my fifth different in-ear monitor headphone. My first were the Sony EX71, then Etymotic ER-6, then Sennheiser CX-300, then the Q-Jays and the latest DTX 50. I can say without hesitation that these are the worst IEM out of all that I have tried for several reasons.
1. Fit. The silicon sleeves on the DTX 50 are thinner than the other headphones listed above. The plastic casing actually is wider than the silicon part about 3/8ths of an inch in. The casing will hit your inner ear when installed correctly. It hurts my ears after an hour and caused my ear to hurt the next day with moderate use.
2. Sound - The first thing you will notice is the boomy bass. It's not clean, and the midbase is exaggerated. It overpowers the midrange, which comes off as understated. The highs are nice, but not great. The imaging is on par, maybe slightly better than the Sony 71s, but nothing special. Overall, you have a sound quality is no better than the Sony 71s, and definitely below the Sennheiser, Etymotic and Q-Jays.
3. Price - $70?!? These headphones should cost $30. At that price, I would still not recommend them, but they would be worth considering if you listen to hip-hop/rap, as the high bass output might be desirable.
Bottom line - No matter your budget or music preference, there is another pair of headphones out there that are better for you. Most would be best served by the Sennheiser CX-300 as the sound to price ratio is exceptional.
UPDATE 10/02/08 - My primary pair of q-Jays needed to go in for repair, so i have been using these for a few weeks now and have grown to appreciate them. First, i didnt think that IEMs needed break in time, but the bass seems to have calmed down a bit. Either that or its not bothering me as much. It's still not clean sounding, but its not as bad as i made it out to be. Second, I was overly critical of the highs. They are still not on the same level as the q-Jays, but they arent bad... and are definately better than the Sony 71s. Possibly better than the CX-300s... i haven't found them to be harsh at all after some break in time. Overall, i would give these 3 stars if i could change the review, but for some reason, Amazon isn't letting me.
