  1. Bought this product for Christmas for my 4 yo son to use with his cd player. It has saved our sanity!! He can plug it in himself and listen to his cds. The cord to the headphones has a volume slide. The tiger design is super cute and easy for him to put on. It is well padded and comfortable. I highly recommend.

  2. These rock. My 3 year old daughter wears them comfortably and we no longer have to listen to her shows from the back seat.

In addition, she can hear her shows better over the hum of the SUV.

And she loves the tiger design. Excellent product.

Can't comment on the audio quality other than to say my daughter's not complaining!

  3. Got two sets - Tiger & Panda - for our nearly 4 and 6 1/2 year old. They fit great, are comfortable & quiet and the individual volumn control is great. We use them w/the portable DVD player in the car. Nice and quiet! Cute too.

3 comments about Sony MDR-NC40 Noise Canceling Headphone (Black).
  1. The Sony MDR-NC40 is ok, when it is turned on. When the power is off, it sounds horrendous. I thought it might be the EQ settings of my MP3 player, but these headphones, when it is turned off, sounds awful no matter what it is plugged into. The power switch activates the noise cancellation feature, but it is also needed for sound quality.

When the power is on, it truly comes alive! It produces deep bass and clear treble. I heard instruments being played in certain R&B songs that I haven't heard before with my cheaper Sony headphones. If these headphones did not have noise cancellation, it would still be worth the price for its sound quality.

These are the first pair of headphones I own that have noise cancellation, so I'm not a good critic to judge the feature. What I can say is that it works, and it works really well. When the headphone is one on, it will greatly reduce a lot of noise. I use it whenever I ride public transit, and now I can read or do whatever without getting distracted. The noise cancellation will not block out conversations; it will just "muffle" it.

These headphones are designed to fit on the ear and, before I bought it, I was worried that my ears would be in pain after using it for a few hours. Fortunately, I was really surprised at how comfortable it fits. I wear these headphones when I watch movies, when playing my video games, and everywhere else when I'm listing to music. Not once have I ever felt uncomfortable and needed to take a break because of the fit. If it gives you a better image, I wear 7 ½ sized caps, and these headphones are perfect for my head.

    Pros:
    - Sound quality is exceptionally good for the price.
    - Noise cancellation is great.

    Cons:
    - Sound quality relies on the power being on, so be prepared to have working AAA battery whenever you use the headphones. This should have been stated on the package.

  2. I have a pair of Bose around the ear, Shure soft gel ear plug style earphones, and Sony ear buds. The noise reduction circuitry on these Sony headphones is at least 10 dB and seems a little more than the Bose. The Shure ear plug style head phones beat them both in the noise reduction department by a good bit. The Sony headphones are comfortable to wear and fold up to a compact size and easily fit in a provided soft case. If you sit on the couch or even move about indoors, the Sony headphones are a little bass heavy but produce fairly accurate sound reproduction. A major problem is if you wear them outside, wind noise is dramatically amplified. In a 15 knot wind, the amplified wind noise actually drowned out the music from an iPod at a moderate listening level. This is not an issue at all with the Sony ear buds nor with the Bose around the ear phines. The Shure in the ear phones created some horribly distracting background noise when walking or jogging while wearing them. Bottom line: if you're going to wear any of these while sitting on the couch motionless, Shure is # 1 by far, Bose # 2 by a little over Sony, and the ear buds a distant # 4. If worn while walking up to a moderate pace, Bose is # 1, ear buds # 2, and Sony MDR-NC40 and Shure in the ear are unacceptable. Wind noise is amplified horribly with these Sony head phones. If jogging, only the ear buds cut it. Hope this helps.

  3. Sony Mdr-Nc40 Noise Canceling Headphone (Black)
As long time audiophile (30 years) I still find digital fiddling with music a little disconcerting, but these headphones do the job at the price point intended. Even though advertised "iPhone compatible" I was worried until the jack fit perfectly in the iPhone, a problem to date.

While some may scoff, I have never heard a set of speakers or headphones that didn't benefit from a "white noise break-in" which I will commence this evening. My initial impression bordered on 5 stars, but the extra bass bump with the noise cancelling on, dropped it down a star. I have been listening to my iPhone with the $100 in-the-ear-canal VModa earplugs and was concerned my high frequency hearing was deteriorating faster than I had thought. The VModa's must roll off at 12kHz...These Sony phones brought out crystaline delicate highs I haven't experienced for years. I suppose my old Sennheisers and Yamaha headsets were in need of replacement long ago...

I have tried the Bose noise cancelling phones and they did a very good job...of filtering out the music and feeling like a pair of socks were placed in my ears. I know there are many Bosse fans out there, but audio equipment has always been broken down into two major categories for me: Realism vs.Drama (Bose being dramatic, like the old floor standing speakers with the equalization box). I come from the Linn Sondek realism school, but that is a different story for a different time. Anyway, the Bose noise cancelling phones, were horrid, unmusical sound control devices. If I would have been forced to choose that day (at the Bose Store), I would have purchased the convential Bose headphones. I know little of the digital processing for noise cancelling save the generation of an inverse (out of phase) wave of the "detected noise" to cause cancellation. Automotive companies are/have experimented with this concept to eliminate exhaust system noise.

The Sony's are a bit bass heavy in the noise cancel mode without flattening out the highs however. Turning off the noise canceling removes the bassiness, but I can live with the fat bottom end as this is the more preferrable setting if again forced to choose. These phones image spectacularly and handle vocals with a smooth easy, effortless swweetness. You can actually understand the singer and what he/she is singing. Mind you, I still am getting used to the lossy MP3 encoding after years of analog addiction, but the Sony's for the price are a great buy. Note I am saying $100 is well spent.

After a few weeks of white nosie on these guys, I can bet they will get better. My acid test will be on my home system with a DMP label CD recording, the closest thing to analog available. To this date, no one understands digital recording and production like Tom Jung and Co. I will report back as I am fascinated to see if my $100 love affair lasts.

5 comments about Sound-Squared "SPORT" earphones earbuds for ipod or MP3 MP4.
  1. This is the first review I've ever written. I felt compelled to tell others what I think about these earbuds. I have tried several different kinds in the past but have always had to go back to bulky head phones because I couldn't find any to fit my tiny ear canals. These fit perfect and stay on while exercising, gardening, sleeping, whatever. I'm sold!!!

  2. These headphones have really good sound and a comfortable feel to them (they pretty much stay in your ears no matter what), but after about a month of use with them, the plug-in started to short out and would only produce sound for the right side bud. I would send them back if i could find any sort of warranty deal with sound squared but as far as i can tell that doesn't exist. overall - a waste of $25.

  3. All I can say is that they are so awesome. I LOVE the fact that there are exchangeable ear foam plugs. I haven't seen this feature on many other sets. The sound is fantastic. They totally block out all outside noise. I can actually feel the bass vibrate the earbuds. I'll tell you it is quite an amazing sensation!

These fit over my ears snugly and stay put when I use my Wii dance mat. Some people might think they are a bit pricey. But since I bought an expensive ipod and it came with such lame earbuds, I had no problem buying a better quality set, so the price doesn't really matter.
I was suprised that they didn't come with directions. If I need replacement parts down the road I'm not sure who I can contact.
But this tiny flaw should not stop anyone from buying this superior product.

  4. I bought a pair as I read that these earphones stay in ears, and yes they do! In addition, when mine broke by accident, they replaced them free. I was so happy with the product and their customer service that I bought another pair for my husband. He is happy as they stay in his ears and have good sound. I've never written a review before, but I had to write this one as we are truly happy customers.

  5. I really like these SOUND brand earphones/earbuds. I purchased others and sent them back. The price is great and they are very comfortable. The sound is excellent too and has nice base. When I am walking on the treadmill or doing any other exercising, they stay put and you hardly know they are there! I had Sony before and these are more comfortable and again, the base is great on them.
You can't go wrong buying these, Price wise and quality, I have found them to be excellant!

  1. These headphones sound great (for the price) but I found them uncomfortable and to add insult to injury, stupid looking. The outer portion of the headphone looks suspiciously like a car rim is painted to look like carbon fiber. Carbon fiber?

  2. nice headphones. good fit -they stay put, great sound, and excellent build quality.

  3. I went through two sets of Shure's, Beyerdynamics, Skullcandy - none of them fit - the Shure's and the Beyerdynamics sounded incredible - but they were not comfortable and I could not use them. These were a great deal (rebate), they sound wonderful and they are incredibly comfortable. I use them in the office, walking around downtown and I absolutely love them. I use them with a 20 GB IPOD. I listen to a very wide range of music - from old school rap to classical and opera and they are quite versatile. 100% satisfied - I am so glad I am done looking for headphones.

  4. These headphones have good quality sound. I use them for jogging and there's not too much to complain about there. They stay on well enough. My only complaint is that the band that goes behind the neck is not adjustable. Not a big deal in terms of function, but the band sticks out a bit in the back and looks a little goofy. All around pleased with the product, and would recommend it.

  5. You could say that I am an audiophile, and these cans are definitely an awesome bang-for-the-buck. It is a good 2ndary headphone to larger/bulkier/more expensive headphones. The sound is very natural and the bass is deep, but not overwelming. The highs are very clear and detailed. These sound good with a flat EQ setting

The only con I can think of is that the plastic/rubber clips can be a little uncomfortable to your ears if worn for a long period of time. Also, my sunglasses keep sliding off because those clips get in the way!

5 comments about Shure SCL2 Single High Energy Driver Earphone - Black.
  1. I bought the E2c 8 months ago, 2 weeks ago I started listening static; apparently was something wrong with the cable, I returned the earphones to Shure for warranty repair and yesterday I received a package from Shure with a letter inside apologizing because the E2c is no longer in stock and there is no way to repair my earphones, in exchange they send me a new pair of SCL2 for free.
There is a great difference in the quality between the E2c and SCL2, the SCL2 has a more flexible cable and a deeper bass
I recommend this earphones they have a good quality and excellent customer service, which is rare to find nowadays, it took me only a week to receive my new SCL2.

  2. I'm on my second pair of Shures. The first were E2's that the right side just quit working. They were probably 10 months old. Now I have SCL2's which they sent me instead of the E2's. I'm 8 months into owning them and the LEFT side is now DEAD. I don't think I'm hard on earphones; I just use them at the gym and walking and the bulk of the time is talk podcasts! I guess I'm glad they have a two year warranty, but it would be nicer if they just made earphones that would last for at least a year, for these prices. They'd get 1 star if they didn't stand by their warranty. I'm beginning to wonder if cheap earphones replaced over and over wouldn't cost the same or less than shipping these things back over and over....

  3. I just received a pair of these (in a clear styling) that replace a set of e2s I bought a couple of years ago. They're at least as good, and I suspect (as others have noted) that they'll improve somewhat after the break in period. The fit is good once you find the right match for your ears from the many included options, and unless you are *really* into sound you are going to think these are just great. I'm sure there are people who care a lot more about fine points of sound than I do who will be able to find flaws with these, but there's a point of diminishing returns for me around about this price point, and these are far and away the best I've found in this range.

Most importantly, though, this company totally blows me away with their customer service. My old e2s were about six months out of the very generous two year warranty, but had, about a year ago, started to very infrequently drop out in one ear -- probably a short in that ear's wire. It happened so infrequently that I ignored it until it got worse, and then these were out of warranty. I returned them with a note explaining the situation, and two weeks later got a brand new pair of these in the mail. It is pretty rare to find this kind of customer service, and it definitely factors into my five star review and my loyalty to this brand.

  4. I just got a pair of the Shure SCL2 Sound Isolating Earphones in black and I have to say they sound really good with my iPod and laptop. They don't perform as well as my other set, the Shure SE530's but what do you expect when you compare what $500.00 buys you versus $69.00 or so. These are for me to wear exercising, riding my bicycle, and doing yard work in (which I don't dare do wearing the SE530's). All in all, the bottom-end Bass response is more than adequate and the SCL2's produce clear and pleasing high-end reproduction. A good buy!

  5. Never having used in-ear phones in the past I wasn't quite sure to expect. The only other earphone that I have extensive experience with is a vintage pair of Stax SRX-Mk3s. The E2c was the specific model that I was interested in, mostly in part due to Siegfried Linkwitz' study on reference earphones ([...]). After discovering that the E2c was no longer available I settled on the SCL2. While they do not sound as good as my Stax reference headphones, the SCL2 does sound mighty good. Their level of isolation and comfort using the supplied foam pads is excellent. Overall I am extremely pleased with my purchase.

  1. The bose OE has very bad ergonomics, the sound is just a bit better than senheisser PX 100 but not as good as any sennheiser over 60 (the third part from the retail price for these BOSE OE).

Ergonomics, difficult to fold difficult to extend, don't know why but they have an angle when they are over your ears imposible to accommodate what make them even more uncomfortable, the size is huge in comparision with the PX 100 which are a truth portable, and as you can see from the pictures i have uploaded the BOSE OE make you look ... very strange.

Sound, the sound is good if you compare them with a US 10 dollars headphones or the ones that came with your mp3 player or phone, the sound is just a bit better if you compare them with sennheiser px 100 (much much more comfortale and portable and at US35 they rock) and the BOSE OE are bad sounding if compared to any sennheiser over US60 (Like HD 457, HD 497 which are basic headphones but with amazing sound).

From the pictures and video i hope to be able to upload next you can see how portable and easy to fold are the sennheiser while the Bose are bulky, hard to fold and not as portable.

CONCLUSION : The BOSE OE definitively don't worth the price payed. Just go and buy yourself a PX100, believe me, you will be more than happy with that great portables.

    Greetings from Peru :)

Upgrade: It was difficult to upload a video diretly in amazon so i uploaded one in the tube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYSYZP5GhqM

    Take care

  2. The ear buds that I commute with broke and I decided to try a set of regular headphones this time. These appealed to me becuase of the reasonable size, and after listening to them I was hooked. They are worth every penny, but that's a lot of pennies!!
But there is a downside to this quality - if you think your MP3's or Ipod tunes sound just like a CD, these will show you just where they fall short.

  3. I'll start by saying I am tired of reading all the reviews that state "exaggerated bass" lets try this the Bose on ear triports have successfully designed a very efficient method to bring out that bass that is in most cans but only Bose patented Triport Method can deliver that bass to your ears. One thing I noticed first is that there is a vent on each can so these cans are kind of like open air phones with a huge plus bass. The mids and highs are not drowned out like some say they are flat and perfect if you want more just give it a +2db treble increase. I also noticed when I place these on my head the sound is direct and solid they have a very quiet background ambience where the Sennheiser HD280 sounded like I was in an auditorium. When I tested the cans I did it at flat or +/-0 to be fair and the Bose just shined above the others. When testing on movies the Bose completely took that category with sound better resembling my home theatre. The one thing you will not need with the Bose is any type of bass boost circuitry just shut it all off and enjoy these cans. Has any one noticed all those reviews on other cans where they claim the bass is flat however they have to add up to +12db to extract a desirable amount of bass? The 180 clam price tag is justified in my opinion as you are paying for the R&D that can bring you something so fabulous in a nice small light weight package. One star is lost as the replacement ear cushion kit is no where to be had.

  4. Headphone cord for the Bose on-ear model got damaged so called customer service. They took my name and address, looked up my account and sent a replacement cord next day UpS no charge. They now have a customer for life.

  5. damn this things are amazing, i put off buying these for a while because YES, They are very expensive, however i decided to buy them about 2 weeks ago and they are amazing, i dont even miss the money!!!! everything sounds absolutely fantastic with these, bass is superb and so are the mids and highs, crystal clear sound. they seem sturdy enough to carry around but the carry case is portable enough if you wish to carry them in your backpack to skool or work or watever. You will not regret buying these babies they are fantastic. it is also worth mentioning that they are not noise cancelling but because of the super-confortable memory foam cushion material that adapt to the shape of your ears, THEY DO BLOCK OUT ALOT OF OUTSIDE NOISE, i live in NY so blocking out traffic, horns, and people screaming on the streets is essential, and these sets brings all of those obsructions down to super minimum volume. 100% RECOMMENDED.

p.s: if you are upgrading from those terrible ipod headphones you are in for one BIG improvement here, you will not believe the sound!!!

5 comments about Skullcandy SC-LOW/BG Lowrider Headphone (Black and Gold).
  1. I bought these headphones at Circuit City and they are going back within 24 hours!! They were going to replace an old set of Sony MDR series studio headphones. First, the Lowriders are really made cheap, the drivers have ZERO bass and all my music sounded like it was being transmitted from one tin can to another across an alley!!! Sound quality is very poor. I am going to spend a few extra bucks and get something else like the Bose around-ear headphones. So stay away from the Lowriders by Skull Candy, they are horrible.

  2. Bought these as a quick replacement for my old IPod headpones (Sennheiser portable). The build quality on these is simply atrocious. The head band is made from really bad quality plastic and it stretches immensely. No matter how much you adjust them they won't stay on the head - you can practically take that headband and wrap it around itself, it doesn't serve any useful function. All it takes for the headphones to fly off your head is to shake it or to look down. Don't believe the teenage reviewers here who rate them high because of the looks - these headphones are much worse than even the airline headphones.

Sound quality is OK. Not great, but I wouldn't expect much from portable headphones anyway.

  3. After seeing a few products from the skull candy headphones line, i instantly wanted a pair of the headphones, so i started looking. I wanted collapsible headphones, to make traveling easy, and these fit the shoe. Unfortunetly there were many bad reviews of this product, and i backed away from these headphones. today i was at fye, and saw a pair for 20$, and decided to buy them because of the price. I am overall happy with these, they are light, portable, and comfortable. The speakers lack some bass, but the sound is pretty good otherwise. They dont hug your ears because of the day the rotating ear phones are made, its a bit of a design defect in a way, but they still fit comfortably.
If you can find an affordable pair, i suggest you go for it.

(did i not mention they are probably some of the coolest looking headphones out there too?)

  4. Ahh, skullcandy, great headphones, I like these because of the nice cushion they have on the ear parts, and on the bottom of the top area. The shipping was fast, Nice design, overall 5/5. Great job guys.

  5. Ok I bought these becuase my wife has a pair of Skullcandy Hesh. So I thought these would be kick A"" to there ok. The biggest problem I have with these is they fall off my head all the time so these things are chillin head phones. I got this pair cheap so if you can get them cheap get them because they do sound good not much bass though. Word of advice spend the extra money and get the Skullcandy Hesh they kick and sound better and they dont fall off your head. Oh also leave the skullcrushers alone to not real bass just good vibrations. Thanks

  1. Great earphones... however i was a little disappointed that there is no remote answer button like on the shure headphone adapter which i bought first. also a great item, although excess cable length makes it kind of annoying. great merchandise but worth mentioning before u buy...

  2. After several bluetooth headsets (plantronics/jabra) and some wired ones too, I finally settled on this headphones for my iphone.
    Pros:
1.Good fit even for difficult ears! (there are 3 pairs of earpieces for small/medium/large size ears)
2.Excellent sound quality - both music and phone calls
3.Great microphone - people on the other side hear me clearly and also no extraneous noises (background noise filtering works very well, even with
A/c full on blasting on me in my car or with road noises/wind noises while walking on the road).

Cons: 1. No call answer/hang up button! have to go to the iphone to do that!
    2. no clips for attaching the microphone to the shirt
    3. Wires are long but not too much so it is ok.
    4. Just slightly more expensive, but then you pay more for brand name of Shure and iphone connectivity. (I got it cheaper in AT&T directly for 60$).
COnsidering the number of headsets I have gone through in the last 1 year (more than 10 or so), I like this the best of all those and think will stick to this as long as it lasts.

  1. Make sure you buy these from trusted amazon store. The ones I got didn't work.

  2. Finally, iPod-compatible earbuds not made by Apple. Things I like about these 'phones:

    - They are compatible with many models of the iPod, all of which are named in the product's title. I have had endless issues trying to find 'phones that say "iPod Mini Compatible."

    - Good price.

    - Half the time I feel like with Sony and Panasonic and Apple, you're paying for a brand name. Not the case here, because there is no brand attached to these fine 'phones.

As for the sound quality, I can't say. I've never been a details guy. All I know is I can recognize whether its Jay-Z or Paris blasting through these stylish white 'phones. And at 75 cents, you almost cannot afford to not buy them.

  3. The slightest bump from these headphones and you lose sound in an ear or it becomes scratchy. Haven't encountered this since high school and "walkmans" horrible technology. I'm sad because I purchased 3 pair, thinking no more trips to the apple store, now I have to toss them and head back to purchase the real deal at apple.

  4. THESE ARE NOT APPLE IPOD HEADPHONES

These are a cheap, worthless imitation pair. If your buying these, its obvious you want to buy APPLE headphones, as seen in the picture.

These are cheap white headphones that happen to look like apple buds. They are very poor in quality both in make and sound.

Do not buy these if your looking for good, ipod headphones.

  5. FOr what you pay, expect a produt at the level. The sound is not a good as the original IPOD ear-phone but for the price.....it's worth it.

  1. These headphones are a great improvement over the units packed into most items, iPods, Zunes, etc. The bass response is strong, and the clarity is impressive for this price range.

They are comfortable, and fit well when choosing between the 3 sizes of ear pads.

These have become my default running 'phones. They have been through over one hundred miles and are in great shape still.

They have also accidently gone through two entire wash cycles, and are still in perfect working order.

Highly recommended, but if you are looking for long-term comfortable wear, look no further than the Sennheiser HD-595, which are astounding.

  2. I bought these for my friend and she loves them. I bought J-buds for myself, and I can definitely hear the difference in sound quality between the two. It would be great to have some noise canceling, though, but you need to pay a bit more for that.

  3. The first thing I noticed about these headphones was how comfortable they were in my ear. I own other in-ear phones that are not as nice as these. The sound quality is fantastic, which is expected of Sennheiser. They also do a really good job of blocking out external noise. However, don't confuse that with noise-canceling headphones. There's a big difference!!

The only issue I have with the headphones is the short/long wire setup. This forces one to put your portable media device on the left side of your body. For some reason, I've gotten used to the right side, so this took some getting used to. Other then that, they are great and I would highly recommend.

The only other comment that I have is about the in-ear design. The only time I don't like wearing these is when I'm already in a quiet room. I can hear myself breath through the headphones, which is kind of strange. I wonder if others have the same experience. I much rather use over the ear headphones in those situations. These headphones are great when used in noisy situations, like on a bus/train, or cutting the lawn. Another alternative is to use the noise-canceling headphones.

  4. Earbuds sound great with mp3 player or dvd player. I was pleasantly surprised they sounded so good, very comfortable and sturdy too. Would highly recommend.

  5. I've had these earbuds for over a year and they have held up great. The sound quality is very good. Clear, strong base and excellent treble. I don't mind the "Behind the neck" style cord that others have complained about. I don't use them to run or workout. I find that most in-ear buds are not good for active sports. I would recommend a different specialized headphone for working out with. The Sony earbuds have a faulty cord made out of some very delicate soft rubbber. The cord on these are very durable and after a year look just like thaey did when I bought them.
