  1. These were not comfortable on my head, they were too big and combersome (I am female), but they fit my husband fine and he's who uses them. The sound is great but despite what they were advertised as, they do not keep the sound to themselves. I could hear my husband's tunes when I was sitting next to him. I'm not sure how comforatble they'd be for using long periods of time, they hook on your ears. But honestly, I'm not that impressed with them. A good buy, I guess, if you have a large head.

  1. At the outset I should be clear that I use these headphones for really listening to sound, not just for ambient music, so I tend to be fairly critical of my equipment. I work a lot with bird songs and use these headphones both in the field and back in the office. The sound quality is absolutely superb and allows me to tell precisely when the song of the bird I am recording is "burning out" or becoming distorted. This is often not possible with other headphones as the speakers themselves introduce some distortion - not so the Sennheisers! Back in the office I need all the precision and sensitivity I can get when analysing recorded bird vocalisations and these are once again the headphones I rely on - and so far they have proven perfect. And at the end of the day I can slip on these headphones and listen to my favourite music in prefect reproduction. Often standard headphones are not up to reproducing the wide dynamic and frequency range of classical music, but these do a sterling job.

Any disadvantages? The electric cord is pretty annoying and could be improved. I have had to replace it once due to worn contacts. The headphones are not very physically robust and I expect them to give out soon, though I have had them in the field come rain or shine for eight years now.

  2. To keep this brief, I am a new user to closed headphones.

In the past I used in-ear phones like the Sony MDR-EX71.

First of all these headphones are really good. The sound is excellent and the best feature is it's ability to minimize background noise.

When I brought these headphones I thought they would be perfect; good sound quality and noise cancellation.

However in the end, I was slightly disappointed with the former.

The sound isolation works a treat - no problem there.

However, it's the sound quality (in terms of crispness/sharpness, richness) that disappointed me.

Now I have to say, this observation is in respect to the Sony in-ear phones, which provide better clarity.

Those two headphones are quite interesting to compare.

The Sony MDR-EX71 are crisp and sharp in sound but can lack in decent sound isolation. Whereas the HD-25SP's are great on sound isolation but lack in it's crisp sound.

These are only my observations and I am comparing two different types of headphones here.

But I hope someone interested in changing from in-ear from close headphones may find this interesting.

  3. The passive noise canceling is better than any active noise canceling I have ever used. The frequency range is awesome. The sound is crisp and pure.

If you can have only one pair of headphones, this should be it. I've replaced both the ear pads and the wire cable, not because they don't work or are cheap, but because I have used the heck out of 'em.

  1. I'm happy with the sound quality of these and they fit nice and flat against my ear but the material ....the rubbery stuff...that goes in my ear irritates my skin when I wear them for any length of time.

  2. While the price may have been a clue, the sound quality has been poor. Sounds muddy and muffled. No seperation or crispness. I tried the different options included in the packaging to get a good fit to reduce exterior noise. Any degree of effectiveness has been from pressing them to an uncomfortable degree into my ear canal. I do not recommend them at any price.

  3. The earbuds that come with iPod and many MP3 players often are too big to fit in my ears comfortably. These iRhythms fit into the ears like ear plugs and deliver an excellent quality sound without the discomfort of the standard size ear phones. Over and around the head ear phones are often too big for daily use and the standard earbuds are uncomfortable. I give this product 5 stars for, comfort and 4 stars for audio quality.

  4. These headphones, in my opinion, were great. They produced a great sound (although I'm no audiophile) and they lasted for awhile... The only flaw is the replaceable white buds simply come off to easily. Otherwise, they sound great, and are quite durable. If your careful and can keep the buds on the headphones, then these should work out for you.

In addition, the company was not bad either. My very first pair, which I bought probably more than 8 months ago, lost hearing in one ear. The company sent me a brand new pair, and I was more careful with the second pair, and that lasted me about 5 months, before I lost my buds...

Overall, a good buy for $20, and I think that they are only selling for 10 right now... you get what you pay for, and for ten dollars, your probably getting a little bit more than you deserve.

  5. The iRythyms ear buds are the best ive ever used. I use them with my MP3 player at night when im in bed and they are comfortable to wear when laying on my side.

  1. I like the sound quality of the headphones sometimes. I find that they only sound great when they are in my ears just right. I do not like the way that each of the earbuds are different lengths it makes listening with the headphones uncomfortable

  1. These buds are definitely a step up from the standard iPod buds. They stay in your ears much more easily (without the foam black covers, which are easily lost), the sound is at least marginally better, and the overall construction seems to be better. You can't do much better for the money.

However, if you're willing to spend a little more, the JLab JBuds are the way to go. I own both the Gumys and the JBuds, and the Gumys are my workout pair, and I use the JBuds for everything else.

But if you're looking to spend as little as possible yet still upgrade from the iPod buds, the Gumys are the way to go.

  2. I am satisfied with my new headphones. They're are very convenient in the workplace as well as my iPOD. Nice clear sound and nice length on with the connection wire.

  3. If you are looking for a good pair of earphones and don't want to pay alot of money, I highly recommend these. I bought these for an MP3 player, mostly to listen to audio books, but some music as well. They perform quite well (better than iPod earphones I think) with good sound quality. Power is more than sufficient (I have to turn the volume almost all the way down so that its not too loud). My only complaint is the comfort. They are reasonably good for about 30min then start to hurt my ears. They fit relatively snugly, but do not block the ear canal, so they do not block out outside noise.

I havent tried the more expensive buds, but when I bought these I didn't want to pay a ton of money for what I was using them for. If you want an inexpensive set that works well, these are great.

  4. Purchased these ear buds for iPod. Regular buds never fit right and I hoped these "gumy" headphones would be soft enough to hold their shape and stay in place. No such luck! Gummy seems NOT to refer to the part where the bud connects with the ear. Sound quality very good, buds just not comfortable enough for me. My man likes them, though.

  5. I bought these after I finally wore out my standard iPod ear buds from working out, traveling, etc. Wow! These have a much fuller range of sound, from fairly low bass to high pitches, and the overall balance feels very "right." I always thought the iPod headphones were too high on the treble, not enough bass, and a little flat in mid-range. These cheap JVC headphones are a real bargain!
