  1. I've been using the Beyerdynamic MMX headset for a couple of months now and find it a serviceable piece of audio hardware. It is very easy to use, and lightweight, as well, so for someone looking for a good beginner's headset, this would work quite nicely.

It is, however, obviously built for home use and not for a studio or classroom. The fact that it is lightweight--a positive attribute for the home gamer, podcaster, or VoIP user--means that in another, more challenging environment (such as a school room), its construction is no longer lightweight, but flimsy.

  2. We have used these headsets for our school. They are just fantastic. They have great sound reproduction and the microphone quality is beyond anything out there in USb headsets.

They work very well in on the mac and windows ( but drivers in leopard do not work yet)

  3. This is not a bad headset but for about the same price, I feel this headset is a better one to get:

Sennheiser PC 166 USB Stereo Multimedia Gaming Headset

both in terms of audio quality as well as mic quality and comfort/build quality.

  1. The earphones that came with my MP3 player wouldn't stay in my ears. This set is great. Three different tips to fit anyone. They fit under my motorcycle helmet and the sound quailty is excellent.

  2. These sound great in both bass and treble. They do a wonderful job of blocking out the background noise. Small enough to use under a helmet. The only gripe I have is with the cord getting tangled.

  1. I've loved Skullcandy earphones for a while and was happy to find they have issued them in a cool purple color. I snapped these up when my last pair got too worn and were starting to break (two years!!!)

The volume control slider on the wire is very convenient, especially if you are listening when in public places and need to quickly turn down the volume to answer questions, etc. These earphones are comfortable even for someone with relatively small ear canals. Most other earphones really hurt my ears.

In my opinion, these earphones are better than Skullcandy's more expensive TiTan earphones, which are twice the cost.

  2. There are not many things that I purchase where I feel compelled to review them, but this is one of those things.

First off, let me say that I purchased these to replace my normal wrap around the back of the head, headphones for the gym. I tried them out for about 15 mins the other day and was impressed. The sound is very nice, and I was suprised at the bass response. I listen mainly to rap, and never thought that it could replicate some of the lower notes. The in-line volume slider is a nice touch and lets them get really loud in your ear. The reason I say in your ear, is that because they are actually pretty quiet at the same volume level when they are out of your ear. It also blocks out sound well, so well it feels like you can hear yourself breathing when no music is on. It feels as though you are in a tunnel or that your ears are about to pop on an airplane.

Now here is the problem, and it is a major one for me. They will not stay in your ears if you are at the gym. I started out doing some cardio, only on an elliptical so you could imagine that I am not bouncing up and down as much as if I were running on a treadmill. They weren't giving me TOO much of a problem at first, coming out after a minute or so, but I assumed that it was because I wasn't putting them in far enough. WRONG! I eventually was putting them in as far as they could possibly go. Once you break a sweat, give it up! A tiny amount of wetness on the silicon type plugs cause them to slip out in a matter of seconds. Sounds great after you dry and put them back in, continue to work out though and the sound slowly fades away as they fall out. It was slightly, and very slightly at that, better during free weight lifting.

    Here is my breakdown of the good and bad;

    PROS
    -look neat
-volume slider makes it easy to change volume without having to access mp3 player
    -sound great for the money

    CONS
-will not stay in your ear

So there you go, more good than bad. Too bad the bad thing terribly outweighs the good. What is the point of having a great looking and sounding headphone if it won't stay in your ear to hear the sound???

Overall I would not recommend this to anyone. There has to be better options that you'll be more satisfied with. If you plan on staying completely still while listening to your music go ahead and pick them up.

  1. I lost my Sony MDR NC5 after having it for 15 months. I found this model on the web with good reviews about it. I thought I would give it a try. Sound quality was not as good as the Sony. But hey, it was cheaper. I could not complain. However, after using it for only 2 months, the plastic wire covering started tearing off at the bottom of both ear pieces, exposing the wire. I have been very careful not to pull the wire because I need the headphone on the noisy bus every weekday. Two more months later it stopped working. I am going back to Sony.

  2. Very comfortable.
The extra band at the top keeps the headphones from shifting around or falling off. My head is small, and I was able to adjust them just right.
Does a great job of cancelling out engine noise. I used them on a 9 hr. flight. Didn't help much with the fussy baby behind me, though.
    Fold up compactly.
If you turn on the noise cancelling feature and just listen, you hear very little hiss (unlike some other brands.)
I really like the volume adjuster so you don't have to mess with your input source.

  3. I compared with the Sony MDR NC5 ($50.). Earhuggers does a much better job at noise canceling. Due to an ear condition (if I'm on a plane too long, my ears start 'ringing'), I must have noise canceling headphones. I travel to Europe twice a year, and these are fairly comfortable even for a 9 hour flight. But more importantly, the noice cancellation is effective enough to protect by ear drums. Over the ear styles would be better, but I haven't found anything for less than $125, in this style. Structurally, they are a bit flimsy. After one year of use a strap broke. However, for the $30 - $40 price, I'm still going to buy another one.

  4. Great value.. do the job they are designed to do. If you're looking for a high-fidelity great sounding pair of headphones these are NOT it... however if you want to hear the movie on a plane or listen to your iPod over the drowning engine noise these are super! Better than the Sony open-ear and the Altec Lansing ones that I had because there is no external pack- battery goes right in the headset.

As for the review below about them breaking, did you not see that they have a "Lifetime Warranty"? I actually broke a pair on a plane and sent them to Earhugger and they were replaced with a new pair. I've gotten my $30 bucks worth several times over and can't be happier!

  5. These headphones are great! They are comfortable for long plane rides (5+ hours). But the best part is the flexible band that goes across the headband. I can never find over the ear headphones to fit me and these fit perfectly-- great for people with smaller heads! They sound great and do a great job of canceling outside noise.

  1. I bought these headphones at a 50% discount, and after using them for a little bit realized why. The headphones themselves work pretty well even though they are not very compact. Despite this, I still used them with my I-Pod because I liked the sound quality. After 2-3 weeks the headphones had already stopped working entirely. If you want headphones that will last for any period of time, skip these.

  2. The noise canceling is like non existent. Much better noise cancelling with over ear headphones I have. Bought these to use bicycling with public transportation. I will continue to lug around the over ear headphones to use on public transportation. Don't waste your $ like I did.

  3. The reviews indicate that the Sony noise-cancelling earbuds are the best you can buy for the price, and I wholeheartedly concur. They work well with my iPod and iPhone (a Belkin adaptor/connector is needed for the iPhone), and I love using them on the plane. They do a great job cancelling noise on the plane, and I even use them as earplugs to help me sleep on long flights. The battery is long-lasting (AAA), and the cloth carrying case makes them easy to store anywhere. I've had mine over four years now, and they're still doing great. I'm just now going in to buy a set for my friend.

  4. Not a favorite. I've gone back to the over-ear unit I was using prior to this purchase.

  5. i would recomend this company to everyone, the product was exactly as described....but my son decided he didnt want them, returning them was a piece of cake.they refunded my money, no questions asked.i would and will shop with them again

  1. These have been nice headphones until recently...because of there simple and light design, they broke on me (the left speaker was crushed). Just to make sure (because they are pointless now) i tested the strength on the other speaker, and it gave way easily...Don't EVER put these in an bag, which is anoying because i use headphones a lot and put them in a bag (backpack) when i'm done.

As for when I did have the phones, the treble was extreme and crisp, but for the bass i had to turn it up on the equalizer in my Sony Walkman, to hear any bass.

  2. As other reviews have said, the bass sucks, but my biggest issue is that they are not adjustable for size, and they keep slipping off my ears because of the flexible nature of the design; especially when I'm on the treadmill, I can't keep them over my ears.

I still own my old pair of Sony over-the-ear headphones, and I thought the Oyoyos would be a good replacement, but now I have to use the Sonys at the gym and the Oyoyos on the train.

  3. Deccent sound at modest volumes but a mess at higher volumes, particularly the base. What's worse however is the fit, they pop off at any movement and dont block out ambient noise-not very useful at the gym for example. Altec can do better.

  4. I expected more from an Altec Lansing product. I was very disappointed that they were so awkward and uncomfortable on my head. As the other reviews have said, the sound quality is poor and they pop off my head if I try to wear them at the gym. Basically, I tried wearing them for 2 days but ended up returning them (paying for shipping of course) and buying a better made product for the same price.

  5. I generally don't go out of my way to write a review, but I had to look these up just to warn others not to purchase them.

I don't think it matters what size your head is, or what kind of music you listen to, or what activity you're doing while you wear headphones, these aren't for you.

After 30 minutes or so, these things start to hurt. You re-adjust them, they hurt again 10 minutes later. Heaven forbid you should try running, they constantly fall down the back of your neck.

And it's not like I didn't give these a chance. I used them for almost two months (I spent enough money on them I really wanted them to work out!), and they did start to feel more comfortable toward the end, but then they also wouldn't stay on my head at all because they had lost a lot of the 'spring' that was causing the discomfort when they were new.

The only redeeming quality is the case which is genuinely well engineered. It is so well made that the OYOYO case now holds my new pair of Philips over-the-ear headphones.

If you do decide to buy these, don't say you weren't warned.
