  1. This works great. I found a bags-worth of rusty nails and a penny in my backyard! Woo-Hoo!

  2. I bought two detector's one for me and one for my dad last father's day. The detectors are still going strong and they are used almost everyday over the summer. For being so reasonable they get the job done well =)

  1. I purchased these headphones to use with my portable mp3 player. Technically, I purchased the HP-700 model which does not fold, but I assume they are similar.

Right on the packaging, it says "Gold plated mini-plug" yet the plug is NOT gold-plated at all, it is in fact a standard nickel-plated mini plug. The sound is incredibly tinny and even with the volume control is lower volume than my Sony headphones without the volume control. In addition, the plug does not create a tight fit with the player, so that as you move on a cardio machine, it slides around and causes static and lack of sound in the headphones.

This is the second pair of Maxell headphones I have had trouble with in the past 6 months. I have learned my lesson. NO MORE MAXELL!

  1. I have tried almost a half dozen different ear buds and these have, by far, the best sound quality in the price range. I would recommend them highly.

  2. tinny, no bass whatsoever, they just sound bad. they are also uncomfortable because of the way they are shaped and don't fit well.

  3. The price was quite low, so I didn't have very good expectations for these in-the-ear earbud headphones. However, I was quite surprised at the quality of them. One thing I was looking for was a good appearance. I was very happy with the look of these. They don't look cheap like my previous headphones, but very sleek sharp and expensive. All of my friends are impressed with them. Unlike my previous headphones, these don't hurt my ears or fall out as easily as my previous ones. There are a couple of bad things about these headphones such as : They do ocassionally fall out and it is difficult to get the earbuds and plug in thingy to fit in the "case" type thing. I DO reccomend these headphones and I hope this helps you guys!

  4. I am not an expert so to me these headphones are ok, excellent sound, no problem with them at all.

  5. I've had these for about 6 months and the left earphone just gave out. Maybe I was just unlucky, but that is unacceptably short life-span for earphones like this.

The phones are also a little too big for my ears; actually they are a bit larger than the standard iPod phones so if you think those are too big, stay away from these.

Besides, the sounds on these is really quite mediocre. It's not terrible, but there's very little bass and poor mid-range definition. Again, the only other earphones I've owned recently are the standard iPod phones, and those have a much better sound that this one.

I'm looking to replace these now that they've given out, and I'm certainly going to buy something different this time.

  1. A pretty good headphone for the price. It does "float" around the ears and the frame of the headphone does rub against the back of my neck - causing a bit of discomfort from time to time while I am sitting down. Overall, I am pleased with the the value - if I wanted to $100 headphone quality, I would not buy this one but this works just fine for gym, office, and general usage (and I will not go heart-broken if I lost/broke this headphone).

  2. I love these headphones. I two pair now. One I use for my computer, one I use for mu iPod. They sound excellent. The weight is very light. These headphones don't hurt my ears after wearing them for hours. Others start to pinch my ears and make my ears red after 30 minutes or so. Best headphones I've bought in a long time. I go through about 3 pair of headphones a year. I currently have 14 pair that do not work, mostly all Sonys. If I was to buy again, I would buy these without a doubt. If I could not find these, I would probably by KOSS.

  3. I bought these headphones to replace my broken KSC-75's, and my ears weren't prepared. The second I put these on, I was blown away. In my opinion, these are better than the KSC-75's, the highly praised $15 headphones made by Koss. The SHS391's have a much fuller bass, probably because of the headband. The mids and highs are very comparable to the KSC-75's, but probably not as open.

These are very comfortable headphones. I can barely feel them when they're on my head, other than when the band rubs against my neck. Very lightweight, but very secure. I haven't worn them running or anything, but I doubt anyone would have trouble with them falling off, unless the person has a small head.

For $9, these can't be beat. I'd take them over my brother's $50 Audio-Technica headphones.

  4. I got these expecting them to be of good quality because they are made by Phillips, but boy was I wrong. I was so happy to receive them; I immediately ripped open the package and put them on my head. As soon as I had put them on, I had to take them off. They were awful! They did not fell right at all. They twist in on your head and are horribly uncomfortable. I have an average size head and didn't ever think this would be a problem. My husband said they were fine, but my kids agreed with me. I got these to replace the ear buds because those won't stay in my ear, but after I got them I went back to my ear buds and returned them as soon as possible. These may be good for men, but I would not recommend them for women or children.

  5. buyer beware, i know. and i read the reviews before i bought these and thought, can't be that bad right? well i'm afraid it is.

i just can't use them. they give me a headache because they pinch, just as one reviewer said, right in front of the ears, just below your temples. it's like getting a sinus headache right around where you eardrums are. and i have an average head.

philips seems to have gotten two things wrong. first the U of the band is too long, you are stuck with either forcing it into your neck or letting it ride up your ears. second, they curved the earpieces in too much, so instead of a nice U-shape, you have a C-shape with the brunt of the clasping force pinching into your temporal bone. whoever designed it must have had a very long thin head and was lying down!

not to mention, these really are ugly, not sleek and flat as you might expect from the picture they give me. if they sat right, they might look fine, but sitting rather uncomfortably on top of my ears, they really look terrible, like an explosion of white plastic under my hair.

if you already bought it and it doesn't fit you, the only consolation is that the plastic is pliable, so if you sit on it for a couple hours, that might just flatten it out a bit to be useable.. i'm very disappointed..
