4 comments about Philips SBCH P430 - Headphones ( ear-cup ) ( HP430 ).
- I bought these headphones after returning a pair of Sony MDR-V300's that were painfully tight on my head. These HP430's are looser-too loose, really. They are also "behind the ear" headphones, so if you are in an area affected by gravity, i.e. Earth, you may be constantly pulling these back onto your head after they slip.
Aside from the poor fit, they are wonderful headphones. They sound crisp and clear, even at high volumes, and have accuratre bass response. Unlike many headphones, they also have a shorter cord, at approx. 5-6ft., with another extension cord of equal length included. For $25, they are an excellent, but imperfect, set of headphones.
- I bought these initially because I needed some decent headphones, fast at Best Buy, but they've become my favorite pair I've ever owned.
I bought them for my job as a college radio station DJ. They seemed like the best value and they really are. At work, the extra length of cord is helpful and the 1/4" hookup is fine. They don't block all noise, which is nice so I can actually hear myself talking.
The volume control has proved pretty much useless but I'm sure some people will find it nice. The difference in sound from the lowest to highest setting on the phones is not too large.
I've had the best experience with these on my computer. They are fine with the iPod, too, but are phenomenal with my MacBook. They really enrich the sound quality and I hear new levels of many of my favorite songs with them. I've tried them on classical, rock, electronica, metal, punk, and more and they've never let me down.
The fit is very comfortable, but gets annoying after an hour or so. I have a fairly large head for a girl and wear glasses most of the time though, so that probably has to do with it.
Overall, as a DJ, musician, and general audio freak these are well worth the list price, are compact, and respond better than expected.
- I was looking for the right headphones to replace the torturous ear buds that came with my new iPod. I really looked long and hard for a good pair of headphones...I use mine constantly to drown out noisy colleagues and to generally escape in to my own little world, so they had to be 1) portable, as to be carried in my purse 2) comfortable, as to be worn for hours on end, and 3)able to drown out all the noise around me. They are super comfy and are quite powerful---even my husband was impressed! Less expensive than the Bose ones you know that you want (but refuse to pay for), and in my opinion, they are a total Bose quality contender.
- As an earlier purchaser said, I had purchased these to replace the obnoxious uncomfortable ear buds that came with my Zen mp3 player. I work behind a computer all day as a computer drafter, so I am basically stationary 8 hours a day.
When I first plugged these in I noticed that the signal was clear, but extremely weak. I had to turn it way up. The volume control goes up to 25 on my Zen, and in order for me to get it to a reasonable listening level I would have to go to 20, where the ear buds were at a comfortable level at about 10. Although, with these tight to your head, there is virtually no sound leak to disrupt fellow workers and they are comfortable.
The construction of these as far as durability goes is pathetic. I had them four about 4 hours at my desk, when I took them off and noticed a hairline crack above the left ear. I just figured it came like that and I just hadn't noticed it, and me being who I am and never saving reciepts was stuck with them regardless. Well low and behold, 2 days later I took them off my head and the right ear piece fell right out of the head strap.
SNAPPED off.
Now I don't have a large head by any means, and as I said, I do very little moving while I wear them, so I am absolutely flabbergasted at how poorly constructed these things are.
Unfotunately I purchased these at Target ($35.00), and like I said, threw away the reciept. If I had just waited and purchased them at Amazon, I would be able to return them.
Oh well....lesson learned

5 comments about CreativeLabs Digital Wireless Headphones ( 70BX000007148 ).
- I got a set as a gift. Sound quality is OK, but as an occassional user, I find that the bluetooth connectivity is hit/miss. I have to also agree with other poster comments about the low battery life; I typically seem to have to replace the transmitter battery each time that I want to use the headphones.
Lately I have also had a problem with the left channel in the headphones seems to have gone out, so I will likely need to get a warranty replacement.
- First the good news, the Bluetooth rocks - crystal clear sound (within about 10ft, maybe 15-20ft max without *any* obstructions which is completely normal for the BT1.1 spec). My other wireless headphone experience is with the 900MHz variety, and they were staticky and lame compared to these.
Now the bad news:
Ergonomics - definitely not the most comfortable headphones. I have to wear them rotated towards the back of my head (the ear muffs dont flex into a comfortable position for me, but maybe they would fit if I had a much bigger head). You definitely cant workout with these - too bulky, they dont fit right, and they arent comfortable if you cinch them to your head with a bandana or headband.
Battery life - I burn through the transmitter battery about an hour faster (2-3hrs) than the headphones (3-4hrs). If you purchase, get some AAA rechargable batteries too.
One final recommendation, pick up a 20ft 1/8" stereo M/F extension cord online or at Radio Shack so you can extend the range.
- I have to say that shopping for the "perfect" set of headphones has definetly been a test of my patience and objectivity. I bought these as a companion to my Creative Zen Vision M, which I love by the way. The headphones do work as advertised, they sound pretty good, the fit is average and not having to be tangled in wires is "sweet". The whole reason I went on a search for these phones in the first place. After about a month I finally gave in and returned them to continue looking for something better.
The battery life is really poor and as several reviewers pointed out, they are almost impossible to get them to feel comfortable on your haed unless you hold your head perfectly still and just listen. They seem a little top heavy and they just didn't feel secure, like any moment they would just fall off and on several occassions they did just that. I had no problems with the connectivity or any real complaints about the sound quality, I just didn't feel comfortable wearing them so my final thought was, " what's the point if they don't feel right". I have a pair of Sennheiser px100's that get great reviews and I am not crazy about them either mainly because I always get tangled up in the wires so I guess finding the right headphones is a crap shoot and a process of elimination.
If you are the type that can put the headphones on your head and not move much, you may enjoy these, the sound quality is good to my casual ears but they really don't give you the feeling they will stay on your head if you move around much, no matter how I adjusted them, it just wasn't worth the stress. I apologize for the disjointed review but I hope this helps someone thinking of buying these; if you had a way to audition them for a few days that would be my best advice, Creative is a good company and I love their mp3 players, the headphones do rate well as far as build quality goes.
- I got this for my husband so that either he could listen to his C&W without bothering me or I could watch TV without bothering him. As long as you are in the same room with the bluetooth sender, it's OK. As soon as you try to walk to another room, upstairs, or, Heaven forfend, out to the patio, you can forget it unless you are willing to find exactly the right spot and hold your head at just this angle and are near a doorway (or window if outside). I've not a clue why this is so. I know that my PDA will link to my PC via bluetooth pretty much anywhere in the house. To me that means that the problem is not bluetooth and my walls but the headsets.
- I'll get right down to it:
-- Battery life is horrendous. Buy a good charger (La Crosse BC-900), and 8 Duracell 1000 mAH batteries to fuel thing thing or you'll go broke, fast;
-- I've found the headphones very comfortable with good sound but will not stay on if you jog;
-- Bluetooth pairing is sometimes a pain but the range is typical for bluetooth devices;
Overall, if you get the rechargeable setup above they're the best I've found. All 900 MHz headphones I've tried are useless unless you want to listen to your neighbor's phone conversations. Go with these.

- Seeing as how the package contained NO information at all really & any usual internet search (Atleast as of a few days ago) was all foreign based & no real information.
These will work without the 2x Batteries however they won't have their special bass & Vibration etc... - Was wondering for a few days where the batteries would go. Was a little weary about pulling on the Ear pieces (Only possible battery spots) - You have to give the Left Ear piece (Same side as the Volume control & On/Off switch) a bit of a Twist & then it'll come right off. Insert the 2x AAA batteries & Enjoy!
- No specifications come along with this product. Had it not been for the first reviewer (Barrad), I wud not have been able to find where the batteries go. Sound quality is extremely bad. It is like the music has been muffed. Sound from my $5 unbranded earphones is much better than this one. Bought it online, returning will be a hassle again. Should always experience such things at a store and then buy.

2 comments about Wireless Ir Headphone.
- I ordered this product from Amazon, I thought, but it was actually antonline.
First of all, the product has no resemblance to the product photo, other than it was apparently modeled roughly on human anatomy.
Secondly, the product is sold without a transmitter, which is fine if you happen to have a drawer full of Ir transmitters in your kitchen. That would have been nice to know in the product description since the only thing in my kitchen is half a box of Kix and mummified ketchup. No Ir transmitters though.
Thirdly, antonline will jack you for a 15% restocking fee plus shipping, so I got hosed for $10.27 for nasty headphones that A) don't work, and B) are so ugly that your Aunt Bunny wouldn't be caught dead wearing them.
My advice for this type of product is to shop around locally. I found the best prices at Radio Shack.
- I have a PYLE DVD player installed in my truck and thought the PYLD headphones would work just fine. I contacted PYLE and they recommened these headphones.
These headphone did not work as expected. The audio quality was poor and the IR was subpar at best.
I would not recommend these for anyone.

- these head phones give off good sound, but they're not durable, i've brought two pairs of these headphones the first pair, the right ear stopped working, and the 2nd pair was same model, but the prong piece was different, it was a very stupid design, but anyway, that part had wires that was easily exposed, so they got damaged quick. Other than that, they sounded good, and they lasted for a good while
- COMFORT:
When I first put on the headphones, I noticed that the ear cushions were too small to seal over my ears (I have normal size ears). The inside diameter of the ear cushions are too small (about 2 inches), and they're too thin, so that my ear presses against the inside of the headphones. Part of my ear rested on the outside ear cushion and the other rested against the hard plastic behind a thin cloth pad on the inside of the headphones. I couldn't wear these more than a few hours without my ears getting sore. These are uncomfortable headphones.
SOUND QUALITY:
Lacking in bass volume, and a bright spot in the treble. Other than that, they sound very clear.
TREBLE:
When first playing some music that I know the sound of very well, I noticed that the treble was very clear, except for some brightness. After testing it on my computer with a frequency generator, I found the sound to be pretty much completely flat, except for a bright spot around 2.5kHz. This was caused by the natural resonance of the drivers. This was the only bad spot in the treble. There was no noticeable resonance at 7kHz, the natural resonance of the length of the ear canal. These would be the clearest sounding headphones if the bright spot at 2.5kHz is equalized out, just a simple resonance of the drivers is all it is, simple to equalize.
BASS:
The bass was there, all the way to 30Hz, even 20Hz. The bass was pretty much flat, but not loud enough. If tested by frequency response, the bass would measure the same volume as the treble, but not sound good to the ear. These headphones could use a little bit of a bass boost. When the headphones are pressed to the ears, the bass gets a bit louder like you'd want it to sound, but since the cushions don't completely seal over the ears, the bass is lacking. I even took some big ear cushions from a different pair of closed-ear headphones and put them on these, making an air-tight seal, but even that didn't make the bass sound any better, and it even made the treble sound worse, so I took them off. The size and design of the ear cushions is just not right. These headphones don't have any bass ports on the inside, that's why they lack bass volume.
OTHER:
Every time I put these headphones on, one side sounded different than the other. This was confirmed be switching sides, it wasn't because of the music. Must have been a manufacturing flaw. The advertised sensitivity is stated as 115dB@1kHz. When I compared the relative volume to other headphones which had a 102dB sensitivity, the sounded about the same, they didn't sound like they had a 115dB sensitivity. These don't block outside noise well at all. The power rating for these headphones is not stated on the package but the drivers being 50mm (2 inches) they should be able to handle at least 1000mW.
OVERALL RATING:
+3 for the clear flat sound,
-1 because they're uncomfortable,
-1 because of the bright spot in the treble, and
-1 for the lack of bass.
The good: Mostly flat frequency response. Crystal clear detailed treble.
The bad: Uncomfortable fit, bright spot in the treble, lack of bass volume.
Not recommended for professionals. Maybe ok for anyone else.
These headphones are not so bad that they're unusable, they just don't work good as professional headphones (unless you equalize them).
I don't recommend these headphones to anyone, unless you equalize them, then they'll be the clearest headphones you ever heard. Equalize the treble and the bass.
- Bought and used these for a little while until the device where the power cord connects into your cd player/ipod etc came apart. Very poor wiring and not made to last. It has a little plastic cover over the the connection device and came apart very quickly with just a little jostling.
