  1. I only bought these because they were the only ones I could find that were both behind-the-head and bud style. The sound quality is horrible. Don't bother.

  2. This is not bad..but spend a little more and buy a better one.

  3. These headphones are terrible. They are uncomfortable to wear, they sound awful, and my pair died within 2 weeks of purchase. DO NOT BUY

  4. I've actually never reviewed a product but these were so frustratingly crappy that I though saving someone else the dissappointment might be therapeutic. My Sony's wore out after like 4 or 5 years so my husband got me this 3 pack for listening at work. The sound quality leaves more to be desired (& I'm nowhere close to a tech/audio snob).

Every pair was crap within 2 weeks of use-- the sound would cut in & out. I would be at work jiggling the cord and tilting my head inadvertently trying to get sound to both headphones. How ridiculous is that... I've never paid for something & had it fall so short of the basic functionality it should be delivering.

    Don't waste your money.

  5. It gives you 3 headphones for the price. What's there to complain about.

  1. I HAVE BOUGHT THESE EAR BUDS ON 3 DIFFERANT OCCASIONS...FOR MYSELF, MY BOYFRIEND AND MY NEICE. THEY ARE VERY GOOD QUALITY & 2 SETS WITH A CASE FOR UNDER $10 IS THE BARGAIN OF THE YEAR. THE ONLY THING, MY NEICE IS 12 YEARS OLD AND FOUND THEM A LITTLE TOO BIG FOR HER EARS. THEY DON'T STAY IN HER EAR. BUT SOMEONE WILL BE ABLE TO USE THEM WITH ALL THE PORTABLE DVD PLAYERS & IPODS IN OUR HOME, THEY WON'T GO TO WASTE.

  2. You get what you pay for. The quality of the sound seems fine, but I cannot get them loud enough to really test them. I bought these for my 2 small children, so that they could listen to their dvd on car trips. They seem to like them ok, although the buds are a little big. But when I tried to listen to music with them, I could barely hear.

  3. Only good thing on these is the price for two. Too big for your ears and sound quality is bad. You get what you pay for.

  4. The sound quality from these headphones are outstanding, but the foam covers easily fall off upon using. Not bad for the price and sound great.

  5. Two earbuds for $8. Tell you anything???????

These headphones are a piece of garbage. A waste at even $4 a piece.

The sound quality is terrible. They fit largely in the ears. But the worst part is that the foam covers fall off every two seconds.

I have warn these things twice and already see me buying a better pair in days. Don't waste your money....I swear the people giving this a good review must work for Koss.

  1. This is such an impressive little headphones I've tried. I use AKG K701 headphones at home (with amp) and I love its accurate and CLEAN sound with a large sound stage! I was looking for headphones that would sort of give similar sound color like my K701 for outdoor use. Not too expensive, not too bulky but something nice and simple. I also have a pair of Grado SR 60 which is truly a great headphones but it was a bit too open for outdoor use for me. I've heard so much nice things about Beyerdynamic DT 231 and found that they came out with a new model DT 235 in better colors! Some people might not like its design but in my opinion, it is well designed for practical reasons. VERY comfortable (most comfortable headphones I have ever tried), light weight, reasonable(?) noise blocking though you will still be hearing some outside noise. Sound is without a doubt, VERY impressive. I'd say overall DT 235 has VERY clean, accurate sound with none exaggerated bass response. In fact, this might not be the best choice for base lover but for me, it is just about right! Since this can has sweet clean sound, I found it is very suitable with classical music especially piano music! Sure it has smaller sound stage than my K701 but considering its small can size, it is quiet amazing! It has less "front row" sound compare to Grado SR 60 which I like it better for more like the first tier sounds?! DT 235 is certainly a great choice under $80 budget! Strongly recommended!

  2. I very much like the earphones.

My biggest compliant is the heavy wiring that connects the earphone to my iPod. Was it really necessary to use such heavy wire? The cord is very hard to wrap up because it is so stiff.

  1. Purchased this remanufactured set of headphones after a colleague had shown me his on a trip. When they arrived, I was stunned. There is no way to tell that these were not BRAND NEW. Impressive. Used them for the first time on a trip to Brazil, and they performed just as expected. Their compact size with the belt carrying case makes them even more enjoyable. I also use them with my cell phone music player (you have to get an adapter for the cell phone, as the standard plug is too large) - WOW! Now, they may not block quite as much as over-the-ear headphones, but they also cost me about eighty percent LESS than those one-high-price-fits-all-because-that-is-our-policy brands. Sennheiser's reputation for quality is well-deserved; I am very pleased. My friend who introduced me to them was blown away when I told him what I paid for my "remanufactured" ones (less than HALF of what he paid). A great set of headphones for a super price...life is good!

  2. I would reccommend this product, I was concerned that buying a remaunfactured product would cause problems, or the product would be worn, however the product came in excellent condition - impossible to tell that it wasn't a new product.

On the product front, the headphones are excellent. I have tried several different noise-cancelling systems provided by the airlines in their premium classes, and these simply blow them away, the ambient noise of the plane's air conditioning system and engines is all but cancelled out, the other great fearure is that these headphones actually produce a surprisingly good quality sound as well as their noise cancelling function.

  3. cheap and just as good as Bose QC! Well worth the price!!! Have had NO problems with remanufactured goods from amazon!

  4. If you just want a nice sounding pair of headphones, buy these, but if you are looking for something to knock down the airplane noise, look elsewhere. They just dont get the job done. Not even close.

  5. It cancels well steady noises like airconditioned equipment but all other random noises, like people talking around, are not cancelled well, it just makes it a bit softer. It makes a considerable hiss, so not very good if you like to listen music at low levels. I bought this item as refurbishied so it was cheap, making it a fair product at the price lever. I would not recommend to buy it as new.

  1. If you see a high rating for these phones , do not believe it.They have absolutely no bass response at all.The tips are hard and don't fit or sit right in your ear. I listen to all kinds of music , but mostly jazz. I expect at least some presence of all the highs and lows in music. These phones do a real good in midrange and treble, but produces no bass at all. I am very disappointed with this product. Also Buy .Com will not give store credit or refund if the package is opened, even if it is defective. The best they will do is replace them. Beware of them as well. I would rather listen to my ol' trusty Spark Plugs. Believe me,I know what to expect out of them.If you buy them , remember I told you not to.

  1. I was looking forward to these, as traditional earbuds fall out of my ears with the slightest jostle or bump. I couldn't figure out how something this big is supposed to fit into a space the size of an ear opening. They are 1"x3/4" big. I passed this around at work and nobody else could figure out how to make them fit, either.

Maybe that's why the only picture of them actually IN an ear is a drawn one.

  2. These earbuds had pretty decent sound but I had two big problems with them.
1/ They didn't fit quite right. Especially my left ear was irritated by these buds.
2/The padding wore out quite quickly around the edges leaving a hard plastic to irritate my ears.

  3. I have average size ears and these fit just fine. They also stay put. Can't say much about wear and tear because I just got them recently. I don't know how you can wear out the foam that quickly unless you are constantly forcing these too hard into your ear.

The sound quality is also very good.

  4. Some people collect figurines or autographs, I collect headphones. I'm not really an audiophile, so to be honest, most headphones sound pretty good to me. They do not all, however, fit well, and fit is where these Altec Lansing headphones excel, in my view.

I primarily use my 'phones when I'm working out, and I tend to sweat quite a bit. I've had Bose in-ear phones that popped out and got all staticky when they got wet (otherwise, they sounded great, though). Ditto on the popping out for my Koss memory foam ones and also for my Philips.

These Altec Lansings, on the other hand, stay completely put when I wear them working out. I don't even feel them in there. I can see why people THINK they don't fit, though, because at first it doesn't feel natural or secure at all. It feels as though they will pop out at any second, but in reality, they conform to the contours of your outer ear and they stay there.

They are very light and, as I said, I'm no audiophile, but I think they sound pretty good. And for the price, they sound and feel great.

  1. I've been using the Beyerdynamic MMX headset for a couple of months now and find it a serviceable piece of audio hardware. It is very easy to use, and lightweight, as well, so for someone looking for a good beginner's headset, this would work quite nicely.

It is, however, obviously built for home use and not for a studio or classroom. The fact that it is lightweight--a positive attribute for the home gamer, podcaster, or VoIP user--means that in another, more challenging environment (such as a school room), its construction is no longer lightweight, but flimsy.

  2. We have used these headsets for our school. They are just fantastic. They have great sound reproduction and the microphone quality is beyond anything out there in USb headsets.

They work very well in on the mac and windows ( but drivers in leopard do not work yet)

  3. This is not a bad headset but for about the same price, I feel this headset is a better one to get:

Sennheiser PC 166 USB Stereo Multimedia Gaming Headset

both in terms of audio quality as well as mic quality and comfort/build quality.

  1. My Bose headphones fell apart at the headband-phones joint, and I didn't feel like parting with another $300, so I picked up the Sonys. They are a little more sturdy, shouldn't break apart in the same way. The noise cancellation works fine, and the noise reduction even when they are off is good (I do follow the FAA rule of turning off all electronics for take-off and landing). The only downside I have noticed is that if you press on the outside of the headphones you get a pretty annoying feedback. It startled me awake the first time it happened. Not a perfect solution, but still great headphones.

  2. I was looking into the Bose noise canceling headphones, willing to pay the big bucks, but read some reviews of these and decided to take a chance and ordered them, I am very happy with the purchase. The noise canceling works great and they are very comfortable. I can't say how they rate next to the Bose, because I was not able to compare, but for the price I am very pleased with my purchase.

  3. I bought a pair of these in FEB'06 for almost $200. For that price you would think they would last more than 2 years, especially when they've only been used about 20 times. Nope last few flights, I get this constant annoying, almost deafening, high pitch blaring with the noise cancelling feature on. It stops briefly when I tap on the ear piece then returns. I even tried new batteries to no improvement.
I called Sony customer care to see if they could exchange them with a refurbished product. Nope, rep told me the warranty was only 3 months! For $200!! WAY TO STAND BEHIND YOUR PRODUCT SONY!
I'm suppose to call Customer relations on Monday-I think I know where that's going.
I won't be buying Sony again unless they replace these. Read all the reviews before you buy, alot of people have had the same issue with this model and the newer NC60.
You're suppose to get what you pay for, not with this brand. Designed by Sony but made in China, cheap labor belting out cheap product, hence the 3 month warranty.
Feel free to email me for an update, [...]
    Thanks for reading!!!!

  4. My husband loves these. He says they are as good as those other more expensive ones.

  5. I just got back from another quiet flight thanks to the Sony noise canceling headphones and my iPod. The sound quality was terrific! It blocks external noise so well that I accidently aggravated a flight attendant because I didn't even hear his beverage offer. The downside is bulkiness which only bothers me slightly for sleeping and is more inconvenient due to the precious carry-on space it consumes.
Its really important to put them on the right way because the ear pieces are slanted making them smash ears when wrong but comfortable when correct. I also found I need to remember to turn them off after use to save battery life which I just wasn't used to from regular headphones.
All in all, I'm happy with my purchase of these headphones.
