5 comments about Philips HS520 Reflective Neckband Headphone.
- I purchased these from another retailer and later returned them. They do look cool. However, the sound quality is only average, and they are uncomfortable if they don't fit your head just right. I'm about average when it comes to head sizes I guess and I found the neckband to be much too large so that it added no support and my ears did most of the work holding the set on my head. This became very uncomfortable after a short time. Also, the ears pieces did not set well over the ear to maximize what I was hearing. All in all, these headphones are only average and I believe MUCH better quality and comfort (and price) can be found with a pair of KOSS KSC75 headphones. Which I've also reviewed here at Amazon.
- I bought mine at Best Buy for a bit more than what it costs at amazon. They work good with my Ipod and the sound quality is a bit above average. I didnt really have a problem hearing and enjoying what i was listening. I wish however that the headphones were adjustable to fit at your own comfort level. It fits alright though. I dont run at night or anything so i dont know about the reflective neckband aspect.
- Also its really easy for others to hear what your listening to. While not a major deal, but something to keep in mind. After some time of use whatever material the cord is made of starts to fray and come apart (just a tidbit).
+ Sound, reasonable price and durable.
So if your looking for decent priced headphones then these are good choice. I looked around for a bit for quality headphones for the ipod. Before not really finding anything that i liked. These are good for me for the time being. But i do plan on upgrading in the near future.
- I needed a set of earphones to go with my newly purchased MP3 player. I dont like earbugs and clipons arent comfortable either. I found these at a Rite-Aid drugstore, about the same price as listed here. I really wasnt expecting much, just something that was usable. Impressive! Very comfortable and good sound. I very much enjoyed listening with these and am glad I bought them. There are better 'phones at higher prices but these are well worth what they cost. Recommended.
- These headphones are very comfortable. The cord is great, it's very long and it's not plastic so you can bend it all which ways and it doesn't ruin the sound quality. Very nice headphones.
- i paid 57$.for a pair of headphones.
these are just as good as the more expencive headphones.
i like the earpads that are non removable.as with other headphones.
the pads would come off.then id have to replace the earpads.
i use them with my computer/mp3 player.

5 comments about Canoe Trip: Alone in the Maine Wilderness.
- Canoe Trip by David Curran is an interesting feat of adventure discovered in the Maine wilderness. A one man adventure that is full of surprises along the way. The book shows real life problems that would occur during a canoe trip in the Maine wilderness. These problems would occur only once in a life time, but for this adventurer these problems are common every day problems.
This is an amazing book and would recommend it to anybody who likes adventure stories. The text is so detailed it felt like you were on the trip yourself. This book will give you the most detailed story of life in the maine wilderness.
- The book, Canoe Trip, by David Curren, is a book about one man's quest to brave the wilderness. This is an awesome book for those of you who love the outdoors. if you are one who has been on solo missions or even adventures with your friends and want to gain more info on survival, than pickup a copy of this book. Mr. Curren, who works in a public school, is the type of guy, nobdy would expect to travel to Maine and brave the whitewater rapids of a river.
For those of you who dream of making a name for yourself, but don't quite know what to do, read an adventure book such as this and get inspired. Moose, cold, and an unforgiving river, could not stop this man Don't let skeptisizm stop you. If adventure and excitement are what you're into, read this book, reject fear as he did. It is an excellent piece. For those of you who have read it, you know what I mean.
- This book is great for the type of reader who likes to heat first hand, some stories about traveling through Maine on a Canoo. You'll here about some of the wildlife in Maine (and what will happen when you intimidate them.) You'll even hear about what kind of weather might come your way while you're out in the woods. This story will explain how an inexperienced person will be forced to become experienced through trial and error; because of going through some of the harsh realities of Maine's outdoors.
- The book Canoe Trip by Dave Curran is an adventure book about his trips to the Maine wilderness. He is a psychologist in Massachusetts and loves to take canoes into deep, isolated rivers in northwest Maine. The book gives a very good description about how rugged and wild the woods pf Maine, just about 100 miles north of Boston, can be. It shows how different the woods of Maine are compared to the woods that people are used in more populated states like Massachusetts, and people might be surprised how rugged and wild Maine can be.
The book is more descriptive than exciting, but there are many moments of adventure to enjoy and keep you reading. There isn't a real plot of the book because Curran talks about his many adventures in Maine, and is mainly for people who are fond of the outdoors. There are many close escapes from danger, and the accurate description of the Maine wildlife and deep, dark woods of Maine, is why people should try reading this book.
- Overall the Book Canoe Trip was a very well written detailed book. The book was about David Curran's solo canoeing trip through the back woods of maine. Dr. Curran wrote with great detail in this book. He tells you about great adventures through maine. Many people think he's taking to big of a risk going alone to Maine by himself, yet he proceeds with the trip every year anyway. He even ties in a little bit of humor through out the many interesting events in the story. I recomend this book for anyone who likes a good adventure in the woods, or anyone who likes to get away from civilization, then you'll find many things in common with Dr. Curran and enjoy the book very much so.

- Comfortable and work well. Good sound quality. Much superior to the original iPod ear buds.
- These earbuds like most other sound isolating earbuds I have tried can be annoying to wear if you are moving around a lot. Since the earbuds make a tight seal inside your ear, any movement in the cable will be conducted through to your ears. Therefore, I would not recommend these for wearing during a workout. This is not a fault of these earbuds alone but every pair that I have ever tried, so I will not knock these earbuds on that basis. That being said these are great earbuds, just don't buy them for jogging.
The sensitivity of these buds is much better than my standard iPod earbuds and several other aftermarket earbuds that I have tried (Panasonic, Altec Lansing, Phillips). I have probably tried 5 or so different sets of earbuds in the $20-$40 range over the last few years and after a little break-in time and finding the right size gel pad (3 sizes are included) to fit your ears these easily blow them all away. The bass, midrange and high end are all good. These really shine in the bass and low mids compared to most other earbuds and since they are so sensitive you can keep the volume lower and save battery life on your player. You will hear things that you have never heard before in your music, especially if you are using the standard issue buds.
Since there are 3 different gels to choose from as far as fit, these are also more comfortable for long listening sessions then other earbuds I have tried. They also offer good sound isolation, so these are great for work or in a moving vehicle.
They are light in your ears, light on your battery and light on your wallet while providing excellent sound. Give them a little break-in time and you will love them... I did.

- These ear buds sound great and are fairly comfortable, however, they are designed with a tiny main cord (fine if using an armband case) and an extension cord. The connectors of the main and extension cords are made of metal which makes the weight of the cord very heavy, this limits their use for exercise. For casual listening at home, work, or on a plane they're great, avoid running with them.
