  1. Actually, I take that back; it sounds 1000 times worse than listening through a tin can and string. NO BASS WHATSOEVER. The only thing they have going for them is the look. I have to admit they look pretty sharp, so 1 star for that. Other than that, not worth your money.

  2. As of the time of this writing the only other review here was a 1 star that basically just said that the bass sucks. I'd like to say a little more about it than that.

    I just picked this recently for my iPod Shuffle, which was an Christmas gift, because the earbuds that come with it don't fit my ears right and will pop out unless you stand still or walk very slowly. I got these for activewear (i.e. working out, jogging, doing exercises on an incline, etc.) and they seem to be pretty great for that. The cans are small (1.5" in diameter), which I think is great because you'll eventually forget that they're even there! The open air design makes it ideal for jogging, especially, since you can stay aware of your surroundings.

    This is not meant for quiet surroundings though, of course, since it is open air and some sound will leak out. The white color perfectly matches white iPods! At under $10 it's really a bargain. If you bought these for superior sound quality, then you're clearly an nimrod and that's why you're giving it 1 star ;) This is not for audiophiles, this is for people who need portable, lightweight headphones on-the-go that will STAY on your ears!!

    I previously bought some Sony clip headphones and they were horrible! They wouldn't stay on my ears because they were so heavy and uncomfortable. I find the behind-the-head design ideal for activewear. Plus, they're quite stylish, unlike some of the others which come in standard black and won't look good on most mp3 players or CD players.

    Oh, and the bass really isn't that bad. I played it with a variety of music from my iTunes library, which features much hip hop, and having heard horrid bass before I really wasn't bothered by it. I really think that $10 is a steal for these because they're so small, lightweight, neat-looking, and sound great on-the-go. Plus, the cord is under 4 ft.! I hate jogging with like 8 feet of cord flailing about that are on most headphones out there!

  3. I purchased these because they were cheap and I thought they would have to sound better than the earbuds that came with my player....Wrong! Its hard to believe but these actually sound much worse than the cheapo earbuds, sound is just terrible, you can find a much better headphone for little more than these pieces of junk cost. They are not even worth the 8 bucks.

  4. I just got these phones today for my mp3 player during workouts.
    They work great and stayed in place with a snug fit throughout my workout. The Bass and treble were perfect. So if your looking for headphones for the gym that won't slip off on the treadmill at a great price look no further!

  5. Forget about great sound with these, but it is adequate...the package said something about bass enhancement or such, but forget it. I've had others that had better bass. However, these are the most comfortable phones I've ever used, and I can sometimes almost forget that they are there. They don't produce much pressure on my ears. They are good for exercising, and the behind-the-head design seems most likely to stay on. The color looks good with the Sandisk m240(also good for exercise). The
    cord is a decent enough length, too. For cheap, comfortable headphones for exercise or working out in the yard, these are hard to beat.

  1. The shape is very practical and I comfortably use the headphones at the gym. However, the sound is mediocre, even at the highest volume.

  1. This headset is a great buy. The sound quality is excellent and the microphone is far better than anything I've found in this price range (or even substantially higher). I use this headset for VOIP and always get crisp, clear results. The mic is also terrific about not picking up background noise. I've made phone calls while working out on a treadmill in a small room; this headset's mic doesn't pick up the treadmill noise, just my voice.

  1. I'm a wanna-be audiophile (as in i dig the audio quality but dont want to lose my wallet for it) so decided to ask for the ath-t44's for christmas. opening today i like the sound, good all-around tones but i'm not audiophile enough to pick out deficiencies in highs lows or mediums (have to run some tests later). i love the design and circumaural (around the ear, not on top) setup. the only cons i've noticed is that due to the large earpads i get "headphone hair" after extended periods of use and the cord is long enough but seems thin/weak at the connections. i would definitely reccomend this or if not this then possible some sennheiser studio headphones.

  2. I actually bought this set somewhere else where I had a gift certificate and they seemed the best for the price for what that retailer offered. I currently have a pair of Sennheiser PX 100 to compare to that are totally awesome but they sit on the ear. This pair wraps around your ear and blocks out the sounds around you and keeps the sound in so you get a better directed effect from the speakers. They are pretty snug, yet comfortable. The sound is pretty awesome though I am sure better headphones can be had but from what I have read you will need to drop at least $100 more. There are not many reviews on this set so I took a chance and, so far, on day one, I am happy after a couple hours of continuous use. I have yet to hear any distortion and the highs are crisp and the lows robust. I am listening to iTunes on the laptop and enjoying it. I tuned iTunes Music Enhancer off since it seemed to cause some background hiss. Anyway, good set for the price with good sound and good build quality.

  3. Just a quick summary
    Good points
    * circumaural design, these headphones don't sit on the ears but fit around them making them very comfortable for long periods of listening
    * non boomy bass
    * clear transparent sound
    * 3m cord
    * easily adjustable
    * build quality is very good

    I've owned Grado, Sennheiser headphones in the past. This is my first pair of Audio Technica headphones and I'm impressed.
