  1. I had my backpack stolen and in them were my second pair of Sony MDR-EX51LPs that I got after the left ear died in my first pair. When looking for replacements I decided to try something new and looked around at alot of reviews and these had the best overall reviews from the most sources. Here are my thoughts on these buds.

    Pros
    - Sound quality is pretty good but nothing really noticable above my sonys (from what I remember)
    - Durability, these seem to be built well, had thicker wire than my sonys
    - Different sets of ear pieces

    Cons
    - Around $25 more than the Sonys
    - DO NOT MOVE when wearing these... the feedback from the wire is HORRIBLE. There is no way I could work out in these without going insane
    - Not the most comfortable buds ever... the bigger 11mm speaker makes quite a bit of difference in fit. Also I cant put my head down flat in these buds and still be comfortable.
    - (minor) The jack isnt a right angle jack.

Overall, if the feedback from the wire wasn't sooooo bad these phones would be much better. If that improved and the comfort was a little better these would be 5 stars with ease.

However, the feedback is a major problem and I just might look to try to sell these and get me another pair of Sonys!

  2. Don't buy these headphones...seriously. After a week of proper use and care, The sound in the left ear bud went out. Buy the cheaper skullcandy headphones. They last longer and are nicer to your wallet.

  3. Read a review where these were listed as having the sound qualities of headphones triple in price. The article was correct. These headphones are great for bass reproduction and overall sound quality. Good solid build quality. Great bargain!

  4. I decided to get these ear buds since I saw how great they were rated in an online magazine. I've had Sony ear buds which were noise canceling for about $100 and a pair of Sony's that were regular ear buds that were around $50, both of which had an ear bud stop working after minimal use. So I decided to try these titans and they are amazing. None of the Sony's ever had the range of these ear buds; the bass is awesome. The first pair worked out so well that I decided to get a second pair. There are is one major issue though, you can't really run with them, because the cord transmits a lot of sound when it beats against anything. They are not perfect, but nothing I've ever used before sounds as good as these buds have.

  5. I love these buds... one of the best out there..before i got these,i had a cheap target pair of skullcandy's and after about 6 months they were shot.. not bad for 14 bucks.. but still, and then i got these new titanium's...Ive only had them for about 3 weeks and they came with an awesome carrying case, with foam and rubber ear bud add-on's... i unfortunately lost the plastic ear buds and case and had to use the foam add-on's... there horrible..they hurt your ear.. the push themselves off and they rip instantly if you touch them.. stay with the plastic add-on and you got an awesome pair of skullcandy buds.

  1. Great product! It's slim, light, fits perfectly. If it didn't have a wire, you'd forget it's there. It also sounds great like all Skullcandy products. I'm really happy with my purchase.

  1. I had a set of Noise canceling headphones that broke, and I came across this set. I was weary at first given the low price, but decided to get them anyway.

I was really surprised when I received the headphones, the form factor is great, the AAA battery fits right on to the, not very bulky, headset, and not as an attachment to the Cable as in a lot of other headsets. The carrying pouch was nice as well.

The sound quality is actually very good for the price, although I'd say that the bass can be a bit high at times, though that can be easily fixed with an auto equalizer that can be found in most mp3 players. The Noise canceling works as I have seen in other headsets, and will filter out most but not "all" of surrounding noise.

Overall, I'm VERY happy with the purchase and would definitely recommend it to others.

  2. I just bought these the other day and they are going straight back to the store. The sound quality is good. Noise canceling works somewhat and I can hear better when I turn it on. However, turning on noise canceling seems mostly to just increase the volume. As a test, I turned my TV on in the background at a very low volume. So low that I couldn't distinguish any words but could still hear voices. I could hear those voices even with noise canceling turned on.

I could put up with that, though, since they more than serve my purpose and not too expensive. The reason I am returning these is because they HURT! I am a woman with an average sized head. After only ten to fifteen minutes my ears begin to ache from being squeezed so tightly. I am constantly nudging the headphones to different positions in an attempt to ease the discomfort. But it's just too persistent. I can only imagine how they must feel for a man or somebody with a larger head.

  3. the GOOD: Very confortable...

what's OK: Noise cancellation is decent...

the BAD: Sound quality is not very good. Too much bass and little treble. Little boxy and with no open sound stage...

in SUMMARY: It is OK for the price, where if used on airplanes, you won't loose sleep if it gets damaged or lost. If this happens, my bet is that you would probable purchase this same unit again. Airplanes do not have the best sound quality, so this headphone would be OK...

in RECOMMENDATION: So this is best as a traveling headphone. But if used mainly at home, you will want to try something else. I understand that the higher Creative headphones sound much better (at a much higher price). My best bang for the buck is the Grado SR-60 headphone at $60. No noise cancellation and not sound isolated (open aire style), but one of the most confortable and best sounding headphones around...

  4. I tried to this headset in an office environment and the headphones create more noise than it cancels. When I turn on the noise cancellation, the low frequencies are reduced, but the headset introduces a high pitched white noise that sounds like tv static. Voice frequencies are barely reduced, so I end up hearing people down the hallway better with noise cancellation on.

I've tried Bose's QC2 and I got no static from those headphones.

I would not recommend this headset at all.

  5. Creative HN-605 Noise-Canceling Headphones

I bought a Creative ZEN the other day and I wasn't happy with the earbuds that came with it, so I decided to buy a new set of headphones this morning. I wanted something inexpensive that sounded good (i.e. deep bass and clear highs). The original ZEN earbuds sounded great, but they kept falling out of my ears when I was working out and kept getting caught and yanked out of my ears when I turned, picked up weights, etc. Anyhow, I settled upon the HN-605's. They looked nice, they also folded and it had a decibel rating of 121dB and had the "noise canceling" feature.

I plugged the HN-605's into the ZEN and wasn't immediately pleased by the sound quality - until I turned on the noise-canceling. This NC feature is basically a sound booster, and boost the sound it did. It not only was louder, but was crisper! I liked that. The earpiece rest on top of the ear, but doesn't envelop the ear. I like that, too. Overall, these headphones are comfortable and hug my head and are not overly loud, although, it could be a bit louder - but I believe I'm limited by my MP3 players lack of features (it only goes so loud and doesn't have an equalizer). I will need to test these headphones with my home system and other MP3 players first before I give these headphones a minus for low sound. I give these headphones the highest rating because they exceed my expectations in what I was looking for in a headphone.

    Pros:
    Lightweight
Folds and comes with a bag that I can also put my MP3 player in
    Good price ($29.99)
    Noise canceling feature

    Cons:
None so far in regards to quality of product
At the store, the exact same HN-605 model was marked at $39.95 - right next to the HN-605's that are $29.95!

    Edit -

I just plugged the headphones into the back of my PC and wow, these sound awesome! I only have Windows Media Player's volume at half an it's very loud! I now know for certain that the MP3 player is the weaker of the two. Too bad I can't carry around my PC! Thumbs up on the HN-605! These are the best headphones I bought so far (I've went through at least 5 in the past 2 years trying to find the perfect set. They were always under $20, and were either earbuds, clip around the ear or a combo earbud with a loop over your head to hold them on your head. I was willing to splurge a little more, but didn't want to pay $50 or more just in case there were some headphones with comparable quality for less - in this case I was right.) I highly recommend these headphones.

  1. I was unable to find any useful information anywhere online to help me decide if the Audio Technica ATH-AD500s were anywhere near as good as the highly acclaimed and considerably more expensive ATH-AD700s. The specs (except for impedance) are comparable and these are discounted to within a few dollars of the cheaper ATH-AD300s. So I decided to take a chance. They are extremely comfortable, appear and feel durable, and sound great even with my low-power desktop stereo system. They are very large, open, over-the ear, with velour-covered cups, and they deliver a big, clear, spacious sound without overbearing bass. Plenty loud, I suspect they'd work with a portable, but because of their size you won't want to wear them on any outings.

I'm still breaking them in, but so far I'm extremely pleased!

May your decision be easier than mine was!

  2. From a distance these things have the look of well crafted head phones.
Up close it's easy to see that they are cheaply made.

Bottom line: Way too much high end. Its distracting and sometimes painfull. I've heard sounds more true to reference from headphones that are a third the price. Save up a little more cash, do some research, and get the real deal.

  3. I was expecting a quality product when I ordered these headphones, but I was still surprised and thrilled when I put them on and listened to some of my favorite music. I am now hearing sounds and instruments that before were not as distinguishable. Also, using these headphones while watching movies gives the same surround feeling as in a theater. I'm very impressed and can't believe I got such a good piece of audio equipment for such a reasonable price!

  1. Pairing these headphones can be complicated and inconvenient.
Sound quality is fair, with a constant "hissing" noise in the background.
The headset is fairly lightweight, and not uncomforatble. Although it's not particularly comfortable either. I also don't notice that much benefit from the so called noise reduction feature. If I had to do it again, I would by something else. Sound quality just isn't all that good. Having to charge it using the USB port of the computer is rather inconvenient also.

  1. I bought these because the necklace/lanyard-style headphones that came with my mp3 player (a mobiBLU Cube) were of poor quality and don't work any more. Because it's a very small gadget, it's a bit annoying to have to fumble around in a bag or a pocket to manipulate it. So I wanted to get another pair of necklace headphones, but the Sony ones are really expensive. The price of these is very decent and the sound quality seems good (I'm no great audiophile).

As stated above, these are meant for mp3 players small enough to be worn around the neck, not to listen to your computer or stereo! If you try doing that while wearing them as a necklace, you'll find the short length awkward.

However, if you don't have another pair around and want to plug them into a desktop device, you can unsnap the plastic bit at the back of the neck by pulling, so the /0\ shape becomes a /U\ (imagine the earbuds are at the lower ends of those slashes), which effectively doubles the length from plug to earbuds.

EDIT: by the way, the sound is stronger when I wear them backwards (i.e. left bud in right ear and vice versa). I guess it's just the shape of my earholes specifically. They don't block background noise, which is good when I'm cycling to work but bad when I'm at work trying to listen to music in a fume hood with the fan going.

  2. I fell in love with them and the reasons are:
    - the fits perfectly in my ears
    - they let me use my ipod under my clothes and it's very usefull for me doing sports and taking care from the thieves.
    - it's sounds as I need they sound, fine and clear, without noices and loud enought.
    - finally, I love the color.

  3. I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked these little headphones. They were even better than I expected.
The earbud wires goes straight into a lanyard that goes around your neck and then re-emerges at the bottom next to a string to hold your MP3 player. This was absolutely perfect for my device. It's excellent for working our because normally the wire for headphones were always getting snagged on treadmills or my hands which would yank the earbuds out of mt ears. Not with these! Since the wire goes into the lanyard, the wires comming out of the earbuds go behind your neck and the lanyard protects the wire from damage (which is the main reason I end up buying new earbuds).
The sound quality is very good for earbuds. My only reason for not giving it 5 stars is that the buds themselves are a little big to fit comfortably in my ear.
I definately recommend these to anyone, especially if you're like me and have a tendency to snag the wires.

  1. These are my favorite of all the rubber sleeves I've ever used on my assorted collection of ear canal headsets. They are a bit sticky so once you get them in there they stay in really well; can easily be removed and replaced (unlike the foam ones which are admittedly more comfortable). Here's my trick, on an airplane I put a rubber sleeve on one side and foam on the other ear. The foam one stays in there for the duration, if a stewardess or somebody comes up to me I pop the rubber one out so I can hear and respond (talk about good sound isolation!) and then I pop it back in. Eventually these will get slippery and lose their sticking power; then its time to buy these replacements :)

  2. I bought these before finding the triple flange. These don't fit as well, don't sound isolate as well, and put the hard part of the headphone in your ear which is not as comfortable as the triple flange which only puts soft stuff in your ear.
