  1. Got these because I lost my Shures. The Shures were the sub-$200 ones I picked up a couple years ago. These sounds at least as good if not better. They fit in my ears better and dont fall out. The inline volume control is nice too. Not too tinny, good bass for buds. I enjoy cranking hem!

These are a great value. I recommend them!

  2. these headphones have great sound and bass, but they are are hard to put on and it hurts!!!

  3. Please allow me to start off by saying that I can be very cheap (more on that later). Thank you.

My first experience with the Skullcandy brand was when my 20 year-old son was listening to his iPod in the back seat of my car, and I thought he was ignoring us when Dad and I would ask him a question or otherwise try to engage him in our conversation. We kept having to wave our hands in his face to get his attention, and I was beginning to get worried that he had the volume up too high. He apologized and stated that he didn't mean to ignore us. Then he asked me to try on his Skullcandy and asked me what I thought of the sound quality. Needless to say, I was supremely impressed!

My son said that he spent maybe ten dollars on his set when the music store where he bought it was doing their Christmas clearance. So I was getting ready to head on over to that store when I decided to first check out the Skullcandy web site to do some research on the product, and maybe read some reviews. Well, it was like walking into a cosmetics store for me to see the variety of styles and colors that they had displayed. The prices stunned me a bit at first; I had no idea that they were generally THAT expensive. And of course, these hot pink ones I fell in love with were not in stock. So I stewed over it a few days, tried on my son's earbuds again, and decided that I had to have it at $47.99 (the cheapest price at the time) at some random electronics web site I had never heard of.

PROS: The fabulous color, of course! The sturdy metal casing. The three different sized pairs of interchangable gels to customize a proper fit. The unbelievably clean sound and noise-canceling it provides. Which brings me to my only...

CON(S): Please remind your children to remain aware of their surroundings when using this product. You can block out the world and just revel in the full (I mean, PHENOMENAL AUDITORIUM QUALITY) music experience. But that means that they won't be able to hear anything; from a car driving too closely, to a group of rowdy people hovering nearby. There is, however, an amazing feature which I call an "Almost Mute" switch on the color-coordinated piece where the two individual cords meet from the actual ear buds. Once moved, you can still hear the music, but will allow the listener about 90% of being able to hear his surroundings again. Switch it back to "Almost Deaf" to ignore your annoying buddy.

If you have children who are responsible and in a safe and friendly, well-lit environment, this CON need not apply. Best to be fully aware of their surroundings anyway. Hey, this is a Mom talking.

One last PRO: Great for running. These babies won't fall out of your ears. In fact (and this was my deciding factor for writing this review), my husband gave up on his own iPod earbuds and the assortment of black and gray ones which belong our children---ten sets total in our house---and asked me to borrow my Skullcandy when he ran his PFA with his Navy unit last week. Yes, this hot pink, girly, totally effeminate one. Why? He didn't need to worry about anything falling off his ears while he was being timed on his run. This doesn't shift around at all with movement. This doesn't cause pain inside your ear. It's impossible to push too far in, and never pops out.

All in all, this product is a great innovation. I've given up on the cheap brands and all of the after-market earbuds. And when I get a complimentary set with a new audio or video gadget, I just offer it to one of my children, or just throw it away. Skullcandy is a more-than-satisfying investment which will not ever let you down.

  4. Okay I consider myself a very knowledgeable and informed consumer. I have tried many a pair of earbuds in my day. I have owned Shure E2c, Sony EX-51 and 71's, and the V-Moda Vibes. I just bought the V-Moda's and love them. I almost bought the Skullcandy 11mm FMJ but online but insisted on the vibes. Well I was in a Mar$hall'$ yesterday and found the FMJ 11mm for 29 bones. I was shocked because I was ready to spend about 70 to get them online. So I picked up a pair expecting to return them 2 hours later. Let me tell you they give the vibes a run for their money. The bass is very clean and powerful more so than the vibes. The vibes still have better reproduction of mids and highs, but not by much. I was totally surprised how good the Skullcandy product was especially because all the audiophiles out there instist their products are garbage. They would be as shocked as I was if they only listened to FMJ 11mm. If I compared them to the Shure e2c, the FMJ's are far superior. I would say stay away from the Shure's. They are way overpriced and sound tinny and thin. The Sonys were ok (decent sound and pretty good bass), but cheaply made hence the 51's then the 71's. Regular headphones will always be better, but Kudos to Skullcandy for the excellent product. A+

  5. What is in the box:
1 pair of 11mm Skullcandy Full Metal Jacket Earbuds
    1 extension cord - about 3ft long
3 sets of rubber ear pieces - 1 small, 1 medium, 1 large
2 sets of foam ear pieces - all same size
    1 drawstring carrying bag

I own both the 9mm and the 11mm FMJ earbuds and the 11mm is quite an improvement. These are louder and the bass has more boom to them. You will not be disappointed with the bass on these things. The quality of material also seems to be better when compared to the 9mm. The cord is sturdier and chrome plated rather than just a rubber cord. The cord is about 3 feet long which should be long enough for most people. The extension cord adds about another 3 feet which extends long than my entire body.

I have never used foam ear pieces before, so it took me some time to figure out a way to fit them in my ear properly. Before I was just shoving them into my ear like normal earbuds and it felt a bit uncomfortable. The real key is to squish the ear pieces to make them thinner, then put them into your ear and let them expand back after a few seconds. This allows a much better fit and an easier time inserting them into your ears.

I have only one minor con. The 9mm featured a in-line volume control slider that is missing in the 11mm version. This is only a minor gripe as I don't consider volume control to be a major feature.

You'll never have to worry if they break, because all Skullcandy products comes with a limited lifetime warranty. Overall, the 11mm FMJs exceeds the 9mm in almost every possible way. From sound quality, to accessories, to craftsmanship quality, it is all an improvement. Unless you find the 9mm for cheap, I highly recommend to go straight for the 11mm Full Metal Jackets.

2 comments about Shure EA410S Soft Flex Replacement Sleeves (Gray) for Shure E3c, E3g, E4c, E4g, E5c, I3c, and I4c models - Small.
  1. I have tried all the sleeves for these earphones (E3c), and I find the gray flex sleeves give the snuggest fit as well as being the most comfortable to wear for a long time.

  2. Shure EA410S soft replacement sleeves work very well. Make sure to get the right ones for you so that they fit comfortably, since everyone's ears are different, go figure! And by the way, for extra external noise reduction I also really like Shure's triple flanged sleeves (Shure EA306 Triple Flange Sleeves). So if you are looking for sleeves to block everything out but the music (for example, during inflight listening, or in other noisy circumstances), I recommend the latter. I use mine interchangeably depending on the situation (for example I use the grey EA410S's at work so that I can still hear the phones ringing etc).

5 comments about Buds Sound-Isolating Earbuds, Black.
  1. I have an Ipod. I was satisfied with the sound quality the Apple earbuds provided. Unfortunately, the cable for the Apple earbuds was constantly tangling. I was searching for a solution to this problem.

While at an airport, I purchased the Brookstone earbuds with the retractable cord. When I questioned a staff member about the sound quality of the earbuds, the staff member indicated that the sound quality of the Brookstone earbuds would be of higher quality than those provided by Apple with the Ipod. I paid >$30 for the set which is a bit higher than the prices I'm seeing on the net.

I immediately began using the Brookstone set exclusively. After a while I noticed that I was enjoying my music less. The sound seemed tinny, less rich than I thought the sound had been. It seemed that something was wrong, something had changed. I thought, however, that I might be imagining the difference. I didn't initially connect the perceived change in sound quality with the Brookstone earbuds.

After a while I began wondering if the change was related to the Brookstone earbuds. I decided to perform a test. While listening to music on my Ipod, I repeatedly switched the 2 sets of earbuds. It was apparent that the sound quality of the Brookstone set was significantly inferior to the sound quality of the Apple provided set.

I went to a Brookstone store in a local mall and asked for a refund or store credit. The Brookstone staff told me that because my purchase was over 30 days old, they could not provide a refund, nor could they provide a store credit. They acknowledged that there was a problem with the retractable mechanism, resulting in many returns. I replied that the retractable mechanism on my set did not work very well, but that was minor compared to the sound. If the sound was acceptable, the retractable mechanism was not a big issue with me.

After much discussion, the staff offered to go outside of company policy and replace my earbuds with the exact same product. I declined, stating that the most important feature in an earbud set is sound quality and another set would not solve the sound problem. I left the store quite disappointed. Brookstone has a store at many airports in the US. I travel quite a bit for work, often overseas. As such, I would be an ideal customer for Brookstone. After this experience, however, I will never shop at Brookstone again.

  2. Bought these on a whim at the Houston airport after realizing that my standard earbuds wouldn't cut it on a flight to Florida.

I opened them up on the plane, plugged them into my iPod, and was blown away with how much noise they downed out. I couldn't hear the plane engines, or my wife sitting next me. The retracting mechanism seemed like a good idea too.

Once I got home and used them in my day-to-day life, my opinion changed. For starters, the retractable thingy makes it difficult, if not impossible to use them at work. The weight of it pulls on the cord and gets in the way. The cord is too short to use at my desk.

But it was at the gym where I decided to return these. Again, the mechanism makes it impossible to use these on the treadmill, as it weighs it down and pulls. And the wires are so thin that you can hear them rub against you. It sounded like I was running outside in a windstorm.

Soo, since I rarely travel but listen to music constantly at work and at the gym, these babies are going back. If you travel a lot and are looking for an inexpensive pair of earbuds, go for it. But if you plan on using these for anything besides sitting in an airplane seat, you'll want something else.

  3. I bought these earbuds in an Airport Brookstone nearly two years ago. I was nervous about paying $35 for them and felt like I had been gouged. Then I used them!

After two years, I am so happy that I am ready to get another pair. I did get a short, but it just occurred in the past few days and I have had them for 2 years. I've taken them all over the place. I keep them in my backpack most of the time, and despite frequently cramming them in there, I've never had a problem until now. I go to law school, so I frequently listen to stuff on my computer so it doesn't bother others and I take these in and out, off and on, and never have problems.

The retracting mechanism is awesome. I hate my earbuds tangling up, and I have for years. These I don't really ever have to worry. The mechanism can be a touch quirky at times, but nothing that would really reduce my enjoyment. Plus, it allows for several level of extension, so you don't have to extend all the way every time.

The sound quality has been fantastic to me, on my iPod and my computer. I really don't know what one of the review was talking about the Apple provided buds were better. I hate those buds and use these exclusively, and I use them all the time. My ears hurt every time I put the iPod given buds in, the sound is always more distant/less clear, I have to turn the volume up higher just to hear, and other noise is distracting. These are much more comfortable. They are earbuds that are comfortable in the ears. Plus, with their noise cancellation in combination with their putting the sound further in your ear has always given me rich sound quality that felt like the music was almost coming from my inside head (not like I had bulky speakers in or on my ears). The quality is so good, and the sound cancelation so easy that I can keep the volume low but still hear much better than my Apple earbuds, which is good because I don't like destroying my ears.

Like I said, they are the most comfortable earbuds I've had. I used to have headphones, earphones, etc. I hated one thing or another about them. I really am not interested in spending the money for high tech headphones with nice noise cancellation and all that. I would much rather use these earbuds than any low or medium quality headphones, earphones, or earbuds.

What more can I say? I love these to death, and after 2 years of excellent use I am more than willing to pay another $35 to buy a new pair. Best earbuds/headphones I have ever had.

  4. I had a pair and after a couple months they have a short after reading another review on this issue I don't even want to bother trying to exchange them...to much hassle to end up with the same issue again.

  5. This is a really bad product which does not work for noise cancelling.
It's really flimsy as a regular headset and does not last.
    Don't buy this product.

Brookstone also has bad customer service and this product is not returnable or refundable after you discovered it is a bad product.

5 comments about Shure E3 Sound Isolating Earphone Stereo Headphone.
  1. These earbud-style headphones provide incredible sound quality and great comfort. I keep them in for hours on end at work and end up forgetting that they're there. I've been using the foam buds which do an excellent job of blocking outside noises. My building is being remodeled, so there's construction raging next to me all day long; with these headphones in I can only hear the very loudest of crashes.

    Definitely a good buy.

  2. good sound (not Great!); OK fit(somewhat uncomfortable); always popping out of your ear(s); heavy cord; left earbud malfunctioned after only two months w minimal use; cust serv was horrendous from the executive offices to tech support; WAY TOO PRICEY FOR MEDIOCRE PRODUCT

  3. I've had the E3s for about a month and prefer them over the Bose QC2 noise canceling headphones I've been using for 2+ years. Here's why: 1. The sound is superior. With a good seal in the ear canal, the sound reproduction (and bass response) is excellent. 2. Noise cancellation/isolation is better. Shure's sound isolating earphones were designed with musicians in mind so they can monitor their performance without being subjected to sound levels that shred eardrums. 3. For me, the E3s are more comfortable than over-the-ear phones. After about five minutes, I don't notice I'm wearing them. 4. They seem sturdy (only time will really tell) and have a heavy duty 5' cord. 5. Less bulky than over/on the ear headphones. The included case provides good protection, is pocket sized (smaller than a hockey puck). The QC2 case takes up a lot more space in a briefcase or carry-on. 6. The original list price on the E3 was over $200. At $100 a pop, they're a steal. 7. Because of the E3's combination of sound isolation and fidelity, I find I'm listening to music at much lower volumes than before.

  4. So I bought these for use with DJing as they came HIGHLY recommended. The initial idea of DJing with small headphones was scoffed at by people who frequent the forum I am on. However, having gotten to try both a pair of $20 in ear headphones and a pair of the Sony V700 headphones that every DJ and their mom owns, I decided to spend the extra money to pick up a pair of Shure E-3 headphones rather than the Ultrasone DJ1 Pro headphones I had been drooling over.
I want to start this review by saying that I was never a fan of in ear headphones, my experience had always been with cheap earbuds and I had never had a good experience. However, I needed something to work out with and so in the beginning I picked up a pair of the JVC Marshmallow when I bought my I-Pod Shuffle. I rationalized to myself that if I had worked a job requiring ear plugs half the day, then I could deal with the Marshmallows. I was right. So when I was ready to move up, I saw the Shure's were $99 and I couldn't pass this up. I decided to go with the triple flange sleeves as they were supposed to provide the best seal.
When they arrived I was ecstatic. I actually had my roommate drop them off for me while between classes. The earphones come with a thick book and a lot of options (Not to mention that they are already outfitted with the other ear buds. ) However, I had one little complaint, the grey headphones look cheap. The sound quality is second to none, but they just look cheaper than the black or white pairs featured. But I didn't care. I promptly removed the black ear buds and stuck the triple flange sleeves, and I was immersed in a world of sound that made me almost cry. It's been two weeks with these headphones and I have learned a lot since then. I decided to play with the foam inserts and found that they lower the profile quite a bit. That was until I figured out how far the triple flange sleeve were supposed to go it. Then I got then hype and really fell in love with the headphones. I have one or two issues however. I would seriously suggest something else for working out. If not to protect your investment, you will be better off picking up a pair of the Marshmallows as they don't stick out at all. People complain about the E-3's being unstable, but I just don't have that problem. There is a nice, thick cord and they get plenty loud. I haven't tested their limit as of yet, but all I am saying is that with the Marshmallows I had to crank things, but with the E3's I have to make sure not to have things turned up. The sound is crisp and clear, with out too much bass. But there is bass. I actually tried wearing one of each headphone to compare and it seriously sounded like one ear was infected and muffled. This is a must have for any audiophile and if you are a DJ, learn to mix in your headphones and pick up a pair of Shure headphones. They will make a world of difference.

  5. Too Early to tell, still in Burn in time period.

But shows good potential esp. in the treble zone.

  1. I am not an audiophile - I do not have the precision hearing of a bat so I can echo-locate my breakfast. I know some folks are far more particular and can hear nuances in sound that are apparently not within my range of hearing. If you're like me - this review is for you.

Like shoes, it's hard to review something as a comfortable fit for everyone. I can only review something as being a comfy fit for me. Everyone's head and ears are designed differently. If you have a mammoth head or large ears, these may not fit you as well as they fit me. I'd recommend trying a pair on - they are sold at fine electronic stores and they usually have a pair you can try on and listen to.

First, I would try wearing them with no audio at all. Just stand there for 5 minutes with these things on. Do they bug you? If so, they're not for you.

Personally, I find the soft cups that pivot for the precise shape of my head to be very comfy. The cups envelope my ears without scrunching them - just surrounding them with the music or audio I want to listen to. The bass is deep - even with the volume cranked way up, I don't feel like either the treble or bass is cracking.

They're not as trendy looking as the miniscule ear buds everyone wears these days - but for complete solitude in listening to an audio book, mowing the lawn while listening to music, or just tuning out white noise while listing to something relaxing, these are nice.

My less than perfect rating is for the kinda cheesy-looking plastic and foamy headband. The headband is a magnet for dog hair (guess how I found that out?) and the plastic components just look cheap. It doesn't matter how good the sound is - when you spend this kind of money, it's nice to know you can enjoy looking at an item, too. This is why Sony & Apple do so well with their products - they work AND they are sexy to look at. These are just - eh. They're ok, but nothing to write home about in the appearance department. I know from their full-page print ads and infomercials that sound engineers and all kinds of research and rocket science goes into their audio equipment - but they seriously need to work with an award winning designer to come up with a better look. If they canned half their ad campaign and devoted some of that money to design, they could lower the price and these things would sell like hotcakes.

  2. Ok, first, please correct the price. And then we talk about the stupid toy later! Goodbye.

  3. i think that things like this is what makes these poor misguided fools who want to kill americans want to kill americans. the aduacity of the people who can market a product at such a price is totaly incomprehensible and i for one am ashamed for them i thought bose was an awsome product and company but this add just made me not care if you people have the most incredible products avaliable in this world i would not amd i will be sure to make sure that anyone whom i know or meet will know that you are just greedy for lack of a better word dirtbags you know where to stick the headphones fellas and all your products from this moment foward un freakin believable your mothers must be so proud at what a success you are shame on you

  4. When I bought these phones I thought they were awesome. The sound was rich and crisp. The problem is that they broke with very normal wear/tear in about two months. I wear headphones almost every day at work taking them on/off 4-5 times a day. Within two months I had snapped the cheap plastic band. I called Bose and talked to them about a design flaw and they told me it was my fault for being too rough with them. Now I don't have an extremely large head and I definitely was not rough with them (My 5 year old Sony pair held up fine). I would say pass and get anything else.

The get two stars because man when they weren't broken they sounded so good.

  1. I am rebuying a pair of these headphones.(Mine accidentally broke.) I have tried 3 times, within the same price bracket, to replace my current pair and these are SO FAR superior than the newer models available. As mentioned by another reviewer, the cord isn't just a piece of plastic, so it's longevity was relatively amazing. The clip-on ear pieces worked well for me, (but that's coming from someone that those ipod earphones fall right out. ) I guess it just depends on the shape, not size, of your ears. I am buying another pair because I know I can rely on them.

  2. I LOVE THESE HEADPHONES! Great and beautiful and my iPod loves them!

  3. I got this headphones, the cord that runs from one to another and to the laptop is very short and does not reach the laptop. So there is an extention cord enclosed. The problem is that the extention cord has a very loose connection with the main cord. You have to be immobile all the time, to the point of holding your breath not to disconnect the cords. Good luck with the item. I could not return it, b/c the sellers stocking fee was high, and he included part of the price in shipping.

  4. I have been using this product for years. I just needed to replace the ones that broke.

  5. great sounding, comfortable

Received first delivery and one channel did not work, but got a quick replacement.

  1. I was attracted to these headphones because they looked like a steal. They looked like an extremely great deal for the price that I payed for them (around $25)... but what I got was exactly what I paid for. I got very low quality, cheaply made headphones that barely held up for 2 months. The foam padding started deteriorating about a week after I bought these and they hurt your ears after only about listening for an hour. The sound quality is mediocre, but is better than some at the same price range. My biggest problem with these phones was that they leaked an extremely large amount of sound. You can't be in a room, or even a room over from someone without them knowing what you're listening too. HORRIBLE...
But, they are extremely comfortable if you are only going to wear them for a SHORT period of time. They are VERY cheap, and if you don't mind letting anyone listen with you (sound leakage), then these phones shouldn't be a problem. Okay for the casual listener who doesn't have a whole lot of money to spare. The cord is extremely long, which makes for easy maneuverability but does get in the way sometimes. There is a small amount of isolation, more so than with other headphones at this price, but you still can hear outside noise which kind of defeats the purpose.
I would have gave it a 3... because you really do get what you pay for, but I just can't get over how horrible the sound leakage is with these phones. I've used $.99 cent headphones that didn't have leakage this bad... therefore I gave it a 2.
I'm going to loosen up and spring for a pair of Sennheiser HD-280's... better spending $80 for a supposedly fantastic pair than waste another $25 on cheap junk like this.

  2. My first and biggest complaint with these headphones is the physical design; while they are comfortable for short periods, they begin to hurt your ears after awhile and they also slip off quite easily. However, most headphones in this price range are just as bad (if not worse).

They have good sound quality for their price range, although, like most/all headphones this cheap they aren't extremely clear and don't sound extremely good. I didn't notice much sound leakage with these headphones, and could barely hear them when I took them off my head. However, I generally don't listen to music very loud (it hurts my ears) so if you listen to music very loud it may cause more sound leakage (however, you probably won't care).

Overall, considering the price, these headphones are pretty good. You could probably get a better pair for the same price, but you could also get a much, MUCH worse pair.

  1. I have owned two pairs of Etymotic isolation earphones and they do have some of the best sound I have ever heard. However, both pairs broke and both just after the warrenty was up and neither lasted more than 1.5 years. This is due to their small size and plastic construction. I did not abuse them or throw them around. I kept both pairs in their protective cases. One pair had a wire go bad and the other ER4-P had one of the earpeices actually break off. Just beware to take extra special care of the headphones and do not leave them lying around and don't put them anywhere they are not protected as these look to have similar design to other Etymotic earphones. They even have the same tips as the headphones I had. Great isolation. Great sound. Questionable durability in my experience.

  2. I have been a PC gamer for years, and I worked in the audio/telecommunication industry for more than 10 years. Before I got my hand on the GX400, I have try the following gaming headsets: Sennheiser PC166USB, Shure E4g-Gaming Edition, Logitech Digital Precision PC Gaming Headset, and SteelSeries 5H v2. And let me tell you, all these headsets have no comparisons to the GX400, especially for the acoustic accuracy! Accurate bass response, excellent treble range extension, and perfect acoustic imaging, you can even tell (directionally) where you get shot from (just finished playing 2hrs of "Crysis"). Don't think this is just another gaming headset, use it to listen to music on your PC, then you will find out, how bad your home PC speakers sound! However, I did find out a small issue with this headset, not sure it is good or bad . . . once I put on the GX400 to play games, I can't hear a word from my wife (Perfect noise isolation)! You make the call on that!

  3. I have been a FPS gamer for over 10yrs now, hitting all the major consoles and moving into PC gaming about 3yrs ago. I now game only on PCs and have a custom built, very good rig that includes a SoundBlaster X-Fi Elite sound card. Up until recently I used a Logitech headset then moved to an Altec Lansing headset. I figured that a good sound card was all I needed. I thought the headsets sounded great, but now that I have the GX400s, I can tell you that there is NO comparison.

I am in the GRAW 2 division of a clan and play FPS games regularly. As you may or may not now, GRAW 2 was nominated by AIAS for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Design, so needless to say, the sound is absolutely incredible in the game, and I thought my little dinky headset was just fine. However, during a night of gaming, I was getting destroyed and things got a little out of hand and I slammed my headset down on my desk and broke the heck out of it. So...I needed a new one.

During my time of researching, I happened upon EDGE. A number of top players said they were using EDGE products and recommended I check them out. Never before buying a headset over $50, I was a little apprehensive.

First of all, I wasn't sure how I would like the earphones. I was used to the big, over-the-ear headsets, but they do get quite uncomfortable after a long gaming session. Also, they have boom mics that get in the way of eating...and we all you know how much you eat while you game. Another thing is I couldn't find out where the mic was. I knew it had one, but I didn't know where it was or how good it would sound. Lastly of course was the price, if I was going to spend that much, I needed to know that they would come through for me.

I am now in the second week of owning the GX400s and let me tell you that I am astounded. I know it sounds cliche, but I really do hear things I've never heard before, like people 50ft away crawling slowly on the ground. Keep in mind I'm hearing these things over the sounds of waves, other people's guns, and my clan mates talking on Ventrilo. I can crouch down behind a corner and call out to my team mates and tell them exactly how many people are around me, be it left, right, ahead, behind, even above and below. They are absolutely amazing. My game has improved greatly, I don't feel like I'm just running and gunning and hoping for the best anymore, I feel like I have the upper hand before a gun fight even begins.

To get back to the things I worried about: It did take a couple days to get used to the "plugged" feeling. They create a very good seal in your ear canal, so it is hard to tell how loud you are talking. Also, apparently I move my ears when I smile so when someone cracks a joke, I lose the seal, but that's no biggie, just a quick tap back in fixes that. After hours and hours of gaming, there is no discomfort at all. As for the mic, it's great, nearly everyone on Ventrilo noticed that I sounded better and didn't sound like I was in a bathroom like I did before. The mic is actually located on the left cord leading to the earphone, about 4 or 5 inches down so it hangs down to the left and behind your mouth, which avoids the blowing noise some people have. And as for the price, I feel it was well worth it. These things are worth every penny and I would recommend them to anyone in a heartbeat.

  4. This product is a great investment for gamers. The clarity is unprecidented and improves the total gaming experience. My previous headsets improved my gameplay but the GX400 Earphones increased the acoustic realm to where I can hear even the smallest details. I play almost every night and if you were to purchase these earphones the change will be very apparent. The only negative I perceive at the current time is the thickness of the wiring. I have not had a chance to give a good synopsis on wear and tear. So far so good, but I would like to see these earphones last a long time for the price.

  5. First I must say I was rather underwhelmed by the looks of the ear buds. I have other high end around the ear head phones and in comparison, the ear buds are tiny and make you wonder about the quality. With First impressions aside...

Okay on to the good stuff. These ear buds are simply the best head phones I've ever used in a game or music. EVER. The improvement in FPS and MMORPGs is simply amazing. You know exactly what direction you are getting shot from, about how far away they are, and you can hear them above all the other sounds in the environment. The clarity and level of detail is high and the noise isolation is superb. There is no need to crank up the volume to dangerous levels in an attempt to get that next gaming edge.

On to some of the bad. Because the ear buds go into deep into your ear canal, you will hear every bump, scrape the headphone cord makes. It is a little distracting but mostly unnoticeable considering the high level of immersion these earphones give you. 2nd, the volume adjustment, mic mute on the cord feels a little heavy. There is of course the clip to make sure you don't create to much stress on the ear buds. Just don't get to excited and jump out of your seat as you might damage your ear buds.

I can not tell you how comfortable these ear buds are for me. After hours of playing I'm use to having a little ring in my ears or a slight headache due to my head phones causing pressure on my temples. No such problems with these. The noise cancelation is suprising at times. These headphones do not actively cancel background noise but with the strong seal, seems to do it better.

I highly recommend these headphones. As they are the best headphones I've ever used and for those who are willing to spend a little more for quality will not be let down. With a price drop down to $135, I see no reason not to get these headphones. They may not be have as much name recognition as Razer or Logitech for quality gaming products but these head phones come Eytomic Research, the makers of audiophile headphones for over quite some time.

If you are considering getting other ear buds from Eytomic instead of the GX400, I ask that you reconsider. My wife has the 4 series for her iPod and although the sound quality is still superb, the cabling seems weaker and more likely to break. During an emtional gaming session, your headphones may become another casualty if you are considering the Eytomic Products.
