  1. It doesn't sound as solid as the stocked earbuds that came with my Zen Vision M 30GB (I did a review of this player).
I got it and plug it in, as soon as I did, I can hear static sounds as I push it into my Zen. I had a feeling it wasn't going to sound good. I ordered it a month ago and wonder why it didn't ship until I sent an email to amazon and they explained why and had it in two days. The pouch it comes in says Creative Zen Micro. This is the EP-480 for the Micro. Not the EP-480 for the Zen Vision M (Which would make me think the EP-480 has an upgraded sound board or whatever in it for the ZVM.
I'm looking to order another set of headphone because this isn't doing it for me.
It sounds 'ok'. It will do for awhile.

    Update 4/29/07
These earbuds don't have much bass. The stocked ones did. I used to be able to listen to my music pretty loud and have it sound great, but with these, It jusy sounds like crap in my ears.
The only good thins about this is, it sounds ok when listening very low.

  2. these headphones definitely do not disapoint. you are not going to get much better for the price. the sound is great and they fit pretty darn well into your ears.

  3. I originally had a pair of these that came with my Creative Zen Micro, and I was always pleased with their upper and lower ranges of sound quality and fit. When it came time to buy a new pair of headphones after an unfortunate accident, I didn't look at any others to replace m old ones. The only problem with these new ones is that the foamie covers tend to fall off fairly frequently and it gets worse with use.

  4. I have found these earphones to be really comfortable, and the audio quality is good. Yes the foam covering has come off eventually but that took some time, and wear and tear. Good value for money.

  5. this earphones fit my brother's ears perfectly without being very uncomfortable! the music output was great!

  1. I bought this earphone after much research and a few tries of other brands. This is the best, with superb clarity, and balance. This phone is sturdy, of good quality. Unless you are super-base fan, this is the right thing for you. For more base, turn on iPod's Equalizer does a wonderful job, better than those much hyped basy phones out there.

  2. These earbubs deliver exquisite sound. Completely rich, natural, well balanced sound. The bass is rich, yet crystal clear, mids and highs are saturated and crisp. Yet the shielding on the wires is somewhat thin, and whenever you move the wire there is a hollow sort of echo sound, like a stethescope. You'd think the folks at Denon who went to the trouble of developing such exquisite sound would've noticed it themselves. I'm just glad that i went with the low price provider on Amazon, Electronica Direct, for at the price i paid, i'm still extremely happy with them. I'll just try not to boogie too much when i'm listening to the remastered Pink Floyd Echoes!

  3. I was on a two week long search for the earphone that fit me best. I started with the Bose Triports which had good base but did not create a nice seal like the Denons do or even come close to the sound quality. I then tried Etymotic ER-6i which sounded absolutely great, but they were lacking bass significanty. The Denons solved all the problems the other headphones had and then some. You will be amazed at the quailty of these headphones, I hear stuff that I've never heard before in songs.

I was lucky and was able to snatch these up when they were on sale for $99 on Amazon but they are still a steal at $141 IMO.

  4. While i have yet to reach the state of audiophile i am definitely about as picky as you can be one it comes to video and sound quality and still be 18. However these ear buds have yet to give me anything but amazing sound. I can honestly say that the kbps actually matters with these. I had a couple albums that someone in my family had recorded at a lower bit rate and i had to go back and reimport them because the sound quality was so horrendous compared to a higher bit rate. These ear buds will never let you down. It took me a couple days of trying different tips to figure out the right ones for me but after i did they stay in your ear great and besides the sound being pumped into your brain you kinda forget they are there.

If you can afford these and listen to music all day long there is no better ear buds for you.

  5. I can not say enough good things about these headphones, I will agree that the interchangeable earpieces were not the most comfortable for me but that's the thing, They are interchangeable not only with what comes with the generic 3 sizes in the box but also with other brands. I had a blown pair of headphones with earpieces I preferred and they fit on the denons no problem. The bass is superb compared to any other headphones I could find and if you shop around these babies can be had for over half off.

This earbuds are as cute as could be, sound great, and are durable, but are very, very uncomfortable. I can only wear mine for about a half hour before they begin to hurt and after an hour I have to take them out---then that's it for the whole day. They are a somewhat soft rubber on the outside but the inside is hard plastic; they are comparable in quality to the earbuds that come with iPod nanos. For the price they are adequate, but you can spend about the same or a bit more and get earbuds that are all this and that you can wear for longer as well.

I ended up buying some "Koss "The Plug" Portable Headphones" for under $20 and can wear them all day; I would recommend something like this instead.

I do like the colors that these earbuds come in, but they are more than an accessory for me and have to be usable as well. The sound quality is just fine for a cheaper ear bud---no complaints here.

Mine often fall out because they do not change their shape to accommodate your ear; your ear must change shape to fit this earbud, hence the discomfort.

  2. Unlike most cheaper earbuds that I have tried, including the ones that come with an iPod, these will actually stay in my ears.
There are more comfortable earbuds out there, but they cost a lot more (like the Shure e2c, noise reducing ones).

  1. This review may come across as a bit of a rant because to be honest it probably is one. I bought these headphones less than a week ago, and to say there are awful is an understatement. So awful were they that the very next day I went out and spent another hundred dollars on a pair of Bose earphones (which although not perfect are still pretty good and far far superior to these ones). I feel cheated as they are pretty expensive, and yet sound like you are listening to the cheapest pair of earphones in exsistence while at the same time managing to break any of the bass capibilities of your i-pod etc... In fact I still use the 1gb Sony mini disc recorder as even though it may be out of date compared to the i-pod I find the sound quality so much better. So imagine how disappointed I was to realize these headphones make it sound like the poorest walkman on earth. Those 20 dollar 'Sony Fontopia' earphones are better. So anyonned am I that I may even email Harmon/Kardon to see if they can explain.
Sorry this is so long but at the end of the day it may have saved you some money.

Without a doubt the crappiest electrical item I have ever bought.
Why can't I give it no stars?
Oh and I did email Harmon/Kardon but they never bothered to reply. Poor, poor, poor, poor....

  2. I bought two of them.
One is myself, and one is for my friend as a gift.
    For the one, I used:
After I tried the earphone, there is a loud noise, as "Zzzzz", when the volumne is slight high.
If both side of the earphones are the same, I may think it is the natual of the design or construction.
However, the problem of "Zzzz" only happen on left side. The right side works very well.
Therefore, I doublt on the quality of the earphone.
Also, I wrote an Email to the customer service of Harman Kardon. However, there is no reply.
As the result, I am very disappointed by the earphone and the brand, Harman Kardon.

  1. Howdy,

I'm just finishing in the break-in (around 10-12 hours of listening at medium volume) of these cans as well as their little amp: Music Hall OBH-11 Headphone Amplifier

The sound isn't like other headphones, no phat bass, or tinny mids. These are great headphones that are as soft as your pillow that produce a wonderful audiophile style sound. Punchy bass, clean/clear powerful mids. The more volume I put into them, the clearer the sound... You just hear *more* when you crank these cans up. They feel solid, weight's not heavy, but not cheap feeling either.

One thing that you may note and might have seen in other reviews is that these cans will let you hear more of your recordings. Most all MP3s are going to sound compressed, loops / samples in hip-hop sound a bit tinny and compressed. Layered audio that you've heard (many vocalists or same vocalist looped) are going to be teased apart.

This is a double edged sword. For example: "The Golden Age" on the Sea Change album sounds wonderful, the guitar is as accurate and clean as can be, however the vocals might not sound quite as good as the mind's ear when listening on something cheaper. But when you can hear the small riffs / fills in the background of your favorite songs or realize that each snare hit is different when you listen to Synchronicity you're going to wonder how much you've been missing from your music all your life.

One thing I will stress however. If you care to get headphones this expensive and this accurate, you owe it to yourself to invest in the amp for them. I hooked these cans up to my ipod directly and the sound was muddled, confused, and sad... I wouldn't recommend buying them unless you're ready to also get the amp.

    happy listening!

  1. This product is good - which is why I have given it four stars.

However, notice that when you buy this item from Amazon the item is shipped and sold by 8th Street Music.

8th Street Music took FAR too long to ship the package. You should definately try somewhere else before buying from 8th Street Music.

  2. The sound quality of this headphone amplifier is surprisingly good. And it seems to be well made construction wise. Hard to beat this quality for the price. The only reason not to get it is because of the big Hello Kitty logo on it. Though if you want, you can easily cover up that logo with some black electrical tape so nobody would ever know there is a bright pink kitty on your amp.

  3. For the money its not a bad amp. The "clean" setting is nice but the "distortion" and "overdrive" are poo-poo. Also, I'm not thrilled with the Hello Kitty logo but I usually use this amp while alone.

  4. Bought this so I could practice guitar without disturbing the whole house. The connections were loose from the first time I used it. There is a lot of scratching noise, that is when there is a connection at all. In my opinion, this is a total waste of money.
