- this product is ok.i dont like the fact that the ear plugs keep coming out of my ears. it's hard to run on the treadmill while they're coming off. the shipping was a hassal. it tooked about a month to get it. it was so hard to contact the shipper especially without an response back for weeks =( it's too bad because i dont usually give out bad reviews. such a big disappointment
- Let me start by saying I typically HATE, and I mean HATE, earbuds. I usually find that they hurt, they rarely stay in your ears, and the sound quality is such that it just doesn't make the cons worth it. Not so with these little JBuds. Not only do they feel pretty comfortable (as much as something can when you're shoving em inside your ear!), but they stay in place...no more falling out! On top of all of this, they do a fantastic job of noise reduction. I used to have to keep the music as high as possible just to drown out even the slightest sounds. Not so anymore. I can keep my Zune pretty low and still can't hear myself typing, people talking, etc. Crank it up and ain't NOTHIN' comin through! Much to my delight, the sound is pretty darn crisp and clear, too. I'm no audiophile, and I don't think these would be good for those who are, but for the "average Joe" who LOVES to listen to music, loves crisp sounds and a good bit of bass...these are the ones to grab. These little JBuds brought Daughtry to a whole new level for me. I think I fell in love with that cd all over again thanks to these JBuds.
There's only one reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 and it's more of a nitpicky reason than anything. Although they do a great job of giving you earbud covers so that you can adjust the size, the problem is there's nothing to store them in. At least they could have packaged a little bag or something to keep them in. If I could, I would have given 'em 4 1/2 stars but that's not possible. All in all, well worth the price. Grab a pair!
- Read the reviews. seemed OK. got a pair. decent sound. I'm not a big sound-a-phile so I was pleased with the sound reproduction - for
sitting on the bus or darting around town - they are/were just fine.
the biggest disappointment is the cheap rubber sleeves that cover the
earbuds (that are placed in your ear). THEY FALL OFF & YOU LOSE THEM!!
the package does come with a replacement pair,
BUT THOSE FALL OFF AS WELL!!
and once you deplete the originals AND the replacements
(which doesn't take long) YOU'RE SCREWED!!
THIS IS A HUGE DESIGN FLAW! save your $20.00 & use it to buy
a better designed product.
even though the price was right, i would not recommend these.
unless you like sticking a hard piece of plastic into your ear canal!
- I bought this product months ago and one channel failed. It was past the amazon replacement period but there was a 1 year warranty. I didn't have receipt or any other documentation. I emailed the company with my amazon receipt in the body of the email. In less then a hour I recieved an email back saying they would send me a new pair. That was on a thursday. Monday I received the new earbuds -- WOW !! I would reccomend buying the case, sold by the company, to keep your buds blooming.
- I have recently bought several other headphones and keep looking for "the ones." I have had probs with other headphones with chord length, comfort and durability. These are the first of the in ear bud types I have tried. I really like them. They come with three sizes of earbuds so you can change them out if they don't stay put very well. The sound is great to me. They do dampen outside noise, which is great to help me focus at work, but not so much that I would feel unsafe or unaware walking around at night. Also, I really liked the chord length since I use them both for my iPod and for my computer, which sits on the floor by my computer. Finally, I prefer the standard Y chord shape rather than the new shape where one side is longer than the other. These have the Y shape. So all around these are my favorite so far. The thing I will be looking for is to see if/when I lose the detachable bud parts, which I have had problems with on other headphones. All in all though, 2 thumbs up.

- I should say this a good on-the-go headphone worth every penny i spent. I have been using for more than 1 months and it amazed me for its light weight and comfortable wearing. of course the sound quality is pretty awesome.
- Length of time owned - 3 weeks
Previous headphones owned - Apple earbuds, old Sony dj headphones
Listening habit with these headphones - I listen to music/news all day long at work. These headphones are extremely comfortable to wear for hours on end, they are very light and easy to forget your wearing.
The good - sound great, relatively in-expensive, comfortable, fold for traveling, easy to hear sounds around but still provide good enough isolation.
The bad - fold for traveling. The folding part is a plastic ball & socket. I would not want to be folding these carelessly for fear of snapping a headphone off.About that 6 hour mark my ears get a little tender, I don't entirely blame these headphones. The cord is a bit short (about 5'), I need to get a extension.
Overall -- recommended, 4/5.
- With it's wide frequency response range & light weight... this headphone is the next best thing to being in the front row of a concert !!
- First off, don't be fooled by those reviewing these headphones saying that they are just as good as the high dollar audiophile headphones. That is absolutely not true at all. They sound really good, but not THAT good.
That said, they are great sounding headphones. For this price range, they are one of the best. Koss Portapros probably sound slightly better, but they are not as compact as these. They offer great sound, even response, and portability. I especially like using these at home in the evenings. Their open design allows me to hear things around me (like the crying baby or my chatty husband) while still being able to have my music in the background.
I also use these at work and the sound quality is good enough, considering I'm not always paying enough attention to the music for all of the detail anyway. For improved sound over stock phones that come with portable players, look no further. For improved sound on a budget, look no further.
- I'm very pleased with my PX-100s. They sound great for my ecclectic mix of music, from rock to classical. Nice mids. I intentionally got these over, say, the PX-200's because I didn't want to be 100pct disconnected from what's going on around me. When I want that, I can use my Sony MD-7506's.
I can't get them in their hard case instantly, it does take a little time. But the hard case is great because I can just thrown them in my go bag and don't worry about damage.
They're very comfortable.
I like that the jack is straight rather than having a 90-degree bend in it. No complaints about the strength of the wire. It's nice and light.
I'm very happy with my PX-100's.

- These headphones have ALOT of bass response. If you listen to them with something without any tone adjustments, like an equalizer for example, don't expect flat, uncolored response. Now if you do add some tonal adjustments to them via an equalizer (cutting some low and lower mid frequencies) they are very respectable sounding. They are also very efficient, basic onboard computer output easily drives them. For the money, they are a decent value. I personally would have liked a less bass boosted response from the factory, but with adjustments they are fine. Comfort is very similiar to other closed type headphones I have experienced over the years; they need to be moved slightly around after wearing for awhile or they tend to get uncomfortable. All in all they are pretty decent for this price range.
- Just received the product today to replace my logitech premium headset that becomes mono-sound now. The best thing this sennheiser has is the ear covers from both left and right which reduce any outside noises you may experience during the play. SOund quality and loudness are very good. Compared to logitech, paying a little bit more for this product is worth it.
- Bought my first one 4 years back and one again 2 years back. Infact I bought both of the them when the prices were around $20-22.
No headphones at this price range come even close with sound quality. One thing I didn't like is the ear cups, my ears kind of get stuck inside everytime.
To rectify that, I cut two oval shaped pieces of black sponge, covered with them headphone earcup covers from the many cheap ones lying about (esp airline ones) and stuffed that black sponge into the ear cups.
You will not believe the comfort and it reduces the volume a little bit which works for me.
- These are great for taking on a plane, or traveling in general. They are not as compact as earbuds, but still portable enough for most travelers. The quality of the sound for the price is great. I was surprised by the bass coming out of these.
- Sennheiser HD202 headphones are outstanding for the price paid. I bought it to use them for tv and computer sound. TV sounds great with this headphone, just enough base. I love them

- What more is there to say. I just unpacked my phones and right now I'm jamming to Stairway to Heaven and It's the best Ive ever heard it. Im a very thrifty person so I will NEVER spend more than what these cost me so this a great bang for your buck if you havn't bought higher quality phones in the past. Oh yeah, and most importantly to me, they don't hurt like hell like those flippin earbuds!!!
- I got these for my project studio at home. The sound is awesome, and I can wear them for hours without it hurting. I liked them enough that when my sister ran over them with a computer chair, I bought a second pair.
- I recently ordered these headphones, and I must say that they are excellent for the money! They have good bass, excellent highs, and unlike what most people were saying in their reviews, these don't go as loud as speakers (obviously), but they are more than enough for the common music listener (or music junkie).
This has been recommended by me to numerous friends.
- With all the reviews focusing on the ill, let's focus on what these headphones do well, shall we?
1) Ambient sounds: I own a number of headphones in this pair's price bracket, and none of them pick up noises as faint as the "wmwm" noise of a guitar string after a strum quite like this pair. It was a nice surprise to be able to hear such subtle things with such a cheap pair of cans.
2) Build quality and feel: My only real concern with this pair is the cable - it feels rather thin and weak, though should put up with normal abuse admirably. The cans themselves are durable enough; they do not feel cheap or flimsy, the leatherette padding is decent, and the cans are comfortable. Though, they may feel loose if you have a small head. My head is not very large, but it's nice to have a pair of circumaural headphones that don't make my head feel as if it's in a vice.
3) Bass: This is subjective, but I'm glad to find a pair of cans that have a crisp bass response in lieu of an overpowering low-frequency drone. The crispness of the bass on these cans makes them especially nice for classical, but you may find them wanting when it comes to rock.
And now for the bad:
1) High-frequencies: High-frequency response is anything but clear. "S" sounds crackle and hiss, and others are piercing. TO GET THE MOST OUT OF THESE HEADPHONES YOU NEED AN EQUALIZER. I cannot state this clearly enough, as without doing so these headphones nearly gave me a headache. You MUST toy with an equalizer on frequencies above 1.8khz. Experimenting for a short time will eliminate the sibilance and piercing sharpness of high-freq's.
2) Isolation: It's there, but not strongly. At such a low price it may be difficult to fault them on this, but I would like more.
3) Sensitivity: Compared to other headphones I own, I have to have the volume about 50% to 75% higher to get the same loudness out of them.
4) Portability: These are not portable in any way. The cable is worryingly flimsy for "on the go" use, they do not fold, isolation is lacking, and the sensitivity is too low for portable media players. I would never use nor suggest circumaural headphones for portability, regardless.
5) Bass: As previously stated, it's crisp rather than strong. If you love your bass like I love my coffee, look elsewhere.
Finally, I'd like to add that for the price, I'm amazed. Don't count the numbers of pros and cons; take the (de)merits for what they are. When given the low price point, these are exceptional. When given that your wallet needs to go on a diet, go for more Sennheiser's higher-end.
- These headphones work. I use them in my dorm when my roommate's in so that I can listen to music while he's watching TV or listening to music on his laptop. In that function, they serve their purpose well. The noise cancellation of the headphones is really top notch, I couldn't hear my roommate talking to me from just across the room. The volume that these things can reach is incredible as well. They fit comfortably around the ears and pivot to fit your head perfectly. Highly recommend these headphones.

5 comments about Maxell Noise-Cancellation Headphones.
- I've never felt a need for noise cancellation headphones, but I received these as a gift. Fortunately, no one spent a lot of money on them, because they really seem cheap to me. The construction is flimsy, and they're bulky. Maxell might as well have included a paper sack to carry them in, as the bag that comes with them is not much more than that. It offers no protection to the headphones at all.
I just can't see packing this kind of bulk in my scarce carry-on space. I don't see any payoff for the bulk in terms of the sound that you get: these simply sound quite mediocre with the noise cancellation off. With noise cancellation on, the sound is even worse. It's flat and lifeless.
I had recently purchased a pair of Sennheiser PX-100s. They sound vastly better for the money. They fold down super-compactly into a nicely-designed case and even cost a few bucks less.
I don't know about the expensive noise-cancellation headphones, but I would rather have a better pair of regular headphones for this price.
- After only 3 uses, the earphone broke away from the headband while the set was in my airline carry-on, without any undue physical stress on the case. Since I owned these more than 90 days, Maxell so-called "customer support" told me they could do nothing about this and that the only thing I could do, short of getting this repaired locally, is to throw them away since the plastic connector was broken beyond repair. Never again!!!
- I bought these in the second week of February. Today is April 3 and the right headphone is already on its death-bed. If I fiddle with the cord, I can get it to work, at least until it dies out again. It's an endless cycle of fiddling with the cord over and over again, only to have the right speaker die out again and again. I finally give up.
Any headphones that can't even last 2 months are not worth your money. I've also read other reviews where the same thing happened, so it's not like it was an isolated incident. Needless to say, I will not buy any Maxell headphones ever again and I suggest you don't either.
- I was going on a business trip, and didn't have time to get these in through Amazon. I had a previous version that went bad after four years, so I bought another pair (through Walmart).
Maxell really cheapened these up. The phone jack was flimsy, and started having problems after only three uses in my laptop. The fit around the ears was nowhere near as nice as the previous pair I had, and there seemed to be an intermittent (more on than off) constant tone around 9000 hz that was quite irritating.
Save yourself the time and aggravation with this pair, spend the money on a nice Audio-Technica unit (like I'm going to do) and get something that meets your needs for the long haul.
- this was my second pair of noice canecelling headphones. my first pair were made by sony, but can't remember the model. the noise cancelling was not as good as the sony's but they are far more comfortable...EXCEPT FOR THE ON-CORD BATTERY HOUSE/NOISE CANCELLING CONTROL!!! that was the dumbest part of this product!!! it just hangs heavily from the headphones unless you put it in your pocket. then it takes up valuable pocket space, especially in the summertime when you don't have coat pockets to put some things in. the sony pair had the battery housing and controls built right on the head phones. i read in another review that this is a belt clip...don't believe the hype. there is no clip on this thing. the sound was mediocre and the noise cancelling was inferior to the sony.
also, as previously stated, my left ear is gone. sometimes it comes on when the cord gets bumped around in my pocket to the right position, but otherwise it is gone. i don't know how something like this could happen after a few months of use, but it is not a good thing. i checked to make sure it wasn't my ipod that was broken by putting the headphones in my computer and sure enough it was the headphones.

5 comments about Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7 QuietPoint Active Noise-Cancelling Headphones.
- These are my first pair of noise-cancelling headphones, I use them mostly on airplanes to cancel the sound of the engines. It does a reasonable job, certainly doesn't eliminate the noise but cuts some of the high frequency whine. However, the audio quality isn't that great, overemphasis on the bass which sounds pretty muddy. It's pretty bad with the noise cancellation turned off, and becomes average with it on. My iPod earbuds sound much better actually.
In the end if given another chance I probably would buy a different pair of noise cancelling headphones to get something with better sound.
- I received the headphones today and they are being sent back. No matter how I adjusted them they hurt my head. Also the sound quality isn't as good as expected. I have some Shure headphones which have a much better sound quality. Also the Shure headphones are better for noise canceling. Think I will stick with them. helga
- I purchased these before a trip to the east coast, about a 5-6 hour flight. I pop these on and hit the noise cancellation feature and the jet engine roar and chatter of fellow passengers is nearly eliminated. Now, you do hear the captain come on the intercom, and the crying kid right behind you. But, if you have an iPod with you, jack that up until those noises are a distant memory, it' doesn't take much. If you're looking to relax and get some sleep, get Pzizz [...]
* The sound quality is great. Excellent bass, nice crisp treble.
* Battery life (AAA) is great. To and fro the east coat and the NC is still going - more than 12 hours or so on the cheap akaline battery that comes with it.
* The comfort is great, fits over the ears just fine.
* Design is great. Comes with a nice carrying case that is well-made and durable. Phones lay flat with enough room to put a full size iPod in there too. Detachable cable so you can use them stand alone with no wires dangling.
* The price is great. I haven't tried the Bose QCs to compare but frankly I'm happy enough with these and don't need to.
* It's only been a month, but these are great to muffle the plane noise, or the TV if you're reading, or the neighbors barking dog. With the support of some music, that's pretty much all you hear. Very happy.
- I have gone through a LOT of headphones. A lot. These, by far, are the best headphones I have ever owned.
Pros:
The noise cancellation is absolutely incredible. I used the headphones on a trip to India (3 hours to Chicago, 15 hours to New Delhi), and I wore them the entire time. The constant drone of the airplane engines faded off and I blissfully fell asleep the whole way there.
Sound quality is excellent. I don't consider myself an audiophile, but I've discovered subtle nuances in my music that I had not heard before with other headphones. Treble and mids are crisp, and the bass is tight and well rounded.
Sound quality is excellent with noise canceling on. The noise canceling system runs off of a single AAA battery, and I average about 30-35 hours of use per battery. The headphones work fine with noise canceling off, but you will notice a significant drop in audio quality; the audio is rather muffled and lacks the fidelity found with the noise canceling on.
The headphones come with a very sturdy carrying case that doesn't take up much room in the average bag. There is a small pouch inside the carrying case for carrying extra wires and adapters; I carry the audio cable, the airplane adapter, an iPhone headset adapter for the recessed audio jack in the iPhone, and a spare AAA battery in it with no problem.
Cons:
As some of the other reviews stated, there is a moderate amount of noise leakage. You will be able to hear some noise leakage in a quiet office, but it is impossible to detect any noise leakage in an airplane; you definitely won't be annoying the passenger next to you, even with the volume 80% up.
This is a must-have for the frequent traveler. The bombastic noise cancellation, excellent audio quality, and superb build quality make this is the best headphone purchase I have ever made.
- I'm an airline pilot on an older, very loud jet. My wife has been complaining that I don't hear her as well as I used to. This is true. I'm actually not ignoring her, I just can't hear her as well as I used to. That's what 18 years of flying loud airplanes will do to your hearing. A co-worker has owned a pair of Bose Quiet Comfort 2 headsets for a few years and swears by them. I decided to try his headset on a flight two months ago and became motivated to research purchasing a pair. The $300 price tag quickly discouraged me, so I started looking at other brands. The only reviews of other makes and models that I found to be comparable was the Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7, so that's what I decided to purchase. I really like them. I even tried both the ATH-ANC7 and my co-worker's QC2 on a recent flight for comparison purposes. I was impressed that the noise cancellation of the ATH-ANC7 was at least as good as the QC2, if not better. The only advantage that the QC2 had was the fact that they felt lighter on my head. The ATH-ANC7 is comfortable, but the QC2 is even more comfortable. This one advantage no where near justifies paying an extra $200 though. Overall, I am very pleased with my decision to go with the ATH-ANC7 over the QC2.

- I wanted inexpensive earphones for myself and my daughter, and we are both very pleased with this Coby model. They have held up, so far, to fairly rough use (in and out of bags, worn in bed and slept on). We are both pleased with the sound quality.
- The earphones are comfortable, but they do not sound as well as the earbuds I already had. I guess you get what you pay for.
- I read some of the other reviews on these headphones, some good and some bad. From my experience these are great earphones for a great price. They fit comfortably in my ear, unlike the manufactured earpieces, where one side went out, and they have excellent sound. I did enjoy the sound of the original IPOD headphones but these sound just as good with good bass quality. I would recommend these, especially to those who work out since you don't have to worry about them constantly falling out of your ears! And they arrived in a timely manor.
- Ok, I'm no audiophile, but I believe these earbuds have great sound. Once I found the right EQ on my Ipod, they sounded crisp and clear with good bass.
They fit comfortably in the ear, and the wiring is good...the cords at first come connected, and you can pull them apart as far as you want, but you can adjust a little plastic piece to keep the wires from pulling apart any farther than you would like. The only reason I only give this product 4 stars is because of the little rubber pieces. These fit comfortably, but the problem is that they fall off much too easily. Sometimes they will fall of when I am just pulling them out of my pocket. They will stay put while the headphones are in your ears, but otherwise they are very easy to lose. It's a miracle that I have kept mine as long as I have (I lost one about a week ago), as they have fallen on the ground countless times and I have had to search for them. Koss should at least provide free replacements for these, as they are most likely extremely inexpensive, and the earbuds just won't function without them (they won't even stay in your ear). Overall, great sounding headphones, but replacements for the rubber pieces should be provided, or they should
be designed to not come off so easily.
- I bought one pair of these because I was skeptical at first. I was pleasantly surprised with the sound quality of these earphones. I still can't believe these are offered at such a low price! WOW! Needless to say, I bought 10 pair so I always have some handy!
I primarily use them at the gym...intense cardio sessions...with lots of sweat...and they're holding up like a true champion! Highly recommended.

- Pros:
- Good sound quality (for me)
- ...that's it
Cons:
- Flimsy cable (The mfg should have just compare the quality with Apple's)
- Bad design connector that stick out from my player (ipod) 1 1/2 inch, combined with the flimsy cable it will easily break the wire inside in time. Should design it as a low-profile L-shape or flexible connector.
- Not sure about the copy right issue with Apple earphone, but the cable slider organizing thingy make sense and should include in most earphone design.
Overall the flimsy cable and bad connector make me lost interest immediately.
- These buds do not sound better than the standard apple buds. I also just bought some Philips earbuds from Walmart for about $12 which sound better than the V moda. The Vmoda do fit nicely in your ear and perhaps people with small ears will prefer them.
Here is how I rate the sound. My BEST headphones are over the ear Sennheiser EH 150. I rate them a 10. The Philips earbuds are second at 7, apple standard buds third at a 6, and V Moda last at a 5. Maybe when I get some coin I will buy a pair of Sennheiser's earbuds, but they are pricey.
- These earbuds are inexpensive and fit well. Sound quality and volume is adequate for most uses...enough so that it is reasonable effective on a relatively noisy plane trip.
- I got an Ipod Touch for Christmas and the headphones that came with it are crappy.
I started a long search for good sounding headphones at a reasonable price. I was willing to spend up to $[...]. I wanted in ear headphones that would stay in because I go mountain biking and the Ipod original headphones kept of falling out. I can't use my over the ear, over the head earphone, because I wear a helmet on these rides.
I looked at V-moda Vibe, Bose TriPort, Bang & Olufsen A8, Shure SE110, JBL Reference 220, Sennheiser CX300, and a few other ones. Pretty much all of the above mentioned headphones had good as well as bad reviews. I mainly focused on the bad reviews to see the flaws and see if that would turn me off.
I somehow stumbled upon these V-Moda Bass Freq. At first I was reluctant on getting them. I though ohh it's just another pair of cheap headphones. I read all the 1 star reviews, and then some good reviews. Then I found out that these were [...] editor's choice in october 2006. Read some more reviews, and decided I'll give them a try.
I got the black ones to match my ipod. I read a lot of reviewers complaining about the packaging and back part of the headphones coming/braking off when taking them out. I was careful about it and everything was fine. Then for about 5 minutes I played around with the silicone inserts/plugs. Found the ones that fit and sounded the best, and have been using them ever since. I love these headphones, and I recommend them to everybody I know.
These headphones haven't fallen out of my ear on my bike rides yet, and I don't think they will. The bass is good, and the highs are pretty crisp and clear.
I listen to Hip-Hop, Drum and Bass, House, and all sorts of Electronic, Music. And it all sounds good with these. Plus for $[...] it's a great deal. When my pair wears out, I'll most likely just order another one.
- Purchased the item based on the good reviews on Amazon and cnet for the Sansa E280 but was very disappointed with the sound quality. The headphones do a decent job of blocking outside noise but the sound quality was not great with quite a bit of distortion. Item was returned to Amazon two weeks ago but so far I haven't recieved a confirmation of receipt and my refund. I'm currently waiting to receive the Maximo iM-490s which I ordered as a replacement and hopefully will perform better.
