3 comments about Toshiba 62MX195 - Cinema HD - rear projection TV ( DLP ) - 62" - widescreen - 1080p (FullHD) - HDTV.
- Originally I was going to purchase the Sony KDS-R60XBR1, I stoped into a local retailer to look around and they had this TV next to the Sony. At first I thought the Toshiba did not have good contrast, but after messing with the contrast & Brightness we got them looking about the same.
To be honest I was worried about the fact that I am still using only Analog Cable (480i). I thought that the picture was going to be grainy... To my delight the picture for most channels is great, I sit approximately 12 feet from the TV, and to me I think its a Great picture, I can hardly wait to get a true Digital image better than 480i. I will warn you tho some channels are better than others, one of the local channels looks like it has a hint of snow...
My old Proscan (RCA) DVD player (circa 1999) casts a great picture through the component hookup, even though its only 480i, and again with a quality DVD like Finding Nemo (I bet you can tell I have kids) it has an awesome picture. My 2 year old son is just mesmorized by it... I leave the picture in native mode for the most part, where the sides are Black, If you stretch a 4x3 picture it becomes grainy... An enlarged picture is ok, but I like a little more head room...
The Remote control was a little awkward at first, and finding that button that I know is there somewhere sometimes gets lost. But after 3 days I am becoming familiar with it.
Apparently the TV I purchased was too large for someone elses living room, it is BIG, REAL BIG, so if you sit closer than 12 feet you might consider a smaller set. Also I had a heck of a time finding an entertainment center that had a TV stand which was 57" or wider. THe TV is approximately 37" x 57".
The picture is Bright, VERY bright, and with a 150W Bulb I put the bulb on low power and it was better for my room. There is a lot of light in my room too, so I was pleasantly surprised. Admittedly at night with the lights off, its still a little hard on the eyes, so a light in the corner is on to help with that.
THere is a known potential problem with original bulbs on certain serial numbers, Toshiba is aware of this and extends the Bulbs warrenty to 2 years if in the range.
In heindsight, I am glad I got this set over the Sony, not only did I save $1000, The Bottom speakers make it much narrower than the Sony (about 9 inches to be exact). The extra 2" larger display is a plus but its not like it matters much on a set of this size.
Overall its an excellent set...
- Wow.
I went looking for a TV looking for an obvious bargain. I could not have found a better TV. This TV originally being released late in 2005 can be had for a good deal. If you are buying a TV it's never a bad idea to buy models that are being sold making way for new models. This is a 1080p display TV so it's not like the new models are gonna be THAT much better. Atleast not $1000 better which is probably gonna be the difference in price.
I've been watching some HDTV (discovery and HDnet the 2 channels that broadcast the highest definition signal "1080p") and the quality I get rivals that of some of the dedicated "fancy" 1080p demos you see some of the most expensive models displaying. . Don't fall for that. Stores just do that so they can sell while the price is high. So they'll put a fancy dedicated demo on their newer $5000 and above models. Go for the bargain. At 62 inches and 1080p, this is one BANG for your BUCK tv!!
- I've had this TV for 14 months now, and the picture is still fantastic. I've never had a problem with this tv. No bulb replacements, nothing. regular cable or HD is fantastic. you can't go wrong with this model of the Toshiba.

- I have this TV and I am very happy with it. It has a very nice, bright, crisp picture. It has TRUE 1080 - be careful when looking at sets. 1366 X 728 pixels is 720P HD. 1920 x 1080 is full 1080i/p HD. Often times sellers give the pixels and then say the TV takes 1080i input - this does not mean it can display all those pixels though! Check the pixels if you want 1080, it should have 1920 x 1080 pixels. It has lots of inputs including 2 HDMI (3 would be nicer but many TVs just come with 1).
Now, this is not the most full-featured model and you may be able to find more features for your money. It does not have picture-in-picture (bummer). The menus are navigable, but sparse and somewhat awkward (but not too bad). The automatic format detection is a bit buggy - it may try to automatically change the aspect ratio during the middle of shows and movies and that can be annoying. You just need to manually set the TV to Widescreen in this case.
Overall, I am very happy with the set.
- When I first got this tv I was amazed at how I got such a good deal. The picture quality is excellent and the price was great. After about 3 months it started having problems. It started taking longer and longer for the tv to turn on. Now it takes about 10 to 15 min to turn on. Also after 6 months it is starting to have trouble with the ATSC/Qam tuner. HD channels are starting to go blank. I wish I could return it but now I am stuck with it.
Thanks Magnavox.
- We had the TV about 3 months before the pic just screwed up...you couldn't watch it at all. Trying to get it fixed was the worst! You can't just take it back; they find a certified TV repair person in your city (which took a month), the repair people called and made an appt for 1 1/2 weeks out. They finally come find the problem, order the part (took 2 weeks) , make another appt(one week later) and come replace the bad part. Worked fine for another 2 months but has started the whole process all over again. When it works, great picture. All in all, we lost about 2 months of viewing waiting on for the run-around to come full circle!
- It took a software update to make this tv perform correctly. previously, the only time i was happy with the picture quality was for a fraction of a second when switching between the menu and normal viewing. for some reason, just exactly then, the picture became GREAT.
fiddling with brightness and tint and contrast, etc, only generates slight changes in screen appearance.
we touched the screen with bare fingers when we installed it, and seem to be cursed with an eternal unerasable smudge.
seriously: no proctective, cleanable barrier between the lcd and the world?
we have yet to get any hdtv equipment. no telling how things might improve
- i've had this tv for almost a year now. it looks great with my verizon fios hd service. i havent had any problems with it, so i dont what others are talking about. good bang for the buck

- If you are looking for an HD-Ready TV, let me say that i was blown away by this one! I'd been searching for an HDTV for almost a year and a half, and when I found this one, i knew the search was over! Not only was i looking for a TV that would be "top of the line" in its technology, ablilities/features (it even has a PC input for computer link-up!), and most importantly its picture an sound quality, i also wanted a TV that would compliment any modern-looking room or apartment with a great looking, modern design. When I got this TV it not only had everything i was looking for in its features and abilities, it was gloriously beautiful in every way! With its stunning picture and design, this HDTV truly brings the "television set" into the 21st century in a big way! This one comes stock with its own bragging rights! I would give this one 6 stars if I could. You can't go wrong with this one my friend, its absolutely amazing!
- I HAVE HAD THIS HDTV FOR ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF NOW, I SEARCHED ALL THE ELECTRONIC STORES FOR WEEKS BEFORE I DECIDED ON THIS ONE. LET ME TELL YOU ,YOU WILL BE HARD PRESSED TO FIND A MORE CLEARER PICTURE IN A PLASMA TV. AS A MATTER OF FACT THE STORE I BOUGHT IT FROM, IT WAS SETTING RIGHT BESIDE A PLASMA SET AND I COULD NOT TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE PICTURES. IT IS ALSO A BEAUTIFUL TV, IT REALLY MAKES A STATEMENT WHEN PEOPLE COME IN AND SEE IT FOR THE FIRST TIME. IF YOU WANT A WORRY FREE HD EXPERIENCE, AND ONE THAT YOU WILL NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT AND ALSO NOT PAY THE PLASMA PRICES, ESPECIALLY FOR A 52 INCH WIDE SCREEN HD , LOOK NO FURTHER

5 comments about Sony KV-32XBR450 32" XBR Wega Flat-Screen HDTV Monitor with PIP.
- We've had our 32" XBR450 for about three months, and the whole family loves it. Coupled with a progressive scan DVD player (we have the Sony DVP-NS700P, also a great product), the picture is nothing short of amazing. Even VHS tapes look better with this TV, thanks to the line-doubling up-conversion process the signal goes through. The sound quality is also excellent--even has treble/bass adjustments--and has surprising bass output for a TV set. The picture-and-picture feature (scalable side-by-side twin views) is really cool; however, be aware that you won't be able to view two channels at once if you get satellite service. (You can still view different sources simultaneously, though.) The unit also has plenty of inputs, including two component video inputs (for high-definition sources) so you can hook up a DVD player as well as an HDTV receiver. While the price is high, for the quality, features and flexibility, you can't beat this Sony for 32" models. I would recommend this TV to anyone who can afford it.
- This set is surprisingly good in the following ways:
After owning this set for four months, I am astonished at how BAD other televisions look. When my friend bought a 32 inch WEGA (non XBR) and had us over to take a look, I was appalled by the overdriven picture, extensive red push and large gap between scan lines. It was like watching television through a set of venetian blinds. The same with another friend's Toshiba flat tube set. Further, if you're a gadget-type person. you'll appreciate the fantastically in-depth service menu. Every conceivable internal setting of the television can be accessed through the remote. We have dropped the red push altogether and the picture is considerably more pleasing than when the set was new. Finally, the resolution of the picture tube is so much better than standard televisions that flaws, edits, and manipulations in NTSC sources can easily be detected with the naked eye. This could be a turn-off for some casual owners; other television sets are too blurry and inaccurate to reveal the flaws in a broadcast. Not the XBR! With this set, the difference between high quality and inferior broadcasts is as plain as day. To sum up, this television is superior in every way. In fact, its superiority makes some common NTSC programming look pretty bad. Some owners won't like it, preferring to hide the flaws in the signal by watching through an inferior set.
- I bought this TV last year and I love it. I have an elliptical satellite dish
and a Toshiba HDTV receiver. The picture quality is what sold me on this model, whether you are watching the news or a DVD on a progressive scan player (with component video cables) Sony gives you the option of four different screen modes, from vivid to 'pro'...that is all picture adjustments in the default position. The control over every aspect of the picture is daunting at first but in no time you'll have the four picture modes perfectly tailored to your tastes. The "split screen" is very cool, you can watch a DVD and monitor a program, minimize or maximize the two screens and have the sound from whichever source you want Even the built in speaker system is sufficient for my taste, to me the picture quality is of utmost importance. I could go on and on raving about this TV. I only have one regret, the price keeps going down! j.nomograms
- This TV is the best we ever purchased. Of course going from a 19 inch model to the 32 inch is a change, the clarity of televsion, video and DVD's is incredible. We read many reviews of Sony WEGA from many sources. Though we spent some bucks, it was well worth it!
- I cannot review the product (originally listed for $1,000.00 dollars more), because Crates Direct pulled a switcheroo and sent an inferior, cheaper model whose true price IS $1,199.99 and not the $2,999.99 they charged me but refuse to alter.
If you order this one, don't expect to get it.

5 comments about Sharp Aquos LC32D41U 32-Inch LCD HDTV with Integrated ATSC Tuner.
- The Sharp LC-32D41U is an impressive display for about a grand. Many LCDs in this price range exibit poor video processing (video noise & edge enhancements), and poor de-interlacing (picture softening during motion). The LC-32D41U does not have these problems. Feed it a high quality source (HD DVD, Blu-ray) and you'll be rewarded with a beautiful picture.
As with most TVs these days, the default video settings are a bit cartoon-ish (over-bright, over-saturated colors, and over-aggressive sharpness). The pleasant surprise is how accurate a picture this set can provide for folks who are willing to do a bit of picture tweaking. For those who don't wish to spend time experimenting with a calibration DVD, try the following settings in the Picture menu: OPC OFF, Backlight -16, Contrast +30, Brightness +8, Color -22, Tint 0, Sharpness -9. In the Advanced Picture sub-menu: Color Temp Mid-High, Black Off, Monochrome Off, Film Mode On. Feed this set a hi def (1080i) signal via HDMI if you can.
A drawback to this set is that the black-level cannot be adjusted to be completely black, even with the Backlight adjustment all the way down. (This is typical for LCDs.) Also, the sound quality from the built-in speakers is mediocre. A home theater surround sound system would be a welcome addition to this set. Aside from that, there's not much to complain about. Anyone looking for a reasonably priced flat panel TV should take a close look at Sharp's D41 series sets.
- Color, sound, looks all fine. Found the manual to be overly complicated. Still dont know if stereo sound is working as the indicator keeps changing from mono to stereo. Also, cant tell if HD is working as the regular picture is so much better than the set it replaced. This could be a provider problem.
- We ordered this TV on November 18th. Out of the box it displayed nothing but brightly colored lights. We tried to resolve the issue, calling customer service and checking on-line help etc. After days and days of frustration with customer service, they insisted we send them digital photos of what the TV display looked like, I guess they didnt believe what we were telling them. We sent pictures, and after we nagged them relentlessly for several MORE days they agreed to have the TV serviced. Several days after that a local TV repair shop called to make an appointment, and we assumed they would actually fix the TV since we were also told a board would be sent to them. All they did was take the TV back to their shop, they'll be in touch in a "few days". Here it is a month later and we still dont have a working TV. What a disappointment all the way around.
- I've had this TV for a few months now, and it's performance has been flawless. The picture is gorgeous. (NB: Change the "mode" to standard instead of dynamic, which is the garish factory setting.) The 6ms response time means no blurring. Not a single bad pixel.
My usual picture, which I receive through Dish Network satellite, is very good, but I got an extra bonus that I didn't expect. I stuck an old rabbit ears and bow tie antenna to the antenna jack just for laughs, and lo and behold, I now receive fabulous High Definition broadcasts from all the local stations. This was totally unexpected, because I barely got standard TV signals (thus, the satellite). Caution: Most of the source material isn't recorded in high-def, even though it's a "high-def broadcast". But when you have a real high-def picture, believe me, you'll notice the difference! Watching sports in high-def is a revelation.
Final advantage: HDMI jacks for the best possible connection to your DVD player, etc. Highly recommended.
- I bought this TV on 10/9/06 and in 5/08, with the warranty expired, the TV began to lose the picture completely, no menus no picture. It did this periodically for short periods of time at first and now it spends the majority of the time just black with sound. I guess I will have to try to get it repaired but am pretty sure that I am just screwed. I purposely purchased this TV (which was more expensive than comparable sets) because of the superior picture quality and the EXPECTATION that it was of better quality than them, in other words as an investment. I am extremely disappointed and the company has pretty much responded to my call to them by saying, "Tough break, try to fix it." They have not responded to emails.

- I am totally satisfied with both the television and the delivery service.
Thank you,

- I tried to buy this item from a seller named 'lovekars' (listed in Amazon's Market Place). After exchanging several emails with the seller through Amazon's service to get answers to some of my questions ans seller agreeing to sell it at the stated price I put the order on last sunday (07/15/2007) giving out my name, shipping details and qty as asked for by the seller hoping to get the transaction initiated by the seller using Amazon's Payment System (As suggested by him). Even after a repeated email I did not get any response from the seller - either confirming the sale or denying it for any reason whatsoever he may have. I am not sure why such unscrupulous sellers are in Amazon's Market Place. They might take any buyer for a ride at any stage of the transaction and delivery of goods and products sold through the Amazon's Market Place.
- THIS HDTV IS EVERY THING I wanted. I love the CabeCARD option, saves me the price of renting a digital box from COMCAST. Any web-sites CLAIMING to have it in stock should be reliable.
IT'S a discontinued model and should be bought VIA PHONE, rather than the INTERNET. Talk to a real person and get their stock quantity. I did ONE-CALL without AMAZON because the price was the same.
BEAUTIFUL set.......
NORFOLK.
- Bought 2, one for the den and one for the bedroom, Incredible picture and easy to use. Remote could be better but with all the remote combo's on the market who cares. 1080p? who needs it. Great deal at 1999.00 each. should have bought 4 more for the rest of the house.
- Stunning Home Theater Plasma. When viewing real HD it is displays breathtaking cinematography in landscapes to action scenes, superior clarity and detail. Brilliant crisp colors. Calibration is a breeze with Digital Essentials; the set has a decent color decoder for natural colors, better color saturation, handles grey scale gradations very well and has a great black level which is vital for the detail in darker scenes.

3 comments about Sony KDF-E60A20 60-Inch LCD Rear Projection Television.
- I just received this television and finally have it working. Although my experience so far has been with the local HD channels using an over the air HD antenna, it has still proven its worth the money.
I come home every night after work wanting to watch TV on a "nice" TV. Sure there might be minor tweaks that you can do to enhance the picture but come on, It's not that noticable and definately not worth $500 to get a guy to come tune it for you. Out of the box this TV does very well. The red is a little sharp but its nothing you cant easily take care of going through the settings. The overall picture quality is absolutely beautiful when watching HD TV. I got to see our Minnesota Vikings get the crap beaten out of them by the Bengals with outstanding quality.
With the large screen size that it has, watching TV series programs like "Lost" etc. really make a difference.
I also purchased the GW12 TV Stand and it looks amazing in the house. Be aware how ever to make sure you have enough room for the TV in your living room. I had to move some of my couches back to the dining room to get a more comfortable viewing distance, but since I know Ill be moving out soon I knew it wouldnt be too bad for too long. But make sure you have at least 12 feet of distance to the TV screen. Remember that the TV is about 3 feet deep and that you will want to calculate that into your measurements as well. The Sony TV stand is shaped perfectly for the TV so there's no excessive space taken up.
To use the full power of the TV I purchased the HD DVR from Direct TV to be able to record everything I miss and still be able to watch it in HD. HD programs are much more clear, vivid and sharper than what they looked like on your standard TV.
One con is the lack of picture in picture. You'd think it would be nice with a TV this big but I suppose Sony had a reason for dropping it.
The Speakers are pretty nice for the size of the TV but with a screen that big you should consider purchasing a home theater system or receiver set with seperate speakers.
The remote control is kind of corny looking but hey its not the main point here.
TV is also very light weight for its size and ways at about 150lbs.
Overall I definately love this TV and think it was well worth the price. I looked into buying a DLP but it just didnt catch my eye as much as this rear projection LCD. Sony has definately improved the darkness of the black on the LCD TV's knowing that there were problems in the past.
- This television is great! The screen size and enhanced/adjustable surround sound, make your tv viewing experience/gaming experience....LIFELIKE! Just like the actual theater! We recently upgraded from a normal television to this! The high quality sound and picture are unreal!!!!! You do not need surround sound or enhanced/detached speakers with the built in sound system. We love it! It is PERFECT!!!!!!
- I've always loved Sony TVs. Had a 48" model for about 15 years and just traded up to this 60" hi-def model. OMG! It's spectacular ... from the size (better than being in a movie theater) to the exceptional picture quality to the brilliance of clarity and color to the overall experience. Also, got an unbelievable price from BrandsMart ... $1,298! Whatever you pay for this, it's worth it if you're a TV junkie ... especially for sports. Even golf is exciting to watch.

- This is a great TV. Good size for 2nd room. Hang on wall or put on stand. Very good sound, thought I would need external speakers, but built in speakers were all we needed.
- Bought the Phillips and have used it less than an hour a day (it is a second tv). I really liked it, and was even looking to buy another one for a different room, until it started getting green lines all across the screen only 5 months after I purchased it. With the problem ongoing, I called Phillips because the TV was still under warranty. They told me I would have to mail the TV (at my own express) via UPS or Federal Express to Arkansas (from the West Coast) and they would replace it with a refurbished one. A refurbished TV was not what I paid for, and they wanted me to spend another $100 in shipping costs to get it. Anyhow, after doing a little research, I found out that Phillips TV's are not the way to go -- apparently I am not the only one that has had problems.
