  1. This is a follow up to my review of 7/05. I stated in my review that I had some issues with the verticle bars and loss of video at various times since I purchased my set in 5/05. I have been contacted by TOSHIBA recently, and a "file" has been created for my complaints. I have no idea if anything else will be done to settle my claim for a new replacement or not. I gave them details of my problems and asked them to let me know their decision. I will insist on the identical model, as I love the hd performance and I am willing to give them another chance to make it right by me. As of today, two weeks after their phone interview, I have not gotten any response on my claim. I would still reccomend this television almost without hesitation (pendind a fix by TOSHIBA). For the money, the digital picture is very good to outstanding and the hd performance will knock your socks off!!!!.............still waiting............

  2. Inspect screen Before signing and accepting delivery of any Toshiba DLP, be sure to check the screen to make sure that the coating on the inside of the screen is uniform. On mine, there was a circle about 10" in diameter that you can see in certain lighting and even when the TV is off! It will appear lighter than the surrounding areas at times and can be annoying. I called Toshiba and had a service man come out and even though he acknowledged that this is common, Toshiba will not replace the screen. I would have given them a negative 10 if it were possible just because of their attitude. So, look at the screen VERY carefully before accepting or purchasing. If you see this problem, refuse to accept it. Or else just buy a Samsung or Mitsubishi DLP to avoid the problem I have.
    carefully before accepting delivery

  3. Toshiba doesn't know what customer service is , I bought a new 52hmx95 over a month ago and it took much yelling to get a lamp replace bulb . I installed it and the tv still doesn't work..Called Toshiba and got the same old run around .. Bad tv , bad company ..

  4. I also had issues with the screen. There was a thumb print on the inside of the screen and a new screen had to be put in. That was the easy part. After months of the TV not working and 5 service calls, Toshiba finally replaced my TV. The newer one has blown bulbs twice in 10 months and has been in for service once. Toshiba's customer service is really bad. They have a "we got your money now your screwed" attitude. Google this model and you will find multiple sites with very upset people. I know some have been lucky, but don't take the chance.

  5. I have owned this television for over a year and have been nothing but happy with it. I subscribe to an HD package with my satelite provider and use a dvd player linked with an HDMI cable -- the picture on both dvds and my HD programing is great. I have had numerous friends come over and be amazed that a projection television can produce such a great picture. The memory card slot on the telivison can be quite useful at times, too. The television has a picture viewer and an MP3 player so I can load up some MP3s onto a memory card real quick (I use memory stick but the television accepts many different memory cards) take them to my television and listen to them with all of the song information displayed on television screen.

I did have one small problem a few months after I purchased the television. The audio would come on but no picture. I called technical support and they were very quick to determine that my bulb had gone, so they immediately sent me another one. However after I got off the phone with them I put the old bulb back in and it worked again. Have never had a problem with it since.

  1. Don't expect any service from a third rated company.
If you are buying a big ticket item or an expensive item, don't go with Samsung.
They will not help you when it breaks down even when it's under the warranty.
They will delay it until the warranty is over.

  2. stay away from amazon, filled with rippers offering low cost for products and who gets screwd, you do and amazon isn't doing anything about it, also don't trust this site http://www.escrowd.com it is a fake site made up to take your money, do not trust it as it isn't listed with BBB as a business in Paris France

  1. The HDTV works great in High Definition, Basic Cable, DVD and even as a monitor for my PC.

  2. i have a few friends that purchased sharp aquos and having been able to watch it and inspect it first hand helped in making the decision to get one myself. i'm the type that is very hesitant in making such big ticket purchases. i tend to research things to death and find it hard to commit since so much money is being spent on it. so after 2 months of researching, i finally made the decision to go with the sharp. i do not regret it for one minute. i love it! but in order to enjoy all that my new HD tv had to offer, i had to upgrade to an HD cable box (a must to have the full experience of HD television).

all in all, this was a great purchase. the quality is amazing, design is sleek and compact, and a wonderful product.

  3. Chose this TV after months on reading reviews, watching friend's TVs and in-store TVs. Very happy with the Sharp. Works great with upconverting and normal DVD. Also was very pleasantly suprised with the clarity of off-air TV with my 20 year old bunny ears - digital stations are so much better than anything I ever got with my old tube TV and very clear w/ RD and HD signals - and I live 20+ miles from the broadcasts. No prolems at all. Like many other reviewers, the sound is ok, but am happy I got surround sound system in addition to TV (combo DVD, radio/stereo, surround, mp3 input). Again very happy - and do not miss or regret 1080p at all!

  4. I bought this television five months ago, and could not be happier. My buddy bought a 41 inch 1080p LG at the same time, and i can not see one single bit of difference in picture quality between the two. Xbox 360 looks every bit as good in 1080i on my tv as PS3 does in 1080p on his, same with hd cable tv and blu ray. All in all, this is the largest size 720p set you can buy with no difference in picture, and i swear to you that there is absolutely NO difference. I love this tv, i dont quite understand the opc setting, as it dims and brightens the picture according to darkness, but is sort of annoying so i leave it off, and the only other problem is the cord falls out when you move the television, but how often do you do that. I now swear by sharp, and i had previously had a very strong loyalty to samsung. Another buddy is a sony guy, and he is planning on a sharp next time around, even though he had just purchased a 1080p sony. Out of the box, it is so bright it hurt my eyes, which is good...which is good. The color and blacks are amazing. Dont hesitate for a second to buy this set, you will not be sorry.

  5. I LOVE my new tv. I got it because it fit in my space good and I am amazed at how good it looks and sounds. I would highly recommend this tv. I think for a TV under 40" you don't really need the 1080 dpi. I did a lot of research and this is teh one I got it is sweet!

  1. The review in Consumer Reports influenced our decision to buy an Olevia and we are very pleased with the monitor. We aren't TV watchers, but we do watch DVD's and the picture quality from this monitor is very good. It's clear and detailed. Also, the monitor is in a very bright room and the picture is not adversely affected by the brightness. And, the good price also made the buy very appealing!

  2. This LCD is packed with great features, fantastic picture quality and connects right to your cable box so you don't need a tuner anyway! It has an easy wheel menu for your settings, you can adjust the picture to the brightness of the room and it's a snap to connect your DVD player and HD and I can even hook my laptop to it for a huge monitor. I can't say enough good things about this product. Olevia is soon to be a force to be reckoned with in the electronics world if they keep coming up with products of this quality and value!

  3. for no reason we can identify the video aspect of this display just died and flickers back and forth between red/blue/green/white/black. It was not dropped, there was no power surge, and it was very carefully handled. Just took it off the base to wall mount it and now dead. Would not buy another one.

  1. I have had this set for 1 year next week and LOVE IT. I have not had one single problem with it. The picture is killer and the features are simple to use. The only thing I dislike is the audio could be a little better, so I went out and purchased a surround sound to fix that problem. When I decide to upgrade to a larger viewing size in the next year or so, Toshiba will defiantly be on top of my list of brands.

  2. This is our Tax Refund gift to our family, purchased in March of 2007. The TV retails for around $1200 nearly every where you look, but we were able to find it for less than $930. The best price I have found on the net is $730.

I would highly recommend this TV to anyone looking for a great, great picture and average sound. If sound is terribly important to you, you already own a surround sound system.

My bulb did blow nine months into owning it... not sure how many hours, but I know it is on nearly all day! I called Toshiba and they are processing the replacement bulb to be sent to me now (under warranty). Someone complained that bulbs cost $600... that's nonsense - before Toshiba came through I priced them as low as $229.00 No, I don't want to pay that every nine months; I think I could find the bulb for less down the road and I did save substantially in the initial purchase.

  3. YES, IT WAS REFURBISHED BUT WITHIN 6 MONTHS I HAD TO BUY NEW LAMP KIT FOR ALMOST $300 THEN A BLACK MARK APPEARED AT TOP OF SCREEN & IT WILL COSTS $600 TO FIX IT!!! ABSOLUTELY NO GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM TOSHIBA AFTER LETTERS, EMAILS & CALLS. WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY.

  4. Its a great TV, good price for the size, but that low price hides the hidden cost.

The $250 lamps. They last about year, (I got 18 months out of mine). You are essentially buying a $250 halogen lamp that should cost $50. So yah, its planned thing, a way for Toshiba to milk more money out of you. And any time they want to force you to buy a new TV all the need to do is stop making that lamp.

Spend a bit more on a LCD TV, or another brand entirely.

It does get 2 stars for being a good TV, as long as you pay the yearly "subscription" charge to use it.

  5. First off, I love this TV! I play a lot of video games and watch blu-ray movies and the picture quality is very good. whoever says that it's not is full of it. I have a 1080p tv also and they are very close in picture quality. I have owned this tv for about 19 months now and have not had to change a bulb yet. I would recomend this tv to everyone. For the ones who have had to replace their bulbs, I think you just got a bad apple....it happens with all tv's, even the best. good luck

  1. I will say that do not order any big item such as this TV from Amazon. Once your order, you can not return or cancel. Second day after my order, I decided to cancel the order. I was told that I could not cancel it but I can refuse the shipment. Guess what, after I told the shipping company that, Amazon asked me to pay for the shipping twice. Besides Amazon's price not being competitive, the customer support is lacking all the help you can get. Do not order any Projection TV from Amazon, unless you are planning to cancel or change your mind. It is a terrible web experience. I will not order it again from Amazon.

  2. Inputs:
It's a big TV, and has lots of inputs. The single HDMI input is a weakness of this set, as there are warnings not to use it with a computer. The 65H94 model has even more inputs, such as Firewire (IEEE 1394).

    Screen:
The image is beautiful, but the screen protector has a lot of glare, enough that we have to put shades on the windows. Convergence had to be adjusted; it is fairly easy (it's digital) but takes patience (there are a lot of adjustment points, and you have to do red horizontal, vertical, and blue horizontal and vertical).

    Video modes:
The natural mode results in grey areas, which the manual warns can result in burn-in. The other modes clip part of the picture. The only mode that doesn't, distorts the image (proportions are not kept). I wish there had been a mode that filled the screen as much as possible without distorting the image (even if a little of grey showed up).

    Sound:
The sound is surprisingly good (especially for a single driver on each side) and has a lot of bass on the "low" option.

Note that the top of the TV isn't flat, there is no place to put stuff on. My previous TV top could hold the VCR, DVD player, etc..., but not this one.

    Overall, a good value.

  3. This TV is everything I could have hoped for in Home Theater. DVDs never looked so good with an HDMI dvd player. It looks great, sounds great and is perfect in my movie room. Thanks Toshiba!

  4. This tv is the best. We love it and have nothing bad to say about it!
