5 comments about Mitsubishi LT-40134 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV.
  1. This Tv has an impressive design that fits perfectly in any decor. Also has an outstanding picture quality, vibrant colors and incredible edge definition.

  2. Received defective Tv from 6th ave electronics. Mitsubishi refused to accept swap. Mitsusbishi has the Tv for last 20 days and has no update on repairs. Buyer beware.

  3. Don't bother with this TV. Mitsubishi's support for its product is nothing short of pathetic. I purchased this TV last month, only to have a small horizontal blacked out line show up in the display within the first week or so of use. Following all of the warranty instructions, I called Mitsubishi. Their local service center picked it up, called me a week later and told me it could only be fixed if a new LCD panel were provided. I was told I had to call Mitsubishi myself. Upon being called, Mitsubishi's agent claimed that the LCD panel was not within the warranty -- even though the warranty itself has no such exclusion, but covers all parts and labor. So if you want a $1700 paperweight, this is the TV for you. Otherwise, stick with another manufacturer.

  4. I bought this TV two months ago, and I'm very happy with it. The picture is excellent with HD programming (1080i and 720p,) and even with 480p inputs. As for analog signals, well, it's as good as I've seen, but you just have to accept that plain old TV will never look that good on a HDTV. I've also hooked the TV up to a Dell computer with a DVI to HDMI cable, and get a brilliant 1080p picture. The computer runs Vista Media Center using digital cable tuners with cable cards, and the picture is superb from this setup, much better than the component input picture from my Comcast cable box.

The TV automatically recognizes most things you plug in, and sets up the input for you. I haven't used the universal remote features, as I have a Harmony remote, so I can't comment on those, but the remote seems reasonably easy to use. The menus are pretty easy to navigate, but if you linger too long in changing a setting the menu goes away; this can be a bit frustrating.

The only negative I've seen so far is that I can see variations in the screen surface, like bands, but these only show up when there is sunlight reflecting off the screen. They're invisible at night, or when the sunlight isn't very bright. I also wish the TV had picture-in-picture (PIP,) but that's not a knock on what's in the TV as it is.

The TV appealed to me as it needed to fit in an armoire that has a 37 inch platform. It just barely fits, but I got the maximum screen size I could fit in the armoire, so I'm happy. I'd have had to settle for a 37 inch screen otherwise. I'd definitely recommend the TV to anyone looking for a 40 inch LCD screen.

  5. I own a larger Mitsubishi LT-46231 that is the best tv I ever had...so when I went shopping for a 40 inch for the bedroom at BestBuy I found they did not sell the LT-40134...I purchased a SonyV3000...what a nightmare...motion blur that was the worst I have ever seen ..auto dim..a feature to hide the clouding that plagues Sony sets...color I could never get right after tweaking non-stop for 3 weeks...I gave up and returned it to BestBuy...then I had an idea I called Paul's tv to see if they sold the LT-40134...they had one left...I got a great deal...when it was delivered I used the same settings that I used for my LT-46231...perfection....here are some of the features:

Lush beautiful natural color due to Perfect color and Perfect tint ...more color than the average set..I adjusted the color once and I am done...a sparkle in the HD that sets it apart...no clouds...no bands...

    Swivel base

Built in TVguide for the cable input without the box

easy setup it walks you through...

    4 HDMI 1.3 inputs...

A one inch bezel all the way around which fits into a smaller space with no screen space loss

Both my Mitsubishi's put any other brand to shame...I have owned 4 HD sets...an LG which was awful...a Panasonic which ended up being too small...I now have found the sets I can brag about...I highly recommend this set..it's wonderful...

  1. Although when the box arrived it looked like the enclosed TV would be in pieces, it was unharmed. Setup was a snap. Others have commented that the menus are very slow, but I didn't find this to the the case. I connected Comcast expanded basic cable and was able to auto-detect all the analog and unencrypted digital channels. Removal of the foreign-language, home shopping, and unused digital channels from the line up went well, except that there are so many channels it took some time.

I have also connected a GameCube using the component video cable, a Wii again using the component video cable, an Oppo DVD player using HDMI, and an Apple notebook via DVI. All have worked flawlessly. The only negative is that there is NO 1080p content out there right now to judge the true brilliance of this TV. 720p looks fabulous.

  2. This is a great TV. The picture clarity while watching hockey and football is remarkable. There is a slight fan noise, associated with this type of TV, that I didn't have with my old CRT TV. This TV has plenty of connections including HDMI and DVI. I had to use the DVI(computer) connection between my cable box and the TV because Comcast doesn't have an HDMI output unless you rent the cable box that has a built in recorder. If you already have a DVD recorder you may not want to pay $5 a month more to rent one from Comcast. Comcast will give you a DVI to HDMI converter cable that will not work with this TV. The customer service at Sharp in clearing up this connectivity problem was great. One phone call. This was after two trips to the Comcast office and four phone calls to Comcast customer service.
I am glad I bought this TV.

  3. The TV was delivered just when promised. It was a great price and I checked extensively before ordering. I am very pleased with the process.

  4. I am very satisfied with the Sharp Aquos I purchased from LCD Mart through Amazon. I received the product on time and in great condition. I received a follow up call to see if everything was in order.

  5. Have had this TV for over a year now and I still ooh and aah while watching football, or anything for that matter. We have a very open living room with tons of sunlight coming in and you can still see the picture perfectly. Recently tried hooking up my PC to the back which was really neat - it functions just like a world-class computer monitor - wish I could afford one for the office. Fantastic product.

  1. I am only going to say this thing is phenominal, you have to see it, to believe it! The HD picture will blow you away!

  2. I purchased this Toshiba because I wanted to upgrade my big-black-box of a 29 inch TV. I was going to wait until next Summer but circumstances prevailed and I am very happy with this set. The picture is visually as big as the 29 inch television. It took two men to lift the old TV and one hand to lift this TV. Not to mention it's only about four inches thick. A sixteen inch wide by twelve inch deep shelf holds it quite nicely.
The image is excellent for its size, and the color rendition and detail are excellent for the average size room. It's not a hard TV to get used to using (it's HDMI - on a HD Digital cable box) and puts out a magnificent picture. The HD cable feeds show detail and color that is excellent. Ben Hur was on regular cable today and the color rendition was better than any version I ever watched.
My DVD is on an "S" connector but I watched Akira Kurasawa's RAN (CHAOS) the other day and saw details that astounded me. The reds are vivid and the yellows blinding. On C-Span's Washington Journal you can see the colors of the capital building as the sun rises.
The sound is excellent right out of the TV itself. You can hear "echos" and "reverbs" when the source is good stereo. In about 6 months I will add amplifier and five channel sound speakers. I am very satisfied with this purchase. My Mother had to spend a month at my house after heart surgery and she loved watching the football games on this TV. She even joked about taking it home with her and she is NOT a TV person.

    Things you should know:
    1) the HDMI cable is 1/2 inch thick, sticks out the bottom, requires an adapter for most cable boxes, and obstructs the back panel that is supposed to hide the cables. Nothing will hide that cables.
    2) the "surge protector/filter" is not cheap - I paid $199 for the one I use. But considering it's protecting a $1500 TV, it's worth it. My house has lousy electric and in four years surges have blown two protectors. Also HDTV needs a filter.
    3) Buy good audio cables, I can hear how cheap my older audio cables are when I use the DVD and CD player - especially on orchestral and symphonic music. You don't hear the problems with broadway musicals or pop stuff on DVD and CD, but symphony orchestras and fine movie soundtracks need better cables. I have Digital Music on my cable, too. The all Opera channel is a delight to listen to now.
    4) You need a digital satelite or digital cable HD feed - that requires special boxes and a service call.

  3. First of all of course the quality of the device; It's well built, has pretty much all the inputs you need and has a decent cable management system in the back (you'll need it). Image quality is good but not amazing when in standard resolution, HD quality however is very impressive (hooked up with an HDMI cable). DVD quality when played off a component DVD player is outstanding.

Audio quality of the TV is good, nice and loud with plenty of settings possible.

Switching between inputs leaves a little to be desired, it takes around 2-3 seconds for it to pick up on the input.

    The bad:

I wanted to hang it on a wall, the specs do not mention the VESA mounts it has on the back, the manaual doesn't mention it either. Nor does the manual mention how to dismantle the stand, something you need to do in order to mount it.

The PC interface is fairly useless as it won't let you go above 1024*768, a real shame when you have a 1300*768 panel in front of you.

The TV doesn't come with ANY cables (not even an antenna coax cable) so expect to invest another $200 in decent cables.

Pricing is also an issue, after purchasing this TV the price dropped almost $300 and Amazon wouldn't issue a refund, so keep your eye on the price and/or reseller.

Despite it's few quirks it's certainly an appealing TV and one of the cheaper A name brands in this price class, we researched several non A name brands (like Syntax Olevia) but they don't com e close to the quality of this TV.

  4. ...I bought this LCD TV back in January so I have had several months to determine how much I like it. Bottom line, I love it. We use it in our master bedroom in an armoire and the picture and sound are fantastic. I ran our HD DVR box to the TV using an HDMI cable (pricey but worth it) and the progressive scan DVD player using one set of the component inputs. This is my second Toshiba and I am a huge fan of their TV's.

5 comments about Toshiba MW20F52 20-Inch Flat TV with DVD and VCR.
  1. I started shopping on weekends again at my local and not so local electronics stores perusing the latest TVs and other electronic devices on the market. Toshiba's MW20F52 20" Flat CRT set with DVD and VCR is a very good value. The 24-inch screen is a perfect size to reproduce a pretty vivid and sharp looking picture. That was the first thing I noticed about this set. It took me a minute to realize that the picture source I was watching was from the built-in DVD player. VHS tapes also looked good on this set once I got a demo. The 4-head VHS component was in HiFi and sounded very good. I was really surprised by how well the picture looked. TOSHIBA still makes a good product as this demonstrates. The flat screen held the image pretty true around all the edges and the audio quality was above average delivering good fidelity for both low and high frequencies.

  2. Compared to a Sony, which no longer makes/advertises CRT VHS-DVD TV's, this TV is adequate but laking the Sony picture quality. A decent second choice. In my opinion, better than any other brands currently available. Price was good, I'm satisfied in what I could get.

  3. This TV with DVD and VCR is exactly what we hoped it would be. We didn't want anything too large, because our den is a relatively small room, but we wanted a good picture and a system that would be easy to set up and use, and we definitely needed the VCR as well as the DVD. It's a great combination, and everything works well. The manual explains the operations clearly, and the remote is excellent. We are very, very happy with this TV. We couldn't be happier, and we highly recommend it.

  4. My brother had a stroke 3 years ago, and he needed a tv he could operate w/o always having to reference an instruction manual or searching for various remotes. He likes having everthing right there at his fingertips. He is very happy with his new tv set. Shipping was very speedy and it was in perfect condition.

  5. First of all, this set replaced a sony with a smaler screen. It is used in a bedroom, and thoughtfully integrates the VCR and DVD into one easy to operate, albeit hefty unit. The picture is clear and renders colors well, just a tad less sharp than the sony, but close enough. The sound is very full, and with the front mounted speakers, very clear and can be placed inside a cabinet or shelf without muffling the sound. The tuner can render digital and analog signals, allowing this set to work without a converter box after the Feb. 2009 broadcast changeover to digital. This set was purchased for my 88 year old active mother, and she is very happy with it after more than a year of constant use. The remote is intuitive, except some buttons are small, and can be inadvertently pressed. (activating closed captioning for example) This television has been an ideal choice for a smaller combination unit, from one of the more reliable branda.

5 comments about Toshiba 62HM94 62-Inch 720p DLP HDTV.
  1. I purchased this TV in 2/05. I was initially unimpressed with the picture quality. In standard definition cable signal the picture can appear to varying degrees, a bit out of focus and fuzzy. I was very concerned and called customer service to have the TV looked at. They were very helpful and located a local repair center for me so that I could then call to schedule an in home appointment. I later learned that HDTV's are designed to show there best picture with an HDTV signal. So I upgraded my cable service to HDTV. It made a tremendous difference when viewing a program on an HDTV channel. In high definition the picture is crystal clear with excellent brightness and color. Sound quality is very impressive even when at maximum volume (no distortion). The theatre type sound effect can be improved with the addition of a surround sound system but it is not needed.

One minor fault, I was not able to get the TV Guide feature to work as a previous writer had mentioned

  2. I purchased a Toshiba HDTV and had it fail just after the 2 year warranty expired. Toshiba explained there was nothing they would do back up their product. No TV should fail after 2 years. I recommend selecting another brand, you can get the same performance and price, and end up with a more reliable product.

  3. Before signing and accepting delivery of any Toshiba DLP, be sure to check the screen to make sure that the coating on the inside of the screen is uniform. On mine, there was a circle about 10" in diameter that you can see in certain lighting and even when the TV is off! It will appear lighter than the surrounding areas at times and can be annoying. I called Toshiba and had a service man come out and even though he acknowledged that this is common, Toshiba will not replace the screen. I would have given them a negative 10 if it were possible just because of their attitude. So, look at the screen VERY carefully before accepting or purchasing. If you see this problem, refuse to accept it. Or else just buy a Samsung or Mitsubishi DLP to avoid the problem I have.

  4. When I first purchased this tv the built in tv guide would not work. I called Toshiba and they were very helpful. They sent me a sim upgrade that cleared up the problem. Also the bulb failed while under warranty and they sent me a new bulb to replace the old one. However I am concerned that the bulb would fail with just under a year of duty.

Overall the picture is very good, and in HDTV the picture is incredible. Watching movies is a sheer delight.

My only complaints at this time are that the TV will not auto skip channels for which there is no reception, and it takes a good 5 to 10 seconds to change channels when surfing, a real annoyance. They really need some kind of autoprogramming feature that you find with most TV sets today.

Overall, a wonderful picture and customer service was quite good, unlike some of the other experiences posted. Changing channels if you don't know where you want to go can be realllllly frustrating.

  5. I have this Tv for two years and the HD picture is great. I love this Tv. I have relatives that own 50 inch DLP samsung and another that owns 50 inch lcd sony. The picture in my set is sharper and the colors are more natural. The only negative in this TV is I couldn.t get the built in Tv guide to work. I would recomend this tv to anyone looking for a large screen TV.

  1. The review in Consumer Reports influenced our decision to buy an Olevia and we are very pleased with the monitor. We aren't TV watchers, but we do watch DVD's and the picture quality from this monitor is very good. It's clear and detailed. Also, the monitor is in a very bright room and the picture is not adversely affected by the brightness. And, the good price also made the buy very appealing!

  2. This LCD is packed with great features, fantastic picture quality and connects right to your cable box so you don't need a tuner anyway! It has an easy wheel menu for your settings, you can adjust the picture to the brightness of the room and it's a snap to connect your DVD player and HD and I can even hook my laptop to it for a huge monitor. I can't say enough good things about this product. Olevia is soon to be a force to be reckoned with in the electronics world if they keep coming up with products of this quality and value!

  3. for no reason we can identify the video aspect of this display just died and flickers back and forth between red/blue/green/white/black. It was not dropped, there was no power surge, and it was very carefully handled. Just took it off the base to wall mount it and now dead. Would not buy another one.

  1. I bought this tv a few months ago after a lot of debate. Sony always seemed to be the more expensive product, then it went on sale. 13,999 was the sale. after having to buy the necessary stand for 200, the sale price kind of vanished. Keep in mind that you will need some sort of stand for this unit as it sits too low for good viewing angle without it. The picture is great. As most people say, unless you have a good cable signal, the flaws will be very evident. But I bought this for movies. DVD's look awesome!! I only wish it was widescreen as most all dvd's come in 16:9 format. I know, why did I buy a 4:6 aspect then? Well, I don't like how if you are watching normal tv and the picture is cut down. I would definitely recommend this tv to others, but I would warn people to weigh their priorities.

  2. Great TV. I have had it for a little while but I would not trade it for anything in the wordl. I am able to experience my sports the way I imagined it should be I ahave no complaints and would recommend it to all who are avid TV watchers and do not want to spend thousands of dollars.

  3. Anyone having trouble with this set? My grandmothers looks very dim now, whereas I believe it looked much better in the past. I guess she may need a new bulb

  4. after 8.5 years, the tv finally died on me. it was time to upgrade to 1080p and hdmi anyway!

  1. I bought my Sony Grand Wega 60" TV in March. Up until 4 days ago I enjoyed the most beautiful picture quality that anyone could ask for. While I was watching a program in High definition and surround sound, everything went black. The bulb went out. I have kinda been expecting this after reading all the problems that Sony has been having with the bulbs going out. There is a article in HOME THEATER MAGAZINE, That states the Sony engineering team has found that there is a combination issue between the lamp and the circuitry in the lamp block, causing the inability for the TV lamp to power on. A service bulletin has been issued authorizing Sony Service Centers and Authorized Service Centers to replace the lamp and /or lamp block in affected units at no cost to the consumer.Consumers who may be experiencing this symptom should contact Sony at (800) 222-sony to schedule a service call.

It's been about a year and a half since Sony replaced the bulb in my TV and it's still going strong. I am still totally in love with it. Four of my friends bought the same TV after viewing mine. I couldn't live without it now. I ended up buying a 850 watt 5.1 surround sound system from Sony too. My home theatre is so much better then going to the movies. I have people comming over all the time to my CINEMA They say it's FANTASTIC !!

  2. I love this TV. Period. I paid $3,499 for it at a franchise electronics store; it was delivered four days later; and now I can't wait to get home from work every night and watch it. Watching a high quality DVD through one of the two HD inputs is an awesome experience.

At the store, I looked at it next to a Mitsubishi 65" CRT and a Samsung 55" plasma. It annihilated the CRT and held its own with the plasma (for about half the price of the plasma). That is what sold me.

It has just the right number of inputs for my AV system. The picture quality for HD input is incredible. For SD inputs, it is so-so, but that is mostly the lower quality signal.
It is also a great looking cabinet.

I had read that Sony had some problems with the model's lamp blowing out earlier this year, but I understood that was fixed; so I took a chance. My unit has a June 2004 manufacturing date, and I have had it about a week now. No problems; just a beautiful picture at a very affordable price.

  3. I've had mine since last May and I love it. I just had the picture calibrate and it's even greater I didn't think it was possible but it's absolutly the best picture you could possibly get in HD AND DVD I've always been a Mits. tv owner but I'm glad I went with this SONY model. [...]. You wouln't belive how it looks after he is done. WOW is all I can really say. I also have the HR10-250 HD TIVO and I can watch all recorded shows in HD and you can't even tell they are recorded they look just like your watching a live show instead of having that taped look. Well when I seen this board I had to write because I wouln't be doing all of you a favor by giving you a heads up on this TV I also looked and searched before I bought this. I wanna say that if you are going to spend thousands of dollars on any HDTV you should spend the extra 400 to 500 dollars to have it ISF CALIBRATE I didn't know this man at all but he had some great reviews on HDTVoice.com he travels all over the country so you have to set up an appointment. Again to anyone who has or is gonna buy a HDTV you should put into your budget the cost to get it calibrate it makes such a difference. WELL ENJOY I WATCH EVERYTHING IN HIGH DEF NOW AND IT'S GREAT SO I HOPE AND WISH ALL OF YOU WELL ON YOUR JORNEY TO YOUR NEW WORLD OF TV WATCHING IN HIGH DEF. [...]

  4. We bought this television in Jan. 04 and have never had any problems with it. The picture is outstanding and no problems with the sound. We have hdtv cable so maybe that helps. I hope by writing this review I don't jinx myself. I would buy this t.v. again. Don't let the negative reviews bother you---we are quite happy.

  5. My Sony Vega 60 inch operated for only ten months when the screen went black. It appears to be the lamp b/c the lamp light is blinking. Sony has said it is NOT going to honor the warranty, even though the tv operated for only ten months, b/c the warranty takes effect from the date of purchase, not the date of install. I called 3 days out of the warranty. So even though I can prove the tv was still in the box at the store, I have to pay myself this expense. No TV that costs this much should operate only ten months. SONY YOU SUCK.
