  1. Don't buy SAMSUNG! They don't accept return if you have any problem!

I bought 50" DLP Samsung TV on 03/31/2008 from Buy.com. At that time, Buy.com said "return directly to manufacturer" policy. Two weeks ago, the TV had big problem: the voice volume always staying at 0, and so many function doesn't work, for example, you can't change from TV channel to DVD; power couldn't be turn off by remote. I called SAMsung customer service, they said they can only fix it and I can't return it. How could I know the policy before I get the manual? I called the repair department. One guy said he need order one part. Another week passed, no any information.

My family already no TV for two weeks. It is unfair to me. I need a new TV, while after repair it is a refurbished TV and will be out of one year warrenty.

If I buy the TV from Costco, bestbuy CC, I can return it easily.

I already filed complaint to BBB.

  2. It replaces a 55"CRT RP Mitsubishi that I purchased in March of 2002 with an extended warranty from Sears it started rolling and after 3 new boards and 4 efforts to repair it they offered me up to 2K toward any TV that Sears sells. So I went online and found the Samsung for $2499 so I called the repair center and said I wanted it they called me the next day and said it would cost me $375since Sears had reduced it to $2375 so I gave her my credit card number and Sears delivered it the next day. They brought it in and took out my old one it took me about two hours and it was up and running with the factory settings and looks fabulous. The only problem was I had to go out a buy a TV stand which ran another $300, when I found I could not get the box out of my car called my son and told him my problem, he said OH NO you bought a projection, you should have got a LCD, but he did come over and help his stupid father take the table upstairs and put it together. He then said lets take a look at what you bought, he could not believe his eyes, and he said that is much better than my 50" Toshiba Plasma set. So I have only had it for a day and have not looked at the manual, but I have not found one flaw so far. I only have a Comcast HD set top box; a TivoHD and DVD player hooked up to it but all 3 have great pictures.

  3. My TV arrived several days ahead of the anticipated delivery date. Delivery truck had two people and they did an excellent job bringing the TV into the house, unpacking it and setting it on the stand and then making sure it powered up. They suggested that I keep the box just in case I needed to return the TV in the next few weeks.

I am very pleased with this television. I had read on some web forums about people having issues with bowing or the display being tilted but mine is fine and doesn't show either of those issues. This is my first HD tv and I am replacing a 61" Philips projection TV that had served me well since 1999 so getting another projection TV was not anything that I was concerned about. You get a lot of screen for less money than plasma or LCD. The difference in picture quality between the two is like night and day. The new Samsung's hi-def pictures are amazing. I have standard definition satellite and even that looks better to me than on the older Philips tv. I do not have a Blu-ray player but did buy an upconverting DVD player to play my 100+ collection of DVD's and the picture looks so much better than playing them through a standard DVD player that I can only imagine how things will look when I finally get a Blu-ray player.
Overall, I would give this TV 5-stars.

  4. The HL67A750 is replacing a Sony KDP65WS550 that I've had for three years that had some burn in and recently developed problem of shutting itself down and not coming back on for at least 24 hours. Other than the burn in I thought it had an excellent picture. Was I ever wrong. After using Avia 2 to set up the video, the picture, especially fed from my Toshiba HD-A30 is simply superb. I've got twice the tv I had, for 1/3 less.

And it was delivered 5 days sooner than Amazon said it would be!

  5. This tv is really great. The HD picture is the best and brightest I've seen. You can't go wrong with the TV the prices at Amazon were much lower than any store in my area. We love this tv so much we also have the 61" and my son has the 50". The 67" tv fit on my bedroom dresser and is just right for watching tv in the bedroom. It wasen't too heavy to carry up the stairs. And Super easy to set up.

  1. Pros: A fairly decent set. Easy to set up and get going. Very sensitive analog and digital tuners. Good picture.
Cons: Don't buy this set if you use an outdoor antenna with rotator. The set does an "autoscan" to acquire and memorize all analog and digital channels with the antenna pointed in one direction. If you rotate the antenna to another position, you can manually enter analog channels into memory from the remote's keypad, but NOT the digital channels. In order to view the digital channels at the new antenna heading, you must perform the "autoscan" again... takes about 2 minutes... and the "autoscan" erases and replaces the channels memorized from the original antenna heading. Verified this performance issue with Samsung Tech support. Verified this flaw with sets in two dealer showrooms with Samsung HDTVs. No solution available. Sony and other sets worked fine for manual digital channel entry. This is a serious drawback for an otherwise good set.

  2. We bought this Samsung LN19A330 to replace an old tube TV we had in our home office. WOW! Even in full sunlight, the picture on this 19" Samsung LCD is perfect. We have an older model of the same TV in our guest bedroom, and the difference in the newer model is clearly visible -- brighter screen, more intense contrast, and the color is significantly more vivid. It is the perfect TV for a small room.

  3. This is my second Samsung flat screen -- the picture is perfect. This is a compact unit with a glossy black frame -- bought it for my guest room and it is hooked up to FIOS (Verizon) -- I am completely satisfied with this purchase from Amazon.

  4. We bought this tv for the kitchen. We use it with Rabbit Ears and it works very well. The HD picture is excellent. Non HD are not very good. Audio is OK. Over all a good TV if you need one of this size. I suspect they may be a little over priced.

  5. This is a very good budget LCD TV for use in a kitchen, dorm room, small bedroom. 720p resolution is perfectly fine for a TV in this size (19"). The colors and picture look great with a bit of calibration (I found the default settings to be a bit too bright). There were enough A/V connections for me, although the audio from the built-in speakers is only adequate at best (but what else can one expect from a built-in audio system?). There are other models, both from Samsung and others, with more bells and whistles, but if you're looking for a good basic small LCD TV, this one is definitely worth considering.

  1. When I first saw this HDTV I was at Best Buy. It stopped me in my tracks because the picture was excellent. There are plenty of inputs to choose from. It also Energy Star compliant which isn't well known. This unit hardly uses any electricity at all when not in use. If you get this tv you will not be disappointed.

  2. Wow! I picked this up from Amazon for $1004 shipped and they threw in a free HD Tivo unit. Doing some creative "man-math", I sold the Tivo and my old 36" Sony Wega XBR for $440.

    Net price on this $564!!!

We have it hooked up to a Samsung upconvert DVD player, and I swear it makes my old DVD's look like full HD Blu-Ray!

Very very happy with this set.

  3. Great Tv did a lot of shopping, and went with the Samsung due to great reviews, also Samsungs seem brighter.

  4. Good Picture and delivered promptly. easy to set up and operate. Installation instructions were good and easy to follow.

  5. Great picture quality, decent price, and that's all one really needs to say.
I compared the picture quality with a high-rated sony model and what I like better about the Samsung is the truer-to-life colors. I find the sony skin tones to be more orange and wax-like, while the Samsung just gets it right for my taste.
    Way to go.

  1. Excellent picture quality, very easy to setup, Anynet feature works great with Samsung DVD1080P8 as well as ATT Uverse remote. The picture is so good it beats LCD model. I did my research well and find that the picture on this TV is comparable to Samsung series 6 LCD and just as good as Sony XBR4. The contrast level is very good even in bright room. It does take a few second when you turn it on to reach the full brightness but it doesn't bother me at all. The best thing is the price is about half of LCD of the same size and one third of Sony XBR....you can't beat that. Amazon white glove delivery is great and they call to set up delivery at my convenience and 2 days before schedule...that was excellent.

  2. Then this is perfect, especially if you want to pay less than $1200 (that's right LESS than $1200) for that beautiful picture. If you are ever going to want to wall-mount your TV, then this is NOT for you. I have no such plans so this TV perfect for me. This might just be the perfect TV for you as well.

I got to watch the "LOST" season finale (Season 4 - on May 29) on this beauty in HD. Absolutely beautiful. This TV was made for shows like that. The 3 women I watched the finale with (who know next to nothing about HDTVs) kept on talking about the quality of the picture. I've also found that it works pretty well on the shows / stations that are not yet broadcast in HD, but let's face it: this TV was meant for HD. HD programming (from Comcast - my cable provider) ranges from "a little better than non-HD" to "breathtakingly beautiful" depending on what you are watching. I've had more than a few "Whoah" moments, both in watching HDTV programming and in watching my DVDs on the Samsung DVD-1080P8 (1080p Upconverting DVD Player). So far I've just gotten to watch Transformers and bits and pieces of the original Star Wars Trilogy (2004 DVD release) and I have just loved it.

    Here is my full set-up:
Samsung HL50A650 50-inch 1080p Slim DLP HDTV - the product I am reviewing.
HDMI 2M (6 Feet) Super High Resolution Cable - currently my only connections to the TV - very inexpensive/cheap through Amazon!
Samsung DVD-1080P8 1080p Upconverting DVD Player - hooked up to the TV with one HDMI cable.
Comcast HD (local cable provider - not through Amazon) - plugged in, coaxial cable from wall to box, one HDMI cable from box to TV.
Prepac BPS-6000 - TV stand for up to 60" TVs - my girlfriend bought this, but not through Amazon.

    Observations / POINTERS / WARNINGS:
    - Don't forget to get an HD BOX from your cable / satellite company. Just because you already have a Cable/Satellite Box doesn't mean that the box is capable of broadcasting an HDTV signal. It may cost a little extra (over your existing cable/satellite bill - in our case, around $7 extra each month) to get HD programming.
    - Don't forget to CALL your cable company to get that HD box ACTIVATED. Just because you already have a subscription (or an older box) doesn't mean that just "plugging" in the new box will make it work.
    - It may take time for the new programming to load up to your Cable box, so make sure call and get it activated AT LEAST an hour before the show that you want to watch.
    - You may want to get a TV stand that is at least 20" high (many start at lower than this). Many people (including I) like to watch their HDTV a little bit higher up, to get more of the "movie theater" feel and to still appreciate optimal viewing when they're standing up (not sitting on their comfy couches). The Prepac BPS-6000 starts at 26" high, which suits me just fine!
    - On the remote: The "Source" button is probably necessary (at least initially), The E-mode button is cool, but I just LOVE the P-size button / function. You may too! The P-size button gives you the option to slightly "stretch" non-HD 4:3 programming to fit your 16:9 ratio screen. It does the same for your standard 2.35:1 movie programming (removing letterbox and "stretching" the picture out). You may or may not like this option. If you do use it, make sure to go back to the 16:9 setting before watching HD programming!
    - My two very MINOR annoyances with the TV: 1) When the room is pitch black (other than the TV), I sometimes noticed some light from the back of the TV. I usually am too distracted by what's actually on the TV to notice. 2) When the room is very dark, the picture may actually be too bright for you (at the standard setting). You can easily play around with the "E-mode" or other settings.

That's it. Enjoy your new HDTV!

  3. It's my first hd tv and I have to tell you that it rocks. It's definately worth the money to go out and get one.

  4. TV looks so shape in 720P even sharper in 1080I 60 fps. 1080P 90 FPS should look even better.

I hooked my old computer up to the TV and watched the A team off netflex with it.
I listen in 5.1 sound that comes with HD Brardcast!!!

  1. Just got my 5020 last week and this is the best TV that I have seen. I did a lot of research at high end stores and the side by side comparisons with the older 5010 model vs. any other tv (lcd or plasma) wasn't even close. I was looking at the newest Samsung plasmas and LCD's (Toc) but the black levels on the Pioneer really made a big difference. I even asked my 10 year old son to pick the tv with the best picture and he chose the Pioneer. I really wanted to buy the Samsung LCD (Toc) but couldn't get myself to do it knowing the Pioneer's picture was better. I think I would have regretted it later.
The 5020 is thinner than the 5010 and has the newest HDMI 1.3a inputs. I hooked this TV to a brand new Onkyo 606 which is HDMI 1.3a compliant, Time Warner DVR, and a PS3. All I needed was 3 HDMI cables for the entire system.
This TV has the best black levels i have seen which makes the colors really pop and gives more depth to the picture. The TV makes the high def content more 3 dimensional. At this price, you can't go wrong with this plasma. In addition, this will be the last year that Pioneer makes their own screens.

  1. After ordering and receiving this product I was a little disappointed at the lack of 120hz and some other info that amazon gave that was false.
I thought about returning it and going with the LN32A550, but I decided against it and kept the 650.

This T.V. has expectational picture quality on HD channels, but the regular SD look a little grainy, but what T.V. isn't like that?

Xbox 360 via HDMI looks amazing, just wish I could have had that 120hz.

I also plug my Dell XPS M1330 laptop in via HDMI and surf the internet in full HD glory :)

Great T.V. even if I had my hopes up for more with the advertising Amazon did.

    Would recommend. :)

  2. Samsung...
The ln32a650 is a fantastic TV. Nice sharp Picture, Good sound. easy to setup and use.

    Amazon...
The customer service is very poor. Did not want to honor price guarantee.

    CEVA... (shipping, Amazons choice)
Terrible! TV sat on dock in Reno for 4 days, LAX for 6 days, CEVA promised arrival on 05/09/08 shipment arrived 05/14/08.

I suggest you not do business with Amazon until thsy address some of these issues.

  3. This is our first LCD HDTV. We have Verizon FiOS cable and the pictures are great! The sound is wonderful too. We were very happy with the delivery by Amazon and the gentleman who delivered it. Dave Gregory.

  1. Very seldom do I ever buy something without doing my research first. Especially when it comes to technology. This television set was one of many that I had my eye on. It was in my price range, a good size, and had a black border. Obviously I ultimately decided on this one and I'm VERY glad that I did. The sound quality is great right fromt the television, the picture is phenominal (it's an HD...duh), and it automatically resizes the screen back to sidebar if you're just watching standard channels.

The only thing I would warn people about is the universal remote function. Being in the United States, I have Comcast for my service. The Comcast remotes that come with the boxes do NOT work on this television as of 5/20/2008. This may change in the future because the companies are always releasing new codes out however, they do not work right now. So if you're okay with a great looking tv but have to use two remotes: this is a great set for you!

  2. I bought this for my dorm room next year so I am expecting to play video games and watch tv with it. I have tested it out with my xbox and playstation and so far the picture quality has been great. I definitely recommend this to anyone who wants an affordable tv with a good picture

  3. I received this as a present this past Christmas and put it in a small bedroom where the viewing distance was about 8 feet away and it was fine. Nice clean picture using co-ax cables but they don't give you a choice. There are NO HDMI inputs on this unit so there's no way to get true HD. Component cables are kinda of cumbersome from a cable box so I went with co-ax. In all honesty I still love the TV. It's very easy to move around and has a pretty good sound all on it's own. If the price was right, I'd buy another one.

  1. We have searched high and low for the best tv we could find that would fit our budget. We wanted a brand we could trust. That is why we went with this tv. Packaging was great shipping was great. But the family was blown away with the first movie we watched on it (National Treasure2) We now all fight to who gets to use it.Set up was a breeze. We also use it for gaming. When we play 4 player games it is like watching a 4 seperate 20 inch screens.

  2. I did alot of research on Plasma's on LCD TV's. I always felt plasma's look slightly better plus they were cheaper. I was worried about some of the horror stories i read on plasmas. Anyway i've had this TV for 2 months now. This what i think of it so far...
    Pros:
Antiglare screen (does a good job even though my tv is in a bad spot)
Picture- Very sharp looking with HD signals(Blue-ray and Cable HD
Non-HD channels lookg pretty good too.
Multiple Anti-Burn in tools- easy to use
    Price

    Cons:
Burn-in happens pretty fast. If something is on your screen for more then 15 mins it will get burned in.(But you can only see it on VERY light colors)
Speakers kinda suck.(Most people who get this size tv get some kind audio system too though)

Even though this is probably just my bad luck but one of my pixels became stuck in blue. Hopefully it will be the only one.

  3. I was at first very pleased with this set. Great picture, great delivery from Amazon.

But then I began noticing 'burn-in' issues. The first I noticed was two vertical stripes, both about 5 inches in from the sides. Then I noticed that CNNHD was also burned in, even though I don't leave it on there for long periods of time. I also have the burn-in protection set, and I've run both the suggested fixes (all white and scrolling) with neither helping.

Contacted Samsung and they agreed that it shouldn't be happening. Currently waiting for local repair shop set up by Samsung to attempt a fix.

  4. i was very pleased with my plasma tv when i connected my satelite hd receiver to it. the picture quality is unbelievable and unmatched. the shipment and delivery was superb, the tv arrived a few days earlier than stated, and the delivery company contacted me and asked if i would like to recieve my tv tomorrow which was a few days sooner than anticipated. the delivery guy did it all, deliver,unpacked,set-up,tested for flaws, removed unwanted packaging material. great job amazon.

  5. Amazing picture with great color. My wife and I constantly marvel at how beautiful the picture is as we watch television. I like everything about it. The sound is not fantastic but it isn't supposed to be...exceeds my expectations in almost every way.

The DirecTV HD signals look gorgeous. 720P is a great value for the price. I don't see how I could have a better picture.

  1. Have been looking to upgrade a kitchen set and add the DVD player all in one shot. Reviewed and looked at a number of sets from all the usual suspects. This one got the selection due to price, features, name and quality (have 32" "tube" TV and DVD player that are Toshiba as well as past laptops). Ordered on a Wednesday received on Friday (Supersaver is superfast!). We have enjoyed it so much we end up watching more TV in the kitchen then ever. DVD player is great and the whole setup was so easy. Our basic cable included 15 HD channels that the tuner picked up immediately and we were watching our first at home HDTV shows and concerts (love HDNet) right away. This will push me into a larger set in the living room a lot faster than I thought as the difference in picture quality is so much better that all I want to watch is stuff that comes in HD. Oh well X-mas is right around the corner. Picture quality, as you might guess is great, ease of operation has been no problem for this babby boomer. Just a great 19 inch combo that fills the bill on what you would want out of a 19 inch.

  2. Looks great, works great, installed with wall mount in the kitchen for 180 degree viewing. Meets all our expectations.

  3. Looks great. Has much better picture than comparable home brands of same size from Best Buy, etc. Replaces a bedroom 13" CRT w/VHS player. Brings in off-the-air analog and digital signals just fine. DVD picture quality is great, too. I've read other reviews which said sound quality was sub-par, but we think it's fine for our purposes. I'd recommend it to a friend.

  4. The picture quality on this TV is excellent. I am currently on analog with substandard cable and a splitter in the attic (older house) and it still shows a nice picture HOWEVER the sound quality is not good. It is very disappointing. It takes the points away from the very nice picture. I have to turn the sound all the way up (100%) sometimes just to hear it good. I've never had to turn the sound all the way up on any TV. I am sensitive to sound. I'm usually turning sound down on TV's. I even mute commercials because I don't want to hear the sound. The sound I do hear is "tinny". I've played with the bass and treble and balance on the menu but it's still not what I feel it should be. I have cheaper brand TV's where the sound is much better. I'm so disappointed because I have a 37" Toshiba LCD TV in the living room and the sound on that one is fine. Don't know what happened here. I've considered returning it but I already threw the box away. I should have waited.

  5. We replaced an older panasonic 15" w/dvd in our kitchen with this unit and it was a big step up. No more squinting at scores in the lower corner from the third bar stool. Image quality and color saturation are very good. Artifacts from quick movement in HD media is fairly well controlled. Cabling on the back was clean and simple if you use a 90 degree connector for the cable. The only feature that does not measure up to the rest of the features is the audio. It is not that it is too soft as some people have written. It is that the sound spectrum for some sources seems clipped. It is not significant and there are audio out jacks if this is important to you. The bottom line is that we would not hesitate to buy this unit. It is well made and works well.
