5 comments about Samsung LNS4692D 46-Inch LCD HDTV.
- Me and everybody else i knew thought this TV was the greatest thing since sliced bread. It was amazing. Until one day when i walked out of the room, and came back and there was no picture on the screen. Just this eerie bluish/green glow. Long story short, I called the authorized samsung dealership, and after 2 visits, and trying out 3 different parts, they told me i needed the LCD screen replaced. Got my call for my estimate $1840. So recommendation is to buy the longest warranty you can, and hope it doesn't break after that. I have a $3000 paperweight on my living room floor.
- I bought my TV and was very pleased with it until this week when the picture stopped working after owning it for only 18 months. The sound will come through, but there is no image. The product comes with a 1 year warranty, and I didn't buy an extended warranty. However, I did expect for the TV to work for more than 18 months.
Additionally, in looking through my paperwork, I realized why the price was better from Amazon than from local electronics stores. The TV is from Canada and not from the US.
Needless to say, I am disappointed in the performance of my Samsung TV.
- We were very happy with this TV's design, features and performance. However the screen has stopped working after 17 months' use. Unfortunately not up to our expectations for a Samsung.
- We purchased this tv 15 months ago. My husband fell in love with it until 3 weeks ago. Tv picture went out but the sound was still there. We didnt purchase the extended warrenty. We contacted samsung and they really dont care. Finally we had a service rep come out for 200.00 but he only charged us 100.00. He told us that our T con board was broke and it would be 1200.00 dollars to repair. He then continued to tell us that that they didn't make the t con board for this TV anymore, so basically we should get a new tv or something comparable from samsung. Samsung has given us the run around. I am very disgusted with there service. I will never buy a samsung again. Oh and by the way we threatend to go to our tv channels for help and report samsung and tuesday they are coming to repair our tv. Oh they found the part.
- I went to many local stores to learn which LCD's were considered the "best". Samsung was in the top three. Have had it less than a year and half and motherboard is blown. No picture, just sound. Motherboard has taken 5 weeks so far to come in (still not here). Seems like parts are hard to come by.

5 comments about Zenith L23W36 23" Widescreen Flat-Panel HD-Ready LCD TV (Silver/Gray).
- I can't say enough about the picture quality of this Zenith.
Better than the 23" Sony when viewing side to side. Nice styling and easy to use. I just love this television.
- I am very happy with this TV. I currently had a very old 1983 Commodore 13" monitor as my video monitor and eventually wanted to replace it with a 40" plasma monitor. I decided to buy this LCD-TV while I saved money to buy the plasma monitor. Great idea! This LCD-TV is the perfect stop gap measure for me. It has the resolution I require (1280 x 768) for my HDTV set top box and DVD viewing needs and the computer input allows me to display my laptop computer which, while I originally had no plan to do so, is a nice feature. If you need a high resolution monitor at a medium size, this LCD-TV is a good buy at this price point.
- The switch panel was not working after I tried it, 38 days after purchase. My mistake that I didn't test when I brought it. Kept using the remote control. Amazon refused to take it back after 30 days, so had to fall back on warranty. The product has now gone back to LG for repairs. LG support was pretty good though - so far.
- I was looking for 17 to 19 inch flat monitors for my pC that had PIP capabilities with Television included. I was disappointed in the choices and quickly saw that to get all the features I wanted I had to look in the $999 to $1400 range. While shopping I found one of the Zeniths that had been recently returned and was on sale as an open item @ Best Buy for $1500.
I jumped on it (and the $200 BB warranty). Came on Amazon and could not believe how good a deal I actually got. Enuff braggin. Setup a breeze. PIP choices are many and awesome. Great on PC, TV so far. Can't wait to run video ins, hook to DVD or X-Box, etc. No complaints. Highly recommend for your next monitor choice. It really looks very cool sitting on my desk too!
- I looked and looked at my local electronics stores comparing every lcd tv they had and when I saw this one it was a WOW moment. The picture on this is amazing to say the least. I have a buddy who is a die hard sony fan. He saw this and couldn't stop talking about it. Cons are video switching is slow... no hdmi.... and audio is bad..... but who cares about audio. If you are going to be spending the money that this costs I would bet that you have a surround sound system already.

- In early October, we ordered the slightly less expensive FN97 through Amazon from Beach Audio. When the set came with internal damage, Kris Freeman of Beach Audio took it all in stride. The FN97 model was out of stock, so he sent us this model, the FH97, at no extra charge. The new set was delivered and the damaged one picked up at the same time.
The picure on this set is amazing. My husband was pleasantly surprised. We probably sit closer than most people do, about seven feet away, but with a football game, in HD, WOW. With an travel show of the Grand Canyon, when the helicopter banks, you feel like you have to lean with it.
The internal cooling fan is much quieter than some reviews led me to believe.
There is very little reflection from windows across the room bouncing light off the screen. We like the black thin frame surrounding the screen because of the lack of distraction while watching at night. You can even turn down (or off) the intensity of the blue power button light.
Right now, we have it hooked up with the 1080i component output from the SA 3250HD cable box. We have Knology cable. The HDMI input (this set has two) might be even better.
We have the set sitting on the Plateau CR-2V(64) stand that we also ordered through Amazon. This stand is within one-eighth an inch of the set's width of 64 and one-eighth inches. On carpet, with the spike feet, the stand is about eighteen inches high. The middle of the screen comes out to a little under 45 inches from the floor.
So far, we are very pleased.
- Fantastic picture quality, great natural looking colors and surprisingly good sound highlight this wonderful set. Purchased from Amazon 12/22 and we had it by year end, we are thrilled with the performance of this JVC.
A couple of things to watch out for. First, in an incredible display of corporate shortsightedness, JVC decided to cripple the firewire (1394) ports on this TV, mangling them so that they only accept JVC equipment. Pause to consider the magnitude of corporate stupidity here. An industry standard input port, IEEE1394, that they decide should be degraded so that only JVC works with it. So these ports are virtually useless to the average consumer who may just want to hook up, for instance, a Sony camcorder. Why did they stop with just this input. Why didn't they make is so that ALL the input ports only accept JVC equipment. JVC-only HDMI, JVC-only component video, and so on? Maybe because then nobody would buy it?
The other shortcoming is the menu system, which is atrocious, and cumbersome to navigate. Chief complaint here is the "input" selection, which forces the user to scroll through all the choices which takes about 20 seconds since the TV blanks and freezes for about 4 seconds with each change.
All in all, its a state-of-the art picture quality in a very attractive package with a small, tasteful bezel and stand. The sound, should you decide to use it (most owners of TV's like this have 5 channel surround, but occassionally you may find a reason to use the set's speakers) is very, very good.
I'd give this a perfect score, but the foolish waste of the firewire ports and the poorly done on-screen navigations (which, by the way, can be overcome with a smart remote such as Harmony) force me to knock it down bit. I give this one a 95 rating and a definite strong buy recommendation.

- This t.v. has an awesome picture, especially with HD service. The built in DVD player is a great touch also, especially if you plan on wall mounting it. I couldn't be happier!
- This is a great TV and the integrated DVD is really convenient. We've had it for a couple of months and use an over the air HD antena. The The delivery of the TV was quicker than promised and arrived without any problems via UPS.

1 comments about Sony CPFM-42X1/B 42IN XGA 1024X768 BLACK PLASMA.
- An excellent 1024 x 768 progessive HD display.
Fortunately, it does not come with a Dukes of Hazard DVD.
I'm using the S-Video input for our Sony Tivo and VCR, component video from a Sony 5-disc DVD changer into the RGB/YUV input, and HDMI digital video from a Sony 400 disc DVD changer into the DVI-D input.
Picture quality is superb, and the monitor upscales all sources nicely.
There is also a Control S input and output on the monitor, a pair of BNC connectors for composite video in/out, as well as audio inputs for each video input (DVI-D, RGB/YUV, and S-Video/composite), and a single audio output. All of the connectors are located side by side along the bottom of the rear of the monitor. The composite input, S-Video input, and audio input for S-Video/composite are located on a removable adapter card (supplied with the monitor).
I don't use the for composite video or any audio features. (Speakers are an optional add-on for this model).
Note that like most plasma monitors, the PFM-42X1/B does not come with a stand. There are several option available to you, I settled on the PSS Swivel Table Stand from Chief Manufacturing.
Be aware of potential HDMI to DVI-D issues with this monitor:
Although the monitor is equipped with an HDCP compliant DVI-D input, when you connect a Sony DVD player as an HDMI source (in this case a Sony DVP-CX995V DVD changer) using a single HDMI>DVI cable (no other intermediate devices), the player will only output 640p. The DVD player is capable of outputting upscaled high definition video from a regular DVD as either 720p or 1080i on the HDMI connector. No matter what settings I try on the player, it refuses to output anything other than 640p.
I have called Sony for support on both the monitor and the DVD player, with no fix for the problem.
So, presumably, unless Sony come out with an HDMI input adapter card for the PFM series, I'm out of luck !
What concerns me is that all of the new Sony consumer video devices have HDMI for high-definition output, and presumably they won't work with DVI-D either...

3 comments about JVC LT37X887 37-Inch Flat Panel LCD TV.
- The picture is superb! Sound is very good. It's New Year's day and we had a party New Year's Eve with 22 adults. Almost all commented on how crisp and detailed the picture looked in HD. This includes my son who went for the 50" Pioneer plasma and my neighbor who has the 37" plasma from Panasonic. My son can't believe it's an LCD, the picture being so crisp and clear. No apparrent problems with "black detail" or blurring with fast action scenes. On Christmas Eve, we had the burning yule log on the screen with just music playing. When my wife first saw it, she thought we had a fire in the living room.
Makes you wonder about all the discussion of Plasma versus LCD!
- Before buying this JVC LCD TV I fell in love with its simple elegant and smart design, swiveling capability and stand design (the stand it semi-circular in the front so that when you swivel the tv screen side to side it never looks out of square (I think they have it backwards on this Amazon pages pic of it) Then I read the specs and worried about contrast ratio and motion until I went to best buy and there it was displaying the same fast moving program that another super expensive well known brand name lcd tv was playing and the picture was IDENTICAL for the exception that the JVCs design was much sleeker and sexier than the silver, grey and black well known brand next to it - and MUCH cheaper. It's been a few months and I LOVE it as much as the first day. Over the air hdtv signals are breathtaking, like looking through a window into reality of how clear and sharp. As for the two hdmi ports - I tested one for my computer with a cable (hdmi to dvi into my video card) and never went back to my normal monitor. I did 720p (1280X720and downscaled it with my video cards software (ati catalyst - ATI x700 radeon) turning out to be 1216X680 which fits perfectly onto the edges of the screen and is just the perfect size for text and incredible for pictures. I sit around three feet away. There is absolutely NO TRUTH whatsoever that when you use such a large screen you see the pixels! The quality is very comparable to a computer lcd screen just larger and more vivid colors. Also this is using the hdmi to dvi - not the pc port on the tv. The pc port on the tv looks worse and you can't enable widescreen on windows. By the way, I have this model but in 40 inches not 37.
- Check your return policy carefully -- you will want to avoid having to deal with the manufacturer's warranty at all costs. I have the larger model of this television. Though the picture quality is good, I have found it to be overshadowed by (in my opinion) very poor customer service at JVC. I quickly realized after purchase that my television was defective; six months later it is still defective, and JVC has been less than helpful in facilitating repairs.

5 comments about Toshiba 26HF66 26" Upconverting Widescreen Pure Flat CRT HDTV.
- The set is ok overall...good price, free shipping, and good reviews convinced me to buy this set.
Now, after about a month, It continues to have a greenish tint when using the Colorstream HD input.
I'm going to call TOshiba support and see what can be done. Hopefully, I won't have to send it back.
- I was looking for the largest CRT HDTV that I could fit in my existing cabinet and stumbled across this set by Toshiba. The picture quality is very good, stunning in HDTV, but the sound leaves a little to be desired. My 14 year old Zenith had much better sound quality. The TV is loaded with features and provides plenty of inputs to plug in just about any a/v device known to man. The only things I would change would be the time it takes to tune each station which can make channel surfing a little tedious and the sound quality.
- Stunning picture, looks good on My Wii, and great colors. Be sure to put BBE on for sound, because it sounds less tinny then. My only gripes are overscan, which from the looks of it is really bad, but it's picture is good enough to warent purchase. Really good, and great picture.
- I have a built-in television cabinet in my living room, so I could only purchase an HDTV that was 26" or less wide. I was looking for a 1080i picture, as well. After lots of research, I decided on the Toshiba 26HF66 and I am thrilled at the bargain I got. The picture is unbelievable, and the sound is so strong, I typically only turn it up to 1/4 or its total volume. It is able to handle all HD formats, and the price is what really made it an amazing purchase for me. Now I'm looking for a big screen to go in my basement, and Toshiba is at the top of my list, thanks to this awesome mid-sized TV.
- I am not one for words. It is a good tv, everthing it was advertised to be.
