1. I have owned the TV now for a total of 5 months, unfortunately, the last three months the TV has been in repair (which is covered by the warranty). The customer service is poor, which makes the problem only worse. My TV was working fine, until one day, the screen went blank. Once this happened, a series of backordered parts for repair, incompetency, etc. prevailed, and I still do not have a functioning TV. Perhaps, the most frustrating aspect of this entire ordeal is that I bought a Phillips TV b/c I was under the impression it was better quality and thus reliable. I was mistaken. Please know that I am writing this review while I am on hold with customer service, now for the 13th week. Avoid this product at all costs! If you don't believe me, just look up this TV and model series in google, and see all of the frustration forums.



2. Philips produce line seem's to be a great one. TV working fine ...... Comcast, on the other hand .........



3. This TV was good for the price until it started having major problems seven weeks after I purchased it. The picture started jumping up and down on the screen, blinking as it did this. Then, after several minutes of flashing, the screen would go blank. The customer service experience has been TERRIBLE, which is why I took the time to write this review--to warn people before they buy this TV. The person who was supposed to fix this TV under full warranty tried to charge me for labor, which was supposed to be covered. After that happened, Phillips claimed there was no one else in my area who could fix the TV. So, when the TV wasn't repaired correctly the first time, I had to take it back to the same person who tried to steal money from me. Do not buy this TV! Of the few reviews I read, another person had almost the exact same problem with their TV. The broken television combined with a poor customer service experience is why I have rated this TV one star.



4. I researched this tv for my wife and ordered it for her. She is very pleased with it. I installed it and after following prompts on the screen, it said it had found 11 digital channels and 12 analog channels. It gets channels we didn't know existed, using the antenna. I had never heard of decimal channels, like 9.4, Create. Now, after hooking up to directv,without subscribing to HD, the reception is exceptional, without the HD, and when we want to get the HD local channels, she switches over to the antenna. Satelite doesn't bring in any of the decimal channels.
   
   Now, I would like to buy a 26" Phillips LCD HDTV for my den. Whew I ordered tv they were not available.



5. I looked at ALL the brands at all the local electronic stores and took alot of time before deciding on this one. I honestly believe that it is equal to or better than all the more expensive brands out there. As a matter of fact, my brother-in-law bought my mother-in-law, who lives next door, a new Sony 32" LCD shortly after we got our Philips, and the Philips definitely outperforms the Sony in picture quality, and I might add that I'm a fan of Sony products. I'd say it is on par with the much more expensive Samsung. This one is for our bedroom, our next LCD TV will be for the living room and WILL be a larger Philips.
   What I like: two HDMI inputs, a USB input for updating software AND observing your favorite pics, a light, easy to use remote, nice style, great sound, and of course, fantastic HD picture.
   Dislikes: I could only afford to buy one of these at a time.

1. Excellent TV, bright/vivid colors, no viewing angle problems. I bought this TV through Amazon after much research. The whole experience was flawless.



2. I am NOT a tech person, just average with TV's & PC's. The Sony Bravia was a snap to hook up, I used one HDMI cable from the cable box, and the other HDMI cable from the DVD into the back of the Sony Bravia, and I was all done! Simple. The set looks outstanding, and comes with a clear manual of instructions. It will do a lot more than I need (i.e. PIP) and yet it is simple to operate. An excellent buy for the money, and a Consumer Reports "Best Buy" in their recent magazine (according to my brother who noticed it). I highly recommend this set since 720p is what the stations will be broadcasting in and the picture is fabulous.



3. Sony just makes great products. This year's NFL games in HD were even more spectacular on this unit. Sound quality is more than adequate. Black unpolished frame surround makes this blend well in our bedroom. My next TV will again be a Sony.



4. We purchased this TV last fall from Amazon. Even though it's "only" 720p, the picture quality when watching HD channels and DVD's is excellent. The quality of regular TV channels is decent and watchable. We also use it to watch Netflix streaming movies through our computer and the experience is surprisingly good.
   If you buy from Amazon, don't forget to watch the prices for 30 days after the purchase. If the price is reduced, Amazon will refund you the difference. We got almost $100 back this way, but they will not do it automatically. You need to send them an email and ask for it.



5. Beautiful color...beautiful resolution, beautiful sound. We have not found any negatives to this TV.

1. While deployed, there would sometimes be six or seven of us huddled around an iPod trying to share a movie. Perhaps two dozen or so could watch one play on a laptop. You can only take so much of that! I knew a large LCD would be my first post-deployment purchase and it was.
   
   Samsung makes great LCD's. My Dell Inspiron 9300 has a Samsung beauty and I've another on my desktop as well.
   
   If this large LCD doesn't live up to its peers in my house it's on the darks. Colors are rich and vibrant but if a scene is shot with low light or contains a lot of shadows, it's inky black on this screen.



2. I have had this TV for a little over a year and this is, by far, the best television I have ever owned. The picture is amazing, the sound is great (built-in HDTV Tuner)and the price was steal! I hooked up My Samsung BDP-1400 Blu Ray player to it, and I feel like I am there. I would definately recommend this televsion to anyone who is looking for one.

4. I bought this TV in 12/06. At that time it was advertised as 1080i resolution and 15,000/1 dynamic contrast. This is what I got.
   However, I now read where the item is listed as 768 resolution and 3000/1 contrast.
   Something tells me samsung reserves the right to alter specs on an item after it is released.
   Needless to say, the TV I received is magnificant regarding video (5-star). The audio would be rated 4-star as I get a vibration if I turn it louder than 1/2 way up. I don't care because I have a 5.1 surround sound system hooked up to it.
   I hope everyone got the same spec tv I got (1080i-15000/1) but I'm afraid they didn't.
   If I rated MY tv anything lower than 5-star, I'd be lying. It's a great tv. (LNS4041D)

1. I bought a "Thin Frame" Mitsubishi lt-46133 to replace a Sony 36" XBR CRT. Boy was I disappointed. The Mits was much brighter but the picture was very pixelated when watching sports, it took forever to change channels and turn on, I couldn't select inputs from my universal remote, and had problems with the digital audio output. I returned it and bought this set - the only other that would fit in the space I have. I'm much happier with the Toshiba. There is still some pixelation when watching sports in HD on cable - could be that the signal is compressed, or maybe that's just how LCDs are. My only other gripe with this set is the somewhat limited number of analog inputs that forced me to be creative to get everything connected.



2. I purchased this TV in Nov'07. By April '08 some of the 'pixels' were all one color. An approved shop came, couldn't fix it at my house, and took it in to their shop.
   
   Its been 17 days and I'm waiting on Toshiba to "approve" a new screen. After they approve it, it will take 7 to 10 days to ship it then another 2 or 3 days to install it and it has to 'run' for 3 days before it can be returned.
   
   I've asked when a decision will be made by Toshiba regarding shipping the needed part - I cannot talk directly to the people who know that information. The guys on the phone are nice enough, but unwilling or unable to answer the question of when the techs will make a decision regarding how to proceed without an intermediary and a 2 or 3 day delay.
   
   If they ship the part tomorrow (and I'm doubtful that's going to happen), To get warranty repair I will have been without my TV for (currently estimated 30 days.)ON EDIT: It's now been 30 days with the TV in the shop. The part needed has been approved but is apparently on back order and will be at least 30-45 more days before it's available to ship. The best case scenario for a warranty repair is ... TV out of my house for 2.5 MONTHS.
   
   0N FURTHER EDIT: The end of the story. Toshiba agreed that the lag was too long to wait for replacement part so they decided to replace the TV I purchased with a newer model. It was shipped to my house. Unfortunately, the new TV straight out of the box would not power up. I refused delivery and Toshiba shipped out another replacement TV. This one is working. Total time to get warranty issue resolved - two months. May 17th to July 16th.
   
   Buyer beware. My experience with reliability and customer service has not been good. I will not buy Toshiba again.



3. I previously bought the 40" Super Thin Regza and liked it so much I decided to get the 46" for the living room. One remote for two TV's... No learning curve... limited instruction manual reading... and previous experience with Toshiba quality. Plus this thing just looks ultra high-tech whether turned on or not. We couldn't be happier! It's priced right and we even got Saturday delivery. Beautiful crisp HD picture, great with an upconverting DVD player (now available for under $60 including the HDMI cable!), adequate with normal programming like every other 1080p.



4. I bought this model since I found it on sale at a local store. The unit was brand new and factory sealed when I bought it. After one month of average use (4-5 hours viewing per day), the TV just suddenly died one day while we were viewing a program. We checked that the surge protector wasn't tripped and the power cord was installed correctly. After spending 30 minutes troubleshooting, we couldn't get the unit to function again. This is the worst experience that I have ever had with any electronic devices and I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a high quality product such as myself.



5. I have used this product for more than six months. I has an excellent picture. I have not noticed any pixellation. It is on 10-12 hours a day. The only video it sees is from my DirecTV HD box via HDML. I am fully pleased with my purchase.

1. TV rocks. Great picture, sound, interfaces, price.
   
   Problems.
   Slow to power up. On powering up if not recently used takes 5 seconds before it responds with the reassuring click that the remote worked. This has caused a fair amount of chaos among new users trying to figure what is not working.
   
   Remote not compatible with direct TV... not a choice to set TV to... Whose idea was that? Still trying to figure away around this problem.
   
   Direct TV remote does not interface with TV very well. It is sluggish and inconsistent. Still trying to fix this.
   
   Still awesome TV.



2. The price was the best we found. Consumer Reports rated the Toshiba 42HL67 highly and delivery and installation went soothly-just follow the steps on wiring from your cable company. The picture is terrific in HD and SD and the remote is not complicated. Anyway, once set, you use the cable box remote.
   Our only complaint are the speakers which don't seem very powerful or clear but we were planning on upgrading before we bough the TV but decided to wait to make sure whatever we bought was compatible. The set looks nice and sleek in our family room. After tons of research, this set does it for us.



3. This is my third Toshiba TV, sold one to make room for this one and still have a 50" Rear Projection that has NEVER given me any trouble eight years running(Knock on wood). For the money -- 42" for $1,019 including S&H from another web site, this is hands down ... THE LCD to get. If your looking for LCD's that is. Good picture quality with standard definition programming despite the poor standard def. signal we get from our cable company. I have seen reviewers complain about this TV's standard definition picture, but you must realize the old addage ... junk in = junk out. No TV can "clear up" a poor signal. Remember also that these TV's are meant to be viewed from a distance, be sure to buy size appropriate for the room as too big means a grainy looking picture. Unbelievable, but in the case of High Def. TV's ... bigger isn't always better a.k.a. size DOES matter!! This sets High Definition picture is incredible ... looks 3D. Don't worry about it being only 720P as cable providers (at least mine) are only feeding 1080i anyways and it fills this screen size nicely with excellent detail. You can count the blades of grass during PGA tournaments or watch the dust flying around each contestant during their post-performance review on American Idol(Somebody needs to dust out there in California!). If you want a High Def. set above 42" in size, you'll want 1080p capability to reduce possible pixelization. I don't have Blue-Ray or the defunct HD-DVD to review but my 480p Progressive DVD player picture is very clean on this TV. If you buy a High Def. TV you ABSOLUTEY need a "High Def. Set-up Disc" such as AVIA, etc. Borrow one from a friend, maybe Netflix rents 'em, or straight up buy one with the coin you saved buying this tv. These DVD's help tune in the picture as most TV's are sent out of the factory with extreme color saturation and brightness (an attempt to stand out from the crowd in the showroom). And you ABSOLUTELY have to somehow get High Def. content running through this TV such as "Over-the-air" rabbit ears, HD cable box, HD satellite box, Blue-Ray player, or the now-defunct HD-DVD player. Not doing so should be listed as one of the seven deadly sins... Failure to provide a high tech., high def., flat screen LCD TV an appropriate signal!!!! PS- Always connect equipment with the highest level connector available to you. Ex- If your cable provider box has an HDMI output ... use it. You'll get the best picture that way. And don't be fooled by "Monster Cables" for HDMI cables (or any other cables for that matter). Unless you have a "Theatre Rooom" and spell and call it such ... you're an average joe or jane like me. That means go to a web reseller (mycablemart, ect.) and buy an HDMI cable for $ instead of $$$$$. A digital signal is either there or it's not, no such thing as "signal degradation" like an analog connection.
   
   As for "problems" other reviewers are having here ... 1)Yes, they're right, these speakers can't handle a lot of bass. My old analog TV couldn't either. They're simply not made for a wide range of acoustic, Not too many TV speakers are.
   2) Delay in start up ... read the manual people! States that is a power saving energy star feature that CAN be set off for instant power up.
   3)Sluggish remote ... I do have to agree with this one a little, not extreme though. And when sun is glaring toward it (Infrared Radiation) it does have a less of a remote "field of vision". Ehhh, I draw the blinds then and it just makes the picture look that much better ;-)



4. The TV itself is great. I purchased it December 2007. Everything was going great and we were enjoying it a lot until the power supply went out in the TV (March 2008). We contacted the store we purchased the TV from and they sent someone out to take a look. After confirming the power supply needed to be replaced they told us that it would be June or July before they could get the parts. The repair company and the store we purchased the TV from both said that having the customer contact Toshiba directly usually results in a better response on getting parts.
   
   We contacted Toshiba directly, they assigned a rep to our problem, and we haven't heard anything back since. Each time we call Toshiba to get an update on the parts for our TV, they tell us that the rep has all the information and will call us back. They refuse to let us speak with the rep they assigned to the case, and they refuse to let us speak with a manager at Toshiba's call center.
   
   When asked why it takes so long to get parts for a new model TV, the response from Toshiba was, "Well, we make a lot of TVs and some of these parts come from overseas".
   
   I have had other Toshiba products and been very happy with them, but this experience with their customer service has turned me off of purchasing Toshiba products in the future.
   
   The real kick in the pants... we even purchased the "extended warranty" when we bought the TV and it has done absolutely nothing for us.
   
   The TV is really nice... when it's working but for the last month or so all I've had is a big dead black square hanging over my fireplace.
   
   Something is disturbing is that before purchasing this TV I couldn't find any bad reviews of this TV (a few complaints about the "green problem"). After having the TV for a few months, I see that other people are having the same type of issues with their TVs and getting the same response from Toshiba's customer service department.
   
   If you are getting ready to purchase this TV, I'd wait a few more months to see if any more bad reviews pop up around the Net.



5. This TV is absolutely terrific. It's out of box video quality doesn't really need to be adjusted beyond personal preference. Doesn't look the best in store because it's sitting next to 5000$ Samsungs, but once it's home, it's truly incredible. I never thought I'd be able to afford quality like this. Do not hesitate, put away buyers remource and get it. It can be found for $800 plus tax and shipping if you look hard. If you can't find it for less that $1400, it may be better to look at a samsung, but I still can't say enough positive things about this TV.
   
   I'm not big into sound because my apartment is small and I have to keep quiet anyway, so this is the only area where it may be lacking, but it's got so many connections for 5.1, etcc, it doesn't matter.
   
   Please, do yourself a favor. It's way more affordable than it should be. Seems like one of those too-good-to-be-true deals, but it's not.

1. I got this tv a little over a week ago and it is extrememly nice. I have no complaints so far and am very pleased. The picture quality is excellent, especially on Xbox 360



2. This is one awesome television. The picture is great via Direct TV and DVD. I don't have cable so I can't give an opinion there. There is one setting that greatly reduces the fuzziness found on most sets when not watching a true 1080 P or I picture.
   
   The closed captioning takes a bit to turn on. (7 button presses on the remote). I use a Harmony 880 that has the ability to program a sequence of commands so I made an ACTIVITY (macro) to allow me to press one button instead of seven. Otherwise, this would be an inconvenience.
   
   I have owned two Mitsubishi TVs. One lasted 17 years. The other is still going after 18 years. I have owned one Sony. The front input panel stopped working after 3 years. The TV quit completely after 7 years. Hopefully, this new Mitsubishi will be like the others I have owned.
   
   I have not yet been able to tune to an over the air (OTA) HDTV broadcast. I am 28 miles from my closest station so I think I will need a serious antenna.



3. Working in the industry I have seen tons of televisions. The first day I saw the Mitsubshi LT-46131 I knew it was something special. I have owned this television for about 4 weeks and I am extremely pleased with it. Once calibrated (a few adjustments in the picture menu) the picture quality is absolutely breath-taking. It may not be the final word in black levels, but what it lacks in black-levels it makes up for in picture quality and detail. Don't get me wrong the black-levels on this television are good, just not the best available. The Sony XBR is better than the Mitsubishi in this regard, however the Mitsubishi bests the Sony in color reproduction and is equal to the Sony in picture detail. You can currently find this TV online for just under $3K with great financing offers. This television is a steal, did I mention firewire? Every night I come home the first thing I do is fire this puppy up (right after I kiss my wife), and I'm blown away everytime I tune in a high-def channel. I am no hi-def novice, this is my 4th high definition televison, previously owning a Panasonic PT-53WX52, Panasonic PT-50LC13, Vizio P50HDM and finally my beloved Mitsubishi. The Mitsubishi absolutely trounces my previous televisions, including the highly regarded Vizio. I know HDMI 1.3 is on the horizon but the picture quality of this set is hard to resist. Regular cable looks ok on this television but it needs a quality hi-def signal to really shine. This television is also among the best LCD's in terms of fast moving objects. When watching basketball and football games it's hard to detect any motion blur. I could not have made a better choice in a television. Mitsubishi is a class act.



4. I strongly suggest you do not purchase this HDTV if you intend to use it with a cable card. There is a defect in the chip causing pixelation on the HD channels. Brand new set has to go in for repair replacing the entire circuit board taking approximately 1-1 1/2 weeks "IF" the part is available. Can't imagine how long the unit will be gone and I've only had it 2 weeks! Customer service at Mitsubishi lacking - had to call 4 times - VERY LONG WAIT TIMES ON PHONE AND APPOINTMENTS WITH AUTHORIZED REPAIR SERVICES. Spend a few bucks more and go with Sony. This is my last Mitsubishi purchase!



5. I owned this TV for 3 weeks. Here is how I feel about this TV:
   
   What I like about it (from the best):
   1. No dead-pixels, clouds or banding issues. Not just for mine. Other owners reported similar quality.
   2. Better than average SD (480i) performance
   3. 1080p input via HDMI and DVI
   4. POP, there is no Picture in Picture but this TV can do split screen viewing very well with the exception of viewing two RF channels or two 1080p sources.
   5. Swivel stand
   6. Lots of freedom in tuning color
   7. IEEE 1394 port, for recording digital feeds great if you can find a cheap AVHD
   7. DVI-I interface, a rare find these days. 1:1 pixel mapping at 1080p
   8. Can level sound volume. Reduces the panic when changing channels
   9. On screen TV guide so you see which channel is playing what.
   10. Built-in Cable Card
   
   What I hate about it (from the worst):
   1. Black crush! While the black is black, so is dark gray and dark blue! Comparing the TV side by side with a Sony, the details in the shadow area is completely missing on the Mitsubishi.
   2. Overscans on HDMI. So a 1920x1080 image will be scaled up. Kind of defeating the purpose of having a 1080p TV. In fact, a PC output is HORRIBLE through HDMI due to scaling.
   3. Only 1080i via Component - no 1080p for XBOX 360 Platinum/Core.
   4. DVI image is missing a few rows/columns. The real resolution is like 1916x1076.
   5. VGA (via DVI-A) is only supported up to 1366x768.
   6. Cannot automatically expand 4:3 HD program to 16:9 while keeping 16:9 programs untouched.
   7. Poor User Interface. I cannot believe people praise about its UI. The interface is slow and non-intuative. It takes a full second after I press "INPUT" for my choices to show up. The menu dedicates an entire icon for rarely used function like naming my input source but to adjust color, I have to cycle through a dozen video options in 2 levels. The menu only provide the most basic configurations.
   8. Frequent mode change in split screen. If the video mode of one of the sub-window has changed (e.g. from SD to HD, 480i to 480p), the entire screen will flash. Most serious during channel change.
   9. According to an online source, this TV fails 3:2 pull down test for 1080i programs. (but it works for 480i!)
   10. Heavy. Close to 100 lb with stand.
   11. Will not display if a program is 1080i or 720p. I wonder why?
   
   What I see is Mitsubishi's first serious attempt in the LCD HDTV market. I think they have a lots more to learn and improve.
