  1. I was a little reluctant to purchase a large screen TV over the internet as I had never done that before. However, when I thought about how the retail outlets receive their merchandise, by truck, I thought what's the difference. I get it delievered right to me free of charge, the price was about $700.00 less than Best Buy and no sales tax. Everything went as smooth as silk and I am extremely pleased with the Mitsubishi TV I bought. Randy in Slidell, La.

  2. The color of red is not true red like SONY displays. Other than that......... it's a damn good TV.

  3. Fantastic picture, with great color and definition. Easy setup and adjustments. Senses inputs and goes into setup mode. The only problem is you can really tell the difference between HD and regular TV. In fact, regular TV appears out of focus/blurry, because the images are so large. Defintely recommned. You will probably want a blu-rat to take advantage of all of this TV's capabilities.

  1. One pixel went out after 3 hours. I called customer service and they told me that 3 have to be out before they will consider it a warranty return. It's in the middle of the screen and very annoying.

  2. Learned a lesson. Could not find what I wanted locally for bedroom. Worst TV I have ever bought. Color, contrast, do not even know how to start. Never buy a TV with out viewing picture.

  3. Now, I'm not quite sure if this TV is the same one as mine, but they look the same and the size (23") is my size.

Anyway, the aspect ratio of my TV is 16:10, not 16:9 like all HD broadcasts are. This means that to not have the picture stretched vertically I have to set it to have two black bars at the top and bottom. Why a company would make anything other than a 16:9 aspect for an HDTV I will never know. Also, in low light scenes you can clearly see the places where the backlights are; they make streaks of bright across the screen. The TV also has some weird feature which turns the backlight up and down depending on what's being displayed, which can be VERY annoying.

So I'm not sure if this is the exact same TV, but just be weary if you buy this one (or any LG TV).

  4. i got this tv at best buy, your way better off buying it there because it cost me 398. but if u buy it here you will have to pay shipping you get the idea so ya better off buying it at best buy and over all this lcd is great bright screen had to bring it down a bit the best looking picture of all the same size lcd at best buy

  5. Well, it was a so so TV for a year. Died on the 13th month. LG wants me to ship back the LCD to them and pay a $99 Diag. fee first. They will then tell me how much it will be to repair. Can you say.... NO WAY.

On to a TV that will last a little longer than 13 months.

  1. DO NOT BUY THIS TV unless you are prepared to deal with an incompetant company with a non-existant warranty. I purchased this Sharp Aquos LC-52D82U on 12/11/07 and have owned it for only 2 months. As my wife and I were watching and enjoying the great picture on this tv, the picture suddenly began to disappear, beginning from the left side of the screen and continued to the right until there was no picture at all. There was still sound comming but no picture. Obviously a manufacturer defect. I got in touch with Amazon immediately who told me to get in touch with 6 Ave. Electronics, where the tv was actually sold from. They told me I had to contact Sharp (already a hassle). Once I finally contacted Sharp Customer Service they told me it did indeed sounded like a manufacture defect and would send an authorized Sharp service person to come and try to repair it. I explained I did not want a repaired tv I expected a new replacement or a full refund. I spent $2600 for a new tv, not a new refurbished tv. They told me the 1 year warranty only covers parts and labor for the tv. Now its been 1 week from the day the tv malfunctioned and Sharp told me it will take one more week to get a service person out to my house to fix it. If they can't fix it they will replace the existing tv with a new one, which could take another two weeks. Huge hassle.

  2. I purchased the tv through amazon warehouse, i was a little skeptical abouting spending so much money for a refurb that i have not even seen but i decided to give it a try since it was for $1600. I was between this a samsung lnt5271 and xbr4, the sony was just to expensive and i was worried about the glare from the samsung so i decided to try the sharp even though i saw some many people complaining about banding issues. I have seen a little when it comes to the whites but it is something you really have to look for, the ps3 looks awsome and i cant really imagine a much clear picture. And the tv looks great the floating glass is a very nice touch. I recied the tv a little late it took close to 3 weeks getting it, i think it was a issue with the warehouse, but for the price i couldn complain, delivery people were great.

    Somes cons,
very little banding but like i said you really have to look for it, i was not impressed with the sound at all, it is nothing like the sony i had but i have a bose system to do most of the movies and games, but for a tv that cost that much i really expected better. I can also see that if the tv was mounted and you did not have a month that is expandable it would be had to connet things since there is no side inputs. the last thing was the auto sizing of the pic, its not very good at switching on its own from hd channes to regular air most of the time you have to manually switch it back from strech to dot by dot, that can get kinda annoying.

Other then that the picture is really nice and i guess thats the most important part right? I also recomend using amazon so far there customer service seems to be great but then agian i have not had many issues so i guess we will see.

  3. I am very happy with the product. it is easy to set up and once I hook it up with a blue ray player, I was amazed by the quality of the pictures.

I saw some other brands that are cheaper than sharp but you get a much better TV with sharp.

  4. read the reviews, did the research, took a chance and purchased through amazon and their affiliates. It was a wonderful experience. No hard sell for anything like you would find if you purchased from some of those other sites. About the only down side is the screen reflects a muted shine from a light that the prior TV (panasonic plasma)did not reflect.

  5. About one year ago I purchased the Sharp 52" LCD TV. I am very happy with this purchase. The picture has excellent sharpness and color, with no color banding as experienced with some of the earlier versions.

This TV has performed perfectly with no problems. A very nice feature of this TV is the automatic picture level control, which controls the level of brightness of the video under variable room lighting conditions, especially on a partly cloudy day, when the lighting constantly changes.

The audio is good if you do not use maximum bass setting, as setting bass level too high overdrives the built-in speakers at high audio levels. The audio is surprisingly good at normal settings with the bottom mounted internal speakers.

Don't be afraid to explore all the video settings to achieve the picture that will please you, as it takes some experimenting to get this right, but it's worth it.

I highly recommend this TV after using it for almost one year. This is my 3rd Sharp TV....all with excellent reliability.

5 comments about Panasonic TH-50PX75U 50-Inch 720p Plasma HDTV.
  1. I have had this TV for over a month now and I love it. It replaced a dead Mitsubishi 52" DLP that was only 2.5 years old that cost twice as much. After my last mistake, I did much research before buying.

What I found in all my reading is simply this.
    1. Unless you just have to keep up with the Jones, all you really need is 720P. Use your money to go bigger. Blueray is the only source that truly takes advantage of 1080P. Add in the cost of the moves, it is not worth it.
    2. No matter what make and model you read about, someone, somewhere has written a bad review of it. You will go crazy looking for a TV that everyone agrees is a good buy.

With that said; I finally came to my senses and went to Consumer Reports.com for good advice. The Panasonic TH-50PX75U received the CR Best Buy award. I've had good luck with other Panasonic products so the answer was clear.

I couldn't be happier with the decision. The picture is absolutely beautiful even if watching non-HD programming. The sound is excellent. Most importantly the price was very easy on the wallet. Throw in no taxes and free shipping, what a deal! Oh, but wait, with the 30 day price guarantee, I saved even more.

Stop thinking about it and just do it. This is the best TV on the market for the price.

  2. Panasonic TH-50PX75U 50" 720p Plasma HDTV
I got this Plasma as a replacement from Circuit City for my first Panasonic 50" plasma TV that I paid $3200 for. The previous plasma's HDMI input went bad after 1 1/2 years. I have had this new TV for just 6 months and now the same thing has happened to this one. The screen just went green when using HDMI. It took 6 weeks and a lot of hassle to get the first replacement from Circuit City. One of the clerks there told me you have to complain for a month before they will replace the TV.

  3. great HDTV, stop looking
all the other reviews say it all.
I am so pleased I bought this beauty.

  4. This TV is stunning! I connected it to DirectTV yesterday...just watched Star Wars Episode 1 broadcast in HD...amazing...picture was so good I almost actually liked Jar-Jar.

I investigated HDTVs thoroughly before buying- here's how I picked this one.

    (1) Plasma vs. LCD. In this price range, the picture's better on plasma TVs, hands-down. LCDs are brighter and have more contrast, but that comes with a big sacrifice in terms of the amount of details visible in the image. The image is more lifelike and shows more detail on the plasma displays. Burn-in and screen life are much less of a concern with today's plasmas and should really no longer be used as a reason to go LCD.

    (2) Panasonic. The only plasma TVs with better images than Panasonic are the Pioneers, but those are way too expensive. The image just looks better than other plasmas...deeper blacks, more realistic colors, more details visible.

    (3) 720p. This was the toughest decision. I was really on the fence between 1080p and 720p. 1080p is obviously the higher resolution, and in this line-up the 1080p TVs have a 30,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio as opposed to the 15,000:1 for the 720p. However, these are just specs on paper; the HD channels only broadcast in 1080i or 720 p anyway, so it doesn't make a difference when watching TV. I haven't bought a blu-ray player yet and probably won't until the prices come down some more...so there's no advantage for me yet in DVDs. Finally, in reality, I am sitting about 8-9 feet away from the TV in my living room...at that distance, the difference between 720p and 1080p is not really noticeable anyway...even you have Blu-ray. So given these factors, I went with 720p because the cost difference was about $500.

Some people have complained about the reflection/glare on the screen on this TV. At night (when I watch TV), there's not much reflection when the TV is on (I watch in cinema mode)- in dark parts of the screen you can sometimes get a bit of reflection, but it's not any different than that what you get with a regular CRT TV, and it doesn't detract from the viewing experience.

I ordered from Amazon- the TV was shipped and arrived right on time. Spent this weekend watching...the HD channels look great on the 50 inch display. I also bought an HDMI-DVI cable and was able to very easily hook up my laptop to the TV- used the laptop to watch DVDs, and even Youtube looked good at 50 inches! I highly recommend this TV to anyone. You won't go wrong.

  5. The performance of this HDTV has been flawless. I chose to not get a 1080p set to save a little money, and this set has proven my decision right. I base that on the observation that at 9 feet away, where I sit, I cannot see the individual pixels. In fact, I have to be less than 4 feet to see them on this 50" screen. Be prepared, though, if you're new to HDTV sets. While your old analog set had almost nothing to adjust, these HD sets have many adjustments and settings. The manual is quite good, however. If you do need help, their customer service line answers quickly and the folks will talk you through it. Another plus for me was that "Consumer Reports" rates Panasonic HDTVs as the most reliable.

  1. This is the second purchase I made thru Amazon.com, never again!
I was overcharged for a product which I never received, tried to get a credit for my purchase, never received the credit either.
As for the Philips 26" TV, excellent quality, easy to operate, very sharp picture, I would highly recommend it to anyone.
Just don't purchase it from Amazon!!!

  2. This tv blew me away. Prior to this i had a 26 inch Hyundai LCD. Not a bad TV by any means it just lacked HDMI. SO since a 26in is the largest tv I can get sent to me I decided to go with this Phillips. I am so glad I did. This tv has all of the perks of a LCD yet looks like a plasma. The colors are rich and breathtaking. It also has plenty of inputs. The only bad thing is if you sit close to the tv you can see the pixels. The speakers I have yet to try out since I have a Bose 3-2-1 system. When the TV is off it still grabs you attention with its sleek appearance. All and all I love this TV and I am very happy with my purchase. Phillips in my mind has always made one of the best TVs of the market

  3. Recently I moved back home while trying to save up for my own place. I was searching for a television for would fit well in my bedroom, which could then possibly function as a main television after I move out. Originally I planned on buying a flatscreen television, but I fell in love with this great LCD. I had seen this tv on display in Best Buy, and was amazed by the quality of the picture. Also, compared to other 26" LCD widescreen tvs, it had an unbeatable price. I have been very pleased with my puchase, and would highly recommend this TV for anyone who is looking for a smaller sized high quality picture.

  4. I have only owned this TV for about a day so I can't speak for long term usage. The main reasons I wanted this TV over a few other choices were the built in ATSC tuner, the size, and the picture quality. The ATSC tuner accepts not only analog signals but digital signals as well (aka HDTV if supported by broadcaster). The TV pulled 7 digital channels from my HDTV-compatible antenna and three of them (NBC, CW, and FOX) broadcast in HD. The picture quality of the HD broadcasts is unbelievably crisp and clear. The size is convenient because 26" is big enough to enjoy but small enough to be movable if necessary, not to mention the TV is only about 3" deep and not heavy at all. When I hooked my progressive scan DVD player in through component cables the picture was again sharp and clear, making movies a joy to watch.
The little gripes I have (not big enough to deduct any stars) are the following:
    - Volume between analog/USB media and digital/DVD media is much different. The analog and USB are much louder and require me to turn down the volume each time I use them after a digital channel.
    - There is no volume display when adjusting (VOL ---|--------) though there is one in the audio menu.
    - Weak channels automatically delete, though this hasn't a problem for me yet.

That's it! Other than those 3 things I LOVE this TV and HIGHLY recommend it!

  5. I've had this TV for quite a while now and haven't had an issue.
The only complaint I have is the black frame around the screen hides part of the picture and close captions on the bottom.
Otherwise it's a very nice quality unit...

  1. JVC LT42X579 42-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV
This TV costs less than other TV's with similar features. What I learned before I went out to purchase a TV of this type was make sure it is 1080p and that it is full HDTV. This TV has both these things. It also has so many features to numerous to list here. The most important thing for me is the picture quality and this TV blew me away. I am so happy with my purchase of this TV I just had to let people know that they do not need to spend a lot of money to get a top quality TV. Don't disregard this TV when making your decision as to what brand TV to buy. I took the extra money and purchased a top quality "Surge Protector". Oh, also, I didn't need to buy the HDTV cable that can be very expensive. My cable company gave me the cable for free. So you may want to check it out before you buy the cable. Hope this has been some help as I am far from an expert on these TV's.

5 comments about Sony Bravia S-Series KDL-46S3000 46-Inch 720p LCD HDTV.
  1. Excellent TV, bright/vivid colors, no viewing angle problems. I bought this TV through Amazon after much research. The whole experience was flawless.

  2. I am NOT a tech person, just average with TV's & PC's. The Sony Bravia was a snap to hook up, I used one HDMI cable from the cable box, and the other HDMI cable from the DVD into the back of the Sony Bravia, and I was all done! Simple. The set looks outstanding, and comes with a clear manual of instructions. It will do a lot more than I need (i.e. PIP) and yet it is simple to operate. An excellent buy for the money, and a Consumer Reports "Best Buy" in their recent magazine (according to my brother who noticed it). I highly recommend this set since 720p is what the stations will be broadcasting in and the picture is fabulous.

  3. Sony just makes great products. This year's NFL games in HD were even more spectacular on this unit. Sound quality is more than adequate. Black unpolished frame surround makes this blend well in our bedroom. My next TV will again be a Sony.

  4. We purchased this TV last fall from Amazon. Even though it's "only" 720p, the picture quality when watching HD channels and DVD's is excellent. The quality of regular TV channels is decent and watchable. We also use it to watch Netflix streaming movies through our computer and the experience is surprisingly good.
If you buy from Amazon, don't forget to watch the prices for 30 days after the purchase. If the price is reduced, Amazon will refund you the difference. We got almost $100 back this way, but they will not do it automatically. You need to send them an email and ask for it.

  5. Beautiful color...beautiful resolution, beautiful sound. We have not found any negatives to this TV.
