  1. It's a nice TV, beautiful I might say. In Emeril terms, the picture is BAM!, the aesthetic is BAM!, the features are BAM!

  2. Don't buy this TV. This company has NO customer service. I got my TV at the end of February, and it was working OK. The picture is quite pixalated and you have to remember that you get what u pay for.

It is April 12 and we have been trying for 3 days to get a call back from the company with regards to shipping the tv or getting someone in to service it. The unit has gone "wonky" it is stuck in an endless loop cycle and will not react to the remote nor the on/off button. HUGE MISTAKE, and my goal is to make sure no one else makes this mistake. I always read negative posts on the web and never believed them, but now being a victim of this crappy company, I feel I MUST take a stand on the matter.

  3. I was told when I purchased this television that it had great sound, but I didn't quite believe until I got it home.
Now I have it at home, the audio is awsome! Freiends who come by can't believe the sound is coming from the TV without a stereo.
The Hannspree Wing has a "powered sub-woofer out" and I'm planning on getting one so I can get that rumble people get with their 5.1 systems.
I can't say enough how much I enjoy using this television!
    -John

  4. I would look elsewhere if you are trying to find an entry level LCD. The picture color quality on this set was never accurate, especially in HD. CNet's review on this product confirms that this is a problem with this set. My set had a wiring problem several months in and after that steadily went downhill. I've since moved on and I would suggest you carefully weigh your options before pulling the trigger on this t.v.

  1. I just bought this tv a few days ago and it's great! The picture quality is amazing! I have monster HDMI cables and Optimum HD and tv shows never looked so beautiful. The sound is really good. I leave it on 17 or so and I believe it goes up to the 70's. Don't quote me on that though. I also have an Xbox 360 hooked up via the component cables and it makes me truly appreciate the investment I made buying the next-gen console. There are plenty of inputs/outputs. The only gripe I have so far is that the remote is really simple. Sony remotes usually have a ton of options and buttons but not this one. You can even connect your computer onto the tv and have picture in picture with the tv playing in the bottom right. (haven't tried yet though!) I really recommend buying this TV. It is a fair price for a great product.

  2. This TV is outstanding. The picture and sound quality is out of this world! Sony has made this HDTV to be the best one out on the market. I was totally blown away by the resolution and sharpness. The sound is superb. It is well worth the price. I highly recommend buying this one -- bravo Bravia!!!

  3. I purchased the KDL-26M3000 and it it arrived in a perfectly mint box but was extremely scratched up on the front frame and looked used. For reference, floor model, open box TVs are usually in MUCH better condition. It also came directly from Amazon and not a partner. It is very difficult to imagine this was not intentional but I moved on and attempted to return it. I had to call 6x and it took over two weeks for the shipper to pick it up. They took it back but obviously it was a huge hassle and I would not shop Amazon for anything of significance as a result. There are simply too many other vendors available. Best of luck.

    -Jason

  4. The quality of this brand is outstanding. The colors are bright and vivid and the picture is clear. The viewing angles are amazing at 178 degrees, which puts you pretty much standing right along side the tv. Its a good idea to view all the sellers for this product, because I was able to find one who offered free shipping, and that made the purchase all the more attractive. The price is a little bit more then other brands, but I promise, you won't be unhappy with this lcd once you get it. I liked my first Bravia so much, this makes my third purchase of this brand.

  5. I bought this TV several months ago and I've been very happy with it. The picture is crisp and the sound is good (most of the time I can set it in the low 20's). The remote doesn't have a lot more buttons than the number pad but how many more do you need? Menu navigation is easy; I can quickly turn on closed captioning when needed and then turn it off. I purchased the cables required to connect my laptop to the TV so I can watch shows on the Internet on my TV. That setup is quick and easy. Overall, a TV I'd recommend.

2 comments about Mitsubishi LT-46149 46-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with Integrated Sound Projector.
  1. Walk into a discount electronics store and you will be offered many reasonably priced LCD and Plasma HDTVs.

So prevalent is the price competition that it is easy to overlook that a high-end system such as this incredible Mitsubishi 46 in LCD may in fact represent better value than its low priced cousins. Every aspect of this system is designed to maximize the viewing (and listening) experience. As a result this unit does represent a much better overall value than the low priced HDTVs. Here is why:

We start with the picture, and to do that we should look at it in 1080p. I have a Sony BDP-S301 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player BD/DVD/CD Playback with Bonus HDMI Cable which connected quickly to one of four HDMI jacks on the set. The input jacks are all located on the back put are lined up vertically along the back. This is a nice touch as you know if you have ever wall-mounted a flat screen and need to add or change a component. It is an example of the user-friendliness that is incorporated throughout.

The Blu-Ray delivered deep clear colors, far surpassing the quality of my other 1080p set, VIZIO Gallevia 42-inch LCD HDTV 1080p GV42LF. Mitsubishi has numerous technological reasons that it can deliver such an incredible picture, but having never studying electronic engineering, I can only speak to the results, and the results are truly amazing.

Even on lesser settings, such as standard definition satellite, the picture quality is excellent. Non Blu-Ray DVDs are decidedly improved.

But superior video requires superior audio and once again Mitsubishi does not disappoint. The set has a built in "Sound Projector" with sixteen speakers on the front. These speakers operate to produce a true surround sound, readily customizable to room conditions. Rear speakers are not necessary to obtain excellent Dolby quality. It is actually fun using the electronic controls to optimize the surround audio. For instance, I watched a period piece, A Room with a View [Blu-ray]. The petticoats of the Victorian women rustle as they cross the room. As two actors walk across a meadow, the crunch of grass under their feet is clear.

On the whole, watching and listening with this HDTV less less like going to a movie theater and more like looking out onto the world from an open window. Only reason reminds you that you are not a part of the world on the screen.

This set provides a great opportunity to upgrade television viewing at a price that is still reasonable.

  2. Mitsubishi is the first to take LCD TV to the next logical step, they have added spectacular sound to a spectacular picture. When the first flat screen TVs came out they either had no speakers or speakers so bad you had to invest in a home audio system. Even today, many LCDs are plagued with sub par sound quality. I have a LG 37LG50 37-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV, Gloss Piano Blackthat has an excellent picture but I have to turn the bass and treble down to 0-15 so that loud sounds and explosions don't rattle the bezel that covers the speakers. Sound bar technology has become more popular due to the low quality of speakers in flat panel TVs and because people don't want to run wires all over their houses. I am sure with the advent of the 149 series the other TV makers are saying "Why didn't I think of that?".

Anyway, my wife wanted to replace our monster Hitachi rear projection CRT HD Ultravision (57S700)with a flat screen. I longed for our old house with the 5.1 surround. Our current living room has a 2 story ceiling and is open to the kitchen...you can't fish walls and my wife hates wires. I also wanted to put the TV on a stand so I can put the sat box and PS3 on the stand below it. And, I didn't want to mount it and hang a sound bar under it. The Mitsubishi fit the bill perfectly. A TV and Sound Bar all in one.

When it arrived via Amazon's White Glove delivery service, I was so enthralled with the picture and sound I forgot to have them take the box away. Amazon White Glove delivery will call ahead, unbox and put your TV where you want it, and take the box away...they don't connect it though. I had everything all set to go when they came and they hung around just to make sure it worked and didn't need to be returned....NICE! UPS PLEASE TAKE NOTE

Anyway, I am putting the set through its paces. I have DISH HD and have watched several HD movies and an NFL game on Dish. BTW the remote can learn from yours but I prefer to use the Dish remote and I scanned and found the code no problem. 1080i HD from Dish is excellent on here, the colors are more vivid then my 37" LG 50. SD looks much better then my old 1080i Hitachi. Of course the TV is trying to fit 480 lines into 1080, but still it is better then earlier 1080i sets.

The set ships in "Brillant" mode which is very bright and makes it stand out in a show room. I have turned it down to Bright during the day and Natural at night. Stunning picture quality when watching Dish. And the picture quality goes from stunning to jaw dropping when watching 1080p. I have a Playstation 3 40GB connected which plays games in 720p and Blu-Ray Movies in 1080p. Both the TV and the PS3 also play Blu-Ray movies in 24p aka 24 frames a second. This reduces studder in the picture by playing the movie at 24 frames like it was shot and not 60 frames like most TVs display them and have to fill those frames which can cause stutter. I have watched Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World [Blu-ray] Casino Royale [Blu-ray]and Twister [Blu-ray] and the picture is like you are watching a play with real people, not a movie. Every freckle, wrinkle, and minute detail are all there. Stunning. Black levels are black and colors are rich and realistic. I have also been playing NCAA Football 09 and Battlefield: Bad Company Gold Edition and the picture and SOUND have been a true joy.

The outstanding sound from the integrated Sound Projector is easily fully customizable to project 5.1 sound into your room. It has a diagram where you input where your couch and TV are in the room and how far your seat is from your TV and how big the room is. It also has a custom set up that uses white noise like 5.1 home theaters use to tweak the sound levels and projections. While the sound bar alone is better then the audio from any other flat screen TV I know of, combining it with a powered sub is the ticket. I am using the Yamaha YST-SW216BL Advanced YST II Front-Firing Active Subwoofer and it greatly compliments the Sound Projector. The extra oomph in movies and video games and even football games is worth the price.

    PROS

True Home Theater Sound from a flat screen TV
    Stunning, fully customizable picture
More connection inputs then the majority of TVs including USB
Thin size means its the size of some 40 inch TVs and no bezel glare
24p for stutter free Blu Ray movie play back
Ease of set up (you connect something and it promps you to name it, nice)
    Ships with base on
Grills over speakers = no bezel noise
Night audio setting, common to Home Theater Systems
Semi matte screen, greatly reduced glare then from high gloss screens

    CONS

No picture in a picture *I realize many stbs from cable and sat companies now have pip, it would be nice to have PIP so I can see both my sat and PS3,there is now an online PS3 game that displays your fantasy football score live

Small con in that to truly get the best sound you need to invest a little more in a powered subwoofer

    Neutral

120 hz, I must add this is neutral to me because I can't see a major difference. I know that some can and insist on it.

Cost-however this TV costs about the same as a quality soundbar and TV purchased seperately so its a non-issue to me.

  1. This is a great Plasma.I have been looking for more than a year for the right Plasma. My computer teacher convinced me to buy a Panasonic 42" PLasma HDTV.I've had it for over a month and it is absolutely fantastic. The picture clarity is outstanding and the color is beautiful and very real.So far, this has been a great investment and I believe I have the best out there.

  2. It took a long time but I finally made up my mind and bought one. I'm on Comcast with extended basic. The tv tuned in all the local HD feeds and they look great. I particularly like the PBS channel's HD feed, but all the major network's pictures are fantastic. The audio from the HD feeds is nice and full. Overall the experience when watching HD feeds is super. The standard channels look ok with the right screen setting, at least no worse than my old tube. The TV is a little slow to change channels when you input the channel directly, but it moves quickly when navigating up or down. The HD channels are all number dash number. For instance, ABC is on channel 7, but the HD feed is 7-1. To tune that station I have to navigate up from channel 7. Not a big deal but I cannot input it directly.
I hooked up a Phillips upconvert DVD player using a three dollar HDMI cable I also found on Amazon and the picture is fantastic. It was definitely worth the 60 bucks I paid at Sam's Club for it.
So, the picture looks great and the TV sounds good. I have the set in a very bright room and the antiglare does a nice job of eliminating reflections while not degrading the picture. My only regret is not getting the 50".

  3. First of all let me say that this is a spectacular tv! I first wanted an lcd at first but when I saw the plasmas, they really caught my eye. After a lot of research I wanted the th-42pz700u but then saw it side by side with the th-42pz77u and was sold. The 77u didn't have the glare of the 700u thanks to it's anti-glare and anti-reflective surface. Plus the colors seemed richer in the 77u. So it went on sale at Fry's for $1199 and Sears had it for $1805. Sears has a price protection guarantee so I got it for $1199 that Fry's had if for PLUS $51 off of that for a total of $1148. Sears gives you 10% of the difference in the price so the huge price difference worked in my favor! Love it!

  4. My wife and I are very pleased with this t.v. The unit fits beautifully in our family room, the footprint on the same cabinet our old t.v. was on. The sound is probably average judging from what they say about sound on other similar tv's. I decreased the treble to lessen the "sss" effect in some of the speech.

  5. I bought this TV from Sears with extended warranty . I loved it until couple months later, It went blank after I turned the power on . I called Sears and the tech came 5 times to fix and he finally couldn't fix it . The problem has been going on for two months now and the broken TV is still at my house ...
Panasonic used to be a really good branch but not any more . I am very disappointed with the TV, Panasonic 1 year warranty service and specially Sears's 3 three years warranty service.
Will not recommend to any one .

  2. This is overall a great TV for the money. But when you change channels it takes about 3 seconds to tune in. This can be annoying if you like to channel surf

  1. We have owned this for about 6 months now and haven't had any problems. THe picture is beautiful, can look a bit pixelized if your too close but I do believe this TV is meant to be viewed at around 10 - 15 feet away. The sound is nice, could be a bit more powerful but most people (including us) go through a stereo these days.

We have digital cable and it looks great, DVD's great also. Those are really the only two we've tried on it, I would imagine analog cable wouldn't look too bad nor would VHS tapes. It does take a bit long to power up, but no more than 30 seconds if I had to guess, it'd be more like 20. We bought this on sale when it was just 800/850ish which is an amazing value compared to other LCD's of it's size. We did order it through amazon with the extended warrenty, which I suggest. It was delivered rather quickly and amazon hires out a company to come delivery and set it up for you.

Set up looked easy to me, and I probably will be able to do it again by myself easy. There are enough inputs for our cable, dvd/vhs player and PS2 and then some. I did my research and I couldn't be happier with what we paid!

  2. Works great on the xbox and doubles up as a monitor for my laptop. Added a wireless keyb and mouse and now the laptop is a media center!

    Bonus!

Max res seems to b only 1024x768 but clarity is excellent.

  3. Bought this a few months ago - tinkered around with all the settings - hooked it up to my PS3(80gb model - the best!!) - used DVD & blu-ray calibration disks to fine-tune and after endless hours of experimentation the results are satisfying - if not spectacular.
    1) Connections - has more than what you might normally need, unless you are a hardcore techie setting up a really hifi home-theater setup. Go thru the specs
    2) Audio - from a layman's perspective(& I would consider myself slightly up the curve compared to a layman), audio is excellent. Bass is terrific - (pseudo)surround-sound works like magic with TV programs that broadcast in surround sound - it is not tinny to hear. Supports optical digital out which might be downmixed to dolby pro-logic. That should not matter in case you are feeding audio from your sources to your home-theater receiver. IMP NOTE - if you hook-up your AV source to this TV via HDMI, audio is downmixed to 2-ch LPCM. (Note that LPCM is pure uncompressed, better than compressed formats like dolby digital or DTS, channel for channel - of course, this is 2-ch so again recommendation is to connect your AV source to your home theater receiver).
    3) Video - this is spectacular. This TV is billed as a 1080i but make no mistake it accepts full 1080p inputs. The result (my viewing distance is around 8 ft) is indistinguishable from an equivalent 1080p (I spent tons of hours in research and comparison). Colors, detail & sharpness are ourstanding when watching BD movies from my PS3 hooked up via HDMI. Absolutely no complaints.
IMP NOTE - it is essential that you spend time calibrating all the myriad pic options to suit you best. I found that if I started by setting all options "dead center or middle" and then tweaking each one as high as my eye found pleasing, with final fine-tuning touches by using calibration DVDs, results were spectacular. Spend time on these calibrations and your labors will be rewarded.
I DO NOT have HD TV transmission - have regular DirecTV but the results are still VERY GOOD. Yes, there is a slight smudginess etc(will be there when you watch regular transmission on ANY HDTV) but this one likely deals with it in the best possible way. The results are as if you are watching the best quality VHS tape and oh yes - the south asian channels that I get - for some reason look almost HD-like on this TV.
I got it on sale for 839/- and in its size-class this is probably the best one for the price, still!!!! Go TOSHIBA REGZA!!!

  4. Great picture. Excellent white glove delivery. It was so good that I bought a 2nd one exactly like it for our 2nd bedroom.

  5. I have had this TV for about 5 months (yes, I used my tax rebate). I was lucky and found it on sale as an end of line since the new ones were coming out. I had gone to the store planning to buy the newest Toshiba 37" (not Regza) but got this one instead as it was exactly the same for less money. I love it! I had upgraded from a 21" CRT so it was a huge improvement. I find the picture quality, sound and menus to be very good. My only complaint is when I watch DVDs I have to turn the sound way up, but this is probably not really an issue with the TV itself. I researched the LCD market heavily before I bought and I believe I made the best choice for me. I highly recommend this TV (and Toshiba in general) as a great choice for a great price.

  1. I'll try to give as detailed a review as possible here.

    Picture Quality: 5/5 stars
I'm sure this is what you're most interested in and I can tell you it is absolutely beautiful. The black levels on this tv are fantastic for an LCD product. The picture is extremely sharp and detailed and the colors are absolutely fantastic. I used the Avia Essentials Guide to Home Theater Avia II to calibrate the tv and it did make a pretty big difference in the overall quality of the picture. The one area where the set shines is with the ability to tweak every aspect of the picture. They have the standard settings (contrast, brightness, color, sharpness, etc.), plus they have additional advanced settings for each color. You can tweak this thing to get it spot on and it doesn't take long to do.

    HDTV: 5/5 stars
I've got this hooked up to a PS3 (bluray) and an Xbox 360 and the video is absolutely gorgeous. I've watched BluRay and regular DVD's through the PS3 on this set and they are stunning. The BluRay's almost feel as if you can jump into the picture. DVD's, even though running at a much lower resolution still look great on this set. Part of that is due to the upscaling in the PS3 and the rest is up to the TV. I must say I'm impressed with the picture quality. Also, for gaming, I've noticed no motion blur or any type of ghosting. The set is very fast and keeps up with the action and is extremely smooth.

    Standard Def Material: 3/5 stars
I currently have a regular satellite receiver hooked up to the tv and the feed from it is definitely watchable. Is it the prettiest thing ever? no...however, it's not distracting either. You just have to know (as everyone should), if you buy an HDTV to watch standard def television, you'll be unhappy. Therefore I'm not basing my overall review score on this section.

    Inputs/Outputs: 5/5 stars
Three HDMI inputs - all 1.3 compliant
Three component inputs (up to 1080i)
    2 composite/svideo inputs
2 coaxial cable inputs (1 for an antenna, another for a cable box/reciever)
    1 digital coaxial output

    Controller: 4/5 stars
There's nothing flashy about the controller that ships with the tv but it works well and gets the job done. The buttons are backlit so you can see them in the dark, and I actually like the input selection. You hit the Input button and then you can arrow left and right to choose the input you'd like to use. Some will like this feature, others would rather just have separate input buttons on the controller. Like I said, nothing special, but it works and it's a programmable controller so you can use it for 4 other devices.

    Speakers (sound quality): 2.5/5 stars
If there was one place where I feel this set falls short, it would be in the sound category. The speakers actually sound pretty bad. I've never been a fan of tv speakers so I'm not letting this reflect in the overall score I gave this television. When you consider how small the frame is around the picture, it's not surprising that it doesn't sound all that great. However, I'd say most people (including myself) hook their nice, hdtv's up to a receiver or external set of speakers so I'm not going to crucify the set on this alone.

    Conclusion: 5/5 stars
If you are looking for a tv that produces a stunning picture, especially when watching high def material, I think this is an absolutely phenomenal set. It has all the perks of an LCD (low screen glare, super crisp picture, no burn in, etc.) with many of the positives of a plasma (great black levels, ability to handle fast moving scenes, great color). I definitely recommend a bluray player (now that hd-dvd seems to be dying out) if you want to see what this set can really do. It is jaw dropping. On the negative side, if you place a lot of stock in the sound that comes from a tv, you may be unhappy with this set. I'm basing my review score on the picture quality, inputs/outputs, and setup of the set. I'd buy it again.

  2. I purchased this TV 3 days ago. This model was introduced about Oct, 2007, and is a comparable to other 120 Hz/1080p TVs introduced then. This is my first HDTV. The first program I watched was a PBS special about Mt Everest. This was a 1080i signal received over basic Comcast signal (not the HD package). Stunning views of Everest lit by moonlight with stars overhead, sunsets, sunrises, etc. I thought the blacks and color tones were quite good. We sit 8 feet away and don't think it's too big. I hope to get many years from this TV because of the Mitsubishi quality.

    Pros:
120Hz (should be good for sports, but I haven't watched any)
    Separate adjustments for red,green,blue,cyan,magenta,yellow
Backlit remote, programmable and well designed
    Easy to use onscreen menus
USB port for photo viewing from flash drive (worked fine)
    2 coax cable inputs
HDMI 1.3 for deep color (if anyone ever creates material for it!)
Good viewing angles side to side

    Cons:
    Horrible, tinny sound from speaker
Upper corners are slightly brighter than rest of screen when viewed on dark screen, but not terrible.
Has only 2 color temp adjustments (warm and cool).

I haven't tried bluray or HD-DVD yet. One other thing: I suspect I would have loved almost any of the HDTVs in the store once I got it home. They all seem really good.

Edit: I've now had this TV for over 2 weeks. The TV will occasionally (rarely) shutdown on it's own. It can be turned back on in a minute. Other owners have this same problem [...]. Email to Mitsubishi by me and others has been unanswered. I suspect this is a software problem, but I'm not sure. Playing Photos via USB flash drive is painfully slow; takes 15/seconds per photo even though I set the slideshow to 5 seconds. USB does not respond to the remote control very well.

Color is even better after days of fiddling with color controls. Built-in upscaling of DVDs is good, but my Samsung upscaling DVD does even better job. Nearly as good as the Blu-ray disks from the blu-ray player I connected.

  3. I have owned this TV for four months now (bought it in early March 08). In June, I had a line going from top to bottom appear in the left hand side. I immediately took it in to a authorized dealer, who diagnosed the problem as a bad panel. They ordered the part from Mitsubishi over a month ago and they still have not recieved it. I have called Mits. several times in the last two weeks trying to find out why it has not been sent (as well as the repair dealer also calling) and we keep getting told the part has been back ordered and should be in anytime. I find it funny that the manufacturer of the TV has to order parts from someone else, number 1. Number 2, their customer service has been rude, short and I have tried 4 times to talk to a manager and have left my number for them to call me, and I have yet to hear from them. Number 3. I feel that if they are going to take this long to get a part, they ought to just give me a new set. I have missed many sporting events that I wanted to see in HD, as well as ordered a HD DirecTV dish and DVR unit that I have paid for over a month and have not got to use.

In other words, I would completely stay away from this company. I just about did not get this tv because of horror stories I had read about them to begin with, but when I looked at the tv in the store, it was quite amazing in picture quality, though the audio was lacking (sounded very tinny). The set itself is very good, Just that this company's service is HORRIBLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. Great TV. No issues. Wonderful delivery from Amazon. Make sure to search the web for the ideal settings for this TV and it will look wonderful. Also, I got a great tip online to protect this potentially fragile LCD from kids...buy a piece of Lexan and some velcro tape to make a protective screen. It introduces a little glare, but protects from having a $1900 paperweight.

  2. I just replaced my 2nd Sony Bravia in 4 months. I had delamination on both sets. Highly dissappointed. Change to a Samsung. So far so good

  3. I gave this TV 1 star because I could not give it zero star. I was deciding between the Mitsubishi LT-46133 and this Sony DKL46V3000. Mitsubishi had much better features, but I decide to buy the Sony because
it had slightly better contrast in the dark areas. Big mistake buying this piece of lemon. I bought the unit on 12/22/07, the unit malfunctioned by doing auto shut down on 3/7/08. It has been in the repair shop twice since then and I hope to get it back before the end of May 2008. Sony offered me a replacement refurbished unit, saying the unit is more than 30 days. I refused because I paid for a new TV, not a refurbished unit. When I ask Robert at Customer Relations if this quality is acceptable, his reply is "things happen, and you turned down our offer to exchange it [with a refurbished unit]". Some one at work suggested I take them to Small Claims Court, which Robert replies "that is your peragative". Compare this to my friend's Mitsubishi TV bougt in Nov 2007 and my parent's Samsung TV bought in Dec 2007 which are still working fine.

  4. I was going to buy a 52" Sony, but after playing with this set, I'm glad I settled into a 46". The picture is plenty big enough in my living room. And with my Sony home theater system set up, everything works very well.

  5. Lots of LCD TVs out there so buying one can be overwhelming. We are enjoying this set lots.
