  1. First, the Price Alert.... Best Buy will sell this set right now for $1759 !
Just ordered one this morning, base on previous model reviews and the addition of 3D capability. (and I'm surprised the Amazon price is so high!)

The salesperson at Best Buy stated that these are on "discontinued status" already. Apparently they are not selling enough of the BIG sets. They will continue to stock for the next several months!

  2. This product more than met my expectations. I'm not a techno-file, but I think the picture is excellent. Color is great and the HD feed from my satellite looks awesome. The sound is a little lacking, but not enough for a four star rating. Games and Blu-Ray movies from my PS3 are almost unbelievable. It takes up a little more space than a plasma or LED, but the HUGE price savings make the little bit of lost space worth it. I would have paid 3X for a comparable plasma.

  1. I set this TV up for a friend and the factory settings are not all that great. I changed the settings to VIVID then turned off/low ALL the noise reduction, gamma, black, etc filters with color temp at warm. Sharpness down to 20. With those settings, WOW!!! I was blown away with the picture quality on blu-ray discs via PS3 (Layer Cake, 5th Element, TMNT). Absolutely gorgeous picture. Played Battlefield Bad Company and it was a crisp, sharp, clean, beautiful picture. Gaming looks great!!! If you are looking for a 32" set, this is THE ONE! Best 720P 32" out there. Never seen anything better for this price.

  1. I have always purchased Sony TVs, even since my family got its first Trinitron. The Sonys are always a notch above other TVs, which is why they cost more. That being said this might be the cream of the crop when it comes to TVs. Get this TV and you can literally tell your friends that your TV is better than their's, sight unseen. They might hate you for it until they come over and see it for themselves.
The images are sharp, as you would expect them to be. Going to the store to see it doesn't give it justice until you lower the brightness and the contrast on the TV. Because stores always blast all the settings to full, distorting the picture into some super bright blob. Get it home, calibrate it to the proper contrast and brightness settings and then sit back and enjoy. The picture will blow you away.

  2. This is a very good buy. Easy to set-up and operate. Colors are great & images are extremely clear.

  3. This set is gorgeous, and I don't know why I waited so long to buy one.
The picture is truly unbelievable. The only negative was the set up, Maybe because my husband and I are over 50. If you are also, get someone to hook it all up for you. You will love it.

  4. Like many, I trolled the reviews of this set for a while and deliberated between this and the Samsung. I settled on the Sony for a few reasons:
    Anti Glare Coating
Picture Quality seemed a little more natural
    Style of the set
    Brand name

Most people have read the technical aspects of the set - it performs very well. I have it hooked up to Comcast HD and the picture quality is excellent. You do need to calibrate the set so search the internet and get better settings than out of the box - but overall you will be amazed with the PQ.

The only reason I didnt rate it 5 stars is there is still some motion artifacts with the set. I consider 5 stars a perfect viewing experience, and this set comes close, but there is still work to be done.

    HD Cable looks great
    SD cable looks so-so
    Blu-rays look AMAZING
    PS3/XBOX 360/Wii all look awesome

    4/5 - would buy again.

  5. I did alot of research before I bought this television and it has the most amazing picture and color. I would recommend to anyone you won't be disappointed!

  1. Nice picture especially after a little fiddling. It looks a
lot bigger than I thought. Easy to hook up and the sounds not bad.
Its a good looking TV. Shows well in a bright room.

  2. Sharp, beautiful picture. My daughter and I set this up in minutes. Lightweight set, yet large picture image. Very slim! Excellent white glove delivery, also.

  3. I received my tv with a damaged panel. Thankfully, Samsung provides free in-home repair for their products through their authorized repair agents. It was a good experience, relatively hassle free, and now the TV looks as good as it should have to begin with. It has all of the basic functions that you'd look for, including 2 HDMI and 2 component inputs, and a host of picture settings. The sound is fine but not thrilling, and chances are it's a bedroom tv (my situation) or you have a surround sound hookup through the digital audio out. I am very pleased with the depth of the blacks, as at 8,000:1 the contrast ratio is as high as many plasmas were just a year ago. The color accuracy is quite good (once you do some calibration to your tastes) and the dedicated brightness setting helps you customize it to the brightness of the room you are in. I haven't noticed any false conturing nor any motion blur, as the refresh rate is also good. Though maxing out at 1080i/720p, at this size the extra dollars for 1080p are really wasted. Save your money there and get a 19-in LCD for the kitchen! My simple, yet favorite, feature is the input recognition. No cycling through all possible inputs to get to the one you want; only active inputs come up when cycling through your sources. Nothing really negative to say... other than the lag between turning on the set and getting a picture, but that is a common LCD trait. The TV's design is attractive, has all of the features you really need, and was a really reasonable price (thank you Lightning Deals!). I recommend it.

  4. Easy set-up and connections. Once I attached the HDMI cables it looked great. Very pleased with the picture. From purchase to delivery ,(through Amazon), it was a very satisfactory experience.

  5. What can I say? I got this TV for dirt cheap. I got it hooked up via component cables through my cable box and the picture looks crisp! I don't know why but my cable box doesn't have an HDMI outlet, but it does have 2 firewire ports and a USB port, WTF?! Shame on Cox Cable. I do however have HDMI hooked up through my PS3 and the picture is far superior than my HD Cable. The speakers are surprisingly good, especially through HD sound on Blu-ray, can't ask for more for a bedroom TV. Very satisfied with the TV and Amazon delivery.

  1. This is my first HDTV. I bought this TV to replace my old SDTV and my fairly new dell monitor. The game options also peaked my interest. As a computer monitor it has met all expectations. I have large space to work with and everything looks great. I haven't played many games yet but I haven't seen any ghosting in TF2, Vampire: TM, or Audiosurf. Be sure to set the view mode to Dot to Dot when using this as a monitor, it looks best that way.

I have my WII, PS3, and PS2 hooked up also. WII and PS2 games look just as good as they did on the SDTV. I am only using the PS3 as bluray player/dvd upscaler at the moment. Bluray looks great and DVDs look a lot better than they did on SDTV.

Over the air HD looks great. SD over cable looks good to unwatchable depending on which channel I watching. Unfortunately the channels I want most are not offered in HD yet by comcast. The scifi channel is extremely bad and is the channel I care about the most. I might cancel my cable until they have HD for it. There is no SD channel that looks better than it did on my SDTV. You will want to keep this in mind if you are watching mostly SD.

The best thing about this TV is it has inputs up the wazzu. No need to buy a $50 to $100 hdmi switch box with this tv. Note also the component inputs are 1080p as well.

The bad thing about this monitor is that there is no DVI input. I am using a dvi to hdmi cable for the computer. This is the only way to get the resolution I want. Another poor point is the way you change inputs. They way it is setup makes using a universal remote hard. They didn't include a separate button for each input. Instead you have the cycle through to the one you want. There is no way for a universal remote to know which input you are currently on so you can not setup a macro to switch to different devices because the remote will never know how long to cycle through inputs to get to the device you want. If each button input had a button assigned to it using a universal remote would be easy. Minor problem but enough to take off a star for me.

One more thing that is bad about this tv. There is no Picture in Picture or Picture Beside Picture. Given all they packed into this TV I find this odd to leave off.

Even with the problems I think this is a great TV. No ghosting or banding. No dead pixels. Just the right sized for my small apartment. Not perfect but darn close.

  2. The only drawback is high price, but SHARP LC-32GP3U has the best picture and sound quality of any 32" LCD TV currently on the market. 1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution works great as PC monitor using DVI-to-HDMI cable. Very slick design. No regrets.

  3. This is my first and only HDTV. I do have to say it is by far the best I have ever owned. I normally buy high end TV's and this is certainly one. Picture quality is great, and the user friendliness is easy.

  4. Sharps AQUOS LC32GP3U exceeded all my expectations. After an intense education process about HD TV's. I knew I wanted a good picture (even with an antenna only) along with enough hookups and choice in hookups for my VHS, DVD, Games, etc.. Sharp really accommodated my main concerns without buying added equipment or cables for what I already had. This LCD really accommodates every hook up possible except DVI, the newer upgrade to HDMIx3 was not needed for my use because I'm not using this as a computer monitor. The ability to hook this up to a computer and use it for on-line use was also an appealing option. The swiveling base as also a nice feature as well as the slim design and extra side hookups for easy access for games camcorders etc. From the moment I pulled this out of the box to full set up it took less than twenty minutes. Very easy to work and I didn't need to rely on the manual or a professional to install my TV, as a single female I didn't need a strong man to pick it up for me either. I highly recommend this TV and may even purchase another one for my sons games. The only draw back is watching VHS, which is not set up for HD quality. Even liked the analog stations, but not as well as the HD. I am not disappointed at all.

  5. Excellent product with good sound from the speakers in front. The LCD has the ability to recognise the active port and is capable of displaying PS3 games in 720p & 1080p when connected via HDMI. The regular DVD's also have better clarity and sound.

A good product for a person wishing to operate a gaming system on, highly recommended.

  1. This is as good as it gets. Great TV and a great company to do business with. The TV came by special truck and was setup by them in a few minutes. White glove service all the way. Oh, did I fail to mention it was the lowest price as well. $700 less than Best Buy!

  2. After lengthly investigation, we bought this instead of an LCD Sony or Samsung because we though the LCD screens might get damaged too easily by our small children. After a month or so of use, we are very pleased with the Panasonic plasma. Great picture. No evidence of burn in. No significant problems with reflections, partly due to where we happen to use it. Only two small gripes: 1) For some goofy reason, Panasonic puts the channel up/down toggle on its remote controls where the volume up/down usually goes (on the left side), and its volume up/down where the channel up/down usually goes (on the right side). The remote is otherwise nicely designed. 2) The TV includes an SD card slot, which you can load up with photos, etc. They look great, but there is no random play feature on it, so if you have 500 photos on the card, you will always see Photos 1, 2, 3, etc; but never see Photos 498, 499, 500!

  3. I've had my Panasonic TH-46PZ80V set for about a month now and love it. It has an amazing picture and none of the glare issues I've read about in other reviews (and our living room gets a lot of direct sunlight during the day). I'd recommend this set to anyone. I especially love the insert my camera SanDisk for an instant slide show. The set even automatically orients the picture. Amazon had the cheapest price, free delivery, and they even unboxed it and set it up. Amazing service. Thanks Amazon.

  4. We recently bought the Panasonic Viera 46in plasma TV. The price was good and the delivery time excellent. The TV itself has an excellent picture and the controls (remote) are easy to use. Set-up was a breeze. This was our first time to buy a large electronic from Amazon. We are very pleased with the experience and will consider other large electronic purchases in the future.

  5. The picture is great. I thought my buddy's HP plasma was awesome...i didnt know anything. the surround sound even sounds great, though don't expect much in terms of bass. I have a double window about 4 ft from the TV and i havent felt any glare problems at all. I use FIOS, and my friends with comcast are stunned.

  1. Hi,
This is the 3rd hdtv lcd I have purchased this year but the 1st one I am happy with. I purchased a Samsung earlier this year after reading all the amazing reviews, maybe I was expecting too much but I felt disappointed when I had it at home. I then purchased the HP Media Smart 42" with the wifi, it is a nice lcd but it is way overpriced because of the useless wifi which is impossible to setup anyway. Took that right back to bestbuy the next day. Now for the Philips. I was debating whether to get the Sony Bravia L or this Philips. Even though this is more expensive I went with the Philips because of that gut feeling I had everytime I was disappointed with an lcd I told myself I should have got the Philips. Well I finally did and I am very happy with my purchase. I got it for $691 at Sams Club. As soon as it became available I ordered it. I have had it for 3 days now. As soon as I opened the box I liked the glass stand. The lcd itself has a very nice elegant minimalist design which I love. The remote is very simple I like it as well, one thing that would truly make it better would be some sort of backlight, but after a while I will memorize the location of the buttons anyway. When I plugged in all my equipment, just the cable box and the Cambridge Soundworks i765 which I use as my dvd player and external speakers for the lcd, I powered it on and it walked me thru the setup which is very simple. Instead of the usual numbers to calibrate the settings, it walks you thru sets of pictures, half of the screen one setting the other half the screen the other, you select which half you prefer, then the lcd knows what you prefer and it is all setup. It does the best job of analog of any of these newer hdtvs I have seen or had, that makes me very happy. It is also great for dvds and hdtv. All around and for the money it has me very happy. The reason I did not get the 42" is because for my room the 42" is just too big that is a big reason I returned the HP Mediasmart lcd besides that I realized that I overpaid for useless and complicated to setup wifi. So for anybody looking for a well priced lcd hdtv that is great for both analog and digital video this is a must buy television.

  2. Very satisfied with the TV just wish I went bigger.
    Jay

  3. I recently purchased this Philips 32" TV, and I am very pleased with my purchase. After looking at different models of 32" televisions available, the different brands and specs had me a little worried about making the right decision. However this TV has great picture, looks modern and stylish, has plenty of imputs, and is easy to use and program. It looks great for movies, games, and hd and regular TV programing, it even cleans up analog channels somewhat. I have also used a 32 inch samsung and I certainly could not say that it was is any better than this, in fact i think i prefer the philips. Also, as far as looking at specs when buying a tv, do not be worried if you are considering this television: considering its size and price range it is very competitive. I was a little worried about its 8ms response time considering samsung and some others have 6ms or even 4ms, but i cannot tell the difference and from what I have read there are differences between manufacturers when it comes to measuring such things; it also has a 26000 dynamic contrast ratio which is impressive i guess, but who really knows. The bottom line is this: picture looks great, movies look great, and video games look great, everything I needed from an HDTV; and it was easy to set up, just letting you select from different picutres to determine what type of settings you want. hope this was helpfull.

  4. I purchased this from a club store for 600 shipped and we are satisfied with the picture quality, multiple input connections and attractive frame (edges has clear plastic surround).
I think the one thing that differs this unit from the rest is the bright colors it produces, which gives more realism.
It has energy saver video setting that dims the pic which i prefer on bedtime.

  1. I bought this TV to replace the one in our bedroom, that was destroyed by a surge during a recent storm. (Dumb me, I didn't have a surge protector on it!) The old TV was a 13 inch screen and this one seems huge in comparison. It's the perfect size for the bedroom and has exceptional picture and sound quality. It fits with any decor and I absolutely love it. I would recommend it to anyone who asked! DON'T FORGET THE SURGE PROTECTOR!

  2. Had 2 of these in my home in the last 30 days, both had the same problem.Works great for the first 4 or 5 days. Then it will not come on if it is off for a few hours.I have found if it does not come on-unplug it from the wall for about 5 min.,plug it back in and it works again.

  3. I bought this Philips 19" LCD TV (the new model for 2008) and had the same odd problem as the other reviewer. Had it for a two weeks or so and then out of nowhere it wouldn't turn on. The little power light would flicker almost like it couldn't get over the first hump of a power draw. Anyway, I returned it without any problems and got a replacement (although this time with a two-year extended warranty covering everything - even damage I caused - for about $30 from Walmart). That way if there is that power issue you again I'm covered past the receipt return period. That being said, I still would recommend this TV over any other 19" LCD. The specs are better than almost everyone else and it is a very good looking (body), well made TV that has an amazing 720p HD picture. Even with regular over-the-air (or over-the-cable via the QAM) digital channels without a cable box. Don't let the sporadic power issue you prevent you from buying this as even with that issue I still highly recommend this TV if you want a 19". Also keep in mind that this (and probably most) TV doesn't save your settings if you unplug it.

  4. The Philips 19PFL3403D/27 19-Inch LCD HDTV is a fine piece of equipment. Purchased as a gift, I was tempted to keep it for personal use. Good color, good sound, good viewability, tilt feature, multiple options for chanel selection, and multiple input capabilities all make this a nifty TV. Menu navigation is not as simple as it could be but still workable. The "Preferred Channels" selection capability and the "Favorites" listing capability are nice features too. As expected, digital reception is better than analog using antenna reception in a fringe area.

  1. They call you cracker jack when you are very good or the best. My ratings are on a scale of 1-10.

9-Color/Viewing Angles: May need a little adjustment for individual preference. Flesh tones and such were a little off until adjusted. Blacks are good. View angles are really good. Excels in a dark room as well as with most of the shades up.

10-Size: The TV great for big room(16ft x 26ft). Quick access buttons to size choices of picture 16.9, 4.3, zoom 1x & 2x etc.

10-Hookup: Lots of different hookups. Everything form PC hookups to plenty of HDMI hookups for your Blu-Ray players. Perfect for the techy, but may be confusing for some people not accustom to having so many choices, but the manual explains it fairly well for any questions you may have.

10-Interface: The interface is very user-friendly and it does take long to adapt to. Actual selection menus are used and navigated with the arrow keys instead of just button clicks, and we also like the sound notifications of it when it's turned it off.

We really can't say anything bad about the TV works great, has plenty of connections for just about anything you can imagine, and has a great picture.

Shipping service was a little slow, probably due to the holiday during the delivery cycle, but the TV was handled very well. Shipping was free, so we can't complain. This is our first large order like this from Amazon, so we were a little nervous but I wouldn't hesitate to do it again after the experience with them this time.

  2. Vann's had a good selection and I found the TV I wanted.
Delivery happened 6 days after I ordered.
Great TV and the price was right. Thanks. I love it!

  3. I have been very happy with the quality of this TV as well as the price and service from amazon.com. The shipping was included (with Prime) and the guys set it up and took away the trash. They were also very flexible with my schedule, coming by after 5pm so that I could be home from work.

The TV looks great with my PS3 and the Blu-Ray movies I own. If you have a PS3, get one of these and NOT A PLASMA!!! Plasmas are not meant for games and you risk image burn in. The LCD and DLP TVs are less likely to develop screen retention (which is great for laptops also!).

    Well worth the price.

  4. The most bang for your buck. Great picture, colors, sounds. A TV this that looks this good, with this size screen, and the price, awesomeness galore! It's almost intoxicating how great this picture is on this thing.

  5. Just got mine today...four days after ordering! Incredible picture, sleek styling looks great in my living room, and the current financing deal is almost too good to be true. If you're in the market for an HDTV, you can't beat this bang for the buck. Buy it...you won't be disappointed.

  1. This TV is beautiful, very easy to set and operate and has a great picture.

  2. Service is a big problem.
I ordered this TV on 6-3-08 and was pleasantly surprised when it was delivered on 6-5-08 from TigerDirect. Unfortunately, there was no audio at all when it was hooked up. The merchant requires any warranty service be handled directly through Toshiba; fair enough. Several days elapsed when Toshiba tried to find a service to come repair it. I was advised of that shop's identity and phone number. I contacted them and was told that a part had to be ordered (although they never have personally seen the set I presume they may know their business). Since then, I have been told repeatedly, by the repair service and manufacturer, that the part is on backorder. The net result is that as of 8-14-08 I still have no audio (but have a very expensive paperweight) and no firm idea as to when or if this will be resolved.
    Be careful!

    UPDATED. (9-7)

I now have a functioning TV! The defective part was delivered and has been installed. Turns out it was a bad motherboard. The picture and sound on this set are now great. However, the above caution still stands. The delay was unconscionable.

  3. [...]

This TV arrived with a defective screen. I do not live near a major city, so it took EIGHT weeks to get my TV approved to send off, actually send off, and get back. NOW it is great - has a beautiful picture, and I am totally please with it.

But, I will NOT buy a large item like this online again, as EIGHT WEEKs is ridiculous to have spent my money but have no TV.

  4. We've had the Toshiba REGZA 37RV530U HDTV for about 3 months now. We got it to replace an old 19 inch TV which was just too small for our new bedroom viewed mostly from around 15-20 feet away. The upgrade to 37 inch was dramatic, we can actually read the DirecTV guide from bed now!
Picture quality on the 37RV530U with our DirecTV Satellite receiver (digital, standard definition) has been very nice after some adjustments, which this TV has plenty of. The surprise has been the over the air High Definition local stations (720p), which look superb on this TV. I attached an old bow tie type antenna we had, not expecting much, but surprisingly we receive most of the local SF Bay area stations in HD. It was a pleasure watching Olympics late night from bed in HD!
This TV also has a VGA input for attaching PCs, which works well for a TV. Have not tried anything at 1080p yet. I wish it had picture in picture, but most LCD HDTVs don't. Overall been very happy with this purchase, well done Toshiba.
For those who might want to save some money, you can go with a 720p HDTV and not sacrifice much unless you have a blueray player or a PS3.

  5. We are completely satisfide with the TV and also the service we got from Amazon. This was our first time ordering and the speed with which we got the TV was great. Saving on shipping was a real plus. The delivery person brought the TV in, hooked it up to the cable and left. No problems at all. The pictures on the TV are great - sharp and clear. There is a few second hesitation when you go to a different channel, but this to us is not a major problem.
