  1. The best made piece of put together furniture I have ever purchased. Took longer to arraign the CD's and DVD's then it took to assemble. No missing or damaged parts. Shipping took less then 48 hours from PA to SC. This is a small unit which was what I needed, make sure the size fits your needs. The pictures on the net are deceiving. Other sites on the web have this same unit for over $150, I would have been dissappointed if I paid more then I did. The only negative problem is if you use middle back support brace you can't store any cd's or dvd's on that shelf, the doors won't close. Also if you are living in the dark ages like me, this is not a unit for VHS tapes, you will run out of room quickly. Other than that this is a good buy.

  2. It is very attractive but poorly designed. The support bar prevents you from using one of the shelves for CDs. The support reduces the depth of the shelf and the door will not shut if used for CDs. The middle shelf is completely useless as a result.

  3. I received this product quicker than I expected. I was just as discribed in the ad and looks excellent, just what I needed.

  4. I know this is a media cabinet, but that wasn't what I wanted it for.

I have a small bathroom in desperate need of additional storage, and the only thing that would fit with doors that closed was a media cabinet. This one was perfect, matching the bathroom vanity and provided a quick, cheap, but relatively nice upgrade without a major bathroom overhaul.

What I did do, though, to improve the cabinet might be of use to people who bought this for its intended purpose. I didn't want to see all the junk behind the doors, so I bought translucent paper (sort of like contact paper, but it goes on with water and a squeegee) to cover the glass. The doors now how a very classy frosted look that really does look like frosted glass.

I didn't like that the knobs were so low, which I guess is great for midgets, but if you're of average or above height, you may not want to keep stooping over to open the cabinet.

I had an old wooden dowel I put in the holes with wood glue; I used some dark shoe polish to color the ends which were flush with the cabinet. That solved the predrilled hole. I then used my drill to make holes at the top of the doors. Because this is going in a bathroom, I wanted slightly glitzier knobs, so I bought ones of the same size, but these were acrylic glass with stainless accents. Worked like a charm!

About the construction: I put this together in about an hour, but it still seemed a little too rickety for my taste. I went out to Home Depot and bought four L-brackets and tacked them on the back corners. That made the thing incredibly stable with little effort and expense.

This was one of the better cabinets I've seen, but still had my personal bugaboo, which is those idiotic cam things that are a PITA to use (if you ever had to put together furniture that came in a box, you'll know what I'm talking about.) You have to make a lot of mistakes before you figure out NOT to screw these things too hard; they are made of soft brass, and it takes no effort at all to strip them.

All in all I'd recommend this as a nice-looking and relatively substantial media cabinet; for my purposes, it performed GREAT as a bathroom cabinet to store and hide all the junk women accumulate!

    I'd recommend it (with L-brackets!)

  5. I thought this cabinet was a great deal, what with the free shipping and all. Well, when I opened the box to put it together, the top was dented. Looks as though it was thrown at some point. I guess its a good thing its the part that faces the wall.
You lose a whole shelf if you use the support beam. I wish I would have read that review throughly. Also you lose space on top because of the magnets that hold the doors together. Its pretty wobbly. I'm not sure if I'll even keep this cabinet. I have 2 small childen and the last thing I need is for it to fall on one of them. Yes, they include a drywall screw to screw the unit into the wall..but comeon.. make a sturdier piece of furniture!
If you don't have alot of cds/dvds to store and don't mind a shotty piece of furniture, then by all means ..ignore this review.

5 comments about Sony SU FL300L - Stand for LCD TV - piano black - screen size: 46" - 52".
  1. Sony SU-FL300L Floor TV Stand for 46" to 52" BRAVIA LCD HDTV

The stand is a perfect match for the Samsung LNT4665F 46" HDTV as both have a black piano finish.

The shipping box was designed by a genius to withstand abuse. All parts arrived in perfect condition.

Assembly took about 30 to 40 minutes because I was cautious. The directions were illustrated and every part was labeled.

CAUTION: The completed stand weighs over 100 pounds

To save myself a hernia and to protect the components, I unpacked the shipping box in my garage on an old blanket.

I had a second blanket in my living room and carried the base into the living room for assembly and attached the rear metal pillar. I brought in the remaining components from the garage individually for assembly.

I have to thank a reviewer for his good advice to assemble this sturdy stand in the room where I plan to use my TV and to unpack and assemble the stand using an old blanket to protect the components' finish.

I recommend this product without reservations.

  2. This is a very heavy stand. It is easy to assemble. It had some slight damage but not enough to go to the trouble of returning it. If it had a shelf or the ability to add a shelf I would give it a higher rating.

  3. I got this stand to go along with a 52" Sony XBR4. The stand did come with a set of brackets and screws for a center channel, though didn't fit with my Sony SS2000 surround sound center speaker. Also the glass shelf is not adjustable, so its pretty much stuck where its at on the bottom. The finish is a really nice black and overall its really not a bad stand, just has some small things that could have made it better.

  4. I received this TV stand with numerous damaged parts and missing screws out of the box. I tried to contact the seller, Amazon, and Sony customer support. All of them tried to point fingers at each other. Ultimately I spent $387 on a defective product. It has chipped wood, cracked frame, loose plastic holder on screws, missing screws. I will never buy stuff from this seller again.

  5. I have to say i was really surprised at how great this stand looks. Perfect match for my Samsung LNT 46" LCD. It almost looks like a work of art. Unfortunately, I also had some damage due to the way things were packed. The nubs that hold the glass crushed little bits off the bottom piece along the back. Not enough for me to go to the trouble of returning it and not noticeable because it is in the back. However, a piece of foam or cardboard to protect this from happening is warranted. Otherwise, very easy to assemble and a solid piece of furniture. Do wish there was an additional shelf or option and I did not realize the bottom glass piece extends a little forwards and backwards beyond the frame. Overall, very happy.

  1. We are very pleased with the quality and appearence of this item

  2. This thing works better than advertised. It's attractive...a bit bigger than I thought but still attactive...it won't win a beauty contest. Sturdy, solid and simple to put together.

It is wood and was heaver than I thought it would be but that is a good thing. For those into numbers you've got 15" of USABLE depth and 19 1/4 " of width and 7 1/2 inches between the shelfs...more than enough space for components. My CD caurosel is about 16" deep an fits firmly on the shelf with my DVD player on top of it.

The shelfs fit in a groove and are supported w/o any screws

    --Mike

  3. I am not impressed by this item. It did not fit together well, and does not seem sturdy at all. Its also rather unattractive. I would look elsewhere for a good audio rack.

  4. I've had this stand for almost 3.5 years. I also have it's matched TV stand. I don't know what this other guy is talking about, but it is built well and very sturdy. It has a nice finish and is easy to clean. They are very heavy when assembled.

  5. I wall mounted an LCD, gave away my Sony 27 inch Trinitron ... still a great TV, and found myself with a TV stand I didn't need anymore. Sold it, and through research found the Tech Craft.

I'm in a small Craftsman house, and the 'vertical' orientation was perfect for the corner, the remotes work better not having to go through glass, and access to the cabling is MUCH easier. Assembly instructions are pictures, hardware is great, things went together beatifully.

I didn't want glass again, pets & hair & slobber just made glass a pain. The black finish is 'matte black' and perfect for me. This is a great value, looks good, recommend it if it looks like a good fit for you. Got it via Amazon rather than 3rd party, all is well, $155 and happy!

You don't need to spend $300-$500 to get a perfectly suitable AV rack, if this one suits your taste... I'd be very open to tech-craft products in the future, they know what they are doing.

5 comments about Techcraft Veneto Series SWP60 TV Stand.
  1. We found the TV stand on Amazon, but wanted to see it in person at the store before purchasing. This item was available and on display at Circuit City and we ultimately purchased it there for ~$400.

I agree w/ R. Villa that the depth of the A/V cabinets is shallow for some of the largest equipment out there, especially once interconnects are made. As I've had to modify past entertainment centers as the other reviewer has noted, this was not unexpected to me.

The unit was packaged nicely and is very heavy. Assembly instructions were fairly easy to follow and once assembled the finish is very nice. Stand has a rich, contemporary and elegant look.

The unit fits our 61" Samsung DLP perfectly.

    Very pleased with the purchase.

  2. Great stand. Would have gotten 5 stars except I had to rearrange the backing for my pioneer elite reciever. Its easy enough to make more holes in the back though. Great looks!

  3. While the quality of the item seems slightly above the norm, customer service from this company is dreadful. My new equipment sat around in boxes waiting for a replacement for a damaged shelf that was delayed, then delayed again, by mix-ups on the company's part. Their refusal to budge an inch from their standard process, even though it meant further delay for a very unhappy consumer who had gotten tired of run-arounds and excuses, is a far cry from the real customer service I've experienced elsewhere. I will never buy another TechCraft item.

  4. I ordered this TV stand through buy.com for a total of $296.45 including shipping using live search which gives you money back after 60 days. I tried to have Amazon match this price, which they won't. Too bad, since I really like Amazon. This stand is definitely worth the money, as others have stated. I did also get a PLM50, which is a steel mount for TV's that connects to this stand (as well as some others). It is definitely worth your research to see if it will meet your needs. It lets you mount your lcd or plasma tv and adjust the height as well as swiveling left and right.

  5. The item is really nice, however a piece came damaged (replaced by company who makes it, not the company I purchased it from - Electronics Depot). It scratches very easily, and you have to put it together which is why I gave it 3 stars instead of 4 or 5. Overall quality is good, but for that price, I would've thought it was better quality.

  1. I wanted to run the cables in the wall, but decided that would be too much work. This worked out great - when painted, the texture matches the wall perfectly and blends right in. Holds all the chunky cables securely and slides behind the tv and console easily. Perfect fit. A little pricey, but worth it to save the time and effort.
