  1. The best made piece of put together furniture I have ever purchased. Took longer to arraign the CD's and DVD's then it took to assemble. No missing or damaged parts. Shipping took less then 48 hours from PA to SC. This is a small unit which was what I needed, make sure the size fits your needs. The pictures on the net are deceiving. Other sites on the web have this same unit for over $150, I would have been dissappointed if I paid more then I did. The only negative problem is if you use middle back support brace you can't store any cd's or dvd's on that shelf, the doors won't close. Also if you are living in the dark ages like me, this is not a unit for VHS tapes, you will run out of room quickly. Other than that this is a good buy.

  2. It is very attractive but poorly designed. The support bar prevents you from using one of the shelves for CDs. The support reduces the depth of the shelf and the door will not shut if used for CDs. The middle shelf is completely useless as a result.

  3. I received this product quicker than I expected. I was just as discribed in the ad and looks excellent, just what I needed.

  4. I know this is a media cabinet, but that wasn't what I wanted it for.

I have a small bathroom in desperate need of additional storage, and the only thing that would fit with doors that closed was a media cabinet. This one was perfect, matching the bathroom vanity and provided a quick, cheap, but relatively nice upgrade without a major bathroom overhaul.

What I did do, though, to improve the cabinet might be of use to people who bought this for its intended purpose. I didn't want to see all the junk behind the doors, so I bought translucent paper (sort of like contact paper, but it goes on with water and a squeegee) to cover the glass. The doors now how a very classy frosted look that really does look like frosted glass.

I didn't like that the knobs were so low, which I guess is great for midgets, but if you're of average or above height, you may not want to keep stooping over to open the cabinet.

I had an old wooden dowel I put in the holes with wood glue; I used some dark shoe polish to color the ends which were flush with the cabinet. That solved the predrilled hole. I then used my drill to make holes at the top of the doors. Because this is going in a bathroom, I wanted slightly glitzier knobs, so I bought ones of the same size, but these were acrylic glass with stainless accents. Worked like a charm!

About the construction: I put this together in about an hour, but it still seemed a little too rickety for my taste. I went out to Home Depot and bought four L-brackets and tacked them on the back corners. That made the thing incredibly stable with little effort and expense.

This was one of the better cabinets I've seen, but still had my personal bugaboo, which is those idiotic cam things that are a PITA to use (if you ever had to put together furniture that came in a box, you'll know what I'm talking about.) You have to make a lot of mistakes before you figure out NOT to screw these things too hard; they are made of soft brass, and it takes no effort at all to strip them.

All in all I'd recommend this as a nice-looking and relatively substantial media cabinet; for my purposes, it performed GREAT as a bathroom cabinet to store and hide all the junk women accumulate!

    I'd recommend it (with L-brackets!)

  5. I thought this cabinet was a great deal, what with the free shipping and all. Well, when I opened the box to put it together, the top was dented. Looks as though it was thrown at some point. I guess its a good thing its the part that faces the wall.
You lose a whole shelf if you use the support beam. I wish I would have read that review throughly. Also you lose space on top because of the magnets that hold the doors together. Its pretty wobbly. I'm not sure if I'll even keep this cabinet. I have 2 small childen and the last thing I need is for it to fall on one of them. Yes, they include a drywall screw to screw the unit into the wall..but comeon.. make a sturdier piece of furniture!
If you don't have alot of cds/dvds to store and don't mind a shotty piece of furniture, then by all means ..ignore this review.

  1. Definately buy this if your looking for a sleek stand that's stylish. I love the way my tv looks on it. I have a 37" Glossy black samsung and it looks amazing. It took about 40 minutes to put together and the directions were somewhat simple. The glass is tempered and thick. It looks like it should be a lot more money then the price offered!

  1. Looks WAY better in person. The post on mine is silver, which didnt bother me. It was very easy to put together as everything is clearly labeled and the TV was easy to mount. I'm SO happy with it. Shows finger prints like crazy though.

  1. I needed a small component shelf to go into a tight space. This shelf met my needs very well. The product description indicates that it is intedned to be an extra shelf for Vantage Point's multishelf system, but it works great for a single shelf. The shelf was very easy to assemble and mount on the wall. I would definately recommend this product and this manufacturer.

  2. WONDERFUL PRODUCT, EASY TO MOUNT AND LOOKSGOOD, IT ONLY NEEDS SOME KIND OF WIRE MANAGEMENT SUPPORT, OR JUST AN OPENING BEHIND THE GLASS TO PUT WIRES THROUGH.

  1. These stands were easy to put together and look very nice. They blend in with the TV and other AV components, so they would go nicely with any decor. They also had a pretty reasonable price. I would definitely recommend them.

  2. This product was totally disappointing. The directions were difficult to follow, there were only poorly draw diagrams to describe the construction. The product is very flimsy and unstable. I will not use it for the purpose of placing my Paradigm speakers, nor would I purchase this product again or any other product of this type. I have been completely unsatisfied with this product. Finally, during assembly of this product I somehow managed to chip the frosted glass shelves because the rods for the stand came in a somewhat bent manner from the package

    Thank You.

  3. I don't have all that much experience putting things together, so I was a little worried because of one reviewer's comments about the instructions being hard to understand. On the whole, I found that they were fairly simple to put together, and the diagrams were very helpful.

There's unfortunately no way to thread cables through any part of these stands, so if you're looking to keep your cabling invisible, these might not be the stands for you. I'm using them for my rear speakers, and they're pretty small (small enough that I would be able to fit one on the top shelf and another on the bottom), so I don't have any problems with instability, though I think it might be an issue for people with larger, heavier speakers on carpet.

  4. I bought the Logitech Z-5500 speakers, but I didn't want to screw them into the wall. The problem with these speakers is that they don't fit (screw) into the 'standard' speaker stands.
The solution: The Gallery Noir Wood/Glass Speaker Stand. I have them set up on either side of my couch. The design is simple, but elegant. The top shelves are sturdy and have more than enough strength to hold any small speaker set out there. The middle selves are supposed to be used for storing DVD's, CD's or Games. It works fine, so long as they are ALWAYS filled with cases. If 1 case is pulled out, the rest sort of fall onto each other, so I would recommend getting a 'real' media storage center. What I used the shelves for was items I wanted on display. A mini bust, a trinket or just put a coaster down and use it as handy, accessible and not in your way place to hold your drink. Great for those without a coffee table, like me.
The assembly was easy and took about 3 minutes. The packaging seems small but protects your item well.
I just bought another set of speakers for the bedroom and will be buying another pair of these speaker stands to hold them. Definitely recommended for those who want a nice, simple and sturdy item. Something that wont be easily knocked down by mischievous cats.

  5. I bought these stands for my logitech z-5500, just like another reviewer did. They look nice and the black and metal colors blend in well with the rest of my setup. The shelving on them works well for CD and DVD cases with an inch or two to spare above them. There are 3 shelves that each can fit 8 DVD cases. You have to keep the shelves relatively full though, because there are not slots for them, the cases just stand supported by one another.
These wouldn't work too well with bigger speakers, but they are perfect for smaller ones. They come with little adhesive strips so you can stick your speakers to them if you want, but I still wouldn't trust it with bigger speakers.

The instructions for assembling the stands are very bad, but it isn't too hard to figure it out if you look at the picture on the box. The instructions don't have any words, just pictures. They indicate you should flip the whole thing over at one point. This is so the glass doesn't slide around, but if you flipped it over it would be impossible to screw the bottom on. You just have to think about what will happen and be careful with the glass when putting them together. Also, there is no indicator as to where you are supposed to place the middle shelf. It would be nice if there was a little marking or something, the instructions don't help at all with it. It is easy to adjust once you have it built though, and I measured it out so that it was centered between the top and bottom shelves.

Putting them together was a bit annoying, but I'm very satisfied with the end result.

  1. The stands are great. They were very easy to assemble and look good in my den.

  2. I purchase 2 pairs of these for the new "theater" room I set up. The speakers mount perfectly to them. The bases are heavy enough that they don't fell like they will tip over. I only wish they were height adjustable. The fronts are a perfect height, but the rear speakers could be a little higher.

  3. Just perfect. We were not sure what to expect and got the unexpected. They were brand new and just what we wanted.

    Very happy

  4. These Bose floor stands are fantastic. Easy to assemble and hides the wires that run to the Bose system. They are a good position for the sound, effects, etc. to travel across my living room.

  5. They look ok is about the only good thing I can say. Very poor, weak design. For Bose owners these are a rip-off. Bose was so intent that these stands only work with there one little speaker they broke every good design practice by using very small mounting screws with practically no edge distance. So if your speaker ever turns over with Bose little boxes on it you can expect a broker unrepairable stand. Being a design engineer I was able to foil there efforts by carefully oversizing the holes to take a normal screw and adding a second screw into my speaker case at the bottom. It looks great with my Gigaworks THX speakers and is much stronger than what Bose intended. Bose only provided the one undersized screw and a tiny plastic nub at the bottom which is supposed to barely hole the speaker straight. My speakers are now mounted much stronger than Bose's weak engineering and look a sound a lot better. I will be adding pictures of these.

IMPORTANT NOTE: these speaker stands are advertised as 'universal' when in fact they are not. They are designed to only work with one Bose speaker, the small cube. I would have rated as one star but since I was able to mount my speaker even better than they intended, I will give them 2 stars for their failed effort a bad engineering.

  1. We found the TV stand on Amazon, but wanted to see it in person at the store before purchasing. This item was available and on display at Circuit City and we ultimately purchased it there for ~$400.

I agree w/ R. Villa that the depth of the A/V cabinets is shallow for some of the largest equipment out there, especially once interconnects are made. As I've had to modify past entertainment centers as the other reviewer has noted, this was not unexpected to me.

The unit was packaged nicely and is very heavy. Assembly instructions were fairly easy to follow and once assembled the finish is very nice. Stand has a rich, contemporary and elegant look.

The unit fits our 61" Samsung DLP perfectly.

    Very pleased with the purchase.

  2. Great stand. Would have gotten 5 stars except I had to rearrange the backing for my pioneer elite reciever. Its easy enough to make more holes in the back though. Great looks!

  3. While the quality of the item seems slightly above the norm, customer service from this company is dreadful. My new equipment sat around in boxes waiting for a replacement for a damaged shelf that was delayed, then delayed again, by mix-ups on the company's part. Their refusal to budge an inch from their standard process, even though it meant further delay for a very unhappy consumer who had gotten tired of run-arounds and excuses, is a far cry from the real customer service I've experienced elsewhere. I will never buy another TechCraft item.

  4. I ordered this TV stand through buy.com for a total of $296.45 including shipping using live search which gives you money back after 60 days. I tried to have Amazon match this price, which they won't. Too bad, since I really like Amazon. This stand is definitely worth the money, as others have stated. I did also get a PLM50, which is a steel mount for TV's that connects to this stand (as well as some others). It is definitely worth your research to see if it will meet your needs. It lets you mount your lcd or plasma tv and adjust the height as well as swiveling left and right.

  5. The item is really nice, however a piece came damaged (replaced by company who makes it, not the company I purchased it from - Electronics Depot). It scratches very easily, and you have to put it together which is why I gave it 3 stars instead of 4 or 5. Overall quality is good, but for that price, I would've thought it was better quality.

  1. I bought this TV stand two months ago and it is great! It looks like I spent twice as much on it. It took about an hour to put it together, and the finished product is excellent. It is very sturdy for our tv (a 42' flat screen Philips weighing about 90 lbs) and it's the perfect length, doesn't sag in the middle at all. The black finish looks great as well, hasn't scratched. It has glass doors and plenty of room for our DVR, DVD player, XBOX and many DVD's. I would HIGHLY recommend this product.

  2. This is one of the best tv stands i've purchased. It is a quality purchase that even holds my 182 lb. tv. Would purchase this one again!

  3. After reading a number of reviews on Amazon and other sites, I felt that this piece of furniture was the best value available. By the way, I ordered this piece and paid for 1-day shipping, which was only $10 and it arrived in 1-day, all 113 lbs!
A couple of things you should know before purchasing this item. First, it is 100% particle board, no real wood. Not necessarily a problem, but just so you know what you are getting. Second, check all pieces before assembling. I got about half-way through the 3 1/2 hour job (not sure how the one reviewer did it in 1 hour!) and realized that one of the pieces had cracked paint. Given the location of the piece and the lack of desire to return, I continued anyway. Some of the pieces don't line up as well as they should and you may need to force a few together. (Doors are tricky to line up perfectly)
However, given the price I paid and the strength and appearance of the piece, I still feel it was a good purchase. I would recommend this piece, just not highly recommend.
