  1. I purchased this Zenith 32" LCD as a replacement in my bedroom. The TV is great. Picks up analog, digital, and high def channels over the cable system and the picture quality is amazing. As always with Zenith, the quality goes in before the name goes on.

  1. Although when the box arrived it looked like the enclosed TV would be in pieces, it was unharmed. Setup was a snap. Others have commented that the menus are very slow, but I didn't find this to the the case. I connected Comcast expanded basic cable and was able to auto-detect all the analog and unencrypted digital channels. Removal of the foreign-language, home shopping, and unused digital channels from the line up went well, except that there are so many channels it took some time.

I have also connected a GameCube using the component video cable, a Wii again using the component video cable, an Oppo DVD player using HDMI, and an Apple notebook via DVI. All have worked flawlessly. The only negative is that there is NO 1080p content out there right now to judge the true brilliance of this TV. 720p looks fabulous.

  2. This is a great TV. The picture clarity while watching hockey and football is remarkable. There is a slight fan noise, associated with this type of TV, that I didn't have with my old CRT TV. This TV has plenty of connections including HDMI and DVI. I had to use the DVI(computer) connection between my cable box and the TV because Comcast doesn't have an HDMI output unless you rent the cable box that has a built in recorder. If you already have a DVD recorder you may not want to pay $5 a month more to rent one from Comcast. Comcast will give you a DVI to HDMI converter cable that will not work with this TV. The customer service at Sharp in clearing up this connectivity problem was great. One phone call. This was after two trips to the Comcast office and four phone calls to Comcast customer service.
I am glad I bought this TV.

  3. The TV was delivered just when promised. It was a great price and I checked extensively before ordering. I am very pleased with the process.

  4. I am very satisfied with the Sharp Aquos I purchased from LCD Mart through Amazon. I received the product on time and in great condition. I received a follow up call to see if everything was in order.

  5. Have had this TV for over a year now and I still ooh and aah while watching football, or anything for that matter. We have a very open living room with tons of sunlight coming in and you can still see the picture perfectly. Recently tried hooking up my PC to the back which was really neat - it functions just like a world-class computer monitor - wish I could afford one for the office. Fantastic product.

  1. I just got it up and working, what a great picture, I have been looking at Plasma's for a while and this one looks better than many I have looked at, at close to twice the price. I might buy another one for my bed room. A plus

  2. This TV(and all other Polaroid TV's that I have) perfroms great. I used to buy Toshiba only and pay twice as much. I have had no problems or complaints about this TV after using it for a few months.

  3. This television worked great for about 10 months. Then the pixels wore out and it was garbage. Although it came with a written warranty by Polaroid for a 1 year term, Polaroid claimed it was not their problem and referred us to a subsidiary. The subsidiary when contacted referred us back to Polaroid. After many phone calls and mounting frustration levels, Polaroid accepted responsibility, however we had to ship the tv back at our cost, etc. Polaroid was to replace the tv on the basis of "as good, or better." TV never came. Contacted Polaroid and they told us that they had sent it by Fed Express and told us to deal with Fed Ex. Fed Ex never found the TV. Polaroid said they would send another tv. TV came today with no power cord, no remote control, broken tv mount, scratched and dented. Bottom line, save time, money and frustration and go with another tv manufacturer. Update 1/22/08 Polaroid sent another replacement television; arrived today with a cracked screen!!! How do they stay in business!! OK, now it is February, and after sending us 4 broken TV's, Polaroid says they will refund our money. Unfortunately, our problems are not over. Refund never came. We call Polaroid customer service, they say, there was a processing error you should receive your check in 10-15 bus. days. Refund does not come. Call again and same scenario, i.e. processing error, another 10-15 business days......

  4. We bought this tv, it lasted 11 months. Remote stopped working. Little does one know that you need the EXACT model remote or the tv won't work not even getting up and working the controls on the tv itself. They don't know if they are even "making the remotes" anymore, they have a problem getting parts. We pushed this plasma tv out of the house, it has been 3 months now, we are told a different story each time we call as to why there are no remotes available. Finally, one tech told us that they try and order the remotes from a remote control distributor, the same one we tried, to get their OWN remotes! Well the remotes the distributor has won't work, yes, they are Polaroid remotes but NOT the exact one needed for this plasma tv.

Avoid Polaroid, it is a conglomerate that bought the polaroid name to distribute nameless chinese made tvs. It is a nightmare and a heart attack of frustation not to mention loss of money.

  5. We bought this TV a little over 2 years ago and guess what it just broke. We unfortunately did not buy the extended warranty so we are out of luck. My husband called Polaroid and they told him that they would fix it for 650 dollars plus us paying shipping and handling each way. That's a joke considering you can buy a brand new one for a little more than that these days. The picture went black in one area and the rest is a mix of red and blue. I am really disappointed and would give this zero stars if I could, when you spend 2000 on a tv you would expect it to last quite a bit longer than 2 years. this is a shame because it had a nice picture until this happened. if you do a google search on the internet you will see that many, many people have had problems with this tv and you should not waste your money.

  1. I actually made the decision to purchase this not only because of the size, HD quality and price, but mostly due to the great reviews on this thing. Read them, they really are informative on this particular item.

I have to say, the delivery service alone was fantastic. They called us before, during and after the delivery. We were impressed with that aspect even before we tore open the box and got to experience the tv itself.

Wow. This is coming from a person who can care less about televisions. I now know why people get hooked on these things. Even in the daylight, the picture is clear as a bell.
Sound is just right too. There is a speaker all along the entire bottom of the TV, so the surround sound is realistic. No enhancements needed (thankfully for the wallet).
Our first show we watched in HD was so BIG it was dizzying. Kind of like a mini-Imax theater in your home. We hooked our Xbox 360 to it and the HD games are mesmerizing.

I can't say much to add to the technical side of the reviews above and below me.
This TV was a huge value.
It does get very warm if left on all night (not something I'd recommend).

Get HD cable if you have it. Otherwise don't bother, since you'd be wasting the full potential of this thing. Big difference between HD and normal cable.

Got this for my husband who was amazed that I could get such the "perfect TV". How'd I do it? READ THE REVIEWS. TAKE NOTES. Get the right size for your home. This 46" is measured 46" from one upper corner to the opposite lower corner. Get out a tape measure and do the same to get a feel for how big you want to go. It is HUGE if you are not used to anything over 36" in old-school tv's.
Get the highest HD # out there (that 1080 p thing) and you are good to go if you are shopping around.
Also, we compared the projector versus plasma versus flat panel and came up with flat panel to be the best option.
Plasma is out if you have kids. One flying object and the screen could lose pixels (or whatever you call them). Projectors are out. Do you know how technical and huge those things still are? Wait a little longer until they get smaller and not so IF-Then -Else-ish as far as what type you need.
Flat panels - best decision we made this year so far in gadgets.
Now go read the more technical reviews and make up your own mind.

  2. We love this TV!

It's connected to our DVR by HDMI and to a LG Home Theater in a Box with an optical digital cable. Great HD picture, great sound.

  3. This TV is everything I hoped it would be. I spent a month reading every forum and review I could find before I finally picked the JVC LT-46FN97. If you read AVSForum, you will see that many highly touted brands have chronic problems (clouds, flashlights, banding, eggs, HDMI handshake problems....). In reading a 47 page thread about the JVC, none of these problems were ever mentioned. I had finally found a 46" LCD that worked.
Not only does this unit have a beautiful picture, but the sound is the best I've ever heard from a TV. My wife thought I had the home theater speakers turned on, the first time she heard it. Also, looks great in the room. The matte black finish and the clean front panel really adds to the looks of the room.
    Buy this TV!

  4. Before purchasing this TV, I had never seen it in person. I saw the 40" JVC next to a Sony and the difference was noticeable. The clarity and crispness of the picture was incredible. I read all the reviews and decided to roll the dice on the 46".

I could not be happier. It is a great TV with a great picture. The TV is partnered up with a Yamaha YSP 1100 sound projector. This combination has taken our home theater experience to another level. I would suggest getting a professional to install and make sure to get an HD box. You will not be disappointed.

    I highly recommend this TV.

  5. I purchased this TV at a military exchange in September 07 for $1700 after a manager's rebate, a first time credit card 10% off and a manufacturer's rebate (the perfect storm of sales). After getting it home and using it for several weeks, I would have paid twice that.

It has a beautiful picture. VERY dark blacks. Colors are beautiful and sharp but in 1080p, it's soft enough that it doesn't hurt your eyes during extended watching.

I would 100% recommend this TV to anyone and everyone. I have had zero problems with it, even the on screen menu that isn't very intuitive is a breeze after several operations.

  1. Great TV with clear picture. Top rated.

One thing that's slightly deceiving: it's 1080p display, but it does not support 1080p input signals. For example, you can't turn on the new xbox x360 1080p feature.

Customer support confirmed this by writing to me:
This unit accepts 480i, 480p, 720p and 1080i signals and displays at 1080p. It cannot accept a 1080p signal.

  2. With some apprehension about buying a $2,000 television over the internet, we were very pleased with the transaction. The vendor kept us informed about delivery and then followed through exactly. The TV arrived on a pallet and well packaged for safety. We did have to get help setting up the TV with our home theater system because the manual was a bit vague and we tried all the combinations we could think of. We are very happy with the television's picture and features. Even the speakers built in it are good.

  3. I've had the LT 40FN97 for four months now and am very pleasd with it's performance. The SD pictures are overall great, and the HD is outstanding, razor sharp. While shopping for this at a local video store and comparing it's picture to the much more expensive other brands I couldn't understand why the other tv's were getting so much attention from the other shoppers. The JVC picture was as good as if not better than all of them. The picture settings (color, brightness, etc.) took some tweaking before I was satisfied, but that's true for any TV.

I'm not a gamer so I can't comment on this set's performance in that area or as a computer monitor. I bought the JVC to watch TV and DVD's, so for those purposes the 40FN97 more than met my expectations. The fact that it doesn't "accept" 1080p input seems irrelevent in that almost all HD programming is sent as 1080i. What the JVC does is convert that to a 1080p picture, and it's spectacular. For the price you can't go wrong (paid 1799.00, have seen it since for 1499.00). Oh, and by the way, don't waste your money on expensive HDMI cables. Experts and techs will tell you that there's no difference between a $200 cable and a $10 cable. Got mine online for $7.00 and don't see how I could possibly get a better picture on HD with a different cable.

Anyway, I highly recommend the JVC LT 40FN97 for TV and DVD viewing.

  4. The JVC LT40FN97 40-Inch 1080p Flat Panel LCD TV comes with a 12 month warranty, unfortunately for me it isn't enough.

I'm in a pickle because there is a thin horizontal line right of center on the screen that appears on every channel.

We have really enjoyed this TV up until last night when we noticed the line. I called the service center and they explained they need $145 to come and assess the problem (they added that the assessment is deducted from the repair cost should you decide to have the unit repaired: How nice).

My last TV, a 14 year old Panasonic CRT is still working fine, never a problem. I guess I just expected this unit, with a number one Consumer Reports rating in its size category, would last a bit longer without a hitch.
