- Good TV for the price. Only objection is the blue light on front. Insead of being lit when TV is on it is lit when off. Not so good for sleeping. Very bright.
- I got my 32 inch olevia around halloween 2006 and it has worked perfectly since then, however, I went to turn it on one day and it didnt turn on. I found that it was just turning off the light and not turning on the TV. I fixed the problem myself by just unplugging the TV and plugging it back in, then it worked just as new. Havent had trouble since then(3 months ago) and XBOX 360 High Def is AWESOME!!!!!!! P.S I am actually Richard Rose under a friend's account.
- I bought this TV one year ago, and it has been so great. The HD picture is amazing for the price. I have never had one problem with it. Turned it on out of the box and enjoyed every minute of HD after that. You cant find a better looking HD picture ANYWHERE for that price.
- We purchased this tv last year and it works great. It was a little complicated to set up but that's not the tv's fault. Flat screen tv's aren't like the hold plug in and turn on. Once we figured out what to plug in where and how to set it up, we have had no problems. Works beautifully.
- A very pretty TV. It has great quality, is very accurate, and is one of the highest quality 720 HD tvs I've seen. Very worthwhile purchase.

- I was thinking of purchasing this TV, but realized that there aren't any DVI or D-Sub inputs.
- I have been looking for about 1 year at plasma and lcd tv's. In the last 3 months I decided on the lcd format, mainly due to heat and energy data. It was a close tie between Sharp and Sony but a few things gave the sharp the edge. My wife is a musician and scientist, so I used her to determine color tone differences and she found the blacks a little better on the Sharp. We both liked the black finish on the Sharp over the dull silver Sony. The Sharp has a consumer replaceable lamp - not a big deal with 70-80,000 hour lamps but nice to know the whole unit isn't garbage because of a light. LCD and Plasma use built in lamps to provide the brightness on the screens, only Sharp makes them replaceable to my knowledge. It has every input/output you would need - Composite, HDMI, S-Video, Coax.
- This TV is great! I really looked around and read a lot of reviews on LCD HDTV's and this one was very highly rated. While I am not a techno wizard, I do love to watch TV. It was easy to set up and has a great look in my den. I highly recommend this product.
- I shopped hard last November to find the best value in a large LCD TV. The 45' Sharp LCD 730P TV won hands down. Three months later I still have not found a better value.
Amazon shipped it quickly and safely. No complaints... a great TV
- Overall very Good, very sharp picture even when connected to analog equipment.
However for the price it's missing a DVI Input and D Sub connectors.

- We just got it last week and it came in on time and in good condition. Since it came all the way across the states I was alittle worried. The TV picture is good and the DVD works. It was easy to hook up. I have not yet got the Dish Network remote to run the TV. Hope I can figure it out. I just have to turn it on with one remote and change the channels with the other. The price was real good from Amazon.
I would recomend it.
- This TV is exactly what we were looking for. The built-in DVD player is a big plus. We wanted to be able to play our in-house DVD movies on this unit, and I was concerned how, and if, they would play. After reading good reviews elsewhere, I ordered it, and have been very satisfied. I would highly recommend this product to anyone.
- I got three of these to run slide shows continuously for display and they've been great. I like the side loading DVD player because it keeps it under 4" thick. The only disadvantage I see is that you have to have the remote to use DVD menus. The button controls on the unit are limited and basically only for the TV functions. Overall it's a great value for the size and functionality for the price!
- This TV is very good for the price. Specs include: 8ms repsonse time, 1000:1 contrast ratio, ATSC/NTSC tuner, built in DVD player, HDMI in, and others listed in the description.
Features aside, this TV delivers a solid picture. I put it in my roughly 100 sqft. apartment bedroom and it is much larger than the 13" tube TV it replaced. With only a 2-d comb filter, picture sometimes looks a little washed out, but not too too badly. Plus, the 2-d comb filter is only used on the composite-in and NTSC cable in, nothing else. Motion blurring is non-existent at best, and only a mild nuisance at worst. I was watching a Futurama DVD and when the ship flies by at the start of the intro, it gets a little blurry but not so bad that it is a large distraction.
Preset picture modes are good, and the menu gives you quite a bit of wiggle room for fine tuning the picture, given the price of the TV. The menu also has an audio adjustment feature but this does hardly anything to effect the sound. The speakers are only passable. I recommend using the audio out function as it will give you so much more.
progressive scan DVD player itself is a nice compact slot-loading unit with good controls and a decent picture. The remote is easy to use and has a decent range which is good because this TV is NOT compatible with universal remotes (as far as I know anyway).
In short, this is a good solid TV with nice features for a low price. If you are good at shopping around you may be able to get one of these for the same price as a new xbox 360 premium which, might I add, comes in very clearly and crisply through the HDMI in. It's not going to be a "wonderful change the world amazingly superb ridiculous" TV but it is good enough to warrant the price for frugalists.
===========update=============
I've had this tv for a few months now and I can honestly say that I am even happier with it now than I was before.
First off, the speakers are much nicer than previously indicated. This was because of my mistake. The basic treble and bass EQ of the TV was way off and the surround sound simulator makes things even more complicated. However, after some fine tuning I got some really good lows out of the speakers and some good punch. It can't replace home theatre and I still recommend audio out if you have better speakers (I have a Philips 2.1 set-up) but otherwise they work a lot better than before.
Control over individual red, green, and blue color temperatures are really cool. This is something that isn't offered on a lot of sets but it is a blast to fiddle around with.
Black levels are deeper than expected, seems much better than the indicated 1000:1 contrast ratio but only on YPbPr, HDMI, and DVD. For any signal coming in at 480i it is only so-so.
If I have one complaint about this TV now it is that it gets very very hot. This is one set which should be well ventilated. My parents own a Panasonic 42" plasma, and this tv can get hotter than the plasma after only being on about 30 minutes.
Still, it is extremely reliable and gets a 5 for 5 for exceeding standards both in size and price.
- This is the second AKAI LCT2721AD television I purchased, because the DVD player went out on the first one. Had this one less than six months, and the DVD player went out again. Good television, bad DVD player! Spend a little more for a better one. I should have (twice!).

- I have to say I am dissapointed with this television. The image is so pixelated when watching normal television, and I just couldn't stand it. It's worse than my regular TV, which is not widescreen, twice as big, and $300. Whenever a movie pans the shot across a scene there is some considerable distortion that makes me crave for my old TV (This is when I'm connected in HD with the right cables and movie). I've seen televisions with HD and this television is below the high end HD models. Also the shadows do not have any detail in them. The picture looks so wrong, I tried adjusting the color and brightness but it did not help. Don't buy this television, you will be disapointed!
- At first I was disappointed in the performance of the set when used in HDTV mode with progressive scan input from our DVD. I bought a high quality component cable and it made an incredible difference. The picture is very good. You can customize the display but we defaulted to the "standard" setting and it looks great. Plasma would be better but for the price we are very happy.
- This TV has issues that are just silly. No Closed Caption with component input, weird color problems, horrible remote compatibility and hardly any menu options are the norm.

- The review in Consumer Reports influenced our decision to buy an Olevia and we are very pleased with the monitor. We aren't TV watchers, but we do watch DVD's and the picture quality from this monitor is very good. It's clear and detailed. Also, the monitor is in a very bright room and the picture is not adversely affected by the brightness. And, the good price also made the buy very appealing!
- This LCD is packed with great features, fantastic picture quality and connects right to your cable box so you don't need a tuner anyway! It has an easy wheel menu for your settings, you can adjust the picture to the brightness of the room and it's a snap to connect your DVD player and HD and I can even hook my laptop to it for a huge monitor. I can't say enough good things about this product. Olevia is soon to be a force to be reckoned with in the electronics world if they keep coming up with products of this quality and value!
- for no reason we can identify the video aspect of this display just died and flickers back and forth between red/blue/green/white/black. It was not dropped, there was no power surge, and it was very carefully handled. Just took it off the base to wall mount it and now dead. Would not buy another one.

- This is an excellent TV with great picture quality. The only issue is its warmth. Since I have this set placed in bedroom, the heat is unbearable especially in the summer. Anyone experience the same problem?
- I didnt buy it from amazon(sorry).I got mine at [...] and i really got a good deal on it.They had a coupon for [...] dollars off so ii got it for [...] which to me is a bargin for a set of this caliber.I dont have a single complaint. The picture is just wonderful even with a standard picture. The hd looks amazing.I didnt see a problem with sound at all.Its in our bedroom so who is going to be turning it up loud anyways.Heat was not an issue and my directv works fine thru the hdmi input.I have an oppo upconvert dvd player and regular dvds look like a whole new dvd.The picture with that dvd player was just beautiful.I hated to toss my dvd collection and buy hd dvds so i bought the oppo upconvert and its wonderful. It really makes a big difference.Buy it at [...] if you can and try to use the coupon if its still available.I couldnt be more happy with the set.So far so good, knock on wood""
- Its really hard to express the difference watching on a high quality hdtv makes. This is a beautiful brilliant TV with tons of inputs and great quality. I've owned for 2 months with no problems. Some complain about the size of the remote and the speakers, but both seem plenty adequate to me. I would recommend this tv to anyone.
- OK first off, i did a lot of shopping when i was looking into getting myself an LCD for the first time.
I got this unit at another site for around 700 bucks shipped.
Mostly play xbox 360 on it and all i can say is "WOW", every game on it is light years ahead of my old CRT
The HD channels are perfect too and the only con i can think of is that Standard Television isnt so clear, but that is a small price to pay when thinking of the big picture
- In my opinion, the Sharp LC-32D43U and LC-32D42U provide the best overall value for the money, when compared to comparably priced 720p native resolution LCD TVs.
I have owned the Sharp LC-32D42U for 4 months now and I couldn't be happier. The Sharp LC-32D42U and LC-32D43U 720p TVs are identical, with these exceptions: The 42U has a low-gloss frame with a silver base while the 43U has a high-gloss screen frame with a black base. (The 42U is a lower cost warehouse version and the 43U is a higher cost department store version.)
One downside to these Sharp TVs is that they reportedly do not do well deinterlacing or recognizing 3:2 pulldown when fed 1080i signals. However, when fed their native 720p signals, these TVs perform beautifully. Some reviews also mention subpar standard-definition 480i video processing (I rarely watch analog TV or VHS); fewer picture adjustments than many LCDs (this has not presented a problem for me); inability to change aspect ratios with HDMI sources (this won't bother purists who appreciate a movie director's intended aspect ratio). When fed a 720p signal from a cable or satellite box, HD reception looks great. (Sharp also recommends that the 720p output setting be used with Blu-Ray and HD players.) I have not experimented with the computer input, but most people report being satisfied with it.
In spite of its faults, the main attraction of these two Sharp LCDs is that they produce outstanding picture quality with 720p input: Deep blacks, vivid contrast, accurate colors and a very fast 6ms refresh rate which makes a big difference during fast motion scenes. When viewed next to comparably priced Sony, Samsung and Toshiba LCDs with 8ms refresh rates during fast panning and other fast motion scenes, the clarity of the Sharp TVs is vastly superior. This fast refresh rate is also the reason that many gamers prefer the Sharp TVs.
Unlike several other LCD brands, all of the Sharp digital processing (automatic brightness, enhanced picture contrast, black level expansion and digital noise reduction) can be disabled. The LC-32D42U can be found in the $700 range, making it a much better buy than its higher priced fraternal twin, the LC-32D43U. Also, the industry trend toward low-gloss LCD screen frames (such as the one found on the LC-32D42U) makes good sense, because black matte screen frames do not reflect room light or show dust and fingerprints.
Admittedly, the Sharp TVs do not have the greatest sound. The Sharp TVs can be configured to variable stereo audio output (simultaneously muting the TV's internal speakers) and the volume level of external self powered speakers (I am using an Altec Lansing 3-piece computer speaker system) can be controlled with the Sharp remote. Wireless headphones can also be used, with full volume control from the remote and the TV also has an optical output which can be used to direct digital sound to a surround sound receiver.
