  1. This TV has an unbelievable picture and is a steal at this price under $5000. This is a 2007 model and the 2008 version goes for $8000 as did this model last year

  2. We've just received the unit (safely intact) with no dead or stuck pixels. The TV immediately discovered my satellite and my PS3 (after using the first HDMI input). There is an "auto" HDMI port (Input 7) that didn't like the PS3, but I haven't read the manual to see what the auto label means. We tried both Hellboy and PotC: Dead Man's Chest and they look absolutely stunning.

The TV is immense! I'd suggest that you sit no closer than 8 feet or you will notice the pixels. The remote is easy to use and back-lit. The only negative that isn't really mentioned anywhere is that the TV uses HDMI 1.2a instead of the current 1.3x. However, nothing is available that takes advantage of the new HDMI standard and it will probably be many years before it will be widely used.

I've also read that it's not quite as "fast" even with its 120Hz/4 ms rating. Not being a serious audio/video person, I haven't noticed any difference between my old 42" Plasma and this LCD in terms of display speed, so I haven't seen any indication of this. I've also played a few PS3 games and didn't notice any refresh issues. By the way, if you think movies look incredible on this LCD, you really need to see a computer/console game. Amazing!

Overall, this is really an excellent deal and should not be missed. I was initially worried about purchasing such a large item over the Internet, but Amazon has always delivered without problems. If you were thinking about a large DLP to get that "movie experience", I'd really consider this LCD instead as it is brighter, clearer, easy to move, and takes up less room. So, buy it already!

  3. I've owned this tv for over a month now and love it. Picture is excellent. I have it paired to an Onkyo tx-sr875 receiver which upconverts all signals to 1080p. Without it 480 programs were a little grainy due to size of tv but now taken care of.

  4. Two days into receiving, and playing, with this TV, this is my opinion.

There are few LCD 65-inch HDTVs around, so there is not much competition against this model. So, after seeing the competition and this TV on Best Buy, I believe this one has the best picture, for a LCD 65 inch with 120 Hz refresh rate.

Now, the picture quality is DEFINITELY not better than the Samsungs LCDs with 120Hz. The problem is that Samsung has not produced a 65-inch TV, yet.

Therefore, if you need/want a 65 inches TV right now, this is a good choice. It should not cost more than four thousand bucks, though. If you can wait, I would recommend waiting for the day Samsung builts 65-inch LCDs. They should be spectacular!!!

    Enjoy

  1. I have both this TV as well as a Samsung LN-T2642H. It's very interesting to compare the two TV's performances. If you want the more balanced natural look, go with Sharp. If you're more interested in a vivid, colorful image go with Samsung. I also did an extended look at the Toshiba 26HL67.

There is a key difference between the panels Sharp uses compared to others. Sharp's TVs are made with panels called S-IPS while Samsung, Sony and Toshiba currently use a panel called S-PVA. This has everything to do with why Samsung, Sony and Toshiba have very strong color but one thing I noticed about Samsung is that when you look at it for a slightly low angle, the color gets darker and starts to invert. If you look it from above, the color gets lighter and starts to invert. With the Sharp, no matter what angle I look at it, the color doesn't change AT ALL! This is very impressive and cool!

I also notice that when I played around with the TV settings, it doesn't need much to look good, it almost always does. When you turn on the Active Contrast mode on the Sharp (it's equivalent to DNIe), it doesn't totally knock out the details in darker areas. At first, I had to keep checking to see if it was on or not because I was so used to the way the Samsung crushes black details even on the Low setting. Once again, I was more impress with the way this TV addresses contrast in fact I think the Sharp does a better job with contrast because of its black color.

The Sharp's black color is closer to black than the Samsung. The black color on the Samsung is more of a dark blue even on Warm temperature (it's especially noticably at slight vertical angles) but with the Sharp the black was much closer to real black.

The speakers on the Sharp doesn't distort at volume levels higher than 30. With the Samsung, when u turn the volume up pass 30, the bass tends to distort the fidelity of all the sound resulting in a buzz. This is probably due to the build of the unit and the lower wattage for the speakers. Sharp doesn't sound perfect either but it's definitely warmer and clearer at high volumes thanks to having 10 watts per speaker instead of 5. I would recommend everyone to get a 2.1 speaker for any LCD TV though. Take advantage of those sound outputs on the back of your TV! :) It definitely takes your experience to a higher level!

One minus I have with the Sharp was that it didn't have a headphone jack.

Overall, I think this is an excellent 32" TV. Sharp is definitely worth a look and probably my new LCD manufacturer of choice. It doesn't need as much tweaking when you switch between uses. I tested both TVs with PC (via DVI>HDMI), Xbox 360, HDTV, SDTV, HD-DVDs and upconverted DVDs. With the Samsung, I find myself always tweaking the settings between uses like changing the Energy Saving level, turning up the Digital NR for SDTV, turning it off for everything else, toning down the DNIe.

Thanks to Sharp's OPC, the backlight adjust very intelligently based on what's on the screen. I just leave the Active Contrast on because I know I'm not missing out darker details, the picture is very sharp and the panel is slightly faster thanks to the 6ms speed, which equals less motion blur with things like text and more solid image overall.

This Sharp is the real deal and reminds me much more of a CRT than the Samsung because the Samsung requires too much twinkering to get things comfortable. I think if the Samsung's black was more like true black and the vertical angle didnt distort so much I wouldn't tweak it as often.

So in summary, if you want the most vibrant colors and don't mind tweaking between uses by all means get a Samsung. (I still like the Samsung and would give it a 4 out of 5)

If you want a more, natural looking picture, that doesn't offer or require as much tweaking because it just plain looks good, go with a Sharp.

I think Toshiba and Sony TVs tend to do a better job with black crush and black color than Samsung but since the panels are the same technology (S-PVA), they still have the vibrant color and probably some vertical viewing weirdness.

  2. I found it hard to find any reviews on this particular model online but I decided to take a chance, since its predecessor, the lc32d43u was pretty well rated. i am glad I did. I find the picture quality very good even in standard definition (with a digital feed) and there are plenty of options for you to get the quality the way you like it. My only small problem is that at some angles the picture can be bit washed out, but this is only at severe side angles. Overall good value for money.

  1. Let me preface this by saying this is my first BIG $$ purchase from an online retailer. Also, this is my first plasma purchase. Like most people, I spent many hours at Best Buy, searching online forums ([...] is a GREAT resource for anything TV related), and reading reviews about products. It was a little hard to make a solid decision without reading any reviews of this TV or seeing it in person (I saw the 50pz800u at Best Buy but not the 42). Anyways, I finally decided on this TV, mainly because of the THX certification and 4 speaker setup. Most people raved about the out of the box setting that the THX provided so I definitely wanted that. This TV is for my room so I am not hooking up any entertainment system, thats why I wanted 4 speakers.

I purchased the TV from [...]. I found them thru Amazon and ordered directly thru them. They offer free shipping. I ordered the TV on May 22 and the price was $[...]. Between May 22nd and June 3rd (when the TV arrived) the price had dipped as low as $[...]. I called up 6ave and they price matched it all the way down to the lowest price. Each encounter I had with 6ave was great. The shipping company (Perlas Logistics) was great! They have an online tracking site (not always up to date, but still useful) and their customer support is great. Twice I emailed them to get more information on arrival date and they got back to me within minutes. When my TV showed up, the driver took it out of the box for me to inspect. He then offered to help me take it upstairs to my room. After reading all of the horror stories about online retailers, shipping companys, damaged products, horrible customer service etc from other retailers, I am totally happy with 6ave.

As for the TV, it is great! I have only had limited time to play with it, but the HD picture is really good. My cable company's box only outputs 1080i, but the HD channels look really good. Standard TV looks good too. I don't have much to compare it to, but when looking at Best Buy, this TV definitely stood out against others. The THX setting is a really good out of the box setup. I have that on all the time. The sound is good, but once you get above the middle range of volume, it doesn't go much louder. Either way, for my bedroom, it is perfect. The reflection is not too bad, but with lights on I could definitely see some reflection. It is not any worse than on my 20" iMac. If they room were dark, like at night, I am sure it will be fine.

The viewing angles are awesome. I can see the picture great from any angle in my room. After I get 100 or so hours on this, I will hook up a DVD player and old PS2 to see what the picture is like.

I will update this when I have more viewing hours logged.

  2. The Panasonic TH-42PZ800U was easy to setup and performs beautifully. The picture is a joy to watch. Delivery was fast and effortless. No hassle.

  3. I am fully satisfied with My Panasonic Viera HDTV..Absolute Brilliance and Sharpness are amazing. The best TV i have ever owned. You can trust Panasonic as a brand..i owned 2 previous with no trouble. Do yourself a favor go buy one of these...and dump that insipid TV that is in the living room...you will be glad you did :)

  4. This is my first Big Screen TV Purchase. I did a lot of research whether to buy plasms or LCD finally went for Plasma. Finally wanted the best industry brand feel panasonic dont have any competition in Plasma the picture quality is outstanding. When i saw Spiderman 3 on bluray i thought whether video quality can be so amazing. I give 101 marks from 100 to this tv awesome. the only thing they miss is vierrcast which they have in 850 series models. But for this price this is the best tv i prefer.

  5. Panasonic has done a fine job on this one. I was told that the LCD was better that plasma. I find it hard to believe that anything could look better that this.

I was impressed with the ease of putting it together when it arrived. I had it in the cabinet within 15 minutes after opening the carton.

The picture is good in standard mode and that is where most of our viewing takes place. Normal local channels on cable do not really show what the TV is capable of showing. HD channels start to bring our how good it really looks.

When I turn on my PS3 and bring up MotorStorm in Vivid mode, the Mountains look real. The picture is so real that it will take your breath away.

I have not run across anything that I would consider to be a negative other that the price. But, sometimes it costs a little more to go "First Class".

  1. I bought my first Samsung tube 720p HDTV back in 2005 for $650 brand new. It was a 27" piece of gold and I couldn't believe how sweet the 360 looked on it. Fast forward 3 years later to flat panel LCD TVs and I'll tell ya...Samsung has not lost their talent when it comes to making HDTVs. I have my Wii and 360 hooked up to it and the 360 looks amazing. The glossy black finish is so nice. The tv really sticks out. The only thing I don't like about the TV is that it only has 3 preset color modes and I know on other models there is a game preset mode that is pretty sweet. I can fine tune the colors myself though, if I need to. Other than that I have no complaints about this fine product.

Oh, I didn't mention how good the Wii looks because...well, it's a Wii and only plays at 480p max. Metroid Prime 3 looks no more than decent on 480p. But connect a PS3 or Xbox 360 to the HDMI port(s) and you'll be in heaven.

I definitely recommend this TV to any gamer who is on a budget. I was looking at the 32 inch of this model but I was like $80 short and didn't feel like driving 45 minutes back to my house to get more money, lol. This TV is WELL worth it. 5 stars for Samsung.

  2. Samsung has always been great electronic products and it's mostly all I buy. This TV is great and really love it.
    Thank you!

  3. First let me say that I bought this tv for my bedroom. We had a cheaper LCD tv (Emerson) in our room, but it broke after 1 year and can not be repaired! So we have been searching for a few days and it was a toss between Samsung and Sony. We went with Samsung because the picture looked better. I am very pleased that we did. I love all the features and the picture quality. HD is awsome. Glad I spent the extra money for a "name brand" model.

  4. I love it! I went from a semi-antique to this and what a difference! I don't have it hooked up to an HD feed (Dish wants an arm and a leg for that) but it's enough better that I don't feel I need it. Picture quality is excellent! I hooked the sound up to my boom box and it will blow you out of the room. Not that I need it that loud (yet) but it's nice to have it so I can turn it up to hear it everywhere in the house.

  5. My new monitor arrived today, with "white glove service." I was looking for something to replace my 13" TV and 19" monitor (also Samsung; I am a Samsung fan), and this fills the bill perfectly. I am just moderately adept at figuring out how to hook up electronic equipment, but the manual included is very clear and descriptive in explaining what goes where. I had no problem with the video aspect of hooking up the TV to my Mac. I do need to get a longer audio cord, so at this point I can't comment on the computer audio setup. The TV picture and sound are great, even without an HD tuner (I have a broadband basic satellite connection on this second TV), and I had no problem with making adjustments to the picture for viewing in the monitor mode. Shipping was free (Amazon Prime member), and I saved about $40 by ordering through Amazon rather than making the trip to the local Wal-Mart. The delivery service was excellent. Setup was truly "Plug and Play," and, boy, is that refreshing! Very easy to set up and very easy to make adjustments to the picture. For someone who wants a TV/monitor combination for an office or small space, this is perfect.

  1. I love this. I looked at a 40 inch and this and this had far better picture quality and sound. I mainly wanted this for video games and it was great with movies too. It also paid to have Amazon Prime, because I saved a fortune with the free shipping.

  2. This was the perfect choice for the in law unit. Mounted on the wall it looks great, and the picture is crisp.

  3. I spent two months shopping for a new HDTV. Checked out all the top ones. Decided on a Samsung, then saw the new Panasonic 26LX85. It blew me away with the picture and features. Went back three times to different sellers, and it always caught my eye.

Just received it two days ago. Absolutely made the right decision. Get it before it becomes the top seller it really will be. Lots of features, no pc hookup(get 32") and 10K dynamic. Check it out. Panasonic you made a great viewing experience for me!!!

  4. Excellent quality for its price category, especially given that it was on sale when I bought it. Very high quality image and the speaker sound is about as good as internal speakers get; given that these were my two main qualifications for it, I am well satisfied. Easy to set up as well. My sole small irritation stems from the manual, which could have been easier to read, but all in all an excellent buy.

  5. First time HDtver. Picture is excellent, Panasonic support made set up a breeze for a novice, Amazon delivery in a day with Prime. Very Pleased!!!!

  1. I bought mine more than a year and a half ago, have had ANY problem with that given the fact that all its functions are used quite extensively. By the way i bought it from buydig.com; they have very good prices on most, not all, electronics and it arrived safe to me. they even put it into 2 boxes.

  2. I have been researching 42" flat pannels for about 6 months before I purchased this model. I almost went with a plasma but after loosing the coin toss went with LCD technology. I have been extremly happy with this model. The colors are very vivid and the blacks are very good, almost inky. I havent noticed any motion blur that you usually see on some lcd's so if you are a gamer like me this is a great tv for gaming. 360 through componet looks amazing, and when i get my ps3 i'm sure that will look just as sweet. SD programing ranges depending on source. My Satelite through Dish is hooked up with HDMI and all my HD programing looks crisp and clean. DVD is going through a Toshiba SD-6100 up converited player using hdmi, what a differance, not blue ray differance but my reg dvds have never looked so good. As with anything nothing is perfict my only complaint and this is a small complaint is the viewing angle, other than that best tv for the $$$.

  3. We originally purchased this TV because of the great picture and the price was right. After three days, the monitor died. Sound would still come out, but there was no picture. We returned it to the store and, figuring it was a one-off defect, exchanged it for another of the same model. The new one lasted about three weeks before it started constantly flickering a gray screen. Again, the sound was fine. This time I exchanged it for a 40" Samsung at the same price.

My advice is to stay away from this model! It obviously has some sort of fatal manufacturing defect. It may seem like a good deal, but there's a reason the price is so reasonable. I'm going to be staying away from Toshiba from now on.

  4. We bought this television a little over a year ago. In recent months it has developed a permenant vertical line on the screen at right about the point where non-letterbox content would be bracketed. For a television that is less than two years old, this is really disappointing and I would not buy another Toshiba LCD as a result of this.

  5. I've had this Toshiba set for a couple months now and am very, very happy with it. The HD picture is bright and clear -- even in our sunny living room. Standard-def content also looks very good, which is key since our cable company has next to no HD channels and we can't get satellite.

Would definitely recommend this set to others -- it's also a great bargain price-wise.

  1. This TV is amazing! My previous college roommate had the 40-inch version of this TV where it was prominently displayed in our living room, and we loved it. Now he's graduated and he took the TV with him (he paid for it). Anyhow, my other roommate and I split the coast of a flat screen box TV and it was a PAIN to move around, and it was poor quality. I got fed up and decided to toss that giant monster and got this beauty. The quality is beyond great. It's light, easy to assemble, and takes up little space.

    Buy it.

  2. Bought this 19" Samsung for use in the kitchen and Camper Trailer. It works great for both of those situations. Was 60miles from St.Louis and picked up all HD and digital signal with no problem while camping in a state park. I know that is not camping, but I like to watch the news during the evening!

I havent tried this but read where another reviewer could receive HD signals from cable out of the wall with no receiver box, if that is true that is a bonus.

The pictures quality comes supprisingly close to my 46 inch Sony XBR 4 which is suppose to be one of the best TV's out there.

Speakers are not hi-fi but adaquate, and allow for the very compact and light design.

Overall this is very good televison which is priced very attractively at verious sellers.

  3. While this tv does have good color and a clear picture, I tend o find that it crushes blacks in dark scenes. You lose a lot of shadow details. Generally speaking, the set is simply too dark. I have the back light set at 7. If I turn it up all the way, the top and bottom of the screen start to bleed white light. Even with the back light turned all the way up, it is still too dark for my tastes. My new 65 inch DLP has a much brighter picture. Also the sound is mediocre. That is nothing new for small lcd tvs.
Since the exterior color was as important as the picture in this application, I will keep it.

  4. I really like the LCD TV except for the marginal audio quality. For a television meant to be employed in the kitchen, Samsung should have spent more resources on making this stand-alone product sound better. I say "stand-alone" because most users will not have an AV receiver in the kitchen with which to power remote speakers. In this unit, the bass is non-existent and the highs are grainy.

I don't have regrets for purchasing the product as the picture quality is excellent and it looks great on my counter.

  5. The electronics of this Samsung TV are not a problem, the power cord is. The set replaced a smaller, older white Sony. The Sony had an visually inobtrusive white cord. The Samsung's black power cord looks terrible.

  1. My tv doesn't work. I don't know why but it doesn't work since the first day. I have an uncle that buyed one and works perfect. Maybe is only my TV.

  2. The NTSC warning implies it only has a NTSC (analog) tuner. The specs say it has both NTSC and ATSC (digital) tuners builtin. None of the reviews comment on how the builtin ATSC tuner performs... somebody w/one of these plz advise, thank you!

  3. I bought this television but returned it because the sound quality was so bad. It sounded like the sound was coming through a tin box or a transitor radio. It was so irratating - even though the picture was pretty good I could not stand the sound.

  4. I already own a older Sharp 15 inch TV and have had no trouble out of it so I picked out this one and have had great service so far it has a great picture and the sound is fine I don't think you can go wrong with this one the price is great and shipping is free and no Tax.

  5. My TV stopped working after less than 3 months (convientiently 2 weeks past the 90 day labor warranty). To get it fixed I would have to pay at least $150 in labor and shipping on a TV that cost less than $300. What a racket!! How could I ever trust another Sharp product after this experience. What has happened to product quality?

  1. This is a fantastic TV. Great picture. Very bright. It needs a tilt stand, however. Additionally, the screen is just slightly shy of a true 16:9 size, so you have to use the "wide" setting to fill the screen. The 16:9 setting results in thin black bars on the top and bottom.

  2. I absolutely love the Samsung LCD TV's. We started with a 40", then purchased another 40" for the another bedroom. The 22" went in the motorhome bedroom and the other went in the kitchen. Just purchased another 30 inch for the family/pool room. Would have gone larger but it was all that would fit in the cabinet. We also are using a 19" as a monitor for our computer.

All have bright, clear pictures, enough hook ups for all the gadgets. We have been using them for almost eight months with no problems. High Definition looks fantastic on these TVs, do not purchase for regular analog, it is not worth the cost as you will be disappointed with the picture quality.

  3. I am very picky when it comes to electronics. I spend 2-3 months reading and visiting different stores asking lots of questions to a variety of salesman. Honestly I am a die-hard SONY consumer, but SONY did not have a set this size, needed for a spare bedroom. Having a friend who is a tv repairman, I was influenced somewhat by his opinion, as he sees sets all the time in the store for repair. According to him, the three brands that have the LEAST repairs are ...SONY, SAMSUNG and PANASONIC. He says "you can't go wrong with any of those brands." I have to believe him. This set is excellent. The set up is a breeze, and the picture on standard cable is very good, HD is amazing. The prize at AMAZON is cheaper than any of the big box stores, but just so you know, if you just have to have it NOW, and can't wait a few days for shipping, HH Greggs will match the price within about $4.00, whereas Circuit City and Best Buy thumb their noses at you when you ask. They are just too big for their britches! That's about it...if you are looking for a set in this size, just go buy it. It's a super looking set, easy controls, easy set up, very good picture on cable, excellent on HD and a good price. What's not to like?

  4. The TV comes with a sticker on the front. I have 3 Samsung TV's. All three came with a sticker on the front; however, this last one caused a problem. The first two stickers came right off with no residue left on the TV. The third sticker's glue stayed on the TV frame when the sticker was removed. I used all approved solutions to remove the glue from the frame, but it still lacked the shine and factory finished look as the rest of the frame. Really, I used all the solutions and this was really stuck on the frame. It may have been the heat from the delivery truck that caused the problem, but still, why put a sticker on the front of the TV. Just an risk that could be avoided. I am dealing with customer service now. I will post again with the result. Let's see if they do the right thing.

  5. Well if you want to buy this to hook up to a home theater system and don't care that buy itself it has really bad sound then there should be no problems. My TV had a problem with the screen and so it was sent back but i don't suppose that is a usual problem so i wouldn't let that bother you.

  1. i was very pleased with my plasma tv when i connected my satelite hd receiver to it. the picture quality is unbelievable and unmatched. the shipment and delivery was superb, the tv arrived a few days earlier than stated, and the delivery company contacted me and asked if i would like to recieve my tv tomorrow which was a few days sooner than anticipated. the delivery guy did it all, deliver,unpacked,set-up,tested for flaws, removed unwanted packaging material. great job amazon.

  2. Amazing picture with great color. My wife and I constantly marvel at how beautiful the picture is as we watch television. I like everything about it. The sound is not fantastic but it isn't supposed to be...exceeds my expectations in almost every way.

The DirecTV HD signals look gorgeous. 720P is a great value for the price. I don't see how I could have a better picture.

  3. First of all, CEVA shipping is excellent. Got the TV 3 days before estimated delivery date. Driver unpacked, plugged it up and tested it before leaving. The TV is great. Excellent HD pictures on Time Warner Cable. SD pictures are OK, but not as good as top of the line Toshiba 36" CRT. Image retention (IR)of TLC, ESPNHD, etc. logos will happen with 30 minutes or more of viewing even with 45 contrast and brightness and 3 on pixel brightness, pixel shift on max. But watching a full screen channel without logo for a couple of hours will remove it. NOTE the IR is very slight and only barely noticeable on light colored background and it seems that it may be less of a problem as time goes on. I've had the TV a week now and overall I don't believe a 1080p could be any better. Blueray on PS3 is awesome. HD channels are too. I don't have any problem with the quality of the audio. It sounds just fine to me.

  4. Very happy with my purchase. Good price, great delivery. I was worried about shipping a flat screen, but there was absolutely no problem. You just have to pull off the top of the box and plug in the TV to verify it works before the shipping company leaves. TV has everything I need. Great picture. Very pleased with it.

  5. I bought this as a second set for the recreation room and I couldn't be happier. For concerts and movies this set is spectacular. With proper placement and a little bit of care, a plasma of this size cannot be beat for entertanment value and all the drawbacks of plasmas are taken care of, all that is left is the pluses. The colours, contrast, black levels and features are top notch. Of course, if you only have one set and you want to use it for gaming, sports programming, news, and other programming with lots of static, high contrast graphics, you need to be extra careful, as burn-in is still being reported. how I use it, I don't even see any image retention, even less than on my LCD, or CRT. I don't think pixel shifting is the solution, I don't even engage it most of the time.

The set is solidly built, but the speakers are a bit of a let-down. Good enough at moderate level, but a home theatre seems almost a requirement to match this TV.

For those in the know, 720p is just as good as 1080p. Cable TV, of course, will not carry 1080p for many years. Just consider that usually blu-ray content comes in 2.35:1 aspect ratio. It does NOT have 1080 lines of vertical resolution, more like 738, each of which this set can display in a zoomed-in, full screen picture (as you SHOULD view it with a plasma). If, on the other hand you want a 50 inch LCD, most experts don't consider them equal to the plasma in picture quality at this size. So there, the extra $500 or more you'd pay for a 1080p is simply for the bragging rights.
