- I received this 19in flat screen HdTV for Christmas from my children. So far its great. The picture is sweet and clear. It plays DVDs perfectly. If there was any thing to complain about it would be the cheap Atari like clicker. The buttons are very very small, and it has very little power. Also Coby has not given its acess codes to Cablevision so you cannot use just one clicker you have to use theirs to turn on the tv. They dont answer their phone or e-Mail and thats kind of scary. The sound without a reciever hookup leaves much to be desired...It is very low. The 5 watt speakers are not powerful enough on their own. But again the picture is crisp and clear so far so good..

- I bought this for over in Iraq and they dont ship to APO so that sucked. but I got it here eventually... The sound isnt that great so investing in speakers wouldnt be such a bad idea. The picture quality is the best and at 19" it isnt taking up all the space of a DLP TV. Its 1080p High Definition makes movies and games look and sound amazing.. I was impressed for $300. specially since most TVs over here cost way too much. Example for anyone heading over here -- $100 for a 13" But the sound is all I wasnt satisfied with the TV and speakers solve that.
- I just setup this TV not expecting much for such a great price compared to the other TVs of this size. Bought this on the last recommendation and that it has the built in tuner! Picture is wonderful, setup is the easiest (I was a little apprehensive of the other TV reviews, but since I just wanted something small for my home office, this fit perfectly and far exceeded my expectations. I wish I had another space to fit another one of these!
- I use this as a secondary monitor to my laptop. The image flickers a lot initially and reduced substantially after I adjusted the settings, but I could not get it to stop completely. The text is not as sharp as a normal LCD monitor. As a TV, the image also is not very sharp. Do not bother using HDMI because the image quality just doesn't cut it. It'd be a waste to connect any HD appliances to this TV.
- Pros: light, versatile and good style.
Cons: the remoter need to be inproved. It works only pointed to the TV; it will be 1-2 seconds pause when you switch the channels.

4 comments about Philips 42PFL5332D 42-Inch LCD HDTV.
- After researching HD products, and believing I had found a good deal, I order the Philips 42" LCD widescreen. After receiving it and setting it up I watched great TV for about 4 or 5 weeks before the power supply crashed and my TV was completely dead. Needless to say I was upset.
3 weeks later the TV is up and running again (at no additional cost to me due to the 1 year warrenty). This could have been a bad egg 1 in every 10,000 tvs have, so I can't say "Philips TVs suck!", but you make up your mind.
Other aspects: Picture is "OK". A nice crisp image that is obviously better than regular TV but it doesn't make me feel the need to worship before it or anything. The TV has a nice feature that will automatically stretch or shrink any analog input size to wisescreen, but it tends to stretch the outer most limits of the picture. This is only a little distracting and not the end of the world. Note: when the TV is displaying Widescreen HD input everything is perfectly sized.
Sound is decent for TV sound.
The TV has a lot of customization settings that allow you to choose preference of mood and cool or warm colors.
The stand the TV comes with is very nice and heavy. the TV tilts with ease to the right or the left. Exluding the Power Supply Melt Down I'd give it a 3.5 out of 5, but if I could do it again I'd look for a different TV. Hope this helps.
- I am NOT a TV guru, but I did a lot of research before buying the 42" PHILIPS 720P LCD HDTV. I was confused about the meaning of 720P and 1080 and blah blah blah. The 720P makes up the color between pixels instead of giving you the "true" picture. It fills in the blank more or less. Well to my surprise, IT DOESN'T MATTER!!! I looked at a 720P and 1080P side by side in the store and I could not tell a difference AT ALL! I have 20/20 vision, I am not cross-eyed and I don't have an eyepatch. SO If it makes you feel better to purchase the 1080 and pay an extra $600.00 to buy you peice of mind, I say do it. However, as somebody who usually upgrades when buying a car from cloth to leather, getting the house with the extra bedroom and bath or 9 times out of 10 goes ahead with the 4 GB instead of 2 GB just in case, I can honestly say I don't regret getting the 720P and I think it was a heck of a deal. Buying a 42" LCD made by a trusted name in electronics all for less than a thousand bucks? Can't beat it with a stick!
Oh yeah, and the picture and sound are awsome. The TV itself has a surround sound feature that is pretty good and it puts out plenty of sound to fill a 15x18 room. My only recommendation is that you set the backlight up a hair so black shows as a dark grey instead of black black. I really like this TV and I would buy philips again if I could get the same bang for my buck...
- This is an incredibly good looking tv. It has great quality being that it is HD and 42" is much better than what I had going in the past. This one exceeds all expectations in my mind. The only thing that screwed with me is that the screen can be smeared and damaged easily and cleaning products don't work that well on this kind of tv. Now I have smudges I can't seem to get rid of. Also it never comes HD ready either. I didn't agree with that.
- Very Good Image ....
Auto was up colors ....
But I recommend that everybody connect this LCD TV in a source voltage regulator, Because This TV is very sensitive to electrostatic discharges, doing this we will be ensuring the life of LCD TV ..
In Another words....
I connect my PS3 with the HDMI cable, and the PS3 recognized a range of resolusion from 480p to 1080i, although it is 720p, I do not want me to imagine how it is the 1080p resolusion. ;)
My seller was teach for less .. everything came good friends ... thank you very much.

- I ordered this TV thru Amazon, but they were unable to get. I wound up ordering from B & H Video. WHAT A PICTURE. Hooked up to my DirecTV high-def receiver & has an excellent picture - crisp & sharp. I purchased the pink because my wife loves that color. NICE JOB SONY...

- I love everything about this TV. Great picture. Great size. Great looking. Great price. Everything I hoped for when I wanted HD TV. I've had it for 6 months and I'm still blown away by it. Especially sports. I'm a big time hockey fan and the difference between this and the picture on a very nice Pro Scan regular TV is unbelievable. It's like having your face up against the glass. Football and baseball too. I had one little problem when I first got it. I sometimes had to turn it on a couple of times to get it to start up, but that problem disappeared after a few weeks and hasn't occurred for some time now. I'd recommend this set to anyone. My brother got a 50 inch LG and I think they're both about the same quality.
- I purchased a 58inch HP Pavilion HD TV roughly 2 years ago. The computer went out in the TV. HP replaced the TV as they could not fix the problem. The technician, (whom was wearing an HP shirt and name badge), that installed the new TV said that with the new TV my warranty resets. He told me this because I expressly asked "what happens if the new TV ends up having the same problem?" Less than 9 months later the new TV also broke with the same computer problem. I contacted HP technical department and I was told that the warranty explained to me by the HP technician was incorrect. They went as far as to try and say that the technician was from a 3rd party and didn't work for HP. I asked for the 3rd parties name and was told that HP wasn't required to give me that information. I implore anyone that is considering buying a TV from HP to consider Sony or any other product TV besides HP.
- I BOUGHT THIS UNIT ON MARCH 10,2008 THIS IS JUNE 20TH AND I HAVE BURN-IN. I CONTACTED SAMSUNG TO FIND OUT THAT THEY DON'T COVER BURN-IN. PLEASE BUY A LCD. THE WARANTY ON THIS PROUDUCT SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- This is a very good TV for the price! My mom has a Samsung and spent over $3,000.00 on hers, and the quality of this one definitely outshines hers! I just upgraded to an HD cable box and the picture is very good. I gave this 4 starts because burn in and ghosting happens fairly easy on this TV. You have to be VERY careful if you are watching channels that have a logo on it for more than 40 minutes. I even have the contrast/brightness/color, etc. all below 50. My kids love to watch Nick, and I had the Nick logo stuck on my TV for days... (after watching for only 1 hour) Another time I was switching DVD's and my DVD player was on and the word "Pioneer" was burned into the TV in bright pink for 3 days; it was left on screen for no longer than 2 minutes. Other than that...great deal! Great picture!
- After doing TONS of research and going back and forth on 1080 vs. 720, I went for this beauty. I don't have a Blue-Ray player and I don't own a PS3 (yet) so I couldn't take advantage of 1080. Broadcast HD TV is 720 anyway. I have owned this set for about 10 months and at the time the same size LCD was $500 more and the screens on the LCD's of the day just were not as bright as plasma IMO.
Best thing to do, go to your local electronic store, compare TV's side by side and then buy it on Amazon. First of all Amazon rocks! Customer service is awesome. 2 weeks after we bought the TV it dropped $150 and when I called Amazon they gave me the difference back! This is only good for up to 30 days after your purchase date. No tax for us in CA, and Free white glove delivery. TV came on time, delivery company called me to schedule an appointment for delivery. The delivery guy brought the TV in and help set it up and even cleaned up the mess.
TV was a breeze to setup. I have HD Comcast cable running in via composite cables, a Wii via composite, a media center PC into the VGA port and a DVD player plugged in through one of the HDMI pots. Couldn't get coax to work directly connected to the TV but no big deal, I watch it through my cable box anyway.
I read online that you had to "break in" a plasma or you would have burn in early on. I had the TV's settings dialed in to my room brightness but still kept it at 50% brightness. Even at that setting the TV was still VERY bright! Yes it is a plasma TV and YES there will be burn in at some point. After playing Guitar Hero III for hours with friends yes there is a ghost of the game burned into the screen. Flip the channel to any HD FULL SCREEN channel and in about 10 minutes, its all gone.
Early on we would run the anti-burn feature on the TV when we went to bed to keep burn in from being permanent. Set the sleep timer for 30-60 min, and start the scrolling anti-burn feature. The next morning when we turned on the TV, it was all gone.
All in all, I love it!
PROS:
Great picture
Great color
Looks good on or off
Sound is impressive for such small speakers
Lots of inputs
CONS:
Burn in after gaming or when watching sports (score board or news ticker)
Plasma uses alot of energy vs LCD
Plasma puts off alot of heat for a TV. Keep airflow open around TV
VERY heavy, need two people to move safely

- quality of picture and TV in general is very good, would definitely recommend it. The only thing that i dont like so much is the exterior appearance, my samsung 46" looks much nicer, but as this is the only downside:
Definitely worth the buy !!
- Great buy, very satisfied with size, unless its right next to a 40 or 42 inch tv you would never know its a tad smaller. Wonderfully clear picture, I use a digital antenna and pick up amazing free digital local TV. Really really impressed by picture quality.
- Got this TV at an Atlanta area MART that sells many BRANDS (hint, hint), and got it at an excellent price (after salesperson cuts and rebates, got it for just over $900). Its a different model number (store-specific), but the same exact TV.
Here are lists for the pros and cons:
PROS
- Excellent picture, and easy to plug-n-play
- The TV menu/options has a TON of pick-and-choose settings, which leads to an endless amount of tweaking to get the best possible picture.
- The set looks nice mounted on the wall.
- The sound for TV/Cable is excellent.
- The HD picture for the cable is crisp and clear!
- Energy save features are great (auto-shut off, signal detection, automatic brightness adjuster, etc).
CONS
- Main Con: The picture from playing Blu-Ray movies (connected with a proper 1080p HDMI cable from a PS3) is not as crisp as some other TVs I have seen. I've been told that this is most likely due to the size of the TV, as larger TVs would be able to deliver 'crisper' detail (as the 1080 horizontal lines wouldn't be as compacted).
Was told by a certain store's 'Dork Group' that at 37', 1080p is only JUST more noticeable that 720p would be. They said in order for 1080p to be fully observed, a screen size of 42' and greater is best.
- The sound of both blu-ray and regular DVDs leaves something to be desired. I don't have a home theater set-up, and the speakers on the TV don't seem to handle the dolby digital sound as well as they should (can watch TV with volume in the teens...need to hike it up to the upper 30's to mid 40's for DVD/blu-ray playback). I think its just an issue with the TV's ability to compress the higher audio input.
- All inputs are in back of the TV (not side-mounted). Thus, if your TV is mounted to the wall, once its there, changing out cords and plugs is a challenge w/o removing the TV from the wall.
- On-TV buttons (power, volume, etc) are on top of the TV. Again an issue if the TV is mounted on the wall.
- On occasion, it takes the TV up to 10 seconds to read a new signal. For instance, playing a Blu-Ray disc, the rating screen is typically in 720p resolution. The TV will show 'lag' in decoding the 720p signal vs. the 1080p of the rest of the disc.
Sharp made a nice HDTV here, but the designing of the TV is quite flawed and poorly executed. Plus, the information about the 1080p resolution on this size TV is a little off-putting. I recommend saving a few hundred bucks and going with the 720p model for the 37' inch set. Also, be sure to consider needing additional speakers in order to fully enjoy DVD/blu-ray sound.
- This is an awesome LCD. Sharp, in my opinion, has it all including a great price. The contrast ratio is very important to have the best images, colors and true black/whites. The Aquos has one of the highest
available for the price. Great for gaming & action scenes as well. The vendor shipped the product out quickly...ordered tuesday night and arrived thursday by 3:00pm...very nice.
- I bought a new Sharp LC-37D62U on-line. It was pretty, the right size for my space, the specs were great and customer reviews were favorable. My experience to this point has been less than favorable.
The picture quality is pretty good, good viewing angle, very dark blacks and good contrast. Unfortunately, the audio will not lock onto two local digital sub-channels, it cuts in and out. I've tried a different antenna, with no change. Two other digital tuners in the house work fine on all channels. Sharp customer service tried to diagnose the problem by phone and finally decided to dispatch a local repair center. The local repair center says the problem is with the Sharp firmware and cannot be resolved until Sharp updates the firmware. Sharp denies a firmware issue and blames the local broadcaster. I asked why my other tuners worked, they said their tuner doesn't work like other peoples'. They are half right.
So, here I sit with a new Sharp TV that for whatever reason will not work with two of the local stations. I guess my options are to move to another city and hope those broadcasters work on Sharp TVs, watch the other channels or buy another new TV. If I get another TV, I don't think I'll consider Sharp as an option!

5 comments about Samsung LNT5265F 52-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV.
- The TV is very easy to setup. The picture quality is fantastic. Before the purchase, we compared this model to other brands and found the Samsung had the best picture quality. The contrast is very good on this TV. Highly recommended!
- This TV has exceeded my expectations. I've had it over 7 months and I still find it amazing. It works great for games as well as blu-ray.
Oddly, glare from the shiny screen has not been a problem for me. On a bright day I occasionally turn up the backlight to see the darkest colors in certain games, but I think this is more a function of the physics of the human eye adjusting to light and not anything to do with the shiny screen. By the opposite token, nitpickers may complain that the darkest blacks aren't pitch black in a *darkened* room, but this isn't very noticeable except in credits or in dark horror films/games. The price difference between this and the next model up doesn't justify the small advantage of ultra-dark blacks to to me. I used that savings to get a PS3 on which to view blu-ray disks.
If you can call it a drawback, this TV doesn't feature 120hz technology, which gives live action movies a home video look and cg movies a video game look - neither of which looks "right" to me.
- I never received the TV from the merchant, Out of the Attic, and after three attempts to contact them, they still never responded. Fortunately, Amazon refunded my money, though. I noticed another customer review with almost the exact same problem, but I gave the merchant one more chance. Well, it looks like I've confirmed that this is either the most unreliable merchant or they don't even exist. I strongly caution anyone from buying from them, and I suggest Amazon drop them as one of their merchants.
- There are a number of already very detailed and well written reviews here on this HDTV and since it's out of production now I won't add to them except to say they are very accurate. We bought ours towards the end of this models run and for the deal we got (which meant getting a 52" instead of a 46" for the same price or actually less) I couldn't see a better 1080p 60 Hz HDTV out there. I studied the 65 against the 120Hz 71 model and the Sony Bravias and there was absolutely nothing that could justify the extra money except that the bezels on this era and model of Samsungs left a bit to be desired compared to the Bravia as far as quality. The newer 550, 650 and 750 series Samsungs have in my opinion much improved bezels. However, that rather cheap plastic black bezel isn't what you watch and unless I pay a lot of attention to it it's really hard to find anything wrong. It's operated flawlessly since removed from the box and set up. If you are happy with something that doesn't have quite all the bells and whistles of the newer Samsung replacements and at the much cheaper price these are bringing now I wouldn't pass it up however they're getting difficult to find now.
- Nice tv set, works well so far. The universal remote does not seem to be able to operate a comcast box but overall good4 stars. That makes an average of 3 stars because amazon gets 2!!! My tv was supposed to be in mint condition and refurbished. When I got it I discovered tons of scratches everywhere on the panel and surrounding plastic, there was brown taped all over the set which took hours to remove and the batteries of the remote were dead! Add to that the $150 price drop 2 days after I ordered and you get a real feeling that you made a poor deal.
