  1. This is a nice lightweight hdtv with crisp picture, clear distinct sound, easy setup and remote variable adjustable controls for picture, sound, other connections such as a dvd player, and can be wall mounted. However, it does change analog channels very slowly-about 10 to 15 seconds--which Sharp tells me is due to the type of processor used in the product. I have it hooked up to my comcast cable without the digital box so I am receiving only a few digital public tv and espn channels). It also appears to emit a low hum that is unavoidable (this is the second one I have used in two weeks with this noise-exchanged another one because of this.)

  2. We decided to get a flat panel TV to save space with HD capabilities because the technology is going that way, but the bulk of our viewing is still just regular digital cable. Maybe I'm just not used to how flat panel TVs look, but the images look dull and blurry to me. People have strange coloration to their skin and movement is somewhat choppy.

Consumer Reports rates this TV's "standard definition" television viewing as only fair. I wish we'd checked the review ahead of time. We're returning it and getting the Toshiba 26HL66.

  3. I have my Xbox 360 connected to this Tv, and it's just awsome. My 360s component cables can do up to 1080i! Witch is good for the proce tag. My only complaint is the amount of inputs. Only one component, one hdmi, and two composite with s-video... A couple more component couldn't hert...

  4. This TV is sleek, cute, excellent picture but not a TV to put in the family room. If you don't have a HD box, you'll suffer even more, i'm a person that does not care too much for the clear crisp picture but also I have sattelite which manages to give it a decent look. Overall this TV was purchased for my bedroom so it really does not matter to me if I can see a piece of sweat coming off of the forhead of an individual.

    The pros

    TV is lightweight
Picture is decent but best to have sattelite as cable will not give you a proper picture
Has coaxial port along with RCA and HDMI
    Small and compact
    Affordable
    User friendly
    Different viewing modes available

    Cons

Channels takes too long to change if using cable
Picture distortion can be annoying at times, widescreen is the only time you really get a good view of what is on the screen
Sometimes if movement is rapid on the screen such as running or fighting scenes, the picture can become pixelling at some point and the picture becomes distorted

Otherwise I am pleased with this TV as it was only purchased to put in my bedroom

  1. I've had this TV for about two months. Like the picture quality. Don't expect the sound to be as good as a $3000 TV, but it is good enough in general. Or you can always hook up a home theatre with it. It seems to have a feature of self-shut-down after an electric shortage. You'll have to unplug and plug the power cord physically to reset it. I am not sure what is the mechanism, but it is not very convenient. Other than that, I think it is the best 52" TV I could find for under 2k.

  2. The packaging was adequate. No frills , but thats how I like it. Cut costs where it doesn't hurt.

Weight, Heavy but manageable. Me and a little creativity put on top of my mantle.

Bezel and overall appearance are great. The Bezel trim is glossy but not mirror glossy like my Vizio.

    Setup was simple.

Menu is very intuitive and easy to navigate.
The remote is also no frills , I like this too. However it is very light and one of the most comfortable I have held in a long time. Very easy to operate without looking.

Picture quality is far better than the westies I am used to seeing in the retail locations. Not gray at all. The night before I watched Spider Man 3 via Blu ray on my friends 52" Sony Bravia. Last night I played the exact same movie and used the same player. I, nor my wife could tell a difference. Maybe side by side there " may" have been a difference but nothing we either noticed. I surely saw no $1200 difference!

The spine/ waterfall design came in very handy as I hooked up various connections. I still have not tried my HTPC.

When displaying OTA content natively there is a row or two of pixels of "snow". I beleive others have posted about this. However at my distance "FILL" and "OVERSCAN" do just fine.

Menu has a ton of options as well.

    Cons
Have found none yet! I will update as I do.

  3. I was hesitant to venture away from the big Sony, Toshiba, Sharp, Samsung, and LG brands. But professional reviews from PC Magazine and UltimateAV.com highly recommended this TV for excellent contrast, color, and brightness so I took a "risk."

Ends up that it wasn't that much of a risk. Apparently Westinghouse is the largest maker of LCDs under 32" and has been pushing really hard to become one of the big players for large HDTVs (I read somewhere that they are the fourth largest LCD maker overall in the US). Whereas other big name manufacturers experiment with different feature combinations in their various 52" panels to maximize money out of consumers (think BMW and their various "series"), Westinghouse focused on getting the major features right for a great price and create happy customers.

I really like the picture quality. Very crisp 1080p with exceptional contrast. Basically no need to adjust color as it's nearly perfect out of the box (just about every other HDTV needs professional calibration). Extremely bright even when surrounded by four windows. No issue with screen glare from overhead lighting. No ghosting issues that I can see. Instant on when energy saver mode is off.

I would have liked to see 120 hz processing although that is still a mostly unproven technology from my understanding (I can't really tell the difference at my local big box retailer) and HDMI 1.3 (this one is 1.2a) w/Lip Synch. All this can be had from the big names for about [...]...way more than the ~[...] I paid for this unit.

  4. We bought this TV a month ago.The off the air HD reception is good(15 local channels with a home made attic antenna). The Picture quality is excellent and clear. However, there seems to have a issue when hooking up the DirectTV box with S-Video port. Sometimes when we try to switch from the off the air HD TV to DirectTV(S-Video), it keep saying 'no input detected'. We don't know it's the TV problem or the DirectTV box problem. Like the other post, we also notice the white blink lines at the top screen in STD mode . Switching to full or other mode will take care this problem. Beside these 2 minor problems, we are totally happy with this TV set.

The Sweetest spot for us is to buy this set from Costco at $999.99( with tax is a little over 1k). Where can you get a 52" 1080P HDTV with 4 HDMI and 2 years warranty from Costco for such a low price ?

PS: We do not work for Costco

  5. My son got this TV for christmas because he's 6 and every 6 yr old MUST have a flat screen right? lol. Well, we got it on sale and for a fantastic deal and it has the most unbelieavble crisp, clear picture that I've seen. I own a Sony and it beats the picture on that one by a long shot! It is very light, we chose to sit it on his dresser instead of mounting it on the wall. Gone are the days of lifting the backbreaking 400 # TV's!!! It has the plug in's in the front so it was very easy for us to hook up the Xbox 360 and the Wii to the tv...and gaming is incredible on that tv. it is like you are actually THERE. So naturally, even though we have 5 tv's in the house,we often gather in his room to watch movies and play video games...Again it is so light, very user friendly, has the sleep function which I love, and you cannot beat the picture. We reasearched and looked at several tv's before purchasing this one. It was the best price for the size and quality. I highly recommend this tv!

  1. I bought this to use in conjunction with my Direct TV receiver, Blu-Ray Player, and as a PC Monitor. The picture quality is excellent, especially in HD mode. I purchased two three-way floor speakers to hook up to the provided jacks. The only thing I wish this had was a non-amplified sound output so I could go straight to a sound system. This product ROCKS!!!!
