  1. I purchased a Westinghouse TV and within 4 months the TV was broken. At that point I called customer support and they were NOT willing to stand behind thier product. I asked if they found it reasonable for a TV go out in 4 months, all they said was that they could not help me.

  2. I've never reviewed a product on Amazon before despite my many purchases here. However, I've been so frustrated by this particular TV that the time has come. I was able to use my TV for about 10 minutes - during which I have to say it looked and sounded pretty good - and then the sound went out. Completely. I returned the unit at my own cost to Westinghouse. That was in April 2008, this is almost July, and I still...don't...have a TV. Their warranty process is completely screwed up, and though the agents on the phone are plenty nice, they can't do a darn thing. So enjoy the TV if it works for you, but if it doesn't, be prepared for a long, drawn-out torture of customer service absurdity. You've been warned.

  3. I bougth this tv last February at Wal-Mart after 4 months the unit just won't turn on.Called up Westinghouse and they said it might be the power cord i tried buying another power cord which cost me, and still the problem is still the same. I don't recommend this product to anybody..

  4. I guess I made a mistake going against my better instincts and not buying a better known brand. The TV was great for about a month and then the picture just went crazy. Everything was covered in neon green static. I'm hoping to have better luck with customer service than some of the other people here, but after reading their experiences, I'm not too hopeful. Lesson learned, spend the extra money and get a quality brand.

  5. The common axiom used when a product with a low price point breaks is "You get what you pay for." I believe this sort of thinking is problematic in the consumers' never ending quest to be respected by the companies from which we purchase goods.

In the case of the Westinghouse line of LCD t.v.s this is especially true. Yes the t.v.s' low prices can be considered a warning to stay away but they shouldn't be. When we just chalk a $700 t.v. that is defective up to "getting what we pay for", we create a climate where not only do we expect to get ripped off, Westinghouse is vindicated in a round about way. A defective t.v. is not worth $700 dollars. So no I did not get what I paid for. At any price a product should be expected to function properly for a reasonable amount of time. If a manufacturer or retail outlet knows that it will not, it should not be available for sale.

Saying "well I guess I got what I paid for" is tantamount to saying if Westinghouse or any other manufacturer sales wares at a reasonable price, they do not have a responsibility to provide a functioning product.

Unfortunately the only way to hold them accountable at this point is to keep spreading the word in hopes that consumers will become wary enough of their products the business folds. But there will no doubt always be a long line of budget conscious consumers being punished for looking for a deal.

  1. I have been through 5 tvs in the pass month (Insignia,Emprex,Sharp and Vizio) and this tv is on par with the Sharp brand. Great picture quality, great styling and for the fraction of the price of the Sharp. All I can say is I am happy now.

  2. It's absolutely maddening trying to pick out an LCD or plasma TV that doesn't have its share of problems surfacing on message boards across the Internet. First, I had to decide on a size and go from there. For my living room, 37" is absolutely perfect. It's neither too big nor too small in my opinion. Second, I had to decide on a brand. After spending endless hours online doing my research, I decided to go with Zenith. I've had 3 CRT TVs from Zenith in the past and have been completely satisfied with all of them. This LCD TV continues my lucky streak. Right out of the box, this TV provided an exceptional picture (with a little tweaking) and a lot of features for the price. I have found nothing to complain about, and I've had this TV now for a month. Although I'm not yet receiving HDTV programming, analog cable looks wonderful on this set, even with the picture stretched using one of the zoom settings. I was surprised because I've read on online forums that standard TV looks lousy on these sets. Maybe I don't know any better, but so far, I have no regrets with this TV, and I'm looking forward to even better quality once I receive true HDTV programming.

  3. I got this TV + a dvd/surround sound system for $1000 at a local retailer on a special promotion. Overall, its a pretty quality set but probably not the leader in LCD TV's. If I were going to spend $1800 I would probably look into a Samsung or Sony. Its pretty simple to navigate through menu's and customize the picture to your liking. I think it is a great set for $1000 but I probably would not have purchased it for the current price of $1800.

  4. This Zenith HDTV arrived in pristine condition. It has a great picture and sound for the money. As one of America's most respected TV Brands, it's a shame they are now just a name purchased by LG. Zentih had a reputation for TV Quality that was almost 60 years old.

This set looks great with its' silver finish. You need to read the instructions to learn how to get the best picture mode to view in HD. That takes a few minutes of reading and is well worth it. Would purchase again. For the money you can't beat the performance of this set.

  1. I was looking for a small digital TV to use in the bedroom with an indoor antenna, and purchased 14" CRT model at Walmart that just did not cut the mustard. I returned it for the 19" Sanyo LCD model.

Installation was fast and easy. Take it out of the box, plug it in, attach antenna, power on, and the set detects the type of antenna connection and off it goes scanning for TV stations without further ado.

It even comes with a manual.

The remote is uncluttered and simple to use. I was comfortable with it very quickly.

The digital pictures are crisp clear and a pleasure to watch. The analog pictures were not that good, but that depends on your antenna and location. I used a table top powered antenna from Radio Shack that works fine.

I gave the TV a four star rating because I have not had it long enough to give a full evaluation. I wrote this simply because there were no other evaluations, and I want to provide at least some feed back for those that are considering this product.

  1. Let this set be a warning to any gamer out there: You WILL experience response lag in games with this set. I knew something was off the moment I started playing Xbox 360 games via a HDMI hookup. I quickly set up the old HDTV this one was supposed to replace and sure enough, there is a difference between them.

Don't get me wrong though, if you're a movie buff, the image will astound you. The colors are really good, although I did find the orange to be slightly dull. Good set, just not good for gaming. Therefore, I ended up returning it.

  2. Received this product a little over a week ago, very happy with picture, sound and operation. Seller shipped promptly. I would do business with them again. I did have to be home to accept delivery, which might have been an inconvenience for some people.

  3. So I've had this unit for a few months now and I think I have a pretty good grasp of its capabilities and quality.
First- Set-up was a breeze, the manual, though sparse was pretty detailed in the picture. It was easy to follow the directions from the diagrams or just figure it out on your own.
Secong- Picture quality is amazing, black is truly black on this unit. the contrast and and the sharpness is great. I attached an HDDVD unit to it and it looks great.
Third- After a few days of using the built-in speakers at mid volume levels the sound quality starts dropping off. I opted to using my home external sound systems to save the speakers, besides it sounds better that way.

  4. I ordered this TV based solely on the reviews posted here and other websites. What a great TV!! The picture is crystal clear, even when I just plugged the cable into the wall while waiting for my DirecTV to be installed for HD.

The HD channels are even better than on my 37" plasma in the basement. I put this TV in my living room, which gets a lot of sunlight in the late afternoon. Absolutely minimal sun glare off the screen and the picture wasn't degraged at all!

  5. I love this set. I found it at a local pawn shop, perfect condition, and obviously got an excellent deal. I've used a couple of other HD sets, and this one's by far my favorite.

First and foremost: Gaming. I see another review on here was bashing the gaming on this set, but the PS3 run through HDMI at 720p looks beautiful. I've played CoD4, Battlfield: Bad Company, MGS4, Motorstorm, GTA4, and Warhawk on this set, all intense action oriented games. No blurring, no artifacts, looks realll good. The only thing that looks slightly bad is the edges on everything are a little pixellated, but it did this on the other sets as well (an $800 Sharp and $900 Sony of the same size). I'm not really sure what set he hooked it up to that looked better, but I'd like to know.

Second, SD cable. Like a lot of people, I haven't made the switch to HD programming yet. But SD channels look as good as you can expect. The Zoom1 ratio is really nice, doesn't look stretched at all, but it cuts things off sometimes (it's really only noticeable when there are words on screen - credits, titles, logos, etc.) Stuff I really don't care about seeing anyway. I'm not a fan of having big black bars on the side of my screen, so I really like this ratio. Image quality seems to vary a lot between channels, but it never looks bad.

Third, as a monitor. I was, in fact, so impressed when I hooked my laptop up through VGA that I've decided to build an HTPC to use with the LG as a monitor. Granted, I'm going to use a video card with DVI/HDMI output with a DVI to HDMI cable so I can pass HDMI sound to my receiver, but anyway. It looked good. I'm probably going to buy a long VGA Cable so I can hook up the laptop to the monitor and use it in a Dual Monitor set-up, as well. The max resolution supported on the tv is 1366 x 768, which is perfect for me, but I bet PC gamers will be wanting a much higher resolution... It's definitely not for playing Crysis at max settings. Still, it's not gonna look bad, either.

There are an absolute load of inputs, 3 HDMI, 2 Component, VGA, etc. I don't think you'll ever find yourself not being able to connect something you want to. There's also a Digital Out for audio.

The Remote can't program my Sony Receiver... irritating. I'm trying to find a universal remote that will let me switch inputs on the LG and control the volume of my receiver. There are 8 or 10 codes for Sony Audio, but none of them work. My receiver is a STR-K790, by the way.

(I can't comment on the speaker quality of the TV, since I haven't used it at all.)

All in all, it's a definitely a great set, and arguably the best budget HDTV around. The only issue at all I have with it is black-levels, but really it's minor. (see the 24 and 165 in the top left corner here? http://research.stowers-institute.org/efg/R/Color/Chart/ColorsChart2.jpg
The 165 is the black level on my set, with the gloss frame as the 24. You CAN get it darker, by adjusting the backlight level and such... I'm not much of a videophile so I'm not worried about it. For a casual user, you're only gonna notice it in pitch black scenes where people have the lights off, and the little black bars on the side. I just suggest using Zoom1.)

  1. I'm confused, this tv is listed as having 16:9 aspect ratio on amazon, onecall where it came from and lg website. recieved tv yesterday and set up with comcast box and hdmi cable. set tv at 16:9 and it has black strips at top and bottom of pic. measured screen and did the math. tv actually has 16:10 aspect so i am sending it back as i can't watch hd tv with distorted figures." do all 22" 1680 by 1050 panels have this issue? also poor sound

  2. Easy to setup and easy to watch, the 22LG30 is an excellent buy for the price.

After purchasing this unit and receiving it, I had it wall-mounted and setup in almost no time.

The color and picture requires some tweaking (I had it set to 'warm', from the default 'cool' setting and also increased brightness a bit) and the audio as others have commented is weaker than what you'd hope to get (I improved the audio by increasing treble and bass to 100%, and setting the sound option to 'music' from the default). One thing I could not adjust as well was the black, which was not quite as black as I would like but better than what I expected (from an entry-level priced LCD TV).

Overall, I am quite happy with this purchase!

  3. Good picture, compact size (the frame is narrow so takes less space), has PC input that works fine, menus pretty nicely done, but has serious lip synching problems, doesn't fit picture to screen all that well (and yes it is 16:10 so images are slightly tall). Sound has weak frequency range and does sound tinny, however I used headphone jack to feed stereo audio output to my receiver and that feed sounds fine. As I write this, I'm thinking there has to be better model out there...sharp and Toshiba 22 inch displays were not yet available when I purchased this one, only other option was a Vizio, which I tried, but dark backgrounds had lots of noise.

  4. Overall, this TV is excellent for what I want of it. I'm not sure what others had in mind when they purchase it, but for my needs, this TV is absolutely perfect doing double-duty as my computer monitor and small bedroom television. It's actually 22", widescreen, and high-definition, with brilliant color, nice design, compact size, hidden speakers (which, somewhat reduces audio quality, but adds to visual appeal), and at least one hook-up for any kind of device you need. As a monitor, it takes my computer to a whole new level, and as a HD television for my Xbox (using a VGA cable), the images are overwhelming at times. For the price, this TV is an excellent purchase, and a great compact television.

However, the one I bought had a single burned out pixel (which I was too lazy to take back and replace with another TV; not that noticeable unless you're watching something that's really dark and are sitting a foot away from the screen); plus, the TV has no tilt or turn ability. Instead, it just comes with a simple, small, rigid stand that locks into the bottom of the TV (however, once again, for my purposes, this really doesn't impact me too much). Also, audio quality is not great when using the TV's speakers, but since I mostly use the TV as a monitor, that once again is not a big deal. The only other thing I'm not thrilled about is the widescreen images seem to not be exactly widescreen; they seem a little short actually, causing circles to appear more as vertically stretched ovals, even when the TV and appropriate devices have been set to display in widescreen. However, the distortion is very slight, and only noticeable if you pay attention.

Overall, for the price, this is a great desktop or small bedroom TV. At 22", being high-definition, a television, and sylish, with all hook-ups on the back, this will be more than worth the value as a computer monitor and TV, especially for those on a budget.

  1. It's big, bright, fast, beautiful and did I mention it's big? I mean two side-by-side magnified A4 documents big. The price is great too compared to other 30" models.

The reason why this monitor is considered obsolete by Dell is the complaints from videophiles about its lack of connectivity options. Specifically, dual-link DVI is the only way in. So, if you are planning on connecting game machines or BlueRay drives or HD cable boxes via HDMI, you are out of luck. But, why would you want to do that? Even full HD video only goes up to 1920x1080. This monitor does 2560x1600. It makes a lot more sense to pay $800 for a 42" 1080p LCD TV, which is bigger and better for viewing video anyway. This is an ultra-high-resolution monitor, pure and simple, and I love it for doing a good job there.
